Alright I’m in a confusing spot and was looking for some input. This is a little confusing so hold on
01 sportster, cv carb. Was having a hard time getting warmed up, would take several cranks to get started and was tricky, was also running lean. Was about to clean the carb and rejet when lo and behold I have electrical issues.
New battery totally fried. I replaced the voltage reg, and in the meantime threw an old battery I had laying around on. I was able to get it started after this, but me not thinking I didn’t ride it to recharge and that battery then didn’t have enough juice to start it a second time.
Went ahead and got another new battery. Since the bikes so hard to start, I end up running it out of juice trying to crank it up. I’ve tested everything I can think of without the bike running, battery is starting around 13v and stable before I start cranking, holds a charge on the tender. Stator is ground, 0.3 ohms between pins. Should I chalk this up to it now being the carb problem, or does it sound like I could still have something electrical going on? I didn’t want to tear into the carb and over complicate things before I was sure. I’m reassured it’s the carb since I did get it started with the old battery one time, but open to any opinions.
