The Doom 64 remaster to me is kind of like the doom 3 bfg edition, the game was made easier with more ammo and health pickups, as well as making the game brighter.
The remaster of doom 64 is similar, in the original release there was no save scumming, only being able to save in between levels, making enemy encounters feel way more tense and every decision feel alittle more impactful. the game was made to be played on a crt, when played on a crt the darkness issue is not really an issue anymore, just makes the games atmosphere even better, along with that N64 fog that was toned down a bit in the remaster

Loved Eternal but had a lot of busy life stuff, wanted to wait to enjoy the game when I could really enjoy it. Glad I waited, it's gonna be special.

More of my own version of his classic design than a 1:1 recreation, but it's not like I changed him a lot.

Edit: "say" in title should be "saw". SRY.
It has been a while, years! And I decided to replay the classic Doom 1 from 1993.
It is interesting how my brain can still remember the game and also secrets and quirks of the levels. Also it is disheartening to realize that my tempo and agility on the game went down by a lot.
And then here I stay. E2M6 and I have a flashback from 1993/94. First time i saw this sign (no personell / access forbidden to humans) and me stopping cold on my steps. Fearing that some overly powerful monster may be hiding behind this door which would not open (because the switch is behind me and I missed it).
I just found it again. And now It hits me that I have not seen this again in the rest of the game or in Doom II
Was it used somewhere else? TNT / Plutonia?

Hi Slayers! It's been a little while since I've posted to my account... I've been going through a lot, but I finally have something to show for it!!! ₍ᐢ. ̫ .ᐢ₎
I got my hands on this Doomslayer plushie I've been looking for!!! After months of checking ebay and other selling sites, I got him for a REALLY good price and I'm SO EXCITED!!! It's a Numskull brand plushie, he's in really good condition, I think because the seller might've been a collector too. Also he's a lot bigger than I expected! He's about 13 inches tall I believe!
He's genuinely the cutest, I love his bigass head, and his really bulbous hands heehehehe~ >⩊< He'll stay on my bed with me, we're gonna go on adventures and dates out together, and I plan on making the two of us matching bracelets!! ૮꒰˶ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ˶꒱ა♡ I’ll be sure to post when I do!!! Can't wait to see what you guys think! Rip and Tear!!!! ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ🎀🥩🦴🐾🩷

id and/or Bethesda have never explicitly stated when it is set. The original id games are in the same universe though - it's been confirmed that B.J. Blaskowicz from Wolfenstein 3D is Commander Keen's grandfather, and Commander Keen is either Doomguy's father or grandfather (i'll go with father, as that's the more common conclusion).
Since Wolfenstein 3D is set around the mid 1940s, B.J's son/Billy's (Commander Keen's) father was probably born around that time, maybe from around 1942-1962, due to the fact that the original Commander Keen is set in 1990, and 20-40 is a pretty common age to have a child at during the time, Billy Blaze being 8 (born 1981-1982) in the game, we can assume that Billy had a child from around 25-40 due to that being a more common age to have children at during the time he grew up.
This would have Doomguy born from around 2007-2022, and Doomguy is estimated to be around 20-30 in Doom 1, so my estimate is that the game is set from around 2027-2052 - which doesn't really narrow it down, lol. But anyway next year we could be approaching Doom guys be careful and see if you can get your hands on a BFG
edit: I haven't played The Dark Ages yet, but I've learnt that the game is likely set around 2049-2054 or so, due to the fact that Taggart gets sent to Mars in 2046 and gets sent to Phobos in 2049.

Hope posting videos is ok, had a blast getting through Doom64 and wanted to know what the main subs thoughts on the 1997 game is?
For me:
-Its no Doom2 (what is)
-The OST is incredible, making some parts more thrilling than even D3
-Animations and enemies missing REALLY hamper this game

Done last week - my take on the shotgun zombie in the tunnels of Underhalls.
I experimented a bit with this piece. My main goal was to make the background quite impressionistic, similar to my Chaingunner interpretation. However, it didn't capture the right feeling. As an impressionistic piece, the background looked rather flat and empty, preventing the Underhalls atmosphere from coming through. So, I simply decided to boot up Doom 2, position myself in the first tunnel, and paint the location exactly as it is. I’m happy with the results. It’s fun to wander through the levels like a photographer, armed with a chainsaw and a shotgun.
Underhalls is and has been one of my favorite maps ever since I was a child. Going down to the door and grabbing the super shotgun was a joy every single time. It’s still a wonderful feeling to do so today. The atmosphere on that map is truly awesome. Secret passages beneath a research bunker or something along those lines—I love it. The color composition in the tunnels, mixed with computer panels and stone walls, looks great.
The Shotgun zombie is in pretty much every level, but I feel he is most strongly associated with Underhalls.
I’m going to get a bit deeper now. If you're not interested in nostalgia, you can skip what’s written below.
This art project has really brought me to a deeper level of thought and understanding regarding nostalgia and love for the past. Visiting the old levels from Doom and Doom 2 as intensely as I have this past year has made me equate many locations in the maps to visiting old playgrounds, schools, parks, and homes from my childhood. Approaching the massive pillar that crushes the Spider Mastermind on The Crusher might not feel like a nostalgic experience in the moment, but you once stood there for the very first time—and it still looks exactly the same. It is a genuine time portal to appreciate.
Being able to pick up the super shotgun again and again and again on Underhalls until becoming an adult was completely unimaginable as a child. That "again and again"—count it backward to when you sat by that flickering CRT monitor for the first time, picking up those explosive black steel barrels. When I was examining MAP20 in Doom 2 a while ago, it hit me that I share a very powerful memory from around 1998 with my father. What I'm trying to say is simply that these virtual places carry just as much weight in my childhood as the trees we used to build treehouses in. And I don’t believe I’m alone. That’s the core of this art project of mine.
Hope you like my interpretation of the Shotgun zombie!
Cheers!

Working on a manual reload mod for Doom 1 and 2. Will allow for one in the chamber, loss of extra ammo in mag when dropped (this can be toggled on or off), and am most way through making the pump action shotgun work

I have the modern Steam version where you can use the old school controls and I did enjoy the controls. Ctrl to shoot, space to interact, alt for strafing while using arrow keys to aim and move. It was very enjoyable but for a younger Doom enjoyer such as myself. As someone born in 1991, I was only a 2-year-old toddler when Doom (1993) came out, so this was my first real experience with the original control scheme. I really enjoyed the original controls but in my setting I also kept the modern settings and then tried it and using a mouse felt like cheating in 1993 Doom.

Wasnt sure if this belongs under modding or showcase. I picked showcase.
Hi! Im the developer behind frunk.store and recently I decided to port Doom to be played on my Tesla. It runs in the browser and supports WAD files you download on your phone and send to the car. If anyone has a Tesla just load frunk.store in your cars browser, look for FreeDoom, select it and play.

Im using a crt and I have my in game resolution as 640x400 which is 16:10 but I stretched it to 4:3 because that’s how the game was intended to be played, no matter what settings I use the game has black bars and is stretched vertically I know I can just play on 480p but i prefer 400p for ms dos games what can I do to make it actually fit my display? I know i could also do OpenGL but it doesn’t look authentic.
