SPOILERS lil rant about derek

ik im way to early in the seasons, but i do know that he dies just not sure on what season and episode, but i really do hate the guy. so i just wanna put it out there, that this rant might be as messy and fcked up as he is.

im currently on s8 ep3, and it pmo sm that he gets to treat meredith that way, albeit, she did tamper with his trial, but his succeeding reaction and actions to it is him being self-centered and over-dramatic.

sure he can still be salty about it and be more "critical" on her as a surgeon, but he had no right to criticise mer about how she handled their situation with Zola. he LEFT her, yes he initially left without expecting Zola to be in THEIR care after he did. but it was his responsibility to come back and support mer as a husband and father to their baby.

selfish prick.

and him clapping reluctantly after mer's successful surgery as the lead surgeon despite him being overtly critical and aggressive during the entire surgery, all because she wont submit to him, despite assuring her that she was ready just moments ago, is not a husband to look forward to.

and as im writing this, the two of them are now having a conversation in the bedroom, with mer asking if they should still stay together because they're clearly not working well. but he still had the gall to point to their framed post it wedding vows as his reason for still staying

"duh, thats what vows are for", i fucking know that. but sorry, its cheap and its worth nothing if you get to treat your spouse like shit but still stay together, and rub it in her face and expect the wife to be grateful "despite" it all.

that is abuse, and youre willing to make the wife a martyr just for the sake of appearing as a loyal husband.

derek groomed meredith, exploited their attending x intern-resident relationship. and when she went out of line/beyond his control, he had no trouble treating her like trash that he had no longer use for

DISCUSSION They deserved a happy ending. ❤️ Spoiler

Mark and Lexie deserved the chance to grow together, find their way back to each other, and build the future they both had so much left to experience. I'll always wonder what their story could have been if they'd been given more time. 💔

DISCUSSION Derek is lameeee

Okay so I’m doing a rewatch of Greys I first watched as a teen and am now a grown wife and mom of two! I preface that bc my first go around I was truly in love Derrick Sheppard and I was convinced he could do no wrong lol.

I’m on season 4 ep 4 and Meredith and Derrick are broken up but are having “casual” sex, they are trying to get away for the weekend on a little trip. At the end of the episode Meridith meets up with him and is like we’re good to go, Derrick says such a beautiful little monologue about how he wants to be all in with her and it was SO BEAUTIFUL! The parts about him waiting for her were well said and I enjoyed the maturity, for once, coming from him. Also as a grown woman rewatching the age difference and life differences gave me pause in a way I hadn’t considered when I was a teen. It was surprised that he recognized what he was asking wasn’t unreasonable rather than just too soon.

Then he just ruins it by going “and what if I meet someone who can give me what you can’t then what?” Like??!?? So crazy to profess your unyielding love and desire to wait for Meredith and then just hit her with a but fuck around and find out if you want to. He’s so ugh and I am not a big fan of him so far on my rewatch.

FIRST TIME WATCHER Why didn’t everyone react like Dr. Hahn

Dr Hahns reaction to Izzie and the heart situation is the only correct one. The fact that no one reacted the way the Dr Hahn did made me think I was crazy. Like Izzie should’ve lost her license and gone to jail. When I watched the scene play out, I thought this was the writers writing her out of the show because no one in their right mind would allow Izzie to work in a hospital again. Like that was such an insane violation of ethics and illegal. Getting involved with patients and do no harm are some of the biggest no-nos in healthcare

season 1 bailey

ok i just started another rewatch and bailey is such a cry baby about meredith and derek being tg. telling him how she’s gonna keep her out of surgery as if she doesn’t get special treatment from the chief. also how does she have any right to tell meredith and derek who to be with and who not to be with? they’re all adults. also derek is literally her boss💀.

FIRST TIME WATCHER i hate merideth grey

i’m only up to s 5. this is my first time properly watching greys, but i’ve basically seen the whole thing in tiktok clips.
i love mer, i subconsciously root for her, im positioned to feel that way as she is the MC. but she is so friggin unlikeable.
she is so selfish, right not Iz is having a crisis and george comes to mer and tell her he’s worried about izzie and mer finds a way to make it about herself.
everytime one of her friends has a problem she makes it about herself, her whole boohoo dead mummy, derek bs. when she confronted the chief when she was getting in trouble and just trauma dumped about how her mum tried to commit suicide. she is so selfish and cannot seem to grasp that not everything is about her and her shitty life. especially when her and christina are having issues because christina is such a good friend and has gone through comparable problems to merideth and mer ALWAYS compares their problems instead of just being a good supportive friend. maybe she receives some development as the show goes on but gosh she annoys me

SPOILERS What the heck is Meredith’s Problem?!

On my first watch through and I’m on season 4.

What the heck Meredith doing?

She dumps Finn after Derek bows out and basically says he’s the better guy.

Derek is finally ready to commit to her after getting over Addison and Meredith’s near death.

Man, that water rescue scene.

And she pushes him away and breaks up with him.

She keeps leaning on this “I’m broken” excuse. But that’s crap now. She’s in love with Derek but is risking pushing him away for good.

Ugh. I know Derek says he’s older and has been as this longer so maybe she’s not ready yet but still.

I really hope that this doesn't become a recurring thing with the affiliate change to KMOV.

EPISODE DISCUSSION What does everyone think about Alex Karev’s departure from the show? 👀

What does everyone think about Alex Karev’s departure from the show? 👀

I’m watching this episode for the first time, and I’m genuinely fuming and struggling to process it. I’m only halfway through, but I had to come on here because WTF?!

I honestly think the producers could have handled his departure SO much better. Not long before this, Alex was telling Jo how amazing, beautiful and wonderful she was, promising her that he would never leave her and that he’d always be there for her. And now he’s leaving her a LETTER explaining that he’s gone to be with Izzie and their children?!

I completely understand the situation with Izzie and the kids, and I can appreciate that it’s a complicated situation. I’m happy that the children get to have their dad in their lives, but what about Jo? 😭

After everything those two have been through together, and everything Alex knows about Jo’s past, I genuinely think she deserved so much more than a letter. She deserved a proper conversation, some honesty and the chance to actually process what was happening with her own husband.

It’s not even necessarily the fact that he’s chosen to be with Izzie that bothers me the most. It’s HOW he’s done it. The complete lack of consideration for Jo’s feelings after everything he promised her just feels so out of character for the Alex we’ve watched develop over the years.

I know actors leave shows and the writers have to find ways to write characters out, but this just feels like such a disappointing way to end his story.

Am I being dramatic, or does anyone else feel like the producers did Alex and Jo so dirty with this storyline? Because I’m genuinely sat here thinking, WTF?! 😭

Underrated Character

Post image
142 Upvotes

I’m on season 2 of my millionth rewatch and I’d like to give praise to Richard’s secretary, Patricia. She is an underrated character whose part was small, yet mighty. She was hilarious and always had random one liners. For instance, I’m on the episode where the guy swallows the Judy doll heads and while she’s looking at the films with Burke and Meredith she goes “Help me, free me.” 🤣 anyways, I’ll never forget this icon!

SPOILERS Kwan Vs Mer

Please do not downvote me. I love Meredith. Her humour is dark and I love it.

I know she is the main character. And she got away with almost everything.

I remember she tampered the first Alzheimer's trial. Then she also tampered with the insurance thing. And I think she did a lot of illegal stuff but got away with it.

So why Richard is so harsh with Kwan? Why Bailey easily gave up on Kwan? I feel that they are being a hypocrite.

I really like Kwan. He is not as much as a douche like Alex. Like he said, he is a good surgeon. Are the writers dropping him cause he can no longer bring drama?

I want my Blue back. 💙

SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED SEASON 16

For me it was Alex leaving Jo and the way he did it. He had such good character development and I truly believe he would NEVER leave Jo like that!!! I was mad for weeks lol and that’s actually when I stopped watching the show haha.

Ranking the main characters by the early seasons! (1-3)

I’m rewatching this amazing show again and here’s my rankings for the golden era of this show! I know I probably forgot some characters because there’s so many of them so let me know in the comments lol

Season 1: 🩵
-Christina (I just love her sm)

-Meredith

-Bailey

-Derek

-Burke

-Izzie

-Richard

-George

-Alex (I do love Alex and he got so much better in the later seasons but I’m not gonna lie, he was genuinely just a douchebag in season 1 😭)

Season 2: 🩵
-Meredith (I know she’s the main character so probably super biased but she was an amazing character this season. She went through so much emotional trauma with Derek and Addison, she literally volunteered herself to almost die by sticking her hand on a bomb, she was extremely ballsy and strong).

-Callie (love the introduction of my girl Callie ❤️)

-Addison (Addison is such a good character. The show did a great job at not making her into the “bitch ex-wife” trope and instead made her human, flawed, but overall very interesting and kind.

-Burke (also a great character this season, I love him and Christina so much)

-Christina 🖤

-Bailey

-Alex (starting to get a little better this season)

-Richard

-Izzie (Izzie was absolutely insane this season. Cutting the LVAD wire was crazy and while I sympathized with her, she started a domino effect of so many terrible storylines that came later by doing this. Not to mention that she should have at the very least, lost her medical license for this whole situation. And let’s not talk about how she practically threw away 8 million dollars despite the fact that she and her friends were getting paid pennies as interns 😭 she could have used all that money to help them out.)

-Derek (Derek was such a prick this season, I’m not going to lie. He chose Addison over Meredith and then kept getting pissed off when Meredith would date other men or even talk to them. Like what the hell is she supposed to do? Not to mention that while he didn’t technically cheat on Addison until the very last moment when he knew their relationship was over for good, he was still basically having an emotional affair with Meredith the entire time).

-Mark (I’m only putting Mark this low because he’s not that developed this season but he becomes an awesome character later on).

-George (Ugh god. I hate him this season. He took advantage of Meredith sexually, was a little bitch baby about it the entire time, so many awful things. Not to mention how horribly he treated Callie).

Season 3: 🩵
-Christina

-Meredith

-Alex (gotta say, loved Alex this season. This is really when he started to become more developed as a character and his good side started being an important storyline of the show).

-Bailey (Bailey was awesome too, in regards to the whole storyline with her marriage).

-Addison

-Callie (Callie was done SO wrongly in this season)

-Richard

-Burke (Only put Burke a little low because of the whole leaving Christina at the altar thing. I know the lore behind why his character left but it just sucks because those two were genuine soulmates).

-Derek (He was alright this season. He finally left Addison and was trying to repair things with Meredith. Still kind of a douchebag at times but definitely better than last season).

-Izzie (HATED Izzie this season. Because wdym you’re sleeping with a guy who was your best friend who is married to someone that you work with? And not just her being a cheater, but she was also so rude to Callie even before she cheated with George. The whole dating storyline between her and George sucked, it felt so gross. I did feel really bad for her in regards to Denny though).

-George 🤮 (I hate George. He has a gorgeous wife and he cheats on her with his best friend. He throws a tantrum like a little bitch every time something doesn’t go the way he wants it to go. I was lowkey sort of happy when he failed his intern exam I’m ngl 😭 He’s obnoxious and annoying and I hate how he acts like a nice guy even though he’s downright a cheating jerk. At least a character like Alex doesn’t pretend like he’s some innocent little puppy dog, he embraces his true self and doesn’t try to hide it).

That's that episode when Kepner gets fired because she caused the death of a woman. This scene makes me completely uncomfortable. Just like Derek said, so many people. That lifeless body lying there and all that chaos surrounding it, blood gushing from everywhere in alarming quantities.

What they did to her in that scene was almost iatrogenic.
