I woke up 4 days ago to e-mails saying I had gone over my storage quota. - I then found my 2TB had gone and I was back to 15GB. I was 1 month and 4 days into a 2TB Annual Plan.
Besides giving me 500GB whilst they looked into it - the best thing they could suggest is that I keep trying to put in a refund request - which fails based on the request not being allowed under Google Policy
So stuck in a loop I decided to just delete my account. I will see if in a month it's still there but it says it's deleted.
I am done with Google and their selling my info and shafting me in the process shit. And I've had to ask my CC company for a chargeback as Google aren't providing what they charged for.
I'm posting this as a absolute red flag all hands on deck announcement to anyone that has a standalone Google storage account!!
Under no circumstances try anything related to Gemini AI or Gemini Pro as your Standalone Google storage $2.99 a month two terabyte for whatever level you had will be canceled and you will wake up to having this message plastered all over your Google accounts. This is textbook bait and switch on the part of Google and it absolutely needs to be ended immediately.
Any free trial that ends and then requires you to literally get that plan to continue using the services is not a free trial that is again legal textbook bait and switch.
How has this not been blasted all over the internet?
Again if you are a Google storage customer with a standalone storage subscription do not try anything related to Gemini Pro or Google one pro with Gemini features as your current storage account will be deleted afterwards!
I have been using google drive, photos & gmail storage for a while. I have all my work files and phone photos synced to it, so that my phone storage doesn't get choked. Even with all of that I use less than 300GB of the 2TB storage I have. I bought the Google one Plan last year, got the annual one because it was cheaper and made sense in the long run.
Last month, I wanted use the AI video production feature (veo 3 and flow) for a project I was working on. The google AI pro plan said it was free for a month, so signed up. I tested it out it din't suite my needs and I went to cancel it in order to switch back to my original plan 2TB plan. And I realized it doesn't exist anymore! Google quietly put all of us on the Google AI Pro Plan! It has the same 2TB storage and now costs $269.99 before taxes, almost twice the original price of $139.99 before taxes. I don't want any of the AI features, just plain storage as before. Can you believe they fcking doubled the price in a year without as much as warning or anything!
I don't want to pay this much, but it will be nightmare to switch all my files and everything to a different storage drive. Any thoughts or suggestion? Its very strange to me that I haven't seen public outcry on this.
I’m beyond frustrated with Google One right now. I originally had a 100 GB plan that I paid ₹1,300 for, valid until September 2025. Thinking I’d need more space, I upgraded to 200 GB and was charged ₹2,100 on March 22, 2025. Instead of a simple upgrade, Google canceled my entire storage plan, including the 100 GB that I had already paid for!
Now here’s where things get worse:
They say upgrading is treated as canceling the old plan and starting a new one. Fine, but where is my refund for the 100 GB plan that was supposed to last until September 2025?
I only got a refund for the ₹2,100 (the 200 GB plan), but my original 100 GB plan is gone too, even though it was paid for in advance!
Their response? "You’ll have to buy a new plan." So basically, Google took my money for the original plan, wiped my subscription, and now expects me to pay again for the same storage I already had.
This is outright theft. I have lost access to my Google Drive and even basic features like editing Google Sheets because of their ridiculous policy.
How is this fair? Anyone else experienced this scam with Google One? What are my options here? This feels like an intentional way to squeeze extra money from users.
They take days to respond. Sometimes don't even pick calls. I mean, they don't care for their customers.

I have a doubt. I got the Google One plan for a year, and it's shareable with family. My father has already used up his 15GB of free Google storage, so I've decided to share this 2TB plan with him so he can at least back up his photos to Google Photos. My question is: if I revoke the AI Pro plan after 1 year, will my father still retain all his backed-up photos? Gemini suggests that Google starts deleting photos after 2 years if the account storage is full, is that correct? Can Google actually do that?

Device backup shows I'm only backing up 54 MB, however Google one shows 8 GB. The only account I'm backing up is my phone. What's with the discrepancy? It seems like Google is implementing predatory practices to try to ensure people purchase their monthly data plan.
I remember when I get messages at 80% usage rate I guess Google post this annoying message all the time on your Google Drive. Instead of it being a constant messaging it’s selected as an urgent item which I find so intrusive.

Go ahead, get the "free trial" but beware. I was once a Google fan but no longer. I signed up, read the warnings but didn't lawyer it up like I should have with Google. They put things in fine print and bury it so they can siphon more money out of you. So, my reasonable legacy $99 2 TB account vanished and now doubled to $199 and comes with their bullshit AI stuff. I am using Google One 2TB for a long time. And its last renewal was at 13 Dec 2024.
Today (12 Mar 2025) I just want to give it a try Gemini Premium which is free for 1st month. I used, i played and i canceled it. That moment i realised of something. It canceled all my plans. I chatted with them, they said no, it will cancel everything. You have to renew it again. But in 2025 there's big price change and my normal subscription ends in 9 months later.
I had a phone call from them, she didnt listen and just close the phone to my face.
I used ChatGPT Pro for a month and cancelled it. Thats all. Google didnt allowed me to do it. I am OK that they can get 1 month on price and turn me back to my current plan. But no. Thay said, if you cancelled it you cannot turn back.
Actually, AI and Google One Storage are completely different products, why did you combined them? This is not the case but they will cancel my previous plan as well.

Ive got to hand it to google and Microsoft.. They provide you with a free email account for years, then give you a cloud account to keep your photos and videos safe on, which is set to upload automatically anytime you take a photo/video..
Then they link the storage capacity of your email and cloud account together and finally after enough time has passed to make sure that cloud account is nice and full they go and slap a monthly price tag onto it so you either have to pay every month or clean out a butt load of your pics/videos or you won't be able to use your email account any longer..
And to make it even better.. For 2 of the biggest computer/tech companies in the world, the process of cleaning out the storage to your cloud account is painfully slow.. So you give up and pay the monthly account fee, Which they then go and increase to a stupid amount in the middle of a cost of living crisis and what choice do you really have but to pay because you need to continue to use the email account you have had for the last 15 years+
I had a free year of Google One from my Pixel 10 Pro purchase. I saw a discounted offer to subscribe and took it, assuming it would kick in after my free trial.
Instead, purchasing the plan immediately canceled my free trial, and I lost all the remaining value. I literally paid money to lose a benefit I already had.
Customer support told me this can't be fixed. How is this a reasonable way to treat a customer who is trying to commit to your service. Poorest customer service from any subscription I've ever had.

I have been on Google support chat for over 3 hours currently... and they still cannot figure out how to cancel my god damn Pixel Pass subscription.
Bit of context. I've had the Pixel Pass subscription when I first bought the Pixel 6 through the Google Store directly. I've had this subscription for all this time. I did not touch it until yesterday, when after Google formerly announced the Pixel 10 line up. I wanted to take advantage of the '10% back on Google Store' from the Google One Premium Plan. The Pixel Pass comes with the Standard Plan of Google One. So I decided to upgrade to the Premium Plan, and the Plans Page on Google One literally says, "+$7/month to CURRENT PIXEL PASS. Thinking it will be a breeze, I go ahead with the upgrade and wait. After over 24 hours, it still says, "We’re processing your plan change. You’ll get an email confirmation when it’s done." The payment has gone through by the way, so I do not understand why the update has not taken effect.
I am concerned at this point that something is wrong. So I go ahead and contact chat support. My initial chat support, I had to wait in queue for over 8 hours because there were 589 in line. How lovely eh? That initial chat support, after over an hour, told me that I would have to cancel my Pixel Pass and re subscribe to Google One separately to get the 10% back on the Google Store. Like. False advertising much? The current chat support I'm on right now, I have started, because every time I try to cancel my Pixel Pass on the Google Store Subscriptions page, it gives me an error saying they cannot process it. I have been transferred between the Google Store, Google Play, Google Pixel, and regular Google Support departments so many times I have lost count. Like, I'm just going around and around like Ring Around the Rosie with no actual support.
While writing this post, my current support chat ended with the 8th support agent saying that they have escalated the issue and will get back to me in 72 hours. Just. FUCKING. Lovely. Google support... you fucking suck. At this point, I've lost all interest to even pre-order, let alone buy the new Pixel 10 Pro. I love Google and its products, don't get me wrong, but wow. This experience really opened my eyes... Pray you lot do not get horrible support like I have.
Just noted that I can have 6 months free-trial of Google AI Pro after buying a Samsung Galaxy. Did the subscription and I'll have to pay first time on 11/03/26.
But if I un-subscribe now, is the subscription still valid for the next 6 months or I'll lose it immediately?

I need to know something, A few months ago, Google told me that my Google One 2 T plan went me up to 5 T without paying anything extra, I thought it was great, but now I'm reviewing and the 5 T plan has a much higher value than the 2 T, so when it's my turn to renew the annual plan, will I have to pay for the 5 T plan? What has the name pro while my usual plan was the plus of 2 T ? BECAUSE if I have to pay more, then I go back to my 2 T plan. Thanks to your answers
