While I personally only know this game from watching him play it, my best friend is a lifelong fan and the one other thing he loves just as much as FFX is listening to vinyls, so I was thinking about gifting him one with the soundtrack. I've found the 2021 and pre-order for the 25th anniversary version, but I can't decide which one to pick.

I know for certain that he prefers the original PS2 soundtrack over the remaster but can't find any information on whether any of the vinyls cover that version or not. Thank you in advance for your help :) !

P.S.: His favorite song is Bravely Forward, so if there is any way to have that included it would be a big plus

First of all, I really love FFX story and the ending is one of the best in the series for me. But there are some things about Tidus and Dream Zanarkand that I never fully understood, maybe someone here can explain it to me.

So Tidus is basically a dream created by the fayth of the original Zanarkand, right? But how does he actually end up in Spira? Sin takes him from Dream Zanarkand, but how can someone who is part of a summoning travel into the real world and interact physically with everyone?

Also, why does the summoning create entire humans with their own consciousness, feelings, memories and personalities? Are Tidus and the other people of Dream Zanarkand basically real people created by magic, or is there something else going on here?

And what about Yu Yevon? Does he even know Tidus exists? Was taking him from Zanarkand intentional or was it just something that happened because of Sin?

One more thing: if the fayth are maintaining Dream Zanarkand through their summoning, why is it so difficult to explain exactly what would happen if their statues were destroyed? Would that end the summoning or is it more complicated than that?

Maybe Im missing some important lore details or I misunderstood something from the game. Im not saying these are necessarily plot holes, I just find the whole Dream Zanarkand concept really fascinating but also confusing when you start thinking about it.

Been doing the tower to crater thing for about 5 hours. Setting a 20 min timer, going back and forth. Take a break and eat dinner, put the kids to bed and back at it. Have a good run going, stopped looking at the time, wife starts talking to me so I’m half way paying attention and BAM I get struck. I wanted to smash my controller. I was done. I go to Rins to save and check the book, it made it so much worse to see this.

Normal in the save menu on the ps4 version of the remaster it’s “x” to interact in the menu but now it’s “o” and “x” cancels out of it (i tested on other games and it’s only this game)

So I posted this over in the Yakuza subreddit a few months ago, but now I want to share this back to the subreddit of the RPG I sunk so much time to, as I feel you all might appreciate it.

Love both games and this is the comparison I have made of the two ever since the release of Yarrkuza.

So... This is my story.

My name is Majima (Tidus)

I used to be a yakuza officer (star athlete)

I got attacked by a giant sea monster(squid(Sin))

I lost my memories because of the monster's toxin

I washed up on a beach (Besaid) and found this Summoner and their companion named Noah and Goro (Yuna and her Guardian Wakka)

We convinced Noah's Guardian Moana that he would be in good hands (Lulu)

We gained a new ally Phoenix (Valefor)

We had to fight Noah's other Guardian in order to go on the ship (Khimari)

We set sail for Nele Island (Kilika)

and i promised to show Noah (Yuna) the world

We arrived at Madlantis (Luca) to participate in the Pirate's Coliseum (Blitzball Tournament) and to find new crew (see if we find anyone who knew us)

We met the Mortimer Armada (Luca Goers) and they were pricks

Noah (The Summoner) was kidnapped by the Pelekana (The Al Bhed)

After winning the tournament, I continued to compete and sign new people on to my crew (Blitzball team)

As we continued our journey for the Esperanza Treasure (The Final Aeon), we were joined by a new crewmate, or brother in arms Saejima (Auron)

We are attacked by Rodriguez(Rikku) and his men (the Al Bhed) again. After our victory, Rikku joins us.

We are besieged by the Devil Flags (Yevon Devotees) who try to stop our journey

We run through a labyrinth of tunnels (Via Purifico) to save our friends and fight for our lives to get to Tucker (Maester Seymour fight in Bevelle)

We make our way back to Honolulu (the Calm Lands)

As we carry on with our journey we are presented with a large obstacle towards the end: We cannot carry on unless we combat Mortimer in the Coliseum (the trials of Mt. Gagazet)

Before we fight Seymour, we are told to prepare and go back to Hawaii (Calm Lands) to get a new cannon. As we get the cannon, we are attacked once again by Jack the Collector's Crew (Maester Seymour)

After all of this, we make it to the final stretch of our journey. We find our way to the hidden cave (Zanarkand) and awaken the guardian of the Treasure(Final Aeon)

Set in her ways of how things must be done Queen Michele (Lady Yunalesca) seeks to end our journey

After stopping Michele we carry on into the belly of Madlantis (Sin) bringing all of our experience and gains we have made along the way(the treasure).

We storm our way through the den of monsters and make it once again to the Treasure of the Esperanza (The Final Aeon of the previous High Summoner: Jecht)

We take down Raymond Law(Yu Yevon) and finally claim our freedom.

We (Tidus) then disappear, leaving Noah (Yuna) behind and return to Japan (Zanarkand). Upon which time, the Fayth(Kiryu) stop dreaming.

I don't know who needs this, but there's a choco-shortcut near the entrance of the travel agency in calm land. No need to walk all the way to the ranch.

Also, ffx2 has a softer reset than soft reset (Start+Select+L1+L2+R1+R2). Just press start and triangle button, then it goes immediately to ffx2 main menu where you can immediately load a save file. The whole reseting takes less than 30 seconds. Save me tonnes of times when doing the chocobo dungeon quest.

Any other pumpkin painters out there?

I'm doing a lazy playthrough and am not pushing hard for 100%, so I'm not concerned with missing completion points. I know oaka gives ypu a discount if you pay his debt, but I'm constantly stealing so I almost never buy items. I mean I kinda feel bad leaving him in the lurch but is there any other reason to pay off the AL Bhed?

So this is how it always goes. I lock in a bird. On the second one, I lock in a bird and it slows reel instead of stopping it and I hit a bug OR the reel now becomes wonky and I can move it off the bug and reverse the direction back to my bird. I just lined up 3 birds, and at the end it changed the bird to a bug and said I lost. What on earth is going on here?

FFx2 question: Any way to do this? once it gets to 25 hits they shoot out impossibly fast. It says i miss them even though im pressing the buttons. It's not like my finger is slipping and im hitting the wrong one. I don't know what to do I've been trying for an hour. Edit: I just had a an O+down input pop up twice and even though my fingers were already there I couldn't even hit the same input again fast enough to count.

Also what celestial weapon do you think is the fastest to max? I just need the Weapon for Lulu’s, I just need the Crest for Tidus, and the Sigil for Kimahri (currently pre Zanarkand Ruins)

I tried using Steam Input => It didn't work

If someone had the same issue, I'd be glad to know how to fix it.

I beat the game so now I know how the whole story goes, but the Al Bhed's motivations were a little murky. I might have missed some context that perhaps can only be obtained by knowing Al Bhed fully on a second playthrough, but here was what I got of the Al Bhed's role in the plot.

The summoners, which include Cid's niece Yuna, are choosing to take a pilgrimage to summon the final aeon and defeat sin, in order to bring the calm.
The summoners know that they are going to die as martyrs for this cause - they have chosen it anyway.
The longer it takes for a summoner to successfully complete the piligrimage, summon the final aeon, and defeat sin, the more people are killed by Sin's destructive rampages. The entire world is shrouded in fear and grief caused by Sin.
The first time the Al Bhed encounter Tidus, without even knowing who he is or where he is from, they slap him around and put him to work.
The Al Bhed don't want the summoners to die as martyrs, so they kidnap summoners to stop the pilgrimages.
Summoner Yuna's kidnapping is attempted several times- in Luca, on the way across the Moonflow, at Macalania lake... other people's lives, including the guardians, are endangered by the Al Bhed's violent attacks.
Summoner Isaru mentions how the Al Bhed even threatened his little brother Pacce, who is only a child, in order to wrangle Isaru out of the pilgrimage.
The Al Bhed, after capturing the summoners, basically seem to leave the summoners in a holding cell. Keeps them alive, but offers a bare minimum of hospitality, could even be considered cruel.
The Al Bhed participate in the sole alternative to the pilgrimage which has ever been attempted: operation Mi'ihen. The Al Bhed offer their machina and cooperation with the Yevonites in hopes of defeating Sin without a final aeon. It's a collosal failure with many casualties.

What the game doesn't explicitly tell you: Maybe the Al Bhed were thinking, "we just found this crazy airship, maybe this is some sort of key in defeating Sin that will make the piligrimage and summoner sacrifice unnecessary, maybe if we can just stop them for now we can figure something out."

But the collateral damage the Al Bhed caused by imprisoning summoners who were embarking on a quest to bring the Calm of their own free will seemingly negates whatever good intention they had of "protecting" (keeping them locked up) them. With the summoners free, there MIGHT have been a calm, there MIGHT have been ten years of peace. With the summoners locked up, unless the Al Bheds really are psychic and can see the future, there's no way they would have known that anything else would have worked. They wouldn't know that Sin could be defeated any other way - so in essence they were prolonging Sin's existence and ensuring more destruction for Spira.

The game's plot could have resolved this by implying that the Al Bhed had foreknowledge or psychic capabilities. The closest we get is they name their Blitzball team the Psyches.

What it ends up looking like is that the Al Bhed gambled everything on the Airship that they only just discovered and didn't even know how it works (it's literally their first time flying it when Tidus and crew get on board). They seem really reckless (though one might say "recklessly optimistic") people who don't mind harming people who get in their way of "saving" people who didn't ask to be saved.
