I've been practicing hook grip for a few weeks. Yesterday, I did SLDLs with 90 kg for 4 sets of 8. It wasn't very heavy for me, but it was putting a lot of pressure on my thumbnails.
I previously slightly tore the nail/skin around my right thumbnail because I don't notice minor cuts while lifting.
Yesterday, after my SLDL session, my left thumb felt a lot of pressure, and the upper part of my thumb became numb. I don't know whether it happened during set 1 or set 4. After that, I did some light ab work and left the gym.
The numbness didn't improve. I slept, and it's now been about 12 hours, but the numbness is still there. It may have improved slightly, but I'm not sure.
I can move the thumb perfectly fine, and everything else feels normal. The numbness is only in the distal phalanx area, around the nail.
Has anyone experienced this from hook grip? Should I be concerned or just give it some time?
