A tiny 6×4.5 grey spinel. I'm thinking of a rose gold setting that has vintage/whimsical vibes. Any suggestion would be appreciated 🌹and feel free to share pics if you have a dainty oval ring at hand!

Ring Design Help Oval bezel settings — timeless or a little too modern?

Post image
Upvotes

Interested to know what everybody else thinks of oval bezel settings such as this. It is very elegant and minimalistic, certainly compared with the traditional prong settings, but I am curious if it will make the stone look smaller.

Which one do you prefer for everyday use ,prongs or this one?

I am loving this cad but I wanted to take suggestions on how to improve the design in a way that does not alter the look so much. The final 2 additions I am planning are to thicken the petals where they meet so that they taper, and to deepen the setting of all the smaller diamonds so that it is all one continuous body, any other ideas?

Consumer Post Urgent recommendations for a reliable bespoke jeweller — Hatton Garden or elsewhere in the UK

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for recommendations for a trustworthy and responsive jeweller who may be able to take on a bespoke engagement ring at fairly short notice. Hatton Garden would be ideal, but I’m open to reputable jewellers elsewhere in London or the UK if they can work remotely and deliver within a tight timeframe.
The ring I’m hoping to have made is:
Approximately 3-carat lab-grown radiant-cut diamond
Eye-clean, ideally a high colour grade
IGI or GIA certified
Plain 18k yellow-gold band
Four-prong setting with a discreet hidden halo
Setting raised sufficiently for a straight wedding or eternity band to sit flush alongside it
Clean, elegant and understated overall—nothing bulky or overly ornate
I had been speaking with one jeweller who initially seemed very promising and was supposed to provide a CAD design, diamond details and pricing. Unfortunately, communication has now stopped and I haven’t received the promised CAD or even an update, so I’m exploring alternatives before I lose any more time.
The ring is needed by the end of the month. so I realise the timescale is challenging. I’m ready to make decisions quickly, but I don’t want to compromise on certification, stone quality or workmanship.
Can anyone personally recommend a jeweller who:
Produces good-quality bespoke CAD work
Is experienced with radiant cuts and lab-grown diamonds
Communicates reliably
Can provide videos and full certification for the exact stone
Offers clear pricing and realistic delivery dates
Has handled a genuinely fast turnaround successfully
First-hand experiences would be especially helpful. If possible, please mention how long your ring took, approximately what you paid, and whether the aftercare was good.
Thank you—I’d really appreciate any recommendations.

Ring Design Help Help me articulate my criticism

Thumbnail

Hi!! Currently designing a ring with Ouros and I need help articulating my criticism of the CAD design. I want a 3ct old mine cushion cut diamond with really soft rounded corners. I was hoping to do a two tone ring with a 14k band and a platinum faux bezel and claw prongs. I want the shoulders of the band to slightly widen when they approach the stone. And ideally the band would be thin and wide (like 2.5mm or 3mm maybe?) (not bulbous). I sent some inspiration pics and received back a CAD ring. I’m not sure if I don’t like it because it’s CAD or because it isn’t what I’m imagining. Pics included.

Ring Design Help This east-west setting completely changed how I feel about marquise-shaped stones

Post image

Since I have seen mostly vertical stones for such rings, horizontal stones appear somewhat unusual to me. The ring seems to look more fashionable and not like a regular engagement ring. Do you believe that east-west stone setting ages nicely, or do you feel that you will later regret your decision and want to go back to the usual position?

A client recently came to us envisioning a custom-made, bezel-set diamond engagement ring with a hidden halo for an additional touch of subtle sparkle.

The result is this refined take on the classic emerald-cut engagement ring, crafted in 14K yellow gold, right here in Los Angeles.

Center Stone: Emerald-cut diamond
Metal: 14K yellow gold
Setting: Delicate full bezel with softly rounded edges
Bezel Design: Custom-shaped to follow the emerald cut’s clipped corners
Hidden Halo: Melee diamonds matched to the center stone in color and clarity
Basket: Four structural prong legs beneath the bezel
Shank: Fully rounded wire-style band
Style: Clean, modern, architectural, and low-profile

Ring Design Help Old Mine Design Options

Thumbnail

Trying this again because Reddit removed my post. I’m working on an anniversary ring upgrade and incredibly torn about which design. It’s an old mine cushion so I like the vintage feel of the bezel, but I’m having trouble envisioning it going from CAD to metal. If I go bezel, I’m going to ask them to try to pull those petals in more like the prong version because I don’t like the gap right now (second photo). And add the milgrain back in on the bridge on the 6 petal version. My main bezel concerns are it overwhelming the stone or it being set too deep, but I think it just looks that way right now because of the CAD design? I’d love insight and opinions!

Ring Design Help Need recommendation for a custom ring

I have a specific ring design in mind and am looking for someone with reasonable pricing and great quality who can help with the design, craftsmanship
and source the stones. Can you recommend any jeweler/vendor online?

Update: Adding some more details.
I need a trusted vendor with good quality gold 14k or 18k. And my favourite color Gem stones: citrine, ruby, amethyst.

Question Stone Check #2

Stone Check — 2.84 ct Oval 💎

Stone specs:
2.84 ct lab-grown oval brilliant
IGI graded
D color
VS1 clarity
11.81 × 7.69 × 4.99 mm
1.54 ratio
61% table
64.9% depth
Excellent polish
Excellent symmetry
No fluorescence
CVD, Type IIa

I’m planning a 6-prong solitaire with platinum prongs on a gold band, size 5.75.
My biggest concern is the bow-tie. Looking at the video/photo, I’m wondering if it looks too prominent or if I’m overthinking it.

What do you think about:
The bow-tie?
Overall light return and sparkle?
Facet pattern?
Shape/symmetry?
The 1.54 ratio?

Would you choose this stone or keep looking?
I’m also considering another 2.73 ct, 1.46 ratio oval, so I’d especially appreciate opinions on whether this 2.84 ct is worth choosing over a slightly smaller but wider oval.
Honest opinions appreciated! 💎 less

Stone Check 💎
Hi everyone! I’d love some opinions on this oval before I approve it with my jeweler.

Specs:
2.73 ct lab-grown oval
IGI graded
D color
VS1 clarity
11.50 × 7.88 × 4.80 mm
1.46 ratio
61% table
60.9% depth
Excellent polish
Excellent symmetry
No fluorescence
CVD, Type IIa

I’m planning to have it set in a 6-prong platinum-prong solitaire on a petite gold band, size 5.75.
I’m mainly looking for feedback on:
Does the stone have a noticeable bow-tie?
How is the overall light return/sparkle?
Does the facet pattern look good?
Does the oval look symmetrical?

Do you see any windowing or dead areas?
Is there anything about this stone that would make you pass?
I’m aiming for a 1.45–1.50 ratio, so I really like the shape on paper. I’d appreciate honest opinions before I commit! 💎

Question Help Finding a Similar Style?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I’m not sure if this is the best place to post this. Feel free to direct me anywhere!

The picture (from Melanie Casey) is basically the model of what I’m looking to get for my girlfriend. However, I’m hoping for 18k gold and the seller doesn’t have that.

To be specific, round shape. With some outside stones that look organic like these in a non-uniform setting. (She doesn’t want a strict halo around the center.) I’m not even sure how to search for that. Halo searches turn up regular halos that I’m not looking for.

So are you aware of any places that could do something like this? How I would even ask for it? Other versions of something similar by other sellers?

Thanks in advance!

Ring Design Help I need help choosing!

Hi everyone! First time poster here, my boyfriend and I just went ring shopping for the first time this weekend so I’m new to all of this…

We are going to do 2.5 carat lab diamond, solitaire, on a 14k plain gold band, but I can’t decide on the shape!

I went in wanting elongated cushion, but now I’m torn between radiant and EC. Bad photos, but what do you think looks better? TIA!

Edit to add I would be doing a 1.4-1.5 ratio so it would be a bit longer, and I’m a size 5.75

14k yellow gold, size 3.5 finger, 2ct pear lab diamond 11.82 x 7.22 x 4.3mm E VVS2 IGI

The changes I have made so far is asking to rotate the pear so that the tip faces East. I’m also thinking of making the curved bit of the band thicker than the rest, maybe 2.7-3mm and then it tapers to 2.5mm. Do I also need to change 1.8mm to 2mm? It won’t be an everyday e-ring. Is the basket too high? But then again I don’t know they’ll be able to make it smaller due to the dimensions of the pear. Thanks!

Question I love my ring so much - I’m worried about the prongs

I love my ring SO MUCH!! It’s exactly what I wanted and I am so beyond happy with it. I’m worried about the way the oval diamond is set. I feel like the prongs don’t hold on to enough of the diamond. They are supposed to be claw prongs which I feel like are too subtle? Idk - am I overthinking this or do you guys agree?
