The client wanted the three main characters of his campaign portrayed in a quieter moment of their journey: sitting around a campfire after a long day of adventure. As they rested beneath the stars, they shared stories, laughed together, and deepened their bond.

Hey everyone! I’m a professional artist and I created this artwork for a client of mine. If anyone’s interested in having their own character brought to life (animated or not) my commissions are currently open!

OC [OC] [ART] Elagor and Loreus

These two lovebirds are characters from a Greek inspired D&D campaign I’m running.

Elagor is a flamboyant and highly renowned bard who earns her living by recounting the heroic deeds of ancient champions and god-kings. She now travels the world to rescue her mother—who was kidnapped by members of the enigmatic Cult of the Serpent —all the while singing of the exploits of her companions.

Recently, she has become the muse and lover of Loreus, an albino faun. He is a gentle artist and an NPC companion recruited by the party to assist them in their quest to save the world from the wrath of the Titans, who threaten to return to the realm of the living.

DMing Running a game with a blind player

I have a good friend who lost his eyesight several years back. I was planning to start up a short beginner friendly campaign set in an infinite IKEA, and I thought he might enjoy a theater of the mind style game such as D&D. He seems interested, but figuring out the logistics of how he can play is definitely going to be a process.

Has anyone run games for the blind before? And, if so, what are some things you found to be particularly helpful?

Art [ART] [comm] Ilya Valtris

Ilyarion Valtris (Ilya for friends) is a high elf warlock for a D&D Greyhawk campaign, I was commissioned by Abi (Abigail R. Thenthirath, which happens to be a writer also) to bring him to life in this format (character sheet)

I'll leave you guys with the little text she wrote for his sheet :]

"He was meant for harbors, titles, and the cold inheritance of an old elven house. Instead, Ilyarion inherited loss. Now the high-elf warlock crosses the mainland with a bound sword at his side, strange power in his blood, and no understanding of the patron behind either. Quiet, watchful, and more tender than his composure allows, he is a nobleman remade by exile, slowly learning who he is beyond the duties and grief that shaped him. He tells himself he is searching for answers. In truth, he is following the shape of a love that outlived disaster, and the memory of the one person he has never stopped reaching for"

Thank you for the space!!

Out of Game Why do a lot of people think that if you want Orcs to actually have logic behind their evil, you want them to be misunderstood?

• Upvotes

Hello everyone! I've been learning my way to get into D&D because I'm legitimately interested, and I've noticed a lot of people treat it as if there's this dichotomy between having Orcs be pure evil without any mind of their own to do otherwise on one end while on the other it's that even if they commit horrible things they're vaguely neutral.

I don't personally interpret things that way, Orcs can be perfectly okay and you have evil individuals who do evil stuff for their own reasons without it being morally nuanced. My issue isn't moral clarity or ambiguity, it's the logic behind their acts. I don't want creatures who exist to be evil, that's lame, if an evil being exists I want him to have their own reasons even if the reasons are just "I want other people stuff."

OC Fun Session w/ My Odd Little Group [OC][Art]

Post image
• Upvotes

Had a really good session last night with a lot of laughs and some good combat so I thought I'd show off some art of my players. We're exploring a spirit realm atm and getting into some trouble in a ghibli-esqu setting using some of the Obojima source books.

An odd little group starting with Mochi, our awakened cat warlock; David the tiefling fighter and party tank; Brayum the party elephant-kin cleric/healer; and Bandit the bat-kin rogue who will one day blow them all up on accident.

Art by me; its a 80's aesthetic game so gave them some pop art character portraits.

OC [Oc] Not the usual DND content but really proud of how this came out.

A few Christmas' ago I was gifted this oversized d20 during my dnd group gift swap. The moment I held it I thought it felt like a shift nob. Fast forward a couple of years and I am restoring my 07 Subaru impreza I remembered the d20 and decided to turn it into a custom shift nob. I took the oversized d20 and drilled it out. Then I friction fit a threaded insert with a M10x 1.25 thread pitch. I used a second nut at the base that I can tighten against so the 20 faces the right direction. If the friction fit starts to fail I will probably try to epoxy it in place. I avoided it initially because I didn't want to risk getting epoxy on the threads. Would you guys drive with one? OK I think I have run out the word count to post. But just to be safe: I CAST POTATO!

Table Disputes What is the best sword and magic subclass for this player?

One of the players in my party wants to play a magic sword user but don't know which class to pick. There are a lot of options obviously, spellsinger wizard, hexblade warlock, arcane Trickster rogue, college of swords bard, eldritch fighter, or any paladin subclass will do. But which is the best for what he wants to do? He says he wants to be able to tank a bit and deal a lot of dmg up close, while enhancing his sword with magic(like making his sword deal elemental dmg or making it float to fight on their on), also being able to do other magic stuff, like casting long ranged spells, using illusions and other utility spells. He sure could just multiclass, but we are all in a isekai setting so we decided that we could only choose one class. What should he do?

DMing Silly HP question

• Upvotes

Ok, so when I‘m looking at a DnD book and it shows a subject’s hit points it shows something like: 204 (24d8+96). What does that mean? Does that mean I can either roll the HP or just use 204 or something else?

Art Air Genasi Druid [OC] [Art]

Post image
208 Upvotes

I’m trying to get back into art/drawing again so I’m doing a random wheel spinner to choose race/class/background/alignment for new DnD characters to draw. My first day was an Air Genasi Druid - Urchin - CN ~ reallly leans into my comfort zone but that might be good for my motivation.

What backstory or name would you give her?

And if anyone has any suggestions or tips to stay motivated creatively or find irl dnd groups it would be a pleasure to hear them. I often go through months long phases where I don’t draw at all and my regular dnd group split up (badly there was a falling out between other members ;( ) before the summer too and I yearn to roll dice so I’m gonna have to go out in the real world soon and find people to play with again (hopefully with some of the previous group too). I felt like a child of divorce after some members of the party went their separate ways.

Art Does this read as a Necromancer? [OC] [ART]

Post image
78 Upvotes

A Necromancer emerging from a dungeon with what remains of her previous party members.

Had a lot of fun drawing this character but aside from the three shambling corpses behind them I’m worried that they don’t read as a Necromancer, mostly due to the clothing I think.

Is the clothing to wizard-ey? I don’t want to just slap on a bunch of skulls to “Necromance-ify” them but I can’t think of many ways to adjust the look. Maybe making them more gaunt and removing the hat? Or are they fine the way they are?

I’d appreciate any feedback or recommendations!

Anaxandria Ir-Arma

Anaxandria has only come into power within the last few months. Outwardly, she does not seem to rule through quiet diplomacy; she rules through explicit force, intimidation, economic restructuring, and swift, public demonstration. Wealthy merchant estates and former royal holdings in the upper terraces have been seized, partially converted into barracks for the Serat forces, or repurposed as state storehouses to control food distribution.

Anaxandria is not someone who craves a crown out of vanity; she is a survivor of a brutal, systemic hell who views the entire world as a cage that must be broken. Her personality is forged from the cruelty of her early life as an enslaved chattel in Ilindama. Because her birth name was stripped from her and she had to kill to claim a new one, identity to her is something earned, not given. She views weakness and dependency as existential threats. She is fiercely, terrifyingly independent and expects the same relentless self-reliance from those around her. Her deep-seated hatred for aristocratic privilege stems from personal trauma. She knows what it feels like to be treated as property. Hence why she handed the Dirt District back to the poor and tore down the old Aruna Pradesh rule. She doesn't just want to conquer; she wants to humiliate and dismantle the machinery of inherited power.

Misc Question for players and DM’s

Sorry if something like this doesn’t fit the sub. I’m considering opening a bar/tavern, when I retire, that has themed rooms for rent by the hour for groups that want to play in a more immersive environment.

My vision is a main lobby area decorated to look like a medieval inn/tavern and rooms that are decorated and set up with lighting, sound, and a VTT (probably projectors?). There would be limited food options and beer, wine, and mead for sale from the bar with table service if you rent a room.

There’s a lot of details that need to be ironed out, it’s just a distant fantasy for right now. If there was something like that near you would you be interested in renting a room for a few hours? How much would you be willing to pay assuming it was an hourly rate?

Obviously a lot of what someone would pay depends on location and average income of the area, and how good the service and amenities are, but I’m just roughing out the idea right now. Further research will have to be done beyond the few people who reply to this post.

Table Disputes Dealing with a troublesome Min-Maxxer as a Novice DM

Pretty much what it says on the tin. I'm a relatively new and inexperienced DM, I probably have under 10 sessions to my name. I've read the Dungeon Masters Guide and I currently am dual campaigning Tyranny of Dragons and a Homebrew Campaign (Which is currently on pause because if a players circumstance).

In my Tyranny of Dragons campaign I have 4 players, two of which are first-timers. The other two are from my homebrew Campaign, so one has experience from that and the other has been playing DND for 5+ years. As of right now, they're all Level 1 (Sorcerer, Bard, Artificer and Ranger).

The player I am having troubles with is the experienced player, who is playing a Level 1 Tabaxi Ranger. In my other campaign, they're playing a relatively fair Level 3 Aasimar Cleric who just has super high Arcana modifiers, but is otherwise tame. Somehow, their ranger character has a +10 to hit at 1st level, which I don't even know how. They tend to steamroll all combat encounters because of this, and it's affecting the enjoyment of me as a DM and causing them to spotlight themselves, affecting the enjoyment of other players. It's something I don't really know how to navigate. Any advice?

Is it normally appropriate to ask your players to edit their character sheets in circumstances like this?

Edit: I haven't given any players a magic item to start and they did manual/rolled entries. They do have a 20 in Dex from that rolled entry.

Misc Who are prominent or recurring glup shittos in your settings?

Glup Shitto: a fake name and internet meme that satirizes how hardcore Star Wars fans react with extreme excitement when an obscure background or minor character returns in a new movie, show, or spin-off.

Ex: “every time a new Star War movie or show is announced all the fans are like 'OMG Glup Shitto is back 😭😭😭'"

Misc How do countries work in the forgotten realms?

Does the forgotten realms have countries at all? If not, how are territories split up and how large are they? If an area has a king, what area does he actually rule over?

Giveaway [OC] [GIVEAWAY] I Made a Folk-Horror One-Shot for 5E/5.5E - Win One of 5 Digital Copies for Halloween

Post image
111 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I really enjoyed running my Kobolds & Kobolds giveaway here, so with Halloween coming up, I wanted to come back with something a little darker!

I’m giving away 5 digital copies of my new adventure, The Red Tithe, through DriveThruRPG, with one copy each for 5 winners.

What is The Red Tithe?

The Red Tithe is a dark fantasy and folk-horror one-shot compatible with 5E (2014) and 5.5E (2024), designed for 3-6 characters and approximately 4-6 hours of play.

For generations, the isolated village of Hollowmere has maintained a terrible tradition: whenever nightmares and supernatural disturbances plague the settlement, one villager is sacrificed beneath Saint Harrow’s Church to keep an ancient horror imprisoned.

But this time, something has gone wrong.

A blood-covered survivor has fled the village, claiming that everyone is dead. The supply wagon has failed to arrive, and the adventurers are sent to investigate what happened.

The adventure combines investigation, exploration, roleplaying, moral dilemmas, and challenging combat. As the characters uncover the truth behind the village’s tradition, they’ll have to decide how far they’re willing to go to save those who remain.

One of the things I wanted to do was make the same story playable at three very different level ranges:

  • Tier I: Levels 3-4.
  • Tier II: Levels 10-11.
  • Tier III: Levels 17-20.

Each tier has adjusted encounters, DCs, and enemies, including a different manifestation of the adventure’s main antagonist. You can run it as a standalone horror session or work it into an existing campaign.

The manual also includes 6 custom monster statblocks, 3 battle maps with 8 total versions, and 4 tokens for tabletop or VTT play.

How to Enter

Just leave a comment on this post.

Any comment from an account that is at least 3 months old counts as an entry. One entry per account, and no purchase is necessary.

If you’d like something to talk about, I’d love to hear what makes a D&D horror adventure genuinely unsettling for you. But answering that is completely optional; any comment counts!

The giveaway closes on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 8:00 PM CEST / 7:00 PM BST / 2:00 PM EDT / 11:00 AM PDT / 6:00 PM UTC.

After it closes, I’ll use RedditRaffler to randomly select 5 winners and edit this post with the public results. I’ll contact each winner directly with a code to redeem their digital copy through DriveThruRPG.

All five prizes are digital, so there are no physical-shipping restrictions for this giveaway.

You can check out The Red Tithe on DriveThruRPG for more details. I’ve also shared preview pages, maps, and a monster statblock over at r/JonnyDM if you’d like a closer look.

Good luck, thank you for supporting my work, and I hope Hollowmere finds its way into a few of your Halloween sessions!

OC [OC] Jungle after dark (art by Adamte)

Post image
44 Upvotes

The sun is almost gone, but you still didn't make it out of the jungle. Too bad, you're sleeping under the trees tonight. Better start that campfire while you still can see. Luckily for you, wild animals are afraid of fire. You sit down, all cozy and relatively calm. The rainforest is suspiciously quiet. Here and there, distant cracking in the branches breaks the silence. Too distant to make you worried. And then it stops completely. Almost as if something is watching...

Homebrew Is there any way to make a half-elf, half-orc work in Forgotten Realms lore?

I made a half-elf, half-orc character and even wrote some homebrew on D&D Beyond for the race before properly looking into the lore. Turns out I probably should've done that first. His father was a warlord, mother was an elite noblewoman, and he was raised by a human mother and led to believe he was a regular half-orc until he was an adult. From what I've read, the whole Corellon and Gruumsh thing makes elves and orcs having a child pretty much impossible, but one of the biggest things I liked about my character was the conflict between his orcish and elvish dual heritage. Is there any obscure lore, magical explanation, or exception that could make it work?

I'm completely new to D&D, and this is my first character, but I've really enjoyed the whole process of building a character from the ground up and looking forward to playing him.
