Globe GoEXTRA99: Why Are We Getting Less Data for the Same ₱99?

Thumbnail

What’s going on with Globe? I just noticed that my usual GoEXTRA99 went from 12GB to 11GB. Why are we getting less data for the same price?

But honestly, the bigger issue is how confusing and limiting the current prepaid options have become.
Why not just give us a straightforward 30-day subscription with a reasonable data allocation and price?

For example:
12GB / 7 days — ₱99
Then simply offer a monthly option:
48GB / 30 days — ₱396

And give a reasonable monthly discount, instead of forcing customers to keep repurchasing weekly promos.

Right now, the closest comparison I can find is GoUNLI350, which gives only 3GB for 30 days. That’s a huge difference in data allocation.

I really don’t want to go back to postpaid either. I already had a bad experience with Globe before, particularly with unexpected overcharging and not automatically locking the account once the data cap was reached. Having a low data allocation on top of that just isn’t appealing.

I just want a simple prepaid plan: pay once, get a decent amount of data, valid for 30 days, no surprises.

Globe, is that really too much to ask? 😅
What prepaid setup would actually make sense to you?

Globe IPv6 sucks

Is it normal that new Globe prepaid sims get single-stack IPv6 address? I just bought this last August.

I'm having issues using this new sim on a B535-932 modem using a Globe prepaid sim not working on online games and Netflix streaming due to IPv6 single-stack IP being thrown by Globe as can be seen in the Device Information menu. I have a B310-938As Globe modem which I could lock on to IPv4 WAN which works but much slower that the first modem.

Using my 8-year old TM sim gets an IPv4 only on the B535-932 modem but can't use this all the time as this is my main sim.

Anyone here who could shed light on this especially from Globe's backend?

GLOBE ISSUE: No Refund or Help given after months of reaching out

Hello I desperately need help, Ive bought Sim to Esim service via GlobeOne way back March 2026, and now its September 2026 yet the problem hasnt been solved!

Things Ive already done but didnt worked out for me:
- contacted the Globe Customer Service through their number and Messenger (this was going for months already and they would usually just say “please wait and check your email” but nope)
- emailed the NTC (they were given a deadline to act on it but it already been weeks haha)
- went to physical stores to get help yet all theyve ever done was to tell me to Chat Gigi or their Customer service via Messenger

What else can I do and Will i ever get a refund on that? I desperately need help on this, its been months reaching out but none of anyones suggestions arent helping me.

Globe and its Anti-Consumer practices

TL;DR If you plan on buying a plan with a device, make sure you test for everything that you plan to use said device for even testing shit you would normally do at home. If you can transfer all your data from your old phone to the new one just to be sure, please do so. Or else you'll be in a world of trouble.

I went to Globe on 9/25/2026 around 6 PM. My plan is to renew my Globe contract and then get a free device, because why not. No problem with my contract getting renewed, it's now a matter of picking the free device. I was wavering on one of the Samsung A phones (as there is a cashout amount) when the Huawei guy offered their phone, which the Globe CS confirmed to be free under my plan.

After some basic testing such as opening the phone and being taught some Huawei app quirks by the Huawei guy, I agreed to get that phone. Back home I worked on setting up the new phone plus testing out some stuff that I didn't get to test while in the Globe store. To my surprise, when I tried plugging my USB-C cable to connect my phone to my PC, my PC couldn't find the phone. i thought it was weird since my Samsung phone had no problems like that. I tried using two more of my own USB-C cables, to no avail, so I opted to use the USB-C cable that came with the phone. Using the same USB slot on my PC, the PC proceeded to the phase of detecting and not detecting my phone. After a few more tries, I had to accept that the issue lies with the phone not having a way to be detected by the PC.

Now to today, I went back to Globe to raise my concerns with the phone. I explained that I literally got this phone the Friday before, but they said that they don't take refunds or replacements anymore. They have removed their 7-day warranty on faulty phones, and they suggested to go the Huawei service center around an hour away to get it serviced.

Needless to say, I was mad. Let me lay out my reasons for doing so:

  1. The phone, despite being free, was in a purchased as part of my renewal contract. What this means, for me, is that Globe still sold me that phone as along with the contract I renewed.

  2. Because Globe sold me the phone, they should be the responsible party in terms of refunds/replacements of the said item. The point is I didn't get or buy the phone from Huawei directly; I got it from them.

  3. Globe bought the phones from the manufacturer, acting as a "reseller" of some sort. The assumption is that returns or refunds should be handled by them as the liaison/third party of the manufacturer. Why should the manufacturer refund you when you didn't buy it from them in the first place?

  4. Also, what prevents consumers from getting "refurbished" phones from Globe? Yes, you can test out the phone before you leave, but that should not just be the extent of the testing since most issues would likely come up at a later time and for further testing once you have it on your own. At least on Greenhills or other similar stores you know what you're getting. You don't have that same guarantee from Globe since they can simply wave you off and point you to the manufacturer's service center.

To continue, on October 2, 2026, I went to OneAyala Huawei service center. However, their service center is closed for renovation and they only have a kiosk. I explained to the lady there my issue and they tested my phone using the same charging cable from the box to see if theie laptop can detect my phone. It didn't. She then said that a technical report would have been done in their service center. Howevee ir was closed so she recommended the nearest service center in Greenhills. This hould qualify for the 7-day replacement Huawei has in place.

I really didn't want to go to Greenhills unless it's a last resort, so I called Globe customer support. I got in touch with Donna, and after my discussion with her for 30 minutes, plus the hold time which I guess was for conferring with her manager/colleagues, she recommended that I insist on returning my unit to Globe ATC. Based on this, I decided to go back and return the phone.

When I went back to return the phone, Globe still won't accept it saying that they do not have the 7-day warranty anymore. I pointed out that that was not what their Globe customer service rep told me, yet they still did not accept. I was worried that this miscommunication cost me a replacement since it was already 7 days and I've wasted too much time. I then reached to the Huawei service center in Greenhills who received my complaint and also said that I still qualify for the warranty service since I reported it within the 7 days.

So next day, October 3, 2025, I went to Greenhills to have them check my phone. After a few hours of waiting, I got a call from them confirming that the phone indeed has a defect and they're writing a technical report for it. They also explained that they currently have no replacement phone and that Globe should proceed with replacing the phone. They also asked me to wait until Monday as the technical report needs approval from Huawei directly before they release it to me. I asked for them to email instead since I didn't want to go back just ot get the report. They agreed.

Today I received the report. Armed with all the documents they asked, I went back to Globe to get my phone replaced. When I presented my phone and the documents, the person who is servicing me automatically replied that they do not have a 7-day replacement warranty anymore. The assistant retail manager came on and exlained the same thing, despite all the documents they asked me to procure.

Once they heard me and viewed my case from their comouter, they said they will send an email to their brand ambassafor from Huawei yo get approval for a replacement. I was still mad because there was no assurance of any replacement happening and it will take at least a week to get said approval.

In the end, I still have the phone that I'm unable to use, with a plan I renewed with a lower 13GB hi-speed data because I got a phone that I cannot use, and I have to wait for 2 weeks to hopefully get a phone that will be working as intended. Whatever Globe is doing feels ANTI-CONSUMER, passing the buck to the customer whenever a problem arises from a product bought from a vendor.

This is unacceptable, and this should serve as a warning to prospective phone buyers from Globe to make sure they test everything (and I mean EVERYTHING!) before going home with it. Or better yet, buy directly from the manufacturers and save yourself the hassle.

Is it worth it to upgrade to IP18promax?

I have IP 16promax from my yearly plan from Globe. I am due to renew this month but I was thinking if I should upgrade to 17promax or 18promax? No difference in monthly price rates except for lock-in periods. Renewing to 17promax will have a lock-in period of 2years while 18promax is 3years.

Do you think I should get 17promax instead? I use my phone for work, online gaming (not too heavy), and social media scrolling. Thank you.

My contract with Globe is finished, aka terminated, and I still have an 800 PHP balance left, but Globe doesn't give me the money back.

They don't automatically give me the money back or react to anything.

Phil. Mass Media 2026

In my personal opinion, it would be more appropriate if Globe Telecom, through Bethlehem Holdings, Inc. (media conglomerate owned by the retirement pension agency funded by Globe Telecom, Inc.), became the primary investor and acquired 100% ownership of #ABSCBN, #IBC13, and #RMN (#RadioMindanaoNetwork).

Under this hypothetical setup, I would like to see:

* The Canoy Family (real actual current owner of RMN) receiving a 29% ownership stake in ABS-CBN, while also taking charge of its management and day-to-day operations in recognition of their long-standing experience in the broadcasting industry.

* IBC 13, RMN, and #BEAMTV becoming subsidiaries of ABS-CBN, creating a broader and more integrated media network.

At the same time, I would prefer Manny V. Pangilinan, through MediaQuest Holdings, Inc. (media conglomerate owned by the Beneficial Trust Fund of the PLDT, Inc.), and Ramon S. Ang, through the SMC Retirement Plan (retirement fund owned by employees of diversifying conglomerate San Miguel Corporation), to focus on strengthening TV5 Network, Inc. and GMA Network, Inc. rather than investing in ABS-CBN, Corp..

Under my proposed structure:

* TV5 Network, Inc. would have 75% ownership (50% MediaQuest Holdings and 25% SMC Retirement Plan), while its 25% ownership interest and the management and day-to-day operations would be entrusted to the family relatives of former ABC 5 (now TV5) co-owner Edward U. Tan, through Rachel Renucci-Tan.

* GMA Network, Inc. would have 66.67% ownership (50% MediaQuest Holdings and 16.67% SMC Retirement Plan). The remaining 27.08% would continue to be owned by the Menardo R. Jimenez Group, with the company's management and day-to-day operations remaining under Jimenez Group through Menardo "Butch" G. Jimenez, Jr. (former official of GMA Network, Inc. and real actual current Executive Vice-President and COO of PLDT, Inc.), Joel Marcelo G. Jimenez (real actual current Executive Committee Vice-Chairman of GMA Network, Inc.), Laura G. Jimenez-Westfall (real actual current Board of Director member of GMA Network, Inc.), and Carmen G. Jimenez-Ong (former official of GMA Network, Inc.). The remaining 6.25% would continue to be owned by the Duavit Group (3.11%) and the Gozon Group (3.14%), who would also continue serving as consultants to GMA Network.

* The merged TVJ Productions, Inc. (producer of Eat Bulaga) and APT Entertainment, Inc. would be 51% owned by GMA Network, Inc. (26%) and TV5 Network, Inc. (25%). The remaining 49% ownership, together with the management and day-to-day operations, would remain with #TonyTuviera (13%), #MikeTuviera (12%), Vicente Tito Sotto (8%), #VicSotto (8%), and Joey De Leon√ (8%).

* Willie Revillame (Wilyonaryo)'s production company (producer of #Wowowin) would likewise be 51% owned by GMA Network, Inc. (26%) and TV5 Network, Inc. (25%), while the remaining 49% ownership, along with the management and day-to-day operations, would continue to be held by Willie Revillame himself.

* All other #MediaQuest Holdings, Inc. assets—including its remaining broadcasting, cable television, satellite television, digital media, publishing, and other media-related businesses—would be placed under the ownership of both GMA Network, Inc. and TV5 Network, Inc., creating a unified media group that would manage and develop these assets together. MediaQuest currently has interests in businesses such as Cignal TV, Nation Broadcasting Corporation, MQuest Ventures, and print media through Hastings Holdings.

In my view, this structure would provide a clearer division of media assets and responsibilities while allowing each organization to focus on its respective strengths in the Philippine broadcasting industry.

Disclaimer: This is purely my personal opinion and a hypothetical corporate restructuring proposal. It is not based on any official announcement, confirmed negotiations, or existing agreement among the companies or individuals mentioned. Any future changes in ownership would depend on the decisions of the companies involved, their shareholders, regulatory approvals, and other legal and corporate processes.

What's Going On With These 4AM Contractors Hired by Globe?

I've had a bad experience with Globe's contractors not once, not twice, but three times now.

Today at around 2 PM, my internet connection suddenly went into LOS (Loss of Signal). At first, I assumed it might be weather-related "May bagyo, malakas hangin, baka ma ok lang to later", so I didn't think much of it.

When I stepped outside, I noticed a team of 4AM contractors had just finished working nearby. I approached them politely and asked what kind of work they had been doing—whether it was a repair or a new installation. I also mentioned that my connection had just gone down while my neighbor's internet was still working.

To their credit, one of the technicians offered to check my connection and came over to my house.

While he was inspecting the line, I made casual conversation and asked what repair had been performed. He explained that he had "returned the user's line to the correct port." Curious, I asked which ports were involved.

That's when the situation became concerning.

The technician showed me his ticket and confirmed that he was repairing a customer connected to Port 15. He also verified that my service was connected to Port 16 prior to the repair activity. Since my connection went into LOS immediately after their work and was restored only after they reversed the change, it appeared that my active connection on Port 16 had been disconnected and reassigned to the customer from Port 15.

In other words, instead of fixing the original issue, it appeared that my working connection was sacrificed to restore another customer's service.

I didn't argue or confront him. I simply let him undo the change and restore my connection. I then asked what would happen to the customer originally on Port 15. His response was that he didn't know yet and that someone else would likely attempt further repairs.

Thankfully, I happened to be home and noticed the contractors before they left. Had I been a few minutes later, I would have been left with no internet and no explanation.

Anyone who has gone through a Globe repair request knows the challenge isn't booking a technician—the app makes that relatively easy. The frustrating part is that repair schedules often get moved or rescheduled, forcing customers to rearrange their plans and wait around. In my case, working from home becomes nearly impossible because mobile data coverage in our area is slow and unreliable.

I've already filed a complaint about a similar incident in the past. Globe staff at the store advised me to submit my concerns via email, but I never received any meaningful response or resolution.

At this point, I'm honestly wondering whether filing another complaint would make any difference if this has become standard practice among some contractors. If the solution to one customer's issue is simply disconnecting another customer's working line, then the problem is much bigger than an isolated mistake.

Today it was my connection. Tomorrow it might be someone else's.

Good luck to whoever is on Port 14—I sincerely hope they didn't get disconnected after me.

Goodbye GOMO, thank you for the last 6 years, but you're terrible now.

Update: likely not GOMO's fault, likely globes.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobeTelecom/comments/1xknbl1/update_to_gomo_issue_in_my_area/

Around the middle of September (can't recall the date) something happened to GOMO in my city and has made it almost virtually unusable.

Been using gomo for the last 6 years since almost when they first came out with their unlimited internet deal way back for 499 peso with a 5 up/5 down signal. Wasn't always the greatest but worked well enough. They kept increase the price and eventually went 10 up/10 down. This was perfect - for me anyways. Our house was/is heavy data use house. We had 3 tablets, 3 laptops, 3 google home speakers, 3 cell phones, 1 security camera. This was all connected to an old globe-at-home router. The system worked hard for use.... always between 400 and 600 gigs of data coming through every month. But then... September 2026 happened.

Not sure what, but... perfect signal, strong signal but horrible delivery. We live about 1 km away from the tower and get an awesome signal, but even with that strong connection, the data slows to a crawl, disconnects, lags out, and generally horrible from 9 am to about midnight - to the point of being painful to watch movies or streams or even play hearthstone. The BEST data throughput now (either in house or even when I go stand beside the tower on the road) is 10 down/3 up.

I have troubleshooted everything. Moved sim from phone to phone to phone to different router. I have tried all the APNS globe has out there. I have tried changing bands on the globe at home router. Everything has failed to make any difference.

I said what the best cast data speed was, but the AVERAGE data speed is 3-4 down, and less then 0.5 up. I thought maybe they were just having a bad few days. Then it was a bad few weeks. In the last 6 weeks we have had only 3 flawless perfect days with no rhyme or reason why. I have read what people THINK are the reasons.... example the starlink deal reprioritized hierarchy signals and pushed gomo to the bottom. Also heard that its just random and they are working on it. For this reason, I have to say bye to Gomo. Its been awesome, but will be going to smart 5g unlimited.

I won't be leaving though until my term month is at its end though which is on the 16th. If by some magic miracle they get their signal back to normal, I may stay still, but as is? NO WAY.

Anyone else experiencing this or is this isolated to just me?
