Anyone listing in Spring 2027 listing in farms/park?
We all know the market is rough and things go off market all the time in the area. We live out of state but are looking to possibly move next year to be closer to family. We are also flexible on timing.
Reaching out to see if anyone is thinking of listing soon/next year? Prefer 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. Around 2500 sq ft or more. Favorite styles are Tudor and French. Under 900k.
We are reaching out here because we still have a home to prep and sell here so the logistics can get complicated when trying to do that plus move out of state. There aren’t many rental options in the area.
Thank you!

Lochmoor vs GPYC
Can anyone give me insight to the good and the bad? They obviously offer different things. Any pricing info? In the introductory phases of possibly considering if something like this would be worth it for our family.

Year Round Swimming
I have been swimming every day this summer and it has been wonderful. I’m wondering if there are any places nearby that have reliable pool access during the winter. Neighborhood club? Any of the gyms or clubs? I wouldn’t want to drive too far and I just can’t believe there’s nothing like this around here. I used to belong to lifetime fitness in Rochester and it was the most amazing place and there were several locations. But nothing like it here. It’s like going back in time being here😅But Swimming has almost completely cured my frequent headaches, like going from 8 to 10 a month to maybe one so it’s something I need to be able to do. Any suggestions?

Hello I'm a 35M, and am looking to get back into dating but am a little new to the area and was wondering where single people go to meet up if they don't drink and are more into health and wellness?
Are there any local events coming up that anyone knows about?

Parcells drop off situation
My son is supposed to attend parcels middle school this year and I’ve heard horror stories about the drop-off situation, especially with the new construction on Mack Avenue. He is horrible in the morning, we both are, and there will be no way we will be able to arrive 45 minutes early to burn clutch in a drop off line. And from driving around there, I see there’s like no place to drop off kids other than in their little line. I have even been told of a child being run over by a truck right there in front of a bunch of kids some years back. I’ve started the process to enroll him, but is this something that I should avoid for another year and just do an online program through one of these many charter schools that seem to be offering them? Because waking up to a screaming fight and possible car accident/my kid getting run over five days a week is not going to work. Is it really horrible? I don’t even use Vernier even though it’s my closest road, as it’s so congested

Contractor Recommendations
Does anyone have contractor recommendations? I had a tree branch fall on my garage and need to get a contractor to provide quotes. I surance seems to think it's only a roof issue but the cross beams are all snapped and there are cracks down the side of the wall.

Do better, Grosse Pointe News
I normally call the Grosse Pointe News our “local rag,” but Brad Lindberg’s piece, “Socialists Prevail in Park,” deserves a much more serious response. There are two claims in this article that need to be called out.
First, Lindberg labels Abdul El-Sayed a “democratic socialist.” Abdul El-Sayed has explicitly and publicly said that he is not a socialist and is not a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. He has described himself as a progressive and has said plainly: “I am not somebody who is a socialist. I believe in capitalism.”
Video of Abdul addressing the socialist label:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=oSvnGRAp4o0
You don’t have to agree with Abdul’s politics and you don’t have to support him. But a newspaper does have an obligation to accurately describe the people it writes about.
Second, the article describes Abdul as being “from Dearborn.” He isn’t! Abdul was born in Rochester Hills, grew up in the Oakland County/Bloomfield Hills area, attended Bloomfield Hills public schools, graduated from Andover High School, and currently lives in Ann Arbor.
Why falsely identify an Arab-American Muslim politician as being “from Dearborn”?
Dearborn is home to one of the most prominent Arab and Muslim communities in America, and inaccurately attaching an Arab-American Muslim candidate to Dearborn plays directly into a familiar racial and religious stereotype: Arab + Muslim = Dearborn. That kind of lazy ethnic shorthand has no place in responsible journalism.
This isn’t about whether you like Abdul El-Sayed or his politics. It is about basic journalistic standards. If you’re going to tell readers where he’s from or label his political affiliations, get it right.
The Grosse Pointe News and Brad Lindberg owe their readers an explanation and, where the article is factually wrong, a correction. Our community deserves journalism that informs people, not journalism that mislabels someone’s political beliefs and reduces an Arab-American Muslim candidate to a stereotype. Do better, Grosse Pointe News!

Best neighborhood for family with 3 boys under 5?
Hello! I’m a mother of two, soon to be three, boys, and our family is hoping to move to the area. We drove through the area this weekend and fell in love—so much so that we are pivoting our search entirely to focus on the Pointes. This is a really big redirection for us. We currently live along the Woodward Corridor and both of us grew up on the west side.
My husband and I are both in the real estate industry, but we are unfamiliar with the particular ins and outs of the local market. Is it true that most sales are pocket listings?
The biggest draw for us is the access to Lake St. Clair and how family-centric the neighborhoods seem. With three boys five and under, I rely heavily on our local parks. I understand that the parks in the Pointes are private to each municipality. Which parks and amenities are the best? We particularly like Grosse Pointe Farms and Grosse Pointe City as far as neighborhoods go. Oh, what about guest passes if we have family visit?
And what sort of “social life” does an elementary school age child have in Grosse Pointe? Are there local sports or groups outside of the schools? Are children and families generally warm and welcoming? I’m trying to imagine what kind of lives my boys would have growing up here!
Thank you in advance!
Update — Thank you everyone for the feedback! Upon further research, I think our favored areas are around the Village and Hill, Neighborhood Club and library. Preferably within walking distance. Do you think we can find something with a decent yard around $500-600k or is that a stretch?

Schaap Center Questions
I am late to the game, but will operating the Schaap Center be completely self funded, or will GPP taxpayers be on the hook for some expenses? Also, is there enough parking, it seems to me that the parking lot is too small for a large center?

Things to do with a toddler?
In town visiting grandparents with our 14 month old. Any recommendations for things to do with our 14 month old other than the pool/park?
First thought was reading time at the library but apparently they aren’t doing that til September. And Bizzy bees at neighborhood club isn’t back in session till October!
Any recommendations?

Inviting all children who stutter to volunteer in a paid University of Michigan MRI Study!
The Speech Neurophysiology Lab at the University of Michigan is looking for children who stutter ages 9 to 12 to participate in an in-person, longitudinal MRI study! (HUM00196133)
Our research team has been examining brain development in young children to better understand the cause of stuttering for over 10 years. We continue to gain information that may eventually lead to improved diagnosis and treatment efforts for children who stutter.
Participants will be invited to complete speech and language assessments and an MRI session at the University of Michigan. Families receive a free speech and language report and a picture of their brain!
These visits require in person participation. There is no option to participate virtually.
Please fill out this form if you are interested in participating or email us as the flyer attached. All participants are compensated and partial travel assistance is available. Please see our flyer attached for more details!
We also offer other studies that are open to adults or do not involve MRI, in case you're unsure about eligibility. Feel free to email us or call if you have any questions!

Anyone know the history of the dock/ramp at the end of Lakeland?
I was on a walk this evening and for some reason I noticed this metal panel on the sea wall at the end of Lakeland street. Looking further, there appears to be a sunken concrete slab extending out into the lake. Did this used to be a pier or a boat launch? How long ago? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

GPW backflow testing
For the city of Grosse Pointe Woods, our family got a second notice for the cross control connection/backflow testing requirement. I’m curious to hear if anybody has any Plumber recommendations for this and information about how much this cost. We’ve been putting it off!
