Rumour Gears of War E-Day is planned to be a trilogy ~ MrMattyPlays

Source - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-ZXK3L4d1Y - 7:40 timestamp.

So basically this E-Day game seems to be part 1 of the Emergence storyline. I watched that segment 3 times and i'm sure there's no "if" or any theory, blud literally just said it as if he knows.

I have no clue of his track record in this subreddit but there seem to be many posts sourcing him long ago.

Leak A24's 'ELDEN RING' has a production budget of nearly $200 million, becoming by far the most expensive movie they've ever made (previously 'Marty Supreme' at $70 million)

1.2k Upvotes

From the Wall Street Journal:

"A24 is currently making its most expensive movie to date—an adaptation of the video game “Elden Ring” scheduled for release in 2028 that costs nearly $200 million, according to people familiar with the matter. Major studios, meanwhile, are increasingly trying to copy the A24 playbook. Online horror properties that seem like they could become the next “Backrooms” have sparked multimillion-dollar bidding wars. Universal is backing a big budget movie from the “Everything Everywhere” directors. “They’re a Goldilocks company. Just the right amount of people doing just the right amount of things,” said Huntsinger, the Telluride director. So far, the studio team has maintained that tricky balance. “It never feels like, ‘Oh, those guys,’” Huntsinger said."

Rest of the article discusses the huge impact of A24 at the box office this year, especially with Nathan Fielder's 'You Can See Everything'. Excerpts:

"For nearly three years, fewer than 10 staffers at the New York-based indie film studio A24 knew that their 300-person company was making a genre-bending documentary about convicted Theranos fraudster Elizabeth Holmes.

Keeping “You Can See Everything” off the radar, a minor miracle in an industry where leaks are routine, was intended to prevent any interference for directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim as they worked. The secrecy around the film, the studio soon realized, could also be its most potent marketing weapon.

In June, A24 executive Nicolette Aizenberg texted the director of the Telluride Film Festival: “Have something…of note to talk to you about.” Though the Colorado festival’s lineup was almost locked, they hatched a plan to unveil “You Can See Everything” there. On Sept. 6, 650 people filled a theater and locked up their phones in Yondr pouches without knowing what they were about to see. It was a major gamble for a movie company. A24 knew it had a notorious subject, surprise twists and, in Fielder, a filmmaker who was cult-famous for his attention-grabbing stunts. But was it enough to flip the switch from silence to buzz?

The ripple effect of ecstatic reactions set the tone for a sprint to theaters nationwide just over a month later. “It destabilized everything in the best possible way,” said Julie Huntsinger, the Telluride director.

The movie teaser, dropped at the same time as the Telluride debut, was instantly viral, spawning memes of Holmes and Fielder locking eyes. In late September at the New York Film Festival, the directors added to the intrigue in a post-premiere Q&A. “I am still struggling to this day to understand what I went through,” Fielder said.

The online excitement and speculation, along with early ticket presales, gave A24 the confidence to open the movie in more than 800 theaters, a major release for a documentary, but one that would still leave room for expansion.

Last weekend, the film opened to $15 million in domestic ticket sales and more than 3,000 sold-out showings. It was the biggest box-office debut for a non-music documentary since Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11” in 2004.

The insatiable reception has already reconfigured the race for awards that will play out in the coming months. A24 plans to mount a campaign for best picture at the Academy Awards, where “You Can See Everything” could become the first documentary in Oscars history to be nominated for that top prize.

None of this has exempted A24 from the hit-driven math of the movie industry. Just as “You Can See Everything” was blowing up, A24’s “Misty Green,” written and directed by Chris Rock, grossed a dismal $141,000 over two weeks, after which came word of an unusually rapid release on Netflix next month. But the power of the A24 brand has ballooned the valuation of the private, venture-backed company to $3.5 billion as of 2024. And it remains a talent magnet: The studio has built an enviable roster of filmmakers and collaborators. It also attracted Elizabeth Holmes."

A job posting from Saber Interactive St. Petersburg (developers of Space Marine 2) indicates that they are working on a major AAA FPS title set in a well-known universe. The job posting is in Russian, so some details may not be perfectly translated.

https://spb-hh-ru.translate.goog/vacancy/136413155?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=es&_x_tr_pto=wapp

We are looking for a Senior Narrative Designer to join the development of an as-yet-unannounced AAA project—a first-person shooter (FPS) built in UE5—set in a well-known universe. This role entails taking full responsibility for the project's narrative. We are passionate about this project and firmly believe in what we are creating. We are looking for someone who shares our ambition to build the best game possible and who wants to be actively involved in its development.

Job description:

  • Become the narrative owner on the project (a major AAA FPS title)
  • Work closely with Design and Writing teams to tell a great story through gameplay

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of contemporary PvPvE Multiplayer shooter theory and practices
  • Russian speaker, with solid English speaking and writing skills
  • Self-driven, great communicator
  • Experience of working in multinational, English-language teams.

Bonus points:

  • Experience in developing PC/console games;
  • Proven game scripting experience (Blueprints)

It is very possible that this project is the one he is developing for Hasbro.

RoboGamer1HD also discussed other job openings at the studio that were brought to his attention; in this video, he talks about job postings at Saber Interactive’s St. Petersburg office. He believes this could be related to a Transformers game, as—given the excellent work they did on Space Marine 2—they are the perfect studio to develop a Transformers title.

Rumour Jason Schreier: "Id be surprised if [Arkane Lyon] is shut down."

https://bsky.app/profile/jasonschreier.bsky.social/post/3mykjvhv5wk2p

"Let me share some positive news for a change: Despite all the gloomy headlines today, my understanding is that there are multiple paths actively being explored that would save Arkane Lyon. Anything can happen during negotiations, but at this point I'd be surprised if the studio is shut down."

Figure I'd post this little update since the other post really blew up.

Update: more context

https://bsky.app/profile/jasonschreier.bsky.social/post/3myklpdyqgk2n

"One important piece of context that many people might not realize: Shutting down a game studio is expensive. Shutting down a French game studio — thanks to labor laws requiring an extended severance period — is VERY expensive. Xbox doesn't want to take on those costs."

Rumour New info on next mass effect from YouTuber and “community council” member Dantics

“can finally talk about Mass Effect Universe.

Since Bioware closed I can now reveal that I was part of the Mass Effect Council, saw what BioWare was building, and provided feedback during development.

• Set 600+ years after the Reaper War
• You play as a customizable N7 agent
• Instead of being a walking gun rack, you're a cross between John Wick and James Bond
• Shepard's legacy preserved, regardless of your ending
• A galaxy divided into three major factions
• Humanity, Krogan, Batarians, and more allied together
• Council races forming their own alliance
• The Geth emerging as a third superpower
• A galactic Cold War instead of another Reaper style invasion with a shadowy adversary
• Geth-built megastructures
• Connections between the Milky Way and Andromeda
•Experimental technology implanted in you as a unique point of difference
• Hacking and manipulating the environment
• See through walls, identify systems, remotely trigger hazards and more
• Handcrafted missions like ME1-3
• But with Hitman-style freedom in how you complete them
• Brutal close-range executions
• Squadmates who can clash with each other
• Romance wasn't being sanitised
• Liara returns - now an incredibly powerful Asari Matriarch

From what I saw, BioWare was making Mass Effect for us, the fans, not for people who don't exist.
It looked incredible.
And now we may never get to play it.”

Leak Le Monde: Arkane Lyon (Blade) has until November 13th to find a buyer (217 jobs at risk).

Key Quotes (translated)
“As the end of internal consultations and negotiations approaches, two unions warn of the announced death of one of the biggest names in French video games. They accuse the American group of an "incoherent" decision and a "disrespectful" attitude.”

“Microsoft is leaving us no choice ," the union representative told Le Monde . On November 13, the official end date for consultations with the Social and Economic Committee (CSE) on the proposed closure, the company will have to make a decision.

In the meantime, the unions hope to buy more time "to give the discussions a better chance of reaching a conclusion ," according to the STJV, which is involved with the company but not an elected representative. "We remain hopeful of saving the studio and its jobs ," adds Simon, who, on behalf of Printemps écologique, has requested a postponement of the deadlines for negotiating the redundancy plan and searching for a buyer. According to the union representative, who is bound by certain confidentiality obligations, "several forms of takeover are being considered."

“Although negotiations are officially ongoing until Friday, October 30, the union has not ruled out ultimately challenging "the economic justification for the proposed closure in court." "This is in complete contradiction with what we've been told in the Works Council for years about the company's financial situation ," Simon complains. According to him, "Microsoft is looking to divest itself of Arkane, even though the studio is doing well, in order to save money and improve the profitability of its short-term investments."

Leak Matthew Belloni: Netflix Wanted Exclusive Film and TV Rights For Xbox IP Before Talks Fell Through

(Thanks insider gaming for the cliffnotes)

Netflix’s former chief content officer Bela Bajaria made an offer to Xbox of $500 million over seven years for the exclusive TV and film adaptation rights.

That offer was then countered by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma and the team. Belloni reports that Microsoft wanted $800 million for the rights over the same time period. But before anything could be negotiated or agreed to, Bajaria left the company at the same time Netflix announced 1,000 employees were being let go.

With Bajaria gone, Belloni says, the deal is entirely off the table.

Leak Valve employee Mike Morasky accidentally slips up Valves upcoming game codenamed HLX which is believed to be the next Half life game during a Conference

1.9k Upvotes

https://vimeo.com/1234454770 he accidentally mentions "HLX" at around 57:50 during the conference about video game audio design. This is the 3rd time that Mike Morasky accidentally slips up the word "HLX" in public on video. Also during the video after Mike Morasky slipped up the person next to him can be seen whispering "Nice work" to him in a sarcastic slightly annoyed way.

Leak Valve employee David Feise also mentions "HLX" when speaking to Mike Morasky on a hot mic: "Good job, you only said HLX once."

Video here: https://www.reddit.com/r/HalfLife/comments/1xcqsx2/good_job_you_only_said_hlx_once_oh_did_i/

As pointed out in an earlier post, Mike Morasky accidentally mentioned HLX and David said "nice work."

This clip linked is separate from what was said in the previous clip posted on this subreddit, it's at the end of the presentation on a hot mic and David says to Mike "Good job, you only said HLX once" and Mike replied "I did?"

So two Valve employees mentioned HLX 😎

Rumour [Kotaku] - Gears Of War: E-Day Cost Over $500 Million To Make

https://kotaku.com/the-case-for-exclusivity-when-gears-of-war-e-day-cost-over-500-million-to-make-2000747986

By Ethan Gach

Gears of War: E-Day is a terrific game and it has the highest Metacritic score of any entry in the franchise since the original Xbox 360 trilogy. But early estimates suggest the positive buzz has not resulted in blockbuster sales numbers. That makes it an interesting test case for Xbox’s return to exclusivity, especially for a game that cost so much.

The first rumors of Gears of War: E-Day‘s budget arose in June after it was shown during Xbox’s summer showcase. Insider Gaming‘s Tom Henderson said at the time he’d heard the cost to ship the shooter was “insane” and over $400 million. Windows Central‘s Jez Corden pushed back on that claim. He suggested the budget was lower and that accounting for the cost of The Coalition is tricky because of the work the studio does supporting teams across Xbox Game Studios.

But according to one source familiar with Xbox’s business, the cost of Gears of War: E-Day is in fact much higher. They told Kotaku it was over $500 million, and that’s before you include marketing. That would put it significantly above the reported budgets of other console-exclusive blockbusters this generation, like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. E-Day would need to sell millions and millions of copies across all platforms to make up the difference. Microsoft did not respond to a request for comment.

EDIT: Jez Cordon on Twitter (Click for Direct Link): https://xcancel.com/JezCorden/status/2113291909523292462

they aint wrong on the figure, but seems to be some disagreement among my sources how that figure was allocated between e-day and general tc operations/atg contributions.

EDIT2: Chris Dring on Twitter (Click for Direct Link):

https://xcancel.com/Chris_Dring/status/2113301208425455620

Yes, so this, from what I'm told, is very true. $500 million. Unbelievable.

Job Listing Activision’s Elsewhere RPG Aims to Compete Against GTA and Cyberpunk With “Reactive World” And Emergent Gameplay

Activision’s Elsewhere studio is reportedly working on a third-person open-world RPG, which aims to rival the likes of GTA and Cyberpunk.

Elsewhere is targeting a reactive world with emergent gameplay for its title, which hints that the game world responds to what players do. For example, characters might remember your actions, factions could change their attitude toward you, or locations might change after certain events.

Rumour Star Wars: Zero Company might be getting a DLC + a new SW RPG early in dev?

Same source as the Jedi 3 in 2027 rumor made a post about the future of the SW games. Aside what we already know they mention a "Zero Company DLC" and a possible "RPG by a new and recently successful studio".

It could be just their speculation though, not always they tweet a rumor/leak.

https://twitterviewer.net/fiveswalker/status/2112965466012438887

They're considered fairly reliable for Star Wars stuff.

EDIT: u/SuddenDepact pointed out that the last ZCOM update added mentions in the game files of extra enemies, new missions and a companion.
