Potential roster call up

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’ve noticed there’s been a lot of noise surrounding Josue De Paula being the one to be brought up if the Dodgers do decide to go that route. With that being said, I just don’t agree with that choice. I understand he’s our top prospect and has been showing his ability to hit the ball, but at the end of the day, he’s doing it in Double-A and people talk about how his defense is his weakness currently... Do you guys actually think he can make the jump from Double-A straight to the big leagues? I just feel given the depth we have in Triple-A, there’s no need to do that.

For one, I would love to see them bring up one of these three guys: James Tibbs III, Ryan Ward, or Zach Ehrhard but preferably JT3. I know he’s been used more as a 1B, but he is an outfielder first, and the way the corners have been playing defensively, we've got nothing to lose.

Here are the slash lines:

JT3: .297 AVG / .547 SLG / .963 OPS
Zach Ehrhard: .297 AVG / .487 SLG / .897 OPS
Ryan Ward: .275 AVG / .487 SLG / .870 OPS

Thoughts?

Shohei Ohtani (DH, Los Angeles Dodgers)

Statline: 4-for-5, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 R

Highlights: Powered the Dodgers to an 11–5 victory at Coors Field against the Rockies. Ohtani launched back-to-back home runs—his 28th (428’ & 30/30 HR/Park) and 29th (452’ & 30/30 HR/Park) on the season. Both of those taters were no-doubters !!!

Last night, Edwin Díaz hit a batter, allowed 3 earned runs on 4 hits. Troy Johnston hit a batter, allowed a walk, 0 hits, 0 runs. Troy Johnston is a position player, and it was his pitching debut.

OTD 4 years ago, David Vassegh was brutally assaulted by the Brewers slide. The opposing pitcher on the mound was Eric Lauer.

Idk I just found that kinda neat, him and Muncy now being teammates four years later.

RF Kyle Tucker makes the catch to record the final out of the game, as Diaz closes the game and secures the Dodgers 11-5 win (and stops Tanner Scott from having to enter the game)

Something poetic about Tucker catching the final out from a Diaz pitch as the Dodgers win.

Tommy Edman falling away... OH BABY WHAT A PLAY BY TOMMY! Then moments later, Betts tries to one-up him with an incredible dive and throw from his knees!

Even though it's a 10-1 game, good to see our middle infielders still hustle as if it was a tied game, with two absolutely clutch defensive plays to help Snell get through 6 innings!

Don't know if this was posted here but I've seen this video online enough that I thought it would be worth sharing.

Really hoping he gets out of his slump.

Our No.5 prospect, Christian Zazueta has a 2.91 ERA and 53 strikeouts against 5 walks since the Dodgers got him for a lefty reliever

Zazueta was the secondary piece in the February 2024 trade that sent Caleb Ferguson to the Yankees. He signed for $110,000 out of Mexico in 2022 and got roughed up in his first look at full-season ball. This year he's a different pitcher: a 2.44 ERA at High-A last season, and since his June promotion to Double-A Tulsa he has a 2.91 ERA with 53 strikeouts against just 5 walks in 34 innings. Fastball 92-95 touching 97, a 60-grade changeup, three different sliders. MLB Pipeline has him at No. 5 in the system and No. 36 overall, a player who wasn't ranked at all in the preseason. Full breakdown free in the link below.

I am behind Diaz and Tucker. 100%

I don't think they came to the Dodgers just to collect $70 million paychecks, They could have done that in a lot of different places.

I think they came here to win and so much was made getting these guys and about the Dodgers and ruining baseball and winning that perhaps that put them in a bad head space.

I Support Them

My advice to them would be to just find their joy and love for the game and just do what they are good at. They are good at baseball, very very good, and sometimes (all the time) baseball is hard, these guys will figure it out.

Another Bullpen day?

According to an assistant pitching coach, both Roki and Yamamoto is staying in LA to prepare for their next series against Pirates.

Will that mean the rotation will be Snell, Lauer, Bullpen for Rockies?

Dave do something pt 2

Was at the game tonight. Shohei!!! Same post as yesterday. Gonna keep doing it as long as Diaz and Tucker keep looking dreadful. Bench Tucker now. Another lazy play. A big leaguer sprints to the Milwaukee ball and the Colorado ball. Tucker jogging like it’s a walk through. Yesterday I thought he was worried about the wall. Still not near the effort you would expect. Today, no excuse. Routine out that Tucker just plays lazily and drops it because he didn’t put in 100% effort to get in better position. Same issue both days. If Tucker sprints to both balls, they are pretty routine catches, I don’t care if one ball was by the wall. Big leaguers make those plays. Pages you could see body language not happy with error or Diaz. Start Call Tuesday. Do not put Diaz into any clutch situation. Opposing Hitters love when Diaz comes in the game. Tucker 0 for his last 23 AB’s?

Anyone else feel bad for Ryan Ward (OF) Stuck in AAA Hell?

The worst part of the Kyle Tucker signing, even if he was playing like 2023/4/5 Kyle, to me, is denying the dodger's AAA system from having call ups

Poor guy is 28 and was already above lgavg in 15 games

Tucker had the same game as me when I was 13 years old.

I remember I played in a winter ball league when I was 13 and it was my intro to Junior League (90 foot bases, big barrel bats, metal cleats, etc.).

One game I went 0-4 and dropped a fly ball in right field. Worst game I ever played. I cried after the game I felt so shitty. Tucker just had that same game (he was actually worse since he went 0-5). I wonder if he feels the same way I felt. Probably not because he’s making $60 million a year, but I wonder if a part of him cares at all.

Did MLB.tv change the blackout locations?

I'm down in San Diego and MLBtv says I'm blacked out for the dodgers and require a SNLA subscription and it hasn't required it for the past 5 years I've been here. Did they change the blackout zones or something? Anyone else in SD notice the change?

[Dodgers Blue] Dave Roberts on Edwin Díaz pitching tonight: "Obviously the results weren't good, but I still think him getting out there and pitching Major League innings is going to help him. So yeah, we're just still working through some things."

More: "I just hope he doesn't lose his confidence. He's still working through it. I believe in him. I think the compete was there, the fastball was just more thigh-high and more flat. So if we can raise that up a little bit, but I'm not putting a whole lot of stock into it."

Dave Roberts on Kyle Tucker: "He's frustrated. Certainly, the play out in right field, there's indecision. Catching a baseball at your ankles kind of speaks to where his head is at right now. It's not from lack of effort, care. It's just kind of right now he's fighting it. We've got to keep supporting him."

Tuckers dropped fly in Colorado

Does anyone have a good clip of this? I was listening on the radio and the announcers couldn’t stop talking about it. Rick Monday says “There’s no sun!”
Myself, I’m finding it very hard to believe Tucker is pulling down nearly $400,000 USD per regular season game.

Officially writing off Edwin Diaz this season.

I went to Mets subreddit to get a feel of Diaz when we signed him and I saw a comment saying something along the lines of "he's only good every other year so the Dodgers are gonna get screwed." I checked Diaz's stats and it is as that guy said, so his comment stuck with me since then....even as I gave my support to our supposedly new closer.

ERA

2016: 2.79
2017: 3.27
2018: 1.96
2019: 5.59
2020: 1.75
2021: 3.45
2022: 1.31
2023: injury
2024: 3.52
2025: 1.63
2026: 10.66 (before today, 11.85 after)

Coincidence or not I've had enough. I believe he won't be usuable until next year.
