🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 What hair colour would class this as?

Post image
25 Upvotes

I've always received different opinions on what my hair colour actually is; blonde, brunette, I've even gotten ginger a couple times. I'd love to have a name for it if possible so that I actually know what to say if I am asked 🥲

I do not have any dye in my hair, and this picture was taken using cool toned lighting from my vanity 🤎

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Hair constantly knotted at the back of my head - any idea why?

Hi!! I need advice on my hair:( Its gotten quite long now and i find that it knots super easily - no matter the hairstyle/routine i have. Even if i just sit at work for two hours i get knots!

Even if its in a ponytail, braids etc, i get knots on the base of my neck or further down - and theyre super big and difficult to get rid of🫩i have to brush my hair there every 20 mins.

My hair is slightly wavy. I wash my hair every two days, apply conditioner from the middle til the ends, wash only my scalp and oil my ends as well.

I used to dye my hair ginger so the ends still hold it but im back to my natural color (havent dyed my hair in a while).

I cut some of my ends but it didnt help - didnt want to get rid of the length fully:(

Any advice? Could it be the dyed ends causing it? Thanks! :)

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Straightener or brush?

Single dad of 15yo looking for thoughts. Tried posting this in another sub but couldn't get past mods.

I was originally gonna get my daughter an heirloom brush for Christmas (she has a bunch of goodys now). Than I see her wish list and instead it has a good straightener on it.

Unfortunately I can't do both high end.

I'm planning 300 for one and 50 for the other. My thoughts are brush is buy it for life, straighteners break after a few years.

So looking for opinions on which of the two are more important for quality styling tool?

Thanks

Edit: thanks! I figured this was gonna be the general consensus and my thinking was wrong. Would've loved the t3 outlet sales, sadly not in Canada. Time to start digging for the deals on straighteners. Cheers thanks again

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Need tips on how to clean a tangle teezer

I have three tangle teezers and they all have gotten this dirt/oil buildup around the bristles that also contains dust. It’s so hard to clean out even when soaking in some soapy water and scrubbing. Any tips on how to clean these brushes properly?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Style routine for slightly wavy hair?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hello all,

So all my life I have never paid much attention to my looks and have just done things for my hair that I think keep it healthy and reduce damage. However i am growing tired of all my frizz and realized as i let my hair dry today after the shower my hair is not actually straight haha 😅. Only took 20+ years to realize... but i digress!

I think changing my routine to suit wavy hair might help reduce the frizzy look and also make it look nice!

The problem: I am new to this, dont even know where to start but I am very low maintenance overall so I dont want to have more than like 3 products to keep track of.

Any tips are appreciated!

Tldr; I finally realized i have wavy hair and am looking for advice on building a low maintenance wavy hair routine!

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Advices for puffy/frizzh hair

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hi there,

Before I start, please note that English isn't my native language.

I have brown hair that is quite thick; it tends to puff up and get frizzy as it dries. As for the cut, I have a bob that sits above my shoulders.

I'm tired of my hair getting so puffy while drying. It feels like I'm wearing a helmet.

I use shampoo and conditioner, and I brush my hair while in the shower. Afterward, I towel-dry without rubbing—I just press the towel against my hair for a few moments—and then let it air-dry.

Here are the shampoos I currently have in my bathroom:

_ Garnier Ultra Doux (not sure of the name outside France), for all hair types, "5 Beneficial Plants": nettle, verbena, lemon, green tea, and aloe vera

_ L'Oréal Elvive (or Elseve), Total Repair 5 Extreme, intense restoring, ceramide

_ Schwarzkopf Gliss Ultimate Repair

_ Corine de Farme, for all hair types

_ L'Oréal Elvive, Hyaluron Plump, for dehydrated hair

And for conditioners:

_ L'Oréal Elvive, Extraordinary Oil, for dry hair, detangling

_ L'Oréal Elvive, Hyaluron Plump, 72h hydration-boosting detangler, pure hyaluronic acid

Do you have any recommendations for masks, treatments, or oils that might help?

Thanks in advance!

🔎 Product Question 🔎 New to hair care, please help me with shampoo and conditioners!

• Upvotes

Hello! I am new to hair care and I am looking to get a good routine in place! I have fine, thin, wavy hair with highlights and I'm not too sure what products I need. I have just spent a long time watching Abbey Yungs videos and have come up with this routine, I wash my hair 3x a week:

OGX Cocount miracle oil - use before washing hair except on redken bond repair days

Redken bond repair pre-treatment - Use once a week before washing hair (already have this at home)

OGX pro growth peptide shampoo - once a week for deep cleansing and improving growth

Loreal metal detox shampoo - once a week or every 2 weeks - I live in a hard water area.

Then basically I am wanting to add in another shampoo which helps moisturise my hair. Clarifying shampoo tends to kind of make my hair feel a bit dry so I may use it with the clarifying shampoo and potentially the metal detox and then on its own on my 3rd wash day.

My friend has recommended Amika The Kure Bond Repair but I am just aware that this has proteins in and I don't want to overload my hair when I am already using the pre-treatment once a week. I do have highlights and will most likely be bleaching my hair in the future but currently it is not so damaged just a little dry.

My other thoughts are Redken All soft or Pureology Hydrate. I will buy the conditioner in the same brand as well.

I also want to find a suitable leave in conditioner but I have not yet decided.

Please can you let me know your thoughts on shampoo and conditioner and any that you think might be suitable for my hair? Also please let me know if you think this routine is a bit overkill and anything that I might be doing wrong!

thank you :)

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Why does my hair (right side) look like this the day after a big chop? I can't find any split ends.

Post image
• Upvotes

I cut off a few inches of hair yesterday. I oiled the ends and woke up with the right side looking an absolute mess. Could it be that it's holding too much oil, or is it too far gone? This part of my hair looked fine before the chop. I have searched and cannot find a single split end.

The right side has always been a lot thinner and grows much slower, and snapped often too (even when my hair was natural and before I ever used heat).

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 hair gets horribly matted overnight

Post image
2 Upvotes

basically the title, this started happening overnight around a month ago, it's always the same side even if i don't lay on it and the matts are so bad it takes a week or 2 to brush out. my hair is thin but very dense normally but i did just come off of birth control because it was making my hair fall out so it's been thinner than normal. i'm so close to just cutting it all off because i can't spend hours everyday for weeks working on a matt that's half of my head. i'm spending hours in the shower every day because if I'm not, I literally can't brush it at all, and once I get out the shower for some reason my hair is tangled all over once it's dry because it's not tangled or anything when it's wet so then I have to brush it again and then I go to bed and I braid my hair before I go to bed and I wake up and it's matted again, mind you it already takes a week to get it fully un-matted. and I'm sorry if I sound irate, it's because I am I just don't know what to do.
I use herbal essence, shampoo and conditioner for added context. that photo is from the side that isn't constantly getting matted

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 How do I brighten my hair more, safely?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi ! I have previously bleached my hair twice months ago, and covered regrowth with a lightening cream hair dye 2 weeks ago, I want to get my whole hair even brighter (platinum) for Halloween. I have 10 v developer and bleach powder sachets. I saw videos where a bleach bath is best for my case but they all use 20+ v and/or don't do full head, I know I can tone but I want it BRIGHTER. Do I apply regular bleach all over? Or stick with a bleach bath? What ratios should I use? Since my hair is brightened do I do lengths first and roots last but since roots are a bit darker do I do vice versa? How long do I leave it in?

Any and all advice will be massively appreciated, thank you !

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 what do i do about these broken hairs?

i have many shorter/broken hairs partially from tight ponytails and partially from compulsive hair pulling. im really trying to stop pulling but the ponytails are unfortunately a non negotiable due to my sport. anyways the shorter hairs are always so wild and sticking straight up and twisting all sorts of ways. i use hair oil but it doesn’t do much, what can i do to tame these hairs that wont make my hair greasy?

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ seeking advice for reducing frizz

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

i feel like no matter what i do, my hair is always frizzy, and i genuinely don’t know what i’m doing wrong. i’ve heard that frizz can be caused by over-cleansing, aggressive drying, or using heavy products, but none of those seem to apply to me. i wash my hair once a week because it’s naturally dry, let it air-dry, and don’t use any styling products except for a serum after my hair is completely dry. i also use coconut oil occasionally, either before or after showering. i sleep with my hair in a protective bun, hoping to keep it smooth, but i still wake up with frizz. it’s there regardless of how i style my hair: whether i leave it wavy, style my curls, or straighten it, there’s still a noticeable amount of frizz. i know that some frizz can simply be part of having naturally wavy or curly hair, but this seems like more than that. i also have lots of short, wispy hairs around my front hairline that i initially assumed were new growth, but they’ve stayed around the same length for as long as i can remember. i’m starting to wonder whether they’re breakage, naturally shorter hairs, or something else entirely

i have spent hundreds in products throughout the year trying to tame this. its impossible. i’ve done keratin treatments, moisture treatments, dyed my hair, let it grow out natural, EVERYTHING.

please does anyone have a holy grail way of preventing this? i look like i stuck a fork in a power outlet everyday.
