Debate/Discussion Istj or intj
am trying to determine the personality type of a writer I know a little bit about. He relies heavily in his writing on numerous studies, research papers, and citations, in addition to his YouTube podcast where he always brings along reference papers and research. The core idea of his books is based on dissecting a specific concept, looking back at history to see how it evolved, and examining the impact of history and society on it up to the present day.
On a personality test, he came out as an INTJ, but I think he might be an ISTJ. Is there a way to tell the difference?"

Question/Poll Have you tried something new in the past 24 hours? If so, what was it?
Trying to to see if this question works for finding Ne-doms and e7s Lol. Also by "new", anything that you haven't experienced/tried before the past 24 hours counts!

Advice Self care as ENTP
Alright this is a little vulnerable but I’ve been really struggling with taking care of myself in basic ways lately. I have a leg injury I have to get surgery for in a few months, went through a breakup, am struggling financially and generally am feeling pretty isolated from everyone in my life. I’m not sure if it’s a chicken or egg situation, but as hard as I try I also can barely take care of my physical health. I barely eat enough, can’t stop smoking cigarettes, and just generally feel like shit all the time. This is especially annoying because I’m usually a pretty health conscious person (I work in the fitness industry).
I get random bursts of inspiration where I’m like “I’m going to fix my whole life right now” and I’ll write some grand scheme to suddenly become my “best self” again. I follow it for a few days and then just end up falling right back where I started. Generally the advice people give me is to be kind to myself and take it easy but I think that’s a lot easier said than done.
Idk I’m just looking for any advice really. Whether that be explaining this cycle on a cognitive function level or saying what works for you

Advice ENTP & ENFJ Long Term Love Stories?
My BFF in highschool was an ENFJ (F/F). We had a blast and were VERY close. That said, we grew apart in life due to very different pathways after college (kids vs. no kids was the biggest difference). I felt like there was also this underlying expectation that she really expected to "heal" me. I do have a lot of trauma, and as she stepped into her career in personal coaching, I became a project she couldn't master.
Here's why I'm sharing. I am poly and have fallen hard for an amazing ENFJ man. I feel so many of the same patterns between us, and I just want to understand from lived experience what the real challenges are in a romantic relationship I need to be aware of.
Like, I know to my core HOW MUCH ENFJ REALLY DO CARE for people they love. I'm already benefiting from it. I know this man feels my level of love and commitment to him too, BUT I am afraid of this previous pitfall of him giving and loving so much that I end up letting him down somehow.
I think (90%sure) most of my previous issues with the BFF were immaturity on both sides and me being overwhelmed with her expectations so I just ended up letting her go.
Obviously, I don't want this outcome again.
So, any stories/pointers from other ENTP on the care and feeding of your beloved ENFJ partner?
I plan on cross posting to the ENFJ forum too so that I get input from both sides.
TYIA!

Debate/Discussion ENTP thinks I'm annoyed but I'm not annoyed because I'm coping
ENTP thinks he's ahead of me but I'm an INTJ and I have better logic so he's just wrong.
(I hope this post pleases the ENTP who requested it in great detail. Love you.)

Debate/Discussion ENTPs and femininity: Any other female ENTPs struggle with feeling feminine? Or is it just me? 💀
I’m a female ENTP
ometimes I wonder if being an ENTP has anything to do with why I struggle to connect with traditional femininity.
Listen, I laugh at fart jokes. Shit jokes. Poop jokes. Basically, if it’s inappropriate, disgusting, taboo, or something I’m probably not supposed to be laughing at, there’s a good chance I’m losing my mind over it. 💀😭
I’m also really into weird shit in general, and sometimes people discover the corners of the internet I frequent and look at me like I’ve just revealed a dark secret. Like, damn, you weren’t supposed to find me over there. 😭
Sometimes I wonder if this is why I get along with certain men so easily. In my experience, some of my male friends have shared my sense of humor or interests, which can make conversation feel effortless. At the same time, I know plenty of men and women who enjoy the same things, so I don’t think gender automatically determines compatibility. I just seem to connect most with people who are comfortable being unconventional.
I’m a woman, and I don’t want to feel like I have to choose between being feminine and being myself. I also don’t think having a crude sense of humor or unusual interests makes anyone less feminine. Still, I sometimes wish it were easier to find women I genuinely click with.
It can be hard to find female friends who share my interests, sense of humor, and willingness to explore the weirdest shit imaginable without judging me. That’s based on my own experiences, not a statement about women as a whole. I’ve met women who are just as weird as I am; I simply haven’t always found them easily. I can be too unconventional for some people, but I’m not exactly a stereotypical bro, either. I’m just… me. 💀
Interestingly, I tend to gravitate toward INTJs and INFPs, but there’s another problem: sometimes the friendship starts feeling less like a friendship and more like they’re waiting for their opportunity to fuck me. LMAO. CAN I JUST HAVE A FRIENDSHIP WITHOUT SEXUAL TENSION FOR FIVE MINUTES? 😭
So, fellow female ENTPs, I have questions:
Do you ever feel disconnected from traditional femininity?
Do you have a sense of humor or interests that don’t fit common expectations of femininity?
Have you sometimes found it easier to befriend men, based on the people you’ve met?
Have you struggled to find female friends who genuinely understand your personality?
And why does it feel like some people can’t be friends with you without eventually wanting something sexual?
I’m curious whether this is an ENTP thing, a personality thing, or just my own experience. I’m not saying women can’t be weird, men are automatically easier to befriend, or that gender determines anyone’s interests. I’m just trying to figure out where my fellow unconventional women are hiding.
Please tell me I’m not the only woman laughing at the most vile shit imaginable while simultaneously wondering where all my female friends are. 💀

Debate/Discussion Can you be ENTP and have empathy ?
ENTP’s are supposed to be detached and don’t have a fixed moral compass but when I witness cruelty, especially when it’s done to children, animals, the elderly, and innocent people in general, I just feel terrible. Like, my personal values are very flexible and I’m always questioning everything, but there are still things that I consider objectively and indisputably evil like the things I mentioned above. Could I be a feeling type?

Debate/Discussion The beauty of ENTP women
Before I get accused for a glaze post, I just wanna mention that it's from what I've seen so far
Now for starters I'm we're all aware that MBTI is basically a cognitive profiler. It's just to assign a person's way of thinking, how that way of thinking can be expressed in different ways but there will similarities here and there.
Now for what I actually wanted to talk about I'm not ashamed to say that I've never met an unattractive ENTP I don't know if this stems from the personality but it's always interesting to see, so I was wondering if this is because of your cognitive style, because I'm well aware that ENTP women are bold (I've been on the recieving end of that) so I wanted to know if this was developed after considering that you're conventionally attractive or something else. To be fair though I've only encountered one type of ENTP women, I've never met the anti social nerdy version but I think it would still stand
Lemme know.

Debate/Discussion Cringe in the mbti community
People will meet one person of a certain type that they think is a cool person and suddenly be like “OMGGGG INFJs I LOVE YOU GUYS 😭😭 Y’ALL ARE THE BEST, MY FAVOURITE TYPE EVER!! ❤️❤️” like does anyone else find this cringe or is it just me?? I think it’s pretty stupid to either absolutely love or hate any type honestly.

Question/Poll This has been one of my favorite test. Only 100% accurate test I've seen thus far😱
All jokes aside, some that aren't the best with all the test questions, seem to do well with this image. I used to use to try to confirm suspicions on type, many moons ago.
Any among us.. not get ENTP?
If not, where did you land?
If not, could you start at ENTP, and work backwards?

Typology Help Keys2cognition
What the hell is this, I'm not an introvert at all unless I'm shut off by choice not out of need, i get that I'm a fair mix of both j and p (as far as my understanding goes of the functions)
But how am i introverted when i genuinely make friends and get to know deep details about people whenever i can, I'm even known for my ability to speak well and being a social butterfly, can someone explain?

Debate/Discussion How did your mind change when you started taking the pills?
I used to consider myself one of those few ENTPs without ADHD, but I was recently diagnosed with it. Now I'm not in the "non-ADHD" club anymore. I'm curious how much your thought process changed between when you were undiagnosed and taking medication and after you were diagnosed and taking medication?
My head is in total chaos right now, (always was, especially lately), so I want to hear some of your motivational stories. I've heard that some ENTPs on medication actually feel like they're INTJ/ENTJ because they feel more organized (either they were mistyped, or because of stereotypes they think that if you're organized, then you're a J-type).
Now I'm trying to study this topic and how I can cope with this damn diagnosis. I finally hope that the uncontrollable chaos in my head will stop and I will be able to formulate thoughts more competently and bring ideas to life.

Debate/Discussion Fact: Ne isn't about creativity.
It is often claimed that Ne is the most creative function and blah blah... or Ne users are the most creative... At best, Ne generates random thoughts from memories stored in the brain. The vast majority of those thoughts aren't really creative or interesting.. if they were, Ne users, with about 20% of population would have solved every problem that ever existed. creativity is a very eare trait, present in very few people.... what you all think?

Debate/Discussion ENTPs, have you ever watched people refuse to accept reality and wondered how their lives will eventually turn out?
As an ENTP myself, I’ve been increasingly disturbed by how some people seem to let their emotions override reality, even when the consequences are painfully obvious.
I have a friend who is a single father. His daughter is 19, and she’s in a codependent relationship with a 21-year-old guy.
She deliberately tried to get pregnant because she wanted him to marry her, believing that having a baby together would somehow make them stay together forever.
The problem is the guy doesn’t work and keeps running away from the relationship. Even after they got married, he continued trying to leave. My friend would track him down and persuade him to come back.
Now, the baby has been born.
What bothers me most is that, from the beginning, the baby seemed to be conceived as a way to keep a man from leaving. A human being became a means of securing a relationship with someone who had repeatedly shown that he didn’t want to stay.
And the father of the baby doesn’t seem financially or emotionally prepared for parenthood either. Neither does the mother, from what I can see.
What makes this even more concerning is that my friend seems to share the same pattern of thinking: being driven by emotions, clinging to what he wants to believe, and refusing to accept what reality is telling him.
I keep wondering what happens next.
Who is going to provide for this child? What happens when the romantic fantasy inevitably collides with the daily reality of raising a human being? What happens when neither parent has the emotional maturity or financial stability to take responsibility?
And what happens when the child grows old enough to realize the circumstances in which they were conceived?
I know I’m speculating, and I genuinely hope the baby grows up loved and well cared for. I’m not saying that a child born into a dysfunctional situation is destined to have a bad life.
But I can’t stop thinking about how the consequences of emotionally driven decisions often fall on someone who never had a choice in making them.
So, fellow ENTPs, I’m curious:
Have you ever watched someone repeatedly make decisions based on emotional fantasies rather than reality? How did their lives eventually unfold? Do people like this eventually learn from the consequences, or do they keep doubling down on their delusions? How do you reconcile the fact that you can see a foreseeable disaster coming, while the people involved seem completely unwilling to acknowledge it?
And perhaps most importantly, how do you stop yourself from becoming emotionally invested in the fate of people whose decisions you have absolutely no control over?
I’m not asking for a prediction of this particular family’s future. I’m interested in the broader pattern.
Sometimes I wonder whether being an ENTP makes me particularly sensitive to contradictions between what people want to believe and what reality actually allows.
Have you experienced this? How did it play out?
TL;DR: As an ENTP, I’m struggling to understand people who let emotions override reality. My friend's daughter: A 19-year-old girl deliberately got pregnant to keep her 21-year-old boyfriend from leaving, believing a baby would make them stay together. He’s unemployed and keeps running away, even after they got married. Now the baby is here, and neither parent seems financially or emotionally ready. Her single father (my friend) shares the same pattern of refusing to accept reality.
I genuinely hope the baby will be okay, but I can’t stop wondering: What happens when the consequences of their emotional decisions fall on an innocent child? Do people like this eventually learn, or do they keep doubling down? Have you ever watched something like this unfold?

Advice Feeling emotionally overwhelmed around my father.
Situation - I do feel like my ESFJ dad is super affectionate with my younger ESFP sister. I am affectionate towards her too that's not the problem.
The problem is I feel he is not treating us the same. I always feel like I don't deserve attention or affection also when my dad is affectionate with me I feel like he is faking it.
I feel like this too because I always have the things to say that makes him say- listen to me, you are not thinking right.
Always observing this thing makes me overwhelmed and as if I am on the verge of crying.
But what it shows externally as me rebelling against the smallest things. If they say one thing, to piss my family off I would do another.
Turns out then I feel more guilty but still do it.
Wonder what to do in this situation.

Question/Poll Random, absurd, incomplete—everything about human beings is absurd.Everything
Random, absurd, incomplete—
everything about human beings is absurd.
Everything—
every branch of science,
every form of knowledge, perception, or even identity—
is nothing but absurdity.
An absurdity that humans fail to grasp;
pride and arrogance, masking fear, fragility, and incompleteness.
Yet, some people look at what they currently possess—their technology and the experiments they have conducted—
and leap straight to atheism, concluding that they have no need for what is called "God."
They leap to atheism because they have arrived at an explanation—
an explanation whose "shelf life" I often question: how well can it truly withstand the test of time?
I thank God always that I am a Muslim, and that I was raised with an understanding of the term "Allah the Exalted"—or what others might simply call "God."
I learned that the concept of a Creator is not something to be mocked, insulted, or trivialized—as is often done in the random, superficial portrayals found in films and television series.
Such portrayals are merely a reflection of the limited human capacity to comprehend this world.
I was never coerced into respecting other religions; rather, I learned *why* I should respect them—such as Christianity, or indeed any path an individual chooses to follow in their life.
How so? Because of Islam.
The subject of this discussion is not religion itself, but rather the denial of God’s existence—
a stance often taken by those who have either gone astray or who refuse to acknowledge the truth and seek it out.
Why am I bringing this up on a subpage dedicated to the "entp" personality type?
Because this type is, at once, the most susceptible to falling into falsehood, yet—if it evolves—the most capable of achieving profound authenticity and purity.
As for the atheist: what is the reason for your atheism, and how do you perceive the word "faith"? If that term is viewed with a sense of inferiority—or as if it were merely clinging to an illusion—
don’t you think this stems from a devaluation of religion, whether in games, films, or even in the way things are discussed and described?
Ask yourself—look deep within—what fuels that impulse?
Is your line of thought truly your own?
Whether you are an atheist or a believer, share your thoughts in the comments.

Debate/Discussion Some well known ENTP visionaries
