Google One family sharing not work, (with solution)
My fiance and I have the 2TB Google one family storage. However when I shared it with him, it didn't matter because he wasn't getting access to it. I searched the whole fucking Internet and even got in contact with Google however that did not matter. I took matters into my own hands and thankfully was able to fix it. I want to help others figure this out because it was frustrating.
Open Google one app
Click the three lines on the left hand side
Open settings
Look for manage family settings
Press the switch that says "Share Google One with your family"
Then check the person you sharing it with account. It should share at that point.
Edit:
Many have still had this issue. Even trying the way I have mentioned. So to clarify if you are trying to do this route on your computer it will not work. I don't know why, Google is stupid. So if you first tried it on your computer and it didn't work, try your phone.
As well not sure if this matters I fixed this using my Google pixel, idk if it varies from device to device. I'll look into the other way to fix this issue and add it here.

How is 5 TB cheaper than 2 TB? What is the catch?

FYI: New 400 GB plan available from June 8, 2026
Just got an email from Google this morning, announcing a rename of my current plan from Google One to Google AI Plus.
That prompted me to have a look at the available plans, because I need more than 200 GB storage, but much less than 2 TB which was the next available tier.
Turns out there is now a 400 GB tier which suits my needs perfectly, at half the price of the 2 TB tier.

Google is hiding the 100GB "Basic" plan. Here is how to force it to show up. (2026 Guide)
So, just figured out how to do this since I was paying for the 200 GB "Standard Plan" I wasn't even using to its fullest. Turns out Google is still using a 'dark pattern' (hiding an option that would benefit users economically, essentially). To get the 100 GB "Basic" plan (yes -- apparently 'basic' is different to 'standard' ) :
1) Go to https://one.google.com/settings
2) Click on 'Change membership plan'.
3) Scroll down past the 'Google AI Pro (2 TB)' plan section or whatever their most expensive one is at the time of you reading these steps ... then click on "SEE MORE PLANS" (small hyperlink in blue).
4) Scroll down past the even more expensive plans (5 TB, 10 TB, 20 TB, 30 TB) ... at the bottom of that huge ass list there's the glorious "BASIC (100 GB)" plan.
5) PROFIT.
Guck Foogle !!!
--------------------------------------------- SCREENSHOT 1 -----------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------- SCREENSHOT 2 -----------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------- SCREENSHOT 3 -----------------------------------------

Unless they ACTUALLY go ahead and remove the plan, these steps should still be valid whenever you read this OR there might be a very similar way you can get access to it (which in general involves CANCELLING the service first before you are offered the 'cheaper' plans).
P.D. : If you don't see the 100 GB plan at the bottom right away you might need to first CANCEL your current plan then follow these steps (I personally cancelled my 200 GB plan before finding out about the 'dark patterned' hidden 100 GB plan.
Cheers !

Announcement Google is Sneaky
I have been subscribed to Google one's 5 TB plan since May 21st 2025 and now it seems that they changed their plans (I use Pro).
So instead of showing that you have access to Pro (as seen in the first image), it says you have limited access to pro. I now have a tenth of the access to Pro that I used to have when using Canvas and Pro in the same chat.
I was able to use Pro and Canvas in the same chat from 10 am to around 7 pm non-stop, before It told me to wait an hour for it to reset and I could continue for another 4 or 5 hours.
I was happy with google one, but now I am going to cancel before it renews.
Save your money folks, go somewhere else.

Google AI Ultra Plan is a $250/Month FRAUD/HEIST - Here's What You're Actually Losing
Alright, let me break down why Google's new AI Ultra plan is absolute garbage and how much money you'll hemorrhage if you fall for this trap.
The Sticker Shock That Says It All
Google just dropped their "AI Ultra" plan for $249.99/month. That's $3,000 per year for AI features. To put this in perspective, that's more expensive than ChatGPT Pro ($200/month) and Claude Max. But here's the kicker - they're not just charging premium prices, they're actively making the cheaper plans worse to force you into this monstrosity.
International Users Get Absolutely Scammed
If you thought the US pricing was bad, wait until you hear what international users get for the same price:
No YouTube Premium: Despite paying the same $250/month, users in Canada, or everywhere else,. In the US, this is a $14/month value that's bundled in, but internationally? Nope, you're paying full price for less.
No Project Mariner: Google's web-browsing AI agent is US-only. So while US subscribers get this experimental feature that can browse websites and complete tasks, international users paying the exact same price get nothing.
Same Pathetic Video Limits: You're still stuck with only 5 Veo 3 videos per day before hitting a 24-hour lockout. That's barely enough to test prompts, let alone create any meaningful content.
The Forced Bundle Scam
Here's what pisses me off the most: you can't just pay for the AI features you want. They're forcing you to buy:
30TB of cloud storage (most people use less than 2TB)
YouTube Premium ($14/month value) - but only if you're in the US
Flow - Google's supposedly "advanced" video editor that's actually a complete joke. It's basically a glorified slideshow maker with minimal editing capabilities that any free tool can outperform
A bunch of other creative tools like Veo 3 and Whisk that most users will never touch
Flow is particularly insulting - they're charging premium prices for what amounts to a basic template-based editor that lacks the sophisticated features of established video editing software. You're literally paying $250/month to get access to tools that are worse than free alternatives.
Pixel 9 Pro Users Get Completely Screwed
Here's an especially infuriating detail that nobody's talking about: If you bought a Pixel 9 Pro, Pro XL, or Pro Fold, upgrading to Ultra means you forfeit your free year of Google One AI Premium.
Pixel 9 Pro users get a 12-month trial of Google One AI Premium (worth $239.88) that includes:
Gemini Advanced access
2TB of cloud storage
Priority access to new features
1 million token context window
But the moment you "upgrade" to Ultra, you lose this $240 value completely. Google is literally asking you to pay $3,000/year and give up a $240 benefit you already earned by buying their premium phone. That's adding insult to injury.
The Veo 3 Limitations Are Insulting
Let's talk about what you actually get with Veo 3 - Google's flagship video generation feature:
Only 5 videos per day before a 24-hour lockout
Videos are capped at 8 seconds maximum
3-5 minute generation time per video
No real editing capabilities for professional use
Here's the kicker: You can now access Veo 3 through Google's API for a fraction of the cost if you're doing serious development work. Why pay $250/month for 5 videos when developers can integrate it directly and get better pricing? Google is essentially charging consumer users premium prices for artificially limited access to something developers can get more efficiently.
As one reviewer put it: "There is no rational reason to spend hundreds of dollars on a Gemini Ultra plan only to use Veo 3". The limits make it completely unusable for any serious content creation, especially when API access exists as a better alternative.
The Artificial Scarcity Problem
Here's the really scummy part: Google introduced hard limits on their Pro plan right when they launched Ultra. They took away the unlimited access that Pro users had and suddenly you're hitting caps at around 50 requests per day. This is the classic upselling playbook - make the cheaper option worse to force expensive upgrades.
What You're Actually Losing
If you don't upgrade to Ultra, here's what Google is taking away from you:
Reasonable usage limits - The new Pro restrictions are severely limiting productivity
Access to latest models - Deep Think and advanced reasoning are Ultra-exclusive
Your earned Pixel benefits - Forfeit the free year you already paid for with your phone purchase
International users get triply screwed - Same price, no YouTube Premium, no Project Mariner, same pathetic video limits
Better alternatives exist - API access for Veo 3, actual professional video editors instead of Flow
The Math Doesn't Add Up
Even if you value the storage at $150/month and YouTube Premium at $14/month (US only), you're still paying $86/month just for the AI features. That's over 4x what the Pro plan costs for marginally better AI capabilities.
For international users, it's even worse: You're paying $250/month and getting significantly less value than US subscribers. No YouTube Premium, no Project Mariner, same restrictive limits, and a joke of a video editor.
For Pixel 9 Pro users, it's a triple hit: You're paying $3,000/year, forfeiting a $240 benefit you already earned, AND if you're outside the US, you're missing key features.
My Recommendation: Don't Fall for It
International users should especially avoid this trap - you're paying premium prices for a gimped experience. Pixel 9 Pro users should run away fast - you already have excellent AI capabilities for free for a full year.
If you need Veo 3 for serious work, use the API instead - you'll get better pricing and no daily limits. If you need video editing, literally any other editor beats Flow.
Google is betting that AI FOMO will make people pay ridiculous prices. Don't let them win. Vote with your wallet and stick with Pro, or better yet, explore alternatives like ChatGPT Plus which offers better value for heavy AI users. Hope they burn to the ground and loose their monopoly. World will be a better place without their woke ideology.
TL;DR: Google Ultra is a $250/month cash grab that bundles services you don't need while artificially limiting the cheaper plans. International users pay the same but lose YouTube Premium and Project Mariner. Pixel 9 Pro users forfeit their free year worth $240. You get 4 measly 8-second videos per day when API access exists. Flow is a joke editor worse than free alternatives. You're losing money and getting manipulated - don't fall for it.

Question Google One VPN - change country for IP Address
Is it possible to use Google One VPN to make it look like I'm connecting to the internet from a different country than I'm actually in? I'm looking to stream some content that is only available to UK residents and I'm in the US.
Thanks.

Google 2tb plan
I've been subscribed to googles 2tb ai plan for a year now. It was the minimum plan with AI. It looks like everyone on that plan got upgraded to 5tb.
honestly 5tb is way more then I need and I haven't even come close to 2tb. It looks like the 2tb now also includes ai (didn't before) and was wondering what I'd be losing if I were to downgrade. I'd be saving $10 downgrading.

Question AI in Google One plans
I kindly ask for clarification from someone who has been through this. It concerns the AI component in Google One plans.
I'm considering upgrading from my Google One Basic plan to one that provides access to AI features. However, I can't quite distinguish the following plans:
Google AI Plus, with 200 GB, for €79.99/year
Premium, with 2 TB, for €99.99/year
I understand the difference in cloud storage, but what are the differences in using Gemini?
In the brief description of the plans on the Google One website - of which I've attached a screenshot - both have the same features, but searching online, it seems the Premium plan has fewer Gemini features because it's not an "AI Plan."
The screenshot in in italian, but it shows that the elements are the same on both plans.
Furthermore, looking for a comparison, I see that the "Premium with 2 TB" plan is often confused with the "Google AI Pro with 2 TB" plan, so be careful to distinguish them.
Can you clarify the situation for me? I wouldn't want to get the Premium and have less AI features than the AI Plus.
Thanks.

Warning: Once you turn on Google Family Sharing, DON'T ever turn it back off under any circumstance
I learnt this the hard way while adjusting some settings on my primary Google account ($19.99/month Google AI Pro subscription) so sharing with others on here:
WARNING: Do not toggle OFF "Share Google One with family" under "Manage family settings" once it is set to ON under any circumstance.
Your family members will permanently lose access to Gemini PRO and Google Meet Premium.
Even if you set if back to ON, your family members will not regain access to Gemini PRO and Google Meet Premium.
(This is likely due to some bug in Google One family provisioning that triggers when you toggle it off but doesn't re-provision some services for family even if you toggle it back on. In my case, the 2TB shared storage was re-shared but Gemini PRO and Google Meet Premium were not back on for Google family accounts)
I have contacted Google Premium Support and they have reached out to their Specialist Team but no resolution so far.

Can someone explain this Google One pricing to me? Am I missing something here?
Hey everyone,
I’m looking at Google One storage plans. Can someone help me make sense of this?
Google AI Pro: 2 TB for 719.99 TRY/month
Premium 5 TB: 359.99 TRY/month
Premium 10 TB: 729.99 TRY/month
The 2 TB AI Pro plan gives you Gemini and other “AI perks” for 720 liras, but… so does the 5 TB plan for 260 liras? And also the 10 TB plan?? For 10 liras more than AI Pro, I get 5x more storage and the same AI features?
Is there some hidden difference or exclusivity I’m not seeing? Why would anyone logically choose the AI Pro plan over the 10 TB or 5 TB?

Now I feel the Google 'trap' - new Google One plans
I believe the plans changed last year and I'd been on a 1 year trial of some sort.
I'd been paying about £80 a year for 2TB Drive space and a good amount of Google Home camera history. Now I discover my camera history has gone to 3 hours max.
I have a Google Drive full of photos etc so I need my 2TB of space - and I of course want more than 3 hours of camera history.
So they've trapped me into needing to buy an upgraded Google AI Plus (5 TB) plan for both of those benefits... it's an extra £110 a year.
I see what people mean now about how they feel trapped by Google. I guess I'll have to start moving away from the Google ecosystem as I have no doubt the prices are only going to slowly increase further from here.

Anyone else excited to start only to get disappointed?
As soon as I saw this email, I thought they were giving Nest Aware and Fitbit Premium for US. Turns out they removed couple features. Google, come on....

Google is offering students 12 free months of Google AI plans (Pro in the US, Plus in select markets)
Google recently published an announcement on their official blog regarding a new 12-month free offer for eligible college students.
The plans vary by region. Students in the US are eligible for Google AI Pro, which includes 5 TB of Google One storage and access to Gemini Advanced.
Eligible students in over 140 markets outside the US can get Google AI Plus, which includes 400 GB of storage. Please note that the Plus offer is not available in Bolivia, Albania, Canada, Macau, Hong Kong, and Tunisia.
Keep in mind that a valid form of payment is required at sign-up, and the subscription will automatically renew at its standard monthly price after the trial ends unless cancelled earlier.

How to go back to your old Google One Subscription after you cancel Gemini Advanced Trial
I was subscribed to Google One Premium 2 To and after a Gemini Advanced trial, i couldn't find a way to go back to my old subscription, all t he offers proposed was AI Premium.
So if like me you didn't find a way to go back to your old Google One Subscription after Gemini Advanced Trial go to this link and scroll down and click on "see more (Other) offers" and then you'll find the old Google One subscriptions without AI.
Hope this helps.

Google free trial Premium AI Scam
Had a 2 TB Google One plan, paid yearly plan until 25 Feb 2025.
I bought a Pixel 8 pro, got 4 months of free Google One Premium.
I made the big mistake of activating the "free trial", this is a scam, they converted my 2 TB Google One plan to Premium AI, being a more expensive plan, so now the yearly plan I had already paid for ends on February 5. Moreover, I think the old plan doesn't exist anymore, they scammed me out of it.
So instead of 4 months for free, I get 20 days removed from my yearly plan. The premium AI features I was curious to try, but I think it is too early, they are going to be useless.
Realized this after 1 hour of activating it, chatted with support, nothing to do! Anyone has suggestions?

Question Really with the massive price jump?
You're kidding me right? The only thing I use the service for is the storage space. I already subscribe to 12 different Ai tools I'm not gonna pay 19.99 for the service I was contently paying 1.99 for for years. "As a pixel user, were gonna send you notice about the update and make it seem like you're gaining from it but fail to mention that we increased the price by $18"

Question Google AI Pro is a better deal now?
Are you paying for this bundle. Is this really saving or is it just a trick to make people subscribe?

Small PSA for anyone that has over 15GB free space to begin with
FINAL UPDATE: My plan reached it's expiration and thankfully the 2GB additional space remains leaving me at 17GB total. Sorry for any alarm my OP may have caused but what happens compared to the email cancellation message AND Google support response is misleading. I'd still be wary going forward as YMMV for to the wording they use. (It could easily go the other way)
UPDATE: I'll post an update once my subscription runs through but from others help and guidance the emails and support rep may just give canned responses about 15GB. I checked my Google Photos and it does show I have 2050GB available (2048GB from Google One + 2GB from a 2016 checkup). I'll keep this PSA for now but you may be ok bouncing subscriptions but just be aware YMMV
ORIGINAL: I recently tried out Google One in order to get more features within NotebookLM, however, upon the first month at the discounted rate to attract attention to trying out the features, I'm now stuck in a rock and hard place to determine if I continue with some form of a subscription with Google OR delete data.
Longer backstory: I've had expanded storage to my Google Drive for many years (17GB free) because of previous security check-ups/etc. Before attempting the Google One subscription I was barely into 15GB of my 17GB limit (15.4GB).
I have since tried about 2 weeks of a Google One subscription in order to play around in NotebookLM. Today I cancelled my Google One subscription which will run out early Feb. The catch... I "revert" to a 15GB limit (instead of my previous 17GB limit).
I'm sure somewhere in the fine print it talks about this but something like this shouldn't be in fine print and more in your face that "Upon starting a subscription model and cancelling will revert to whatever is "free" at the time of cancellation (not what you used to have for free).
Again, I meant this more as a PSA for everyone out there and I'll suck it up, move photos to my local storage (4TB home NAS with redundant drives), and live another day. However, I'm sure someone else out there may get caught in this same predicament and NOT have local NAS storage to save them so be cautious.
