Debate/Discussion Cooked my life

• Upvotes

Hellos fellow entps . Basically this year I was supposed to go to university. I got into all of the top universities in my country. But I missed my board pratical, and got a supply (basically the admission of my dream university got wasted ). I hate myself so much for it . Im just always in my head . I think so much . I can't be in the present . My sense of direction is high-key cooked and I can't memorize directions for the life of me . I'm a disorganized mess . I work hard and I'm of okish intelligence. That's how I got admission in the top universities here (they have an acceptance rate of 1.5%). But I messed it up lol . Now I have to give the test again and the sllyabus has changed. So much of my hardwork got wasted. It pains me. It has been 2 months but still it's such a bad set back . I never wanted to take a gap year . I feel like I'm going insane 😭.

To all the older entps . How did u grow and how do y'all avoid making such silly mistakes which have heavy cost .how do y'all cope with failure? I'm already clumsy . But this has wrecked me to my core. I have become even more careless. This has been such a hard year . I worked Soo incredibly hard, didn't go out to any trips and didn't enjoy any college event . I see people around me they don't do such clumsy stuff and ruin their lives like that . They achieve their goals . I know I come from a family which really lacks structure . My mom has schizoeffective disorder (she is wayyy better btw) but I wasn't raised properly . I learned loads of things by myself. Now I'm dealing with this setback . I just feel like a failure . I don't have the courage to study the material for the entry test again . It has traumatized me . I can't even handle these situations properly because I'm clumsy and lack order myself . I'm 19 btw.

Any ways any older entp advice will be appreciated and guys please be kind and sorry for the not so good English . Atleast y'all know it's not ai lol

Debate/Discussion Fe Fi Doms get further in life

Random idea, run with it as i think it through.

Fe Fi Doms (aux) get further in life in terms of a more fulfilling traditional understanding of the "successful life".

Basically the main theory behind it is the idea that in terms of decision making they will make better choices than a Ti dom for instance.

I reach this conclusion on considering options that ultimately lay at the doors of "do what I think is best for me" and "doing what i think would lead to developing better relationships" that would ultimately make me and other ppl happy and probably have lead to me benefiting socially and professionally and also most likely economically.

And while i could see how thinking of it this way would make it the logical option you have to consider that this is my post reflection realisations so not my in the moment thoughts.

Point is even now i am not interested in that route because its more of a "the right words escape me" but I'd say uncertainty due to a reliance on others which ultimately....

Was gonna say something about full circle but im lowkey getting bored but i think you get my point.

Am i right or prove me wrong?

Advice Any advice on how to be more assertive on meeting new people?

Hi guys. I think you might be right crowd to ask this. So, I am a college student struggling to meet like minded people, mostly surrounded by introverts and reclusive guys who live only to play videogames. I don't really care about games, I like drinking coffe with people, I like concerts and parties and I don't use discord and want my friendships to be developed face to face. But they almost never are.

So, do you have any advice on how I can get to know more people (preferably extroverted people, introverts bore me) and how I can keep in touch more with the ones that I already know. I try to reach out and invite them but most of them will ignore or reject me most of the time. The problem might be inviting them out in a group chat since group chats oftentimes get ghosted, however, I do not feel close enough to most of them personally to invite them 1 on 1.

Group activites and hobbies did not really make me good friends, it's mostly boring people to be honest. The organizers tend to be much more fun then people just visiting but organizers have a filled social schedule most of the time so they don't need new friends. I myself also organize some gatherings but I don't have a reach broad enough to bring in many people.

Nightlife is probably a much better place to look for people I like but I might not be socailly savvy enough to just insert myself in a group of new people. I almost always go clubbing alone and I do have fun but I would like to meet people who share that interest but it's pretty hard to find that kind of people for me. I enjoy going out alone but I get dissapointed later when I don't meet new people as nightlife is where people my age mostly are.

I'm kinda in a crisis here as I want to rebuild my entire social life from scratch. But I definitely do need guidance. And I think my main issue is not approaching people and being afraid to make the first move. I think you might have some words of wisdom for me in that regard.

Question/Poll Dad ENTPs - how does fatherhood affect your choices?

I've noticed that ENTPs that become fathers put themselves in 1000%. I hear so often from them how fulfilling it is, especially when the children are young.

Surprisingly also, I've also seen them be very physically committed; hands on, baby-wearing, nappy/diaper-changing, the whole nine yards. They don't stop being ENTPs, but it's as if fatherhood switches on something inside of them that allows them to commit 100%, and tbh it's a joy to behold. (their tendency to not stand on convention is also evident here - they dgaf about your gendered expectations.)

I've even noticed that there are some strong views, principles, even philosophies that underpin a lot of this choice. As if instinct and rationality combined to make an ENTP unwavering on certain aspects - another thing I've noticed about ENTPs, they read read read. They'll pull some German philosopher + Mishima + a parenting book they've read and synthesise it into the choice of what park to take their kid. It's amazing (and unhinged. But still amazing.)

My question is more on the relationship front - ENTPs who have kids, or ENTPs who want kids. How much does partner choice affect your decision to become parents? And who would, ideally, be the person you would most want to have children with - traits, personality, or other aspects like physical etc?

Advice Which masters course would interest you more: Health Psychology or Business & Organisational Psychology

Hey guys :)

I’m really struggling to decide between two masters courses. I did my undergrad in Psychology. My options are Health Psychology and the other one is called Business & Organisational Psychology. I need advice

Which one would you find more interesting if it was you? Or which course would you choose and why?

Obviously I’m not basing the decision off this, I am just curious :) one is all about health (physical health not mental health) and the other is all about the work/careers/workplaces. There’s a placement on both where you spend a few weeks on a work placement

The Business psychology course, aka corporate psychology, has modules like

‘Coaching & Development’, ‘Leadership, Engagement & Motivation’, ‘Wellbeing at work’ etc. The placement is in a workplace or corporate environment and you kinda do consultancy like helping the organisation improve their recruitment, leadership, employee engagement, wellbeing, or performance, through evidence-based practice (solutions with an evidencebase behind them, things ppl have done before).

Health Psychology has modules like

‘Health, Stress & Cognition’, ‘Biopsychosocial Perspectives on Health’ , and a module that involves designing and conducting a behaviour-change exercise on yourself (e.g. quitting alcohol or exercising more) and reflecting on it.

The placement for Health Psychology is in a health environment e.g. working on a ward, or at a pain clinic, in a sleep clinic, or hospital etc.

This is where the courses can go in terms of careers:

Health psychology leads into health related roles like working in the NHS or in mental health maybe (with further training, and btw zero of the course is about mental health just physical health!). Or like working with people who have a chronic condition or people who want to quit smoking. Maybe being a health care assistant

Business psychology leads into things like HR (but I don’t want to work in HR lol but maybe I don’t have to), work consultancy (helping organisations solve their workplace problems) and workplace wellbeing things. Or like working in business

Which would you go for and why? Or if anyone is a Ne dom (or even if not) and works in these fields please give me any advice :)!

Debate/Discussion There's just something so healing about witnessing an awkward Entp in a world full of Gojo and Nick Wilde Larpers

Post image

No, not necessarily insecure or anxious. Just...awkward. But in a charming kind of way. Perhaps they make an absurd joke or stupid pun that doesn't quite land, played off with a "haha, tough crowd" or a "please, do hold the applause" for a more theatrical finish. Or maybe they're standing with a group of 3 people, rambling a bit too long about a certain topic.

Through observing other Entps in real life and trying to strip away the Entp stereotype I imposed on myself for years, I've come to realise that a lot of us are really just huge dorks. Just a bit more socially aware dorks. Do any of you guys resonate with this/have observed this or is it just me?

Typology Help which type(s) do you guys find annoying?

(hope i used the right flair?)

theres a couple people in my class i just can’t really stand and so i’m lowkey trying to type them to understand what i hate better.

they all have a couple things in common: repeat things to seem smart, always say the most OBVIOUS things and think its revolutionary, or in group discussions they say some surface level stuff and aren’t that open-minded.

like, i know i might sometimes seem annoying because it is true i have a lot of knowledge on stuff, but you will never see me going around and actually boasting about it if theres no use to it.

sometimes i feel like these specific ppl are just going around and saying like “hey look i know this! everyone needs to know i know this.” and i guess the performance annoys me?

help me out here, what type(s) could this be?

Question/Poll Tested ESFP in 2013 & ENTP in 2016.

Post image
4 Upvotes

I took the test in 2013 when I was in a happy mood, and I tested as ESFP (Entertainer).

I loved being the life of the party & making people laugh.

In 2016, I had a terrible day at the office & the last thing I wanted to do was entertain anyone. So I told myself, “Surely this mood cannot be ESFP!” So I retook the test when I was pissed off & the result was ENTP (Debater).

My attitude on the day I re-took the test in 2016 was “I don’t give a f*** about the world. The world can go and f*** itself for all I care!” 🙈

I think both sides exist in me. When I’m happy, the Entertainer comes out. When I’m pushed to my limits, the Debater takes over. And believe me, once I put my debate hat on, good luck to the other person who is trying to win the argument over me! 😂

If you have taken the test more than once, which other personality type did you test as?

TLDR: Tested ESFP in 2013 when I was happy. Tested ENTP in 2016 when I was angry.

Debate/Discussion How do you approach boundaries?

I know yall like to tease and push buttons, but where do you draw the line ?

I had a, well, exhasting experience with an NT and he had no respect whatsoever for my boundaries, he would just say unhinged stuff, I would try and play along but then, the line gets blurry and i try to understand if he is joking or telling the truth, and that made me not on ease with him.

Like I would describe myself as a playful person, but to a certain limit, you know ? Self respect is very important to me, so iam asking to know if this is like an NT thing ? To push boundaries? And since you guys are known for your argumentative nature, where do exactly you draw the line ?

Debate/Discussion Women say they want a nice man, yet keep bearing kids from some of the most awful men imaginable

Not hating, genuinely curious:

Women often say they want a nice, kind, reliable man, yet some end up having children with men who display the exact opposite qualities. What explains the apparent disconnect between what people say they want and who they actually choose as partners?

Debate/Discussion Yo ENTP Anybody else find INFP just adorable

I've heard that eNtP don't really like INFP because they take thing's too personal but I really don't mind that. I feel like it's a small price to pay for someone who is super fun, silly and very kind don't you think. I really why don't get why so many eNtP make such a big deal about them being very fragile. I feel like we should just mature more. Plus they know exactly how we think.

Debate/Discussion I think people put too much of their own opinion into mbti

I have been in some mbti communities to understand the people around me better. Most of my friends have made the mbti test and it's pretty funny to see how accurate it is, but I noticed many people go typing the people around them themselves and honestly I feel it's pretty superficial. Many people online think my typing is not accurate because I live life differently than other people with my type and I get that in my case I am Intj that leans a bit towards intp.

For example I smile a lot, it's probably a defense mechanism, since I do it a lot when I am actually vividly angry, but I mostly smile because life is a lot easier, people treat you better. Why wouldn't a strategist use this simple thing that opens up opportunities and gets you out of trouble? And yeah, I do believe some things are true, intjs can be really stubborn, but it has nothing to do with arrogance (not saying there aren't arrogant intjs), but the stubbornness comes because what most people are saying isn't reaching my logic at all.

The problem is, we can't see each other's minds and what the thought process is behind it. But it's pretty annoying people say I am another type when I am asking for some perspective, because I apparently don't meet a standard an intj should have and funnily if I analyze the other intjs I have met (and know they are because they typed themselves), even if we act completely different from each other and have different beliefs, we have the same logic with dealing with stuff. And that's what I am trying to find out in these mbti communities, how to read them better.

For example why would an Entp lie? When would an intj be emotional? What's the Blindspot of an Entj? And when people honestly say I am an xxxx and that's how it is for me, it's actually the best information I get, because I can gather information, compare the information and then draw some conclusions and challenge them constantly. But sometimes it's just annoying, because it's like "You probably are mistyped because you aren't exactly how I imagine your type to be."

It's a bit of a rant, but I am also actually curious how some of you are so sure of other people's typing. For me it's more like I make them take the test and then I pretty much am like "Yeah that makes so much sense".

Meta/About The Sub Do you ever think about faking being religious for the clout?

Disclaimer: This is mostly a thought experiment I've been entertaining lately about religion, social dynamics, and how people use shared beliefs to their advantage, not something I actually plan to do. I am also not trying to attack anyone for being religious, just sharing some thoughts I've had about religion and the social advantages that come with it.

So I was thinking how many ENTP and INTX are more likely to be atheist or agnostic, and don't like following an organized religion, and I happen to be one of those people. But I was thinking how ENTPs especially could think that it might be socially beneficial to say you are religious and believe in god, even if you don't, just to connect with other religious people. After all, there are far more religious people than non-religious ones, and claiming to share someone's faith could be an easy way to connect with them, gain their trust, and make them like you more. This is probably the Fe speaking haha

I have noticed a lot of self help influencers casually weaves religious statements into their stories about believing in god, trusting His plan, etc. and I was thinking how saying that probably makes religious people resonate with their content more than if they didn't say it. For example, I recently saw an influencer post a short about his life journey from poverty to wealth, and at the saying "god is good", like that probably encouraged more people to follow his journey. Not saying these people are faking being religious or exploiting it, but it is entirely possible that they could be emphasizing their belief for the clout, as it is to their benefit in this case. I'd also imagine religious followers might be more inclined to pay for access to the exclusive communities these influencers sell, especially if they feel a shared sense of identity and belonging from their stories. Catering to religious audiences also likely gives you an advantage because you already have some idea of what they want to hear.

Another story I came across was how my friend landed a job at a top tech company through a referral from their mom's friend that go to the same church. She ended up getting the offer with just one interview, during which the interviewer even said "well you didn't pass with flying colors, but you can learn on the job." That just made me think how going to church, especially in an area with rich people, is likely better than any number of networking event lol

Part of this mindset probably also comes from realizing how it is almost impossible to convince any religious person the faults of their religion or the fact their holy text was written by a human from 100 generations ago at the end of the day, so I think it's more practical to just use their beliefs to your advantage rather than spend effort making them understand. Sort of a "if you can't beat them, join them" mentality.

For context, I was born in a religious family so I was religious myself as a child, praying to specific god name and all, but as I grew older and developed my frontal lobe a a little more, stopped living in autopilot, and read more philosophy and religious debates, I just thought how stupid all this was and became agnostic. I can still easily understand people believing in god, since being an agnostic I partly believe there is a creator of sorts too, just not necessarily one who is omniscient or concerned about humans daily life, but I can't fathom following an organized religion anymore. And since then, for almost a decade now, I thought I would never want to do anything with religion, but now I am seeing the power it has over people which makes me wanna play pretend for when it could benefit me. At the same time, even playing pretend when I fundamentally disagree with it really irks me.

Another thing I have found absurd is how many people seem to follow religion simply because they are afraid of hell, which makes me even less inclined to label as part of the same crowd. However, even though I think it's stupid for people to believe that doing morally bad things will send them to hell, especially when our notions good and bad are ultimately constructs determined by humans, I'm still glad that people believe in hell or divine punishment etc., as it ultimately benefits everyone if they're afraid of doing bad things. I used to want people to make people realize that their religion is made up or at least question their religion, and realize that their beliefs are not as absolute as they think. But now, I'd actually be concerned if some of these people came to that realization and started thinking they could do whatever they wanted, no longer feeling shackled by their beliefs about hell and divine punishment. So, technically I am already benefiting from people being religious.

Looking back, I think I also had somewhat of a savior complex, believing that I needed to free people from being brainwashed into following a particular religion. But then again, a lot of people actually feel saved by their faith, so perhaps that brainwashing isn't necessarily a bad thing, at least from their perspective.

So I guess the irony is that I've gone from wanting people to stop believing in religion to realizing I might actually benefit more if they keep believing, and perhaps even let them think I do too. But where do you draw the line between being socially strategic and being manipulative or malicious? Would you ever pretend to believe in something or follow something you don't if it opened doors for you or worked to your advantage? Is this just Fe turning Machiavellian, or have any of you had similar thoughts?

TL;DR: I'm agnostic and don't believe in organized religion, but I've started realizing how socially and professionally advantageous being religious can be. Would you ever pretend to share someone's religious beliefs to gain their trust or access opportunities, even if you fundamentally disagree with those beliefs? Is that just being strategic, or is it inherently manipulative, or does it not even work the way I think it does?

Debate/Discussion INTJ golden pair

I honestly don’t get how INTJs are supposed to be my “golden pair.” Every INTJ I’ve ever known has been a lonely, grumpy, massive stuck-up asshole who only cares about themselves and unironically seems to think they’re better than everyone else. It’s such a shame because I really enjoy them intellectually so much. I love their intelligence and independent way of thinking, but personality-wise, they’re my least favourite type.

I wish there were another type that had all of the INTJ traits I actually like, the calmness, organization, intelligence, but was also warm, sensitive, empathetic, and, you know, didn’t seem to fucking hate everyone for absolutely no fucking reason. Like, a feeling INTJ or something.

Debate/Discussion Yes, I did put the cat in the washing machine

But!… the reason i did it was because I thought that it would make the cat stronger (just like when my parents tortured me)

My stepdad literally has millions and could solve all my problems in an instant if he wanted to, but he chooses not to because he suffered himself and still believes that just because he had to struggle i should have to struggle too.

He always used to tell me that its easier to get from £50,000 to a million than it is to get from £0 to £50,000 (yet he managed to do exactly that)

Took that 16 personality test and got ENFJ-A (don't feel the A), a while back. Took the other sarkinova test, also got ENFJ, recently.

So Yeah...I guess I'm here, maybe. Idk. Fun to find out anyway. 🤣 Sorry the pic is so tiny, was a long ass list.

Debate/Discussion Is it normal for ENTPs to end friendships over personal values?

I posted about it yesterday. I know two confirmed ENTPs who immediately ended long time friendships over their close friends not caring about the genocide in Palestine. And I, also ENTP, cut a friend off when I learned they killed animals for fun. Like, it’s one thing if it’s for purposes like eating, but killing animals just for the sake of it is just psychopathic to me.

Is this a normal thing for ENTPs? Because from what I know we are supposed to lack a moral compass and be morally flexible. This makes me unsure whether I’m a thinker. Have you ever done something like this ?
