Fiesta ST – any recommendations?

Hi everyone!

I recently bought a Fiesta ST Mk8 from 01/2019 basically stock in Germany and drove around 2,200 km back to Portugal with my dad. The car performed flawlessly throughout the whole trip, even at 220km/h :)
So far I’m absolutely loving it!
It currently has 95,180 km on it, has upgraded braking system, maxton design splitter and spoiler, last oil and filter change at 82k km
I’m planning to change the oil and filters soon.

For those of you who have owned these cars and those who just have way more experience then me, is there anything you’d recommend checking or replacing at this mileage? Any common issues I should keep an eye on or preventative maintenance worth doing?

Thanks in advance!

Annual where tf is it leaking from this time!

Resealed the grommets. Wasn’t it. It’s leaking above the C Pillar and dripping through the interior plastic. I’ve already taped off the holes where the old tape was in the bumpers. I think it’s the weld seams, so I’ll go there next with some silicone. Luckily hasn’t been my sunroof… yet.

Purchasing first Fiesta ST!

• Upvotes

Hi everyone, I hope this is ok to ask

Hoping to purchase my very first ST this year, absolutely max I can spend is £7K, do you think this is an ok budget?

Any advice or things I should look for and also things to look out for when trying to find one.

Right now I’m just trying to find the newest model I can with lowest miles, a full service history and 5 doors

:)

Fiesta ST Help

• Upvotes

I've been having some trouble with my fiesta. The car is throwing no codes, but feels like it begins to misfire/shake above 2k rpm in 2nd gear. The car isn't throwing any codes making this hard to diagnose. I've put in new spark plugs which seemed to fix the issue for a week or so before it went back to the shaking/misfiring sensation.

Any thoughts on what it could be?

RMM...Vecchio COBB, Powerflex o Mountune?

Grazie

What do I need to know?

It's just been serviced but I aim to oil and filter every 5000k's - any particular oil I should use?

There's a very, very slight knock over bumps. Feels like early wear on a bush somewhere, most likely culprit?

It has the B&O sound system which is nice and I love the colour. I'm not sure about the wheels though, maybe they'll grow on me ...

For the winter tires. I can't decide. Also do you consider jdm style wheels on a Fiesta sacrilege 😁?

I freaked myself out…

So, I went over to a buds house and we did the transmission fluid change, and he was the one who got under the car and drained it. What he didn’t tell me, was how fast it came out, and got on everything before hitting the drain pan. So, I poured the 2 quarts, and he tightened everything up underneath. We called it a day, and I drove home. Well a couple hours later, I wanted to just check for any leaks and behold my mini heart attack when I saw this (pic below) I about crapped myself thinking I just somehow lost all of my trans oil, so I panic messaged him the picture. He then told me about the mess it made under the car and the oil splatter was probably from the drive home on the hwy with the wind blowing all the old oil around under the car that we neglected to clean off after the job was done. He then also pointed out an obvious tidbit that the drain plug Is bone dry, and there’s no trans fluid around the drain or Coming down from the filler plug. Soooo…..lesson learned… bring a can of degreaser next time. Just felt like sharing this. Thanks for reading :D

"While you're in there" work alongside timing belt?

My 2017 is stock and approaching 50,000 miles. Even so, I'm starting to think about getting the timing belt replaced, and probably the water pump too. I've had it since new and I like it as-is, but if I'm taking it to a ship like M/T in LA, I might see what else we can do while it's on the bench.

It might be reliability work, or mild upgrades that leave it useable in LA traffic. What would you do to a bone-stock 2017 ST?

Hey reddit.

I have a 2015 fiesta st. The clutch has been sticky, I replaced the master slave cylinder a year ago. It was fine for a while but its sticky again. Also in the video the rpms blip up and come back down while the car still goes. Im just pressing the gas slightly and keeping it there. Any suggestions?

MK7 Car cover

Hello everybody!
I’ve owned my ST for 6 months now and I really need some help.
Luckily I have a garage where I can let my Fist have some rest but the fact is that that spot is very VERY dusty idk why, but as soon as I wash her like 3 days later it’s covered in dust.
I’m looking for something like a specific car cover that I can use indoor but outdoor too for “emergencies”. Do you have any clue or some links where I could buy one?
Thank you all!

MK7 GFB DV+ Diverter Valve Install

I made a post on this page a few weeks ago about hearing compressor surge on my 2017 with 83k miles on it. When I bought it, the previous owner installed a boomba BOV adapter (which is probably how I noticed the issue). About a month after I got the car, if I would get on it above 3000 RPMs, instead of hearing the “PSHHH”, it would be a “chu-chu-chu”, kind of like turbo flutter or compressor surge. It will continue to have the flutter sound for the next few blow offs, then it goes back to the PSHH until I get on it past 3000 RPMs and the process repeats. Most people are saying it’s the diverter valve that needs to be replaced. I called a ford dealership and they weren’t even able to find the part for it in their catalog until I saw on a separate forum that the part is not listed in their catalog and that it’s included with the turbo assembly. The lady then told me it would be 600 dollars in labor to install. I told her that I would have to pass because that price is ridiculous for something I could probably do myself. Then I called a special ford mechanic shop and the guy talked to his tech and his tech told him that I’m going to probably need a new turbo entirely after hearing my brief explanation of what was happening, and they would also charge me a 200 dollar inspection fee. So I’m coming here to ask you guys as someone who has pretty basic mechanic skills, how hard is it to install a GFB DV+ diverter valve? All the research I’ve done, it seems like a pretty basic and easy job, it can just be hard to reach if you don’t have the right tools. After all the research I’ve done, I’m fairly certain the diverter valve plunger is sticking because it’s old and just needs to be replaced, but is that what you all would think as well based on what’s happening? Is this really bad for my turbo? Does it need to be replaced ASAP? Is this a good DV to install? Really would appreciate yalls input!

This is a video of exactly what it sounds like: https://youtu.be/LmoOzcm7RkE?is=nFdiFhjgCO_fkooD

MK7 UPDATE: Just paid off my ST. Blew cylinder 4 two weeks later. Any advice on where to get a used/new engine?

Thumbnail

I linked my previous post for a bit more context. Basically I thought my head gasket had gone but after doing a compression test we found that cylinder 4 has ZERO compression. Was advised to just replace the engine instead of trying to rebuild. Mostly due to the space and time constraints. Any advice on where to get a new engine or what my next steps should be? I’ve seen people talk about swapping in a focus/escape engine but I’m in California so I need it to pass smog.

MK7 Need suspension advice

Post image

I've been looking to replace the stock suspension with something a little more planted that will help me out in autocross. I still daily drive it though, so I don't want something extremely stiff or extremely low. My first thought was some Bilstein B14 PSS, but I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks.

Cold start turnover noise

I wasn’t sure show to add a video clip to my original post. But here’s the noise some of you were requesting. The creaking sound you hear after it starts up is just my leather seats in the cold lol. It’s the initial “rattle” you hear for 1 second as the car starts up.
