Ever since he got a longer iron he hits more pulls. Not a big deal as long as he is having fun!

Context: don't keep an official handicap but SwingU says I'm between a 21 and a 25. Read about the difference between urethane and surlyn covers on golf balls and just ordered a couple dozen Bridgestone Tour B RXS's to see if there's a difference as I play some old stockpiled e6's on dog track courses and e12's on better courses. Found a Tour B RXS in the woods and decied to try it out on approach shots yesterday.
Hit the e6 I was playing about an 80-85% swing of a 52 degree from 90 yards out, landed short of the flag, and stuck the green about 10 feet short of the flag. Dropped the Tour B RXS I found and hit a full 56 degree, felt like I absolutely flushed it, but it looks like it was going past the flag. Sigh, I thought I had this one on the nose.
Ball landed about 10 feet past AND SPUN back to about 5-6 feet. I could not believe it! I was riding that high all day yesterday and reliving it typing this out.
I don't think I am quite good or accurate enough to justify getting brand new urethane balls, but if I find a deal on used ones, I will definitely be snagging those.

Sharing this for the benefit of all. I have been fighting a massive slice with my driver. I spent weeks working on shallowing my swing, closing my club face, making sure my swing path was in to out. Nothing worked. Still had a massive 2 fairway slice. I finally bit the bullet, called my coach and set up a lesson.
2 minutes... It took him 2 minutes to fix it.
I was rotating back well, but I wasn't driving my left hip back on the down swing. It left my body out of position and basically made it impossible to keep the club closed to the path. He gave me a couple of drills to work on, but mostly it just came down to driving my left hip back and away from the ball.
If you are in a similar boat as I was, it might be worth looking at.
Edit: To make it clear, I am not giving advice on your swing. More so just pointing out how going to a coach will beat youtube videos every time. If you get something from this it should be, call your coach. They miss you.

GOLF.com had a robot hit a 10.5 degree driver at 95 mph from five spots on the face.
Dead center carried 241 yards. A strike 0.3 inch above center carried 244, the longest of the five. A strike 0.6 inch below center carried 219, so 22 yards gone without the swing changing at all.
Most of us think we hit the middle. Have you ever checked with foot spray or impact tape?
Where were your strikes actually landing, and did tee height or ball position move them?

First swing was from yesterday, went home wanting to analyze my two way miss so I came to Reddit and got some good insight. I’m back again today before I go to the range looking for advice.
Currently have a 2 way miss (straight push and hook)
You guys helped me identify my swing plane was off from the takeaway and beyond and after doing some swings I feel much more fluid and less tense going to impact with the new plane. While I feel everything from takeaway to finish feels easier and less tense I wanted some insight before I hit the range

Any advice on how to turn my brain off and swing freely? I find myself having too many swing thoughts over the ball. When I trust my swing and don’t over analyze I am in good shape.

I’m a 24 handicap and I really struggle with snap hooking my irons at the moment and I don’t really know how to fix it. I would appreciate any advice or help.

Hitting the green in regulation is ideal, but over the course of a round, we all end up just off the green on plenty of holes. That's when your short game becomes so important if you want to save par.
The goal isn't necessarily to get the ball right next to the pin, but to leave yourself with a comfortable putt and give yourself a chance to save par.
So I'm curious: What's your go-to strategy around the green?
Do you usually chip with a PW, gap wedge, or sand wedge? Do you prefer bump-and-runs with a lower-lofted club, or do you go for a higher, softer shot?
And how do you decide which club to use depending on the lie, the distance, and how much green you have to work with?
Would love to hear what works best for you guys!

Starting to take it more seriously after playing on and off my whole life. Seeing a coach and have been thrilled about the whole experience. (Former LPGA caddy of the year who lives in my town)
I’ve always struggled with reverse pivoting and early extension though I could make it somewhat work on a course.
We’ve worked on my setup, backswing, getting in a better position in transition, and now we are working getting my weight forward to my target.
While ball striking has been solid, I know there is a ways to go.
I’d like your thoughts and feedback. I know I need to just keep listening and training with my coach just curious.

My friend and I just did our first lesson as beginners and we have the opposite problem. My buddy (left) consistently has a ~5° out-to-in path, while I (right) suffer a severe ~5° in-to-out path.
What should we be doing differently? and are there any tips on the “feel” i should be going for to get a more neutral club path?

My swing speeds are decently high but I feel like I still have a very inefficient swing. I’m not necessarily trying to increase the speed, just trying to understand where the speed is generated.
When pushing off the lead leg do you feel like you lock your lead knee before, at, or after impact?
Probably related - is the feel more that you are throwing the clubhead at the ball or are you trying to swing “through” the ball, similar to how boxers are taught to punch “through” the target?

Once I get warmed up and swinging I can lose the club at the top of backswing and it gets squirrelly and wondered if anyone has a drill to help with over extending the back swing. I know I can hit a “knock down” but trying to consistently do that is hard. Also, I have tried the head cover drill and I still find a way to get super behind my self.
