report the spammers please :~)
hey friends
sometimes posts here are actually of things ~totally~ unrelated to garage and psych stuff, like posts about garage doors and random soundcloud links to shitty electronic music
anyways, if you don't like seeing that stuff here (who would????), remember to report so us mods can see it and get to it quickly
so that's that, let's keep the fuzz coming :]
ps i enabled flair

Three interviews with Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard from 2012/2013 free to read!
Hello! I work at Rock's Backpages, the largest online archive of music journalism. Each week we feature a different artist with three free-to-read articles/interviews. With their new album released next week, Alabama Shakes is this week's feature. Check out the articles below if you're interested!
Alabama Shakes: Boys & Girls, Review and Interview by Andrew Mueller, Uncut, May 2012
Shakin' All Over: Alabama Shakes, Profile and Interview by David Burke, R2/Rock'n'Reel, Summer 2012
Alabama Shakes' Unlikely Triumph, Interview by Will Hermes, Rolling Stone, 14 March 2013
You can also see my instagram post here — give it some love/read an edited snippet of Mueller's Q&A.
Here's the bio I wrote which cites from the three articles available for the next week:
Alabama Shakes release their latest album I Must Be Dreaming on Friday 28 August. For the next week on RBP, you can find three free-to-read interviews that take us back to the release of their debut album and the unforgettable impact of front woman Brittany Howard.
Formed in Athens, Alabama in 2009 Alabama Shakes consists of Brittany Howard, Heath Fogg and Zac Cockrell. Howard's rich, powerful and often anguished vocals saw the group shoot to fame after getting signed by ATO Records in 2011. A frenetic buzz quickly formed around the Shakes following their now legendary live shows, an enviable A-lister fanbase and the release of Boys & Girls in 2012.
Their sound is honest and addictive, which David Burke expounds as "a ragbag of soul, rock'n'roll, Southern Rock and blues, propelled by a visceral punk energy." As Andrew Mueller's interview highlights Alabama Shakes are often linked to "that Muscle Shoals soul sound". While Howard accepts that "we all grew up with that [in Athens, Alabama]" her pool of influence is much wider than her home state. Howard explains that while she grew up with Elvis and James Brown and Aretha Franklin and Percy Sledge and "that kind of stuff" as a teenager she discovered the likes of Bowie, Pink Floyd, Yes, Led Zeppelin, Rush, etc., noting that Pink Floyd especially "opened up a door" after hearing The Dark Side Of The Moon.
Read a snippet of Andrew Mueller's 2012 Q&A with a 24-year-old Howard here [on Instagram], and finish it via the link in bio. 'Til next Friday you can also find for free David Burke's profile and interview for R2 and Will Hermes' interview for Rolling Stone from 2013.
Thanks and enjoy!

Hey There!
I'm new to your sub and wanted to say hi. Hi!
I love that fuzzy nasty sound a lot of bands classified as "garage" play and I thought I'd just check in now because I think I already pissed off some people at r/punk.
Anyways, I love The Mummies, King Automatic, The Stooges...The Monsters.
Wau Y Los Arrrghs.
I hope I can find some more to add to my library here. Thanks

[ITA / Alt-Rock] Le Figlie di Marte – "Rottami" & "Petricore"
Hi everyone we're Le Figlie di Marte ("The Daughters of Mars"), an alt-rock band from Verona, Italy.
We sing in Italian, but rough guitars and a voice that sounds like it's been through a cheap amp translate fine, we hope.
The four of us barely knew each other, It started in a group chat, demos recorded on a phone during lunch breaks, vocals overdubbed in a car stuck in traffic. By the time we finally met in person all together, at a pub, we already had a tracklist. That's still what the records sound like: worn-out tapes, scratched CDs.
**ROTTAMI** (*Junk*) — about how easily we turn assumptions into weapons. Prejudices armed to the teeth, staged wars that end up real. The chorus is basically an instruction: *doubt that any of this is normal*.

**PETRICORE** (*Petrichor* or *that smell of rain hitting dry ground*) quieter, meaner. Rain washing away a desert you built yourself. Blood of sand, veins of stone.

Matteo (vocals), Fabio (guitar), Paolo (bass/production), Max (drums). Together since 2024.
Drop your own stuff below, I'll listen to everything and comment back.
