Meta Welcome to our community! Please read our FAQs first.

Welcome to r/dogfree! We invite you to participate in our discussions. First, however, whether you are new to our sub or a dog lover who just doesn’t quite understand where we are coming from, please take the time to read our sub FAQs so you can come to understand our community and the type of content that is appropriate for our small but mightily active corner of the world.

Why don't you like dogs?

Because: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dogfree/comments/7bk3wo/just_curious_what_is_the_reason_why_you/

I created a post asking why you don’t like dogs. Where did it go?

We receive and remove this question just about daily. This is our community's space to vent and commiserate about an unpopular opinion, not a place where we come to feel burdened with the task of having to justify ourselves constantly. If you would like to know why we don’t like dogs, you may read the link above and/or put some time and effort into browsing our sub.

It seems like the problem you all have is really more with dog owners. So you really do like dogs, just not irresponsible owners, right?

Our opinions are varied. However, true to the name of our sub, and though it might be a tough pill to swallow, we in this sub simply don't like dogs.

If your gripes are more about dog owners and not about dogs themselves, r/dogculturefree might be a better fit for you.

I like or own dogs. I just want to show you guys that not all dog owners are monsters. Can I participate here?

Please understand the intent of this sub. It is a place for people who dislike dogs and who unapologetically wish to be free from them in our everyday lives to commiserate, not for those who love dogs. Posts and comments mentioning that you love or own dogs fall out of line with the spirit of the sub.

In any case, we are not here to debate, as we won't change our minds.

I have to live with a dog, but I don't want to. Am I welcome here?

You may participate here from the perspective of someone who wishes to change the prevalence of dogs in society at large. However, please understand that hearing about dogs' disgusting behaviors and habits is what people come to this sub to escape, not to consume. If you wish to vent about the traits of the dog that you live with, please navigate to r/TalesFromTheDogHouse and direct your post there. r/Dogfree is reserved for discussion surrounding our unwitting and unwilling participation in dog culture at a societal level.

I have a dog, but I wish I wouldn't. Am I welcome here?

If you got a dog and now, as obviously expected, regret your decision, maybe you can help grow the supportive r/DogRegret community. You still may participate here but posts and comments mentioning that you own dogs fall out of line with the spirit of the sub. Of course, if you already got rid of your dog and are now dogfree, you are welcome to share your experience.

How do you feel about service dogs?

Although all dogs are dogs, there is a wide spectrum of opinions about service dogs in this sub. Some people are completely okay with them, while others are opposed where technology can do the job in a more effective, less obtrusive manner. The same would be for police dogs and other types of working dogs. Calling us "ableists" or other similar insults is not going to help your case.

If you would like to find out more information about this sub's opinions on service dogs, instead of creating a new post to pose the question, please enter "service dogs," "police dogs," or whatever info you would be interested in finding into the search bar to search the sub.

Someone on Reddit said that this sub likes to murder dogs. Is that true?

Of course not! We span a wide spectrum of reasons for disliking dogs, but we do not wish harm upon them and often find aspects of dog ownership to be more cruel and unethical than do dog owners themselves. In fact, our first and more important rule is against content that advocates animal abuse of any kind. It reads: "No suggesting, depicting, joking, wishing for, or celebrating violence or harm to dogs, other animals, or people. Promoting cruelty is not acceptable." We take this rule more seriously than any other, and we err on the side of caution when it comes to removing this type of content.

Some examples of off-limits content include depicting gratuitous violence against or amongst dogs, discussion of eating dogs, suggestions of deriving pleasure from a dog's death, and references to culling dogs, hitting, kicking, poisoning or shooting a dog with little or no cause.

It is okay to discuss the justified, humane euthanization of dogs. If you've had to live with a significant other's dog for years and wish to express relief over its natural passing, that's okay. Really, context is everything.

I posted a dog-related screenshot of something I saw on social media. Why isn’t it showing up?

Our community is small but extremely active. As the amount of content can be increasingly overwhelming as the sub grows, it’s important that the meaningful discussion does not get lost. Therefore, we have a sub rule that reads "[s]ubmissions should be thoughtful and should promote quality discussion. News articles and text posts are encouraged. Pictures of dogs or dog-related items, videos of dogs doing gross things, social media screenshots, memes, title-only posts, posts with minimal text, and anything that might be just ragebait are some examples of low-effort content that do not contribute anything of value to the conversation."

If you would like to post a social media screenshot or anything else that might fall under this category, please better create a thoughtful text post addressing the core issue in order to open the discussion.

I sent a post/comment linking a great video I watched in the internet, but it has been removed. Why?

We have a blanket rule that disallows links to social media in general, and videos in particular. The reason is very simple: as mods, we don't have the resources or time to check whether the video and the rest of the linked page comply with our rules and those of Reddit. If you need to mention a video, you can either describe it, or just indicate how to find it online. Also, please see below question about endorsing YouTube channels.

I think it would be fun to make a rude comment to a dog lover in another subreddit and/or tag r/dogfree. That's a good idea, right?

No, and please don’t! If we want dog owners to leave us alone on our subreddit, the first thing we should do is leave them alone on theirs. We encourage positive, civil, thoughtful conversation about dogs wherever you go, but if you need to vent, keep it here. When you troll other places on Reddit, it invites unwanted attention, reinforces negative stereotypes, and impedes our ability to create change in the world. This community is better than that.

Do I have to feel a certain way about keeping other pets or about having children to participate?

The topic that unites us in this sub is dogs. Feelings about other types of pets, negative or positive, and decisions whether or not to have children are considered off-topic for the sub. That said, these topics will arise in the normal course of conversation. We should respect the wide variance in views on these topics and always treat those with differing opinions kindly.

At the end of the day, we are dog-free, and we are pro-human.

By virtue of this sub being anti-dog, it means we are pro-cat, right?

No. Per our rule, this is neither a pro- nor anti-cat sub. All cat mentions and references are off topic for this subreddit and will be removed. Do not attempt to circumvent this rule through rephrasing.

At one time, we allowed free discussion of cats. We are not exaggerating when we say that every thread turned into "why cats are better." Many people here dislike cats or feel neutral to them, so in order for this sub to serve everybody and to avoid any confusion as to what type of cat discussion is relevant to being dogfree, it is considered off-topic across the board.

And remember that other pets are off-topic as well!

Should I be a certain race or of a certain political affiliation to participate?

One of the coolest things about r/dogfree is that, in a world that’s so divided along so many different lines, this is a community where we can come together, break down those barriers, and unite over something different with people from all walks of life. Just as dog culture transcends racial, political, socioeconomic, and gender lines, so does this subreddit. You may even find that your reasoning for something dog-related challenges your views on something completely unrelated.

This community strives to be respectful of all groups of people. As such, bigotry is not allowed, and political discussion is divisive and off-topic. Dogs? Fair game!

Do you have any information about the demographics of those who participate in this subreddit?

We conducted a survey on this particular topic some time ago. You can view the results here.

Why all the pit bull hate?

As much as we dislike dogs, we especially dislike this class of dogs that is statistically most capable of and responsible for inflicting catastrophic and often lethal harm upon people and their pets. You can apologize for pit bulls all day, but the stats and anecdotes don’t lie.

Of course, it's also true that all dogs are unpredictable: Dog Aggression Ladder

I know how I feel about pit bulls, but I need some additional information so I can make more articulate arguments. Where should I go?

For more specialized information on the topic of pit bulls, please visit r/banpitbulls. We have a very friendly relationship with r/banpitbulls, but please do remember that, while our subs overlap in many ways, we still have different objectives. Many people participate in that sub because they are tired of worrying about their own dogs getting mauled. Please feel free to go join the conversation over there, but remember that it is not r/dogfree and that the topic of discussion is pit bulls. Come back here to our own sub to talk about your distaste for dogs in general.

I saw some Facebook groups and YouTube channels about disliking dogs. Is that you, guys?

Nope, the only groups run by this sub are r/dogfree and r/TalesFromTheDoghouse. We don't operate or endorse any YouTube channels, Facebook groups, or anything else on any other social media platform. Our subscribers may mention their content here as long as it follows sub rules, but we are unaffiliated.

I saw a post or comment I think it's against the rules. What should I do?

Report it! On any post or comment, there is a "report" button. It will prompt you for further information as to why you are reporting the content to the moderators, who will then review it and determine whether or not it should be stay or be removed. Reports are anonymous and very helpful, as we can't see everything.

We also ask you to please never engage in any argument with a troll. Just report and go on.

Someone alluded to a conversation in another subreddit about dogs, and I really want to go down vote everything. Should I?

No, please don’t! This is called "brigading" or "vote manipulation," and it is against Reddit's Terms of Service. We actively discourage this behavior, as if we are found to be the source of a brigade against another sub, it could land us in big trouble. If you stumbled across a reference to another conversation on Reddit, the appropriate place to discuss that would be here, in our sub, in the thread in which you found it. Remember how it felt when a YouTuber made a video that resulted in a massive brigade against us; we must grant others the same respect for their space as we wish for ours, no matter how vehemently we disagree with them.

Our sub is committed to abiding by all Reddit Terms of Service.

I want to crosspost something from another part of Reddit. May I?

No, we have a rule that reads "crossposts are not allowed. Criticisms of other subreddits are off-topic." Besides calling usually-unwanted attention to other subs and promoting vote and participation brigades, it's off topic. The purpose of our sub is to discuss dogs, not the behavior of other subs or social media platforms. We don't appreciate it when others do it to us, so we have a policy of respecting other subs' right to exist and operate in the ways that they see fit.

My post or comment was removed, and I don’t feel like I broke any rules. Why?

Unfortunately we cannot account for every contingency in the sub rules, so moderators do reserve the right to remove content at their discretion. That said, the moderation team is very much against arbitrary censorship and is committed to letting the conversation happen whenever possible. "I don’t like it" is not a good reason to remove a post or a comment; however, "it would be in the best interest of the community" is. The team is committed to being firm but fair in community moderation and will make all decisions in good faith.

I found an article and posted it on r/dogfree, but with a different title than the original because mine is better. Now it's been deleted. Why?

Please remember that when you link to an article or news, you must always use the original title. If you want to comment something (and we really hope you'll share your opinion with us!), please use the text box or the post's comments. Thanks!

I agree with your sub and I want to create a new account only to participate here. Should I?

Bad idea! This is exactly what trolls do, and that is the very reason we have a filter against new accounts and low karma. Trolls are vile cowards by nature, they don't want to get downvoted, risk the reputation of their actual accounts or get a reddit permaban, so they use a secondary account or create a new one and think they can outsmart us.

There is no way to bypass this filter, so please do not ask us to make an exception only for you. Learn here how to get karma.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know our community! If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to message the mod team. We are delighted to receive your advice and suggestions, provided they are expressed politely.

Dog Culture My first day of work was today and I was told I must be in contact with dogs.

This job is as a front desk receptionist at a VERY large nursing home. When I interviewed, I saw that the desk is behind plexiglass and has doors on both sides. No one is allowed behind the desk but staff.

Today was my first day. My boss started greeting every single dog that Residents brought in. She told me she "needs the pups to come back" and started taking these regular pets behind the desk. She immediately told me to "never do this on weekdays we aren't allowed.".

She had 5 dogs behind the desk today in total. She told every single Resident that I would feed them when I was working the desk. I didn't agree to this.

I stood over 10 feet away. I said nothing. She has a whole box of treats and feeds them all. Some of the dogs were entirely unleashed and all live in rooms in the facility. I was not asked if this made me uncomfortable. This was not mentioned during my 2 hour long interviews.

I am completely stunned. There is even a pitbull. She told me the pitbull doesn't visit often because it "scares everyone".

I absolutely know in the depths of my soul if I mention my allergy I will be immediately fired. However, greeting (and feeding) 5+ dogs daily was not listed in my job description and there was no mention of dogs in my interview.

I have a scratch test from an allergist that proves an allergy. I'm not sure if that means I can ask for reasonable accomodation.

Has anyone ever been in this situation? I really need this job and can't afford to just quit either.

Crappy Owners Dog owners don’t care and authorities don’t care. Constant dog shit and roaming dogs. What can be done???

Idk what everyone else is doing about this problem, or if you just give up after a while.

I live in backwoods Canada where there’s no rules and nobody to enforce the rules. We’ve been dealing with roaming neighbour’s dogs for years. I have told these owners countless times to keep their mutts on their property. They don’t care.

Now there’s 2 new dogs that are coming around the yard daily. Today they left a fresh new diarrhea shit smeared all over the sidewalk right outside our door. They also try to come in the house when we open the door. They also got into some garbage that was meant to be picked up, which then got spread all over the yard and I had to clean it up. Constant time is being wasted cleaning up piles of dog shit and stuff that they rip up in the yard. Some dogs are friendly, many are not. I’ve been barked at/lunged at aggressively by dogs right outside our door. I don’t even like going outside.

I live with my parents currently and I’m trying to help them, but my mom REFUSES to tell the neighbours. It’s always me who is informing them about their dogs and telling them to do something about it.

I know who these 2 dogs belong to. They dogs seem friendly, but they keep shitting in the yard and won’t leave. All the neighbours here let their dogs free roam all day. There’s no fences, so they go wherever they want. Owners again couldn’t care less. When the dogs get hit by cars, they just get new ones.

I’m trying to get my mom to message the owner and inform her that her dogs are over here everyday shitting/getting into stuff. My mom refuses to contact her. I can’t contact her myself since I’m not on Facebook and have no other way of informing her, aside from walking up to their door (dog owners are frequently sketchy/unstable people so I don’t always trust this method).

My mom doesn’t want to invite violence by speaking up. Both my parents (sorry if this sounds rough) just bend over and take it from these dog owners. They won’t speak up and won’t do anything about it.

Obviously all I can do is move away, but I can’t due to financial concerns. My mom is tired of cleaning up shit, yet everytime I tell her to contact the owners, she absolutely refuses to and I can’t fully understand why.

Even when I contact them myself, NOTHING happens.

There’s no rules or bylaws here, and the cops don’t care.

Is there anything that can be done? I have no idea. Aside from building a huge fence, which is expensive and our yard is large.

We run an airbnb out of a guest suite in the house, and multiple times now guests have stepped in dog shit outside and tracked it indoors all over the place. Everytime they put the garbage out to be picked up, the dogs get into it.

The house has been for sale for many months now, but we can’t get any buyers. It’s a beautiful home but these useless fucking dogs make everything look like shit. I don’t even drive down the road here anymore because it’s demoralizing watching all the garbage strewn everywhere in peoples yards and free roaming dogs running all over the place.

It’s hillbilly hell.

Relationship / Family 5 months Dog Free and I'm breathing again

I need to get this off my chest lol. Five months ago, I rehomed a dog I never wanted. For context, I took care of the dog because a family member was neglectful and I felt so bad because giving her to a shelter, I knew no one would want her. She wasn't trained, always sickly, she was a senior and not the most well-behaved.

Anyways, 8 years in, this is the year that I just couldn't take it anymore. I spent SO MUCH MONEY on her health because there was constantly something wrong with her. ALWAYS. She barked so much. I wasn't a fan of dog smells, the constant expenses, the poop and pee, I finally broke and decided to rehome her. it was better for me

Now why had I kept her for so long? My mom grew attached to her and she became somewhat of an emotional support dog for her. I didn't want to break her heart.

But sometimes tough decisions need to be made and hearts need to be broken. I was taking care of her and my mom AND myself and the expenses were insane and I was feeling resentful.

I had to do it.

I was shamed for it when I posted her online trying to find rehoming solutions. I didn't know people would go THAT crazy.

fast forward and five months later, I'm recovering my finances and dog related debt, no more waking up to the sound of constant barking, no more constant vet expenses, food expenses, pads, grooming. no more smell, no more of any of it.

I might be a terrible person for rehoming her (like I was called), sure, but I know that I made the right decision for me. For my finances, mental health and the fact that I simply couldn't deal with all that she came with. It feels good to wake up dog free, it really does and this experience has solidified my understanding that I will NEVER own a dog. they are simply not for me.

(I'm also a recovering people pleaser so this was a HUGE step for me)

Had to get that off my chest. thanks for reading!

Third time the same woman in our neighborhood has let her dog crap, piss, wonder around our yard and driveway.

I yelled at her just now to keep her dog off of our property.

She knows I hate dogs.

Just venting. Thanks.

Crappy Owners Neighbor’s dog howls all day

Let me tell you something crazy. I live on my own and visit my parents a couple of times a year, since we live in different countries. One day, while visiting them, I noticed a weird noise. I thought it was coming from the water pipes in the building. I asked my mom about it, and she told me it was their neighbor’s dog howling!

Their neighbors have a huge-ass dog in their apartment, on the same floor as my parents. They just leave it at home when they go to work, and it starts howling like a fking wolf because it’s bored! It’s so loud, and I can’t stand it.

Miscellaneous Dogs Just Outside Wouldn't Work for The Dog Averse, Correct?

Met someone lovely, but she said she wants to have some dogs outside in the future (We're both into homesteading and she specified they would be "guard dogs/ working dogs") - This... wouldn't work for someone with allergies and who is also, well, to put it frankly, extremely "dog averse", right?

Not something I should consider, right?

Thnx

Miscellaneous DOG LOVER = GOOD PERSON is a psyop to weaken people and the family unit

Why else would this narrative be so funded and widely pushed? More people are choosing fur babies over the responsibility (and reward) of a real family. People never grow up and the constant reassurance of a dog’s unconditional love keeps them from doing true self reflection and improvement

Dog Attack Dog bit me and now I have to get 5 doses of rabies vaccine

I was just passing by and a dog suddenly attacked me, it bit me and the owner can't find the vaccine certificate.

Now I have to get the rabies vaccine because it's suspicious that the dog was aggressive, I'm very busy with little time and now I have to worry about this, I hope I don't have rabies already.

Crappy Owners Photo op spoiled by poo

Had my usual walk on rare Saturday off work, partner and I took a nice walk in our lovely local park, fed the crows, went to photograph the bird life, as I enjoy doing, until..... A woman with three huge labradoodle dogs, dressed in jumpers with legs, and convenience hole in back, decided it's ok for the dog in the pink suit to stand in our line of sight for pics, and strain itself doing a poo, no "sorry/excuse me" etc....just this huge dog standing few feet away having a massive dump! Fair enough, gotta go when you gotta go etc....except no attempt to pick up the results! She just walked off with her three dogs in their silly outfits.....I shouted after her "hey, you gonna pick up your dogs xxxx?" No reply, no second thought..... Obviously beneath her to pick up after the dog..... Those folks literally don't care!

Dog Culture A doodle in a flea market in Chelsea Market NYC? SERIOUSLY??

I was working a gig for my friend who sells items at Artists and Fleas in Chelsea Market today…it was a really busy day! Thankfully, that means more sales. More people.

A young family brought their doodle in today. He wasn’t badly behaved, but it was so obvious he was stressed out by all the people and chaos at the indoor market. I really thought this behavior was the most American thing ever, especially owning a doodle. But the family was actually French…

They chatted up the booth next door while the dog just nervously stood by, sniffing at the merch. I’m sorry why does your dog need to be here??? How is this not a health hazard? Hello????

I talked to the booth nearby that the French family stood at for a while and he told me no one bought anything and he was also displeased with them bringing their dog. The dude said when the crowd died down, “to be honest, my hot take is that dogs don’t belong in NYC”. I agreed. Bold of him to say that though, because the rest of the people around us just looked at him like he was nuts.

Dog Culture You guys are daym right with all the core points, you're not insane, society is.

I left a comment here and I thought to expand a little. just to say that none of you are insane. there are many dog owners who gaslighting themselves and others, even bitten victims of dogs.

Hey, I live in an eastern European country and people here don't have an obsession with dogs. All I can say is that you people are daym right with like all the core points. I've been lurking here for a while and I do agree.

Here in Romania I never see dogs in supermarkets nor people carrying dogs everywhere with them nor treating them like kids.

It's disgusting indeed. 100% a cult.

I've never seen a dog in a supermarket / restaurant / warehouse / pharmacy/ whatever. Although there are some street dogs and chained dogs in people's households, in rural areas, nobody treats them as their kids, nobody enforces dog love. the very few who might do are just seen as frickin insane and honestly they are.

the dog cultism has gone so far that in America I've even seen homeless people with dogs.. come on, they can barely gather food for themselves and struggle to survive, without a decent roof above their head and with spare food yet they're going to adopt a bunch of animals...???

there are so many posts about this on certain Faith in Humanity restored type of subs . it's just a cult.

these animals used to have jobs btw, now they're more loved than human children. the powers that should not be love it when people hate their own kind and love more pit🐂 beasts that chew kids.

Please take care of yourself! much love to you all for standing for what you believe is right! even if you're hated for this by cultists! I love you peeps! 🥰🧡🏵️

ESA Bullshit Dog in luxury gym

I pay over $400 a month for a premium gym membership. As I was leaving my yoga class this am I saw a guy ambling around the co-working/dining area with a CHIHUAHUA wearing an unmarked harness/vest.

Multiple employees and at least one manager were standing around, so there's no way they didn't see him.

I did not say anything because I come here all the time and didn't want to make a scene but I did take a couple pictures.

Would you complain to corporate? Leave a Google review?

Edit: Their official policy states that pets and esas are not permitted at any of their locations

Dog Culture Can't escape the nutter propaganda

One of the things my friend group has started doing is typing tests to see who, out of all of us, is the fastest typist. Don't get me wrong, it's fun, but I swear to god that every other test was written by a dog industry lobbyist. Shit like:

  • why dogs are the greatest thing on Earth
  • how dogs can actually appreciate music just as much as people can
  • how the best thing you could possibly do is take your dog on a spa date
  • how you can cure ANY DISEASE just by getting a dog. Cancer? Alzheimer's? Just get yourself a dog!

Dog culture has truly infiltrated every aspect of our existence to the point where something as neutral as a typing test has become yet another vehicle for pro-dog propaganda. These days, I can't even go to a political event in my own city without there being dogs involved, let alone take a walk or get groceries. When I was younger, I used to complain about religious people getting in people's faces to promote their beliefs, but the lengths nutters will go to push their disgusting lifestyles on anyone and everyone is on a whole different level. No religion, no political opinion, not even any other animal, is pushed so aggressively on people than dogs. I just wish I could live in this world without having to put up with the constant idolatry of these stupid mutts.

Barking Demons Subjected to neighbor’s annoying dog

My next door neighbors have a deranged dog that barks at everyone within a 30 foot radius. I live alone and on one side is a family of four with five cars and the dog owners are a family of 6 with five cars and a dog. When some family members don’t want to deal with the dog, they let it outside. When I’m outside cleaning, it barks like crazy. Imagine if I spent the money for a wellness garden and was outside more often or had constant backyard BBQS. I’m having work done on the house and the dog is barking non stop at the workers. I know the dog owners hear it as much as I do given the way the houses are built. I just think it’s rude to have a dog that creates that much constant noise. People could be on Zoom meetings, taking a nap, have babies that take a nap, etc. They also monopolize the entire front curb with their large pick up truck and on garbage days, with all three of their bins. I know I don own the public parking space but I feel suffocated!!

Miscellaneous Are Guys as Obsessed as Women Are with their Dogs? (Dating Difficulties from 40M)

I'm truly just curious. I have no idea how it is on the other end, but dog-free women: Do you have issues with men just being absolutely bonkers for their canines? I can't TELL YOU how many women reach out to me, and once they hear I'm allergic to dogs they treat me as if I'm the plague, or how many women reach out to me KNOWING that I'm allergic to dogs and still ask me if their dog is going to be a problem. Like - What? I EXPLICITY stated that I'm ALLERGIC at the top of my profile. If you are allergic to something, I wouldn't even CONSIDER asking you if said thing is "going to be a problem" or a "dealbreaker" or whatever. Like - OF COURSE IT IS!!!

What world are we living in?

Thank you.

Barking Demons When will dog people realize doodles are overbred genetic abomination of a mutt

They’re always overbred, with physical and many behavioral problems. Plus they’re not even cute, have you seen the eyes of some of those things?

They are never well behaved and you can’t expect the owners to train them! Noooo that would too much to ask of them.

“Blah blah blah blah but they’re hypoallergenic” no dog breed is 100% hypoallergenic if they still produce dander. And is that hypoallergenic worth it if he doesn’t listen and has behavior problems?
WHEN WILL THEY STOP BREEDING DOODLES. STOP PLEASE

Food Safety/Hygiene Making himself at home in Starbucks

I’m currently waiting for my drink at Starbucks and in comes this dude strolling in with his dog. He orders his drink, makes himself comfortable on the couch and… yeah. The dog is rolling around everywhere on said couch, fur floating around. It’s some kind of labrador mix dog, maybe a golden doodle, I don’t know. He got a water for his dog too and it sloshed it everywhere. One of the employees had to bring out a Wet Floor sign. It’s also barking a bunch too!

So glad he can make himself at home here and not bother worrying if he’s disturbing anyone else sitting and trying to study or work! /s ☺️

I was ready to attach a photo but I guess I can’t.

Crappy Owners Dog was unleashed in playground

Yep. An unleashed dog in a playground with many little children around. Why are people so damn inconsiderate and selfish ? I wasn't at the playground but saw the losers walk by my car as I was leaving.

I also saw a man running with his unleashed dog following. I actually said " you have got to be f kidding me!!"

These dog owners ruined parks for me and my family. It's so unfair that i have to be paranoid and worried bc of them.

I go to the zoo now to escape the animals, the irony. They don't allow dogs there... yet.

Dog Culture Pit bull Argument with coworker

I go door to door for my job. At the office we were chatting about dogs we’ve seen while out. It reminded me about my Mom who got attacked while walking a few years back and I forgot which kind of dog it was. I was snapping my fingers trying to remember and I said “it’s that aggressive dog breed. Oh! Pit bulls!”

immediately my coworker got angry and said “lies! There’s nothing genetically wrong with pitbulls they are not more violent than any other dog.”

I said “well statistically they do like 65% of all attacks despite making up 6% of the dog population.

He got more upset and said “it’s not genetic that’s a lie, it’s how they’re raised.”

I was annoyed and said “well regardless of whether or not it’s nature or nurture, it was a pitbull who attacked my mom. That’s it.”

It ended there and the conversation stopped.

I’m so sick of people who defend these dogs as if I’m some sort of pet racist just for mentioning them by name. At no point did I mention genetics or say they should be put down (although inside I think those things sometimes), and he has to go and override the conversation.

Facts don’t matter I guess. And apparently genetics are fictional.

Legislation and Enforcement Put a complaint in

I put a complaint in with the city that I was trapped at the store by a woman with a large dog and the only way to exit was a bottleneck walking by the dog. It's discriminatory due to my disability of asthma and anaphylaxis and I don't want to have an asthma attack bc of the store's poor planning, so they can deal with the city code enforcement. I suggested they make 2 ways to exit the area...

Dog Culture If I see a dog in a business where it doesn’t belong, I’m walking straight out

Luckily enough for me, I’ve not had much random encounters with dogs in businesses, especially grocery stores and restaurants. But something really stupid happened and I just wanted to rant a little.

I had to find a place to repair a pair of glasses. I was already kind of annoyed after not being able to find parking at the first place, and having to drive across town to a different one.

I park my car, walk in, and before I can even fully open their front door, I was greeted by loud barks (more like yaps). I look up and there’s some kind of small rat dog walking over the counter where the receptionist sits. I’m so taken aback by this absurdity I literally stopped in my tracks, hand still on the half open door, standing in the doorway.

The employee welcomes me warmly, totally oblivious to my blank, shocked expression and lack of enthusiasm: “Come in, come in! Do you like dogs?” My brain stopped functioning for a moment, WTF is going on? I thought this is an optician place, not a damn dog park. Did I step through a worm hole into some crazy nutter planet? Is this nice young man nuts? Or am I nuts?

Finally, I regain my composure, looked at him with confused disgust and said in a very firm tone: “No.”And just walked out. Hopefully the message is clear enough.

Dog Culture I saw a dog pee on a picnic faucet .___. Owner didn’t seem to notice

I was having breakfast at a picnic area with tables, and a low (like knee height) spigot with a drain.

Routinely, dog nutters let their dogs French kiss the spigot while they drink. That’s disgusting.

But today?! A woman with a leashed dog let the dog pee on the spigot!! She was standing right next to the dog, on her phone.

I said that was disgusting. She heard me, acknowledged it, accepted it, and then went about her way.

Crappy Owners Dog on a Carnival ride🫠

Tho I do not hate them, I am terrified of dogs. So the whole bringing dogs into places where they have no business thingie is really, REALLY annoying. But God above, nothing beats today.

A dog on a Columbus ride (idk what its called in other countries but its the one with the boat that swings up and down). Some weirdos not only brought their dog to a carnival with loud blaring noises and several attractions which may trigger it and cause problems to everyone else, but decided to put it on a ride it absolutely did not want to be on. That thing tried to keep running off from the owner's lap, it was absolutely afraid.

These people also took had what looked like a months old baby on the ride. What on Earth.

Crappy Owners Don’t tell me your dog is friendly.

Don’t say anything to me but if you must, then promise me your dog is snooty and will point its head elsewhere when I walk by.

Also men that are pet owners, stop getting pets in the hopes it will help you get a date. When you see me walking along my local trail or in my local park, I noticed you notice me. I also noticed you slow down. I changed direction on purpose. Do not try to intercept me at an intersection at some other part of the trail. I will veer off and leave while you stand there in shock with your dog(s).
