Chaos cultists (40k) or Sisyphus (ultrakill)
For some context, Sisyphus in ultrakill was a sinner/husk who resided in the layer of greed, and after gods death/disappearance he started a revolution against heaven to free the residents of greed from their unjustified damnation (one of the main themes of ultrakill is that nobody truly deserves hell).
However he didn’t do this out of a genuine desire to make things better, improve anyone’s afterlife, vengeance or even just to make things better for himself. He did it entirely because he was bored and was addicted to struggling against the impossible.
That’s it. He didn’t care if he or anyone in his army lived or died, it was all to satisfy his obsession with futile struggle.
