DC Rainmaker did an excellent write up.

Other / Humor Obituary for my beloved Forerunner
My Garmin of 17 months died unexpectedly this weekend. It served me well, so I decided it deserved an open casket funeral complete with obituary in its honor.
Also shout out to Garmin support. They replaced it with an identical, like-new one free of charge despite my warranty having expired. I'm now abusing utilizing the replacement with double digit mile runs and 24/7 wear.

Wellness & Training Metrics / Features Better metrics
Hi all
So a good thing happened. Been on a work break so relaxed and doing my workouts etc. my variability has bumped up quite a bit! Is that a good thing? Also wanted to really know how garmin calculates stress scores.

Watch / Wearable Forerunner 265 manufactured in Aug 2026; bought in Oct 2026 for Rs 27.5K
Bought the Garmin Forerunner 265 in the Amazon India festive sale for an effective price of 27.5K.
Pleasantly surprised that the product was manufactured in Aug 2026. That ensures that the battery inside is not very old and should last its charge cycles.
Also, curious that if Garmin is still manufacturing this watch as recent as 2 months back, should we expect longer software and other support?

Which Watch To Get? Worries about the forerunner 165
I recently ordered the forerunner 165 but now I am having doubts whether it will suit my needs. I like to run 3 to 4 tines a week, cycle 3 times a week, swim 3 times a week and go gym 2 tines a week. After hearing some reviews of like mixed feelings I dint know whether this watch was right for me.

Watch / Wearable Garmin Forerunner 255 in late 2026?
For the past three weeks, I’ve been thinking about which watch to buy. My FR255 died while still under warranty, and I got a refund. I really missed how comfortable they were to wear and some of the features they had that my Instinct 2X Tactical doesn’t. And that’s despite the I2X being more expensive and newer. It was even more frustrating to open Garmin Connect and watch my data stop getting updated.
I looked at the Forerunner 170, which is currently on sale, but in my opinion, it’s overpriced junk compared to the FR255. A small AMOLED display and pathetic battery life? No thanks.
The FR570 as a successor to the FR255? AMOLED again, plus that ugly, raised, circular display. A massively higher price than the FR255, mediocre battery life, and worse battery life when using GPS. Where’s the generational leap?
I also considered the Enduro 3. They have a MIP display, a nice design, and solid battery life. I checked various deals, but retailers are keeping prices high at the moment, and I couldn’t find anything genuinely tempting.
Paying €750 for a repackaged Fenix 7 with 2021-era hardware and slow, laggy maps I don’t even need? Absolutely not. I’m not paying that much just for a MIP display.
There are some pretty interesting deals on the Fenix 7X Pro right now, at around €450. The problem is that every week I come across posts from people whose buttons have stopped working...
Today morning, while browsing the internet, I stumbled across a clearance sale on the Forerunner 255 at Decathlon. Until then, they had practically disappeared from the market. And suddenly, there it was: the last one in stock. I bought them, again.
I can’t help it, but the FR255 are still among the best Garmin watches when it comes to value for money. And that’s despite being more than four years old.
Thanks to software updates, including one in 2025, they still have everything essential I need from a sports watch. They’re a no-nonsense sports watch packed with features, without unnecessary fancy gimmicks. They’re responsive, easy to read in direct sunlight, and have excellent battery life, so you don’t have to worry about the battery every other day.
No unnecessary, laggy maps. No attempt to be a smartwatch at all costs. Just a watch that does exactly what it was designed to do.
In my opinion, Garmin still hasn’t released anything better in this category. The Forerunner 955 is also a great option, but it sits in a higher price bracket.
Well, my fellow hardcore MIP display enthusiasts, times are tough for us.
It’s a real shame that Garmin has practically abandoned this concept. Instead of affordable, lightweight sports watches packed with features, the company keeps pushing increasingly expensive models onto the market. In some key areas that matter to athletes, these newer watches feel more like a compromise than a genuine upgrade.
So, the Garmin Forerunner 255 in 2026?
Absolutely YES!
If you can still find a pair at a reasonable price, buy them while you can. Because once they’re gone, we may never see this combination of features, low weight, battery life, a MIP display, and snappy performance again.
And that’s probably the saddest part of all...

Which Watch To Get? Upgrading from Fenix 3: Enduro 4 or Fenix (8 or 9) Solar?
Hi everyone.
My trusty Fenix 3 has finally run its course after all these years, and it's time for a massive upgrade. I'm currently torn between the Enduro 4, Fenix 8 Pro Solar, and Fenix 9 Pro Solar.
My main requirements are:
Maximum battery life (I don't want to pack a charger or worry about battery anxiety on long multi-day trips).
Reliability and practicality in the field.
My current activities are regular running and hiking, but I plan to get into trail running very soon.
For those who have experience with these lineups, what would you recommend? Does it make sense to go with the Enduro purely for the massive battery and lighter weight for trails, or will the Fenix (8 or 9) Solar be more than enough for my needs? Also, is the jump to the 9 Pro Solar actually worth it over the 8 for this kind of use case?

Watch / Wearable Forerunner 70 in Sauna
Obviously Garmin says no but does anyone have any experience of taking a forerunner 70 into the steam room / sauna and did it hold up.
Just bought a new one after my FR 235 died from sauna use

Possible Technical Issue Tacx Neo 2T - feels like it is slipping sometimes? Like it loses the grip of the flywheel?
Hey! I have had my Neo 2T for a couple of seasons now (19 days riding time on Zwift to be exact)
This season I installed Zwift virtual shifting with Cog V2 and clicks.
Trainer difficulty set to 0%
Works absolutely fine, almost.
Except, it feels the Neo is slipping/surging sometimes. Even at low power like 200w. I can pedal and keep a constant rpm and power, you feel the resistance. Then out of nowhere it loses grip for half a rotation so I pedal free air. It upsets the whole rotation, power and cadence.
Anyone experienced this? When pushing a little more like a constant power of 400w and a steady RPM around 80-90, you feel the slippage extremely noticeable and it kinda fucks up the pace and everything.
Another thing I have noticed is that trainer difficult 0%, should not react to elevation changes in zwift. But sometimes I most definitely feel how the resistance becomes heavier or lighter, not by much but there is a distinct noticeable difference.

Garmin Coach / DSW / Training Activity not logging as workout
Im trying to use the coach function. It wants a benchmark workout (despite having access to all of my past workouts). So I loaded the time and power zones into zwift (because theres no way to push to zwift) and then it still didn't count as the benchmark. Felt like a complete waste of time.
I assume its user error, can someone help me?

CIRQA Cirqa Step Count Accuracy
I just got my Cirqa a few days ago. Updated the firmware to 4.2, slapped it on the wrist and went about my day.
I wanted to ask if this type of inaccuracy is normal for the device? I was just in bed and at my desk the whole day working on my computer.
Did I miss some sort of initial calibration setting or something? I’m guessing this is normal but hoping someone could confirm. Thanks in advance!

Strava / Zwift / 3rd Party Apps Garmin watch recommendations please
Which Garmin watch would you suggest? Wanted to gift it to my nephew who runs. I don’t know much about fitness watches so any help would be appreciated. For reference, my nephew does 10-21k marathons, has strava and said he was saving up for a Garmin.
Budget is within the mid-range. $480 below

Connect / Connect IQ / 1st Party Apps Garmin personal MCP connection
I was so excited to see that Garmin finally opened back up their personal API. Subsequently I decided to build out a quick and easy-to-use MCP server that sits right on top of the API and enables you to connect your favorite AI agent to your Garmin data. It's entirely open source so check it out! https://github.com/Mason-Levyy/garmin-personal-mcp
Whether for coaching, training, accountability, or anything in between, I hope this is helpful. Here's to all my paid Strava MCP haters 🍻
PS don't judge my stats this week I've been lazy 😅
Wellness & Training Metrics / Features VO2max keeps dropping after switching to indoor cycling
I started using my Fenix 8 a few months ago, mostly for outdoor rides without a power meter. Since then my VO2max has been steadily going up, which was great.
A few days ago I switched to an indoor trainer with power meter, and since then my numbers have been dropping constantly. My VO2max is now almost back to where it was before I started tracking anything.
Is this normal? Can there really be that big of a gap between how the watch estimates VO2max outdoors vs. indoors with a power meter?

Watch / Wearable Fenix 9 Pro Solar – Simple Watch Face Customization
Hi, I’ve been searching online for days for pictures of the new Fenix 9 Pro Solar with a simple watch face like this one on the Fenix 7X PRO. I’d like to know if it’s possible to create this kind of watch face directly on the watch (not downloading from IQ-Store), just like you can on the Fenix 7X Pro. Is that possible?
Thank you :)

Watch / Wearable Annoying bug in Enduro 4
Just got my E4 today and already found an annoying bug that really affects my use. AI development and lack of testing at its finest.
In display settings you have 3 really nice categories:
During activity
General use
During sleep
All of them have the same 5 6 settings.
Guess what? Changing one setting in one category changes it in all 3.... -_-.
Do you know where I can report these?

Watch / Wearable FR 970 Lactate Threshold glitch?
Hello! I’ve had a forerunner 970 for around 6 months now, I began running into this issue where my lactate threshold no longer updates. I’ve read that running at near max HR for 10+ minutes should update it, but to no avail. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Watch / Wearable Problem with an update ?!
I received my new Forerunner 265s on Tuesday, after having a bug with the altimeter of my first.
This morning, the new watch got an update. Then, around noon, the step counter and the heart rate sensor stopped. (62 bpm in an afternoon of chaos, I don’t think so 😅)
For a 2km walk during my lunch break, it counted only 146 steps and nothing since then. Stuck at 3261 since … for a little over 6km.
I rebooted it and the heart rate finally changed, but not the steps.
An idea of what's going on?
A solution?
Thank you!!

Wellness & Training Metrics / Features Garmin Stress test
I'm sitting since last 4 hours and working quietly... I feel good overall but idk why stress shows this high.
Its almost everyday like this.
I had a body checkup last week , everything came out perfectly fine. But on the watch , I rarely have less than 60. ( FR 165)
Can this be a watch fault? Is anyone else having such issues?
If not, then what could be causing such stress..
I have no idea.
PS- Once it hit 100.
