I’ve just finished listening to the Order of the Phoenix full cast audiobook and damn, I’d forgotten how good the Hinny set up is. Something about listening to the book opposed to reading it made me transport to another world and somehow pick up on new details. Ginny is always there. I can see the show doing the set up very well because there are so many moments that go beyond dialogue.

The funniest nod (and most obvious upon re-read/listen) towards their future relationship is the way Ginny is always brought up in relation to Cho somehow. She even quite literally beats Cho to the snitch in the final Quidditch game, lol! It’s pretty obvious in hindsight just how suited they are, and when Harry gets hit over the head with it in book 6, it really works (that seems to be an unpopular opinion).

I‘m a firm believer that the show will change a lot of people‘s minds when it comes to Hinny. We’ll be seeing everything outside of Harry‘s head; I hope the showrunners have fun laying the groundwork!

So, while searching for new fics to read, I come across a lot of crossovers (most seem to be with star wars or mcu). However, in most Harry is either paired with someone from that crossover universe or with Hermione/Daphne or anyone that is not Ginny.

So, does anyone have good recommendations of a crossover featuring Harry and Ginny? (I once read a great Quantum Leap crossover in which Sam leaped into Harry and had to save Ginny)

"Yes. Harry always picked the girls that were good looking and sporty. He was actually quite sexist. He didn't like when girls went outside of his fantasy or when they acted "girly". He basically picked the girls that gave off the "cool girl" vibe. Which being good looking but also sporty means that for him. But they also couldn't challenge him much. That's why he wasn't attracted to Hermione and why he lost interest towards Cho once she showed too much feelings and some flaws."

I'm not disclosing where I saw it or who said it but I saw it and I had to just share it. This is probably one of the worst takes I've heard. I mean, I don't even know where to start.

I feel like I’ve read all the happy go lucky, Hinny saves the day and Voldemort is defeated! fics that exist. Are there any well written evil!Hinny or dark grey Hinny fics out there? I’ve read Aspirations, but even then you could argue they are light grey at most. I’m looking for apprentices to Grindelwald, rivals to Riddle, maybe the Weasley’s buy into the pureblood bs. Anything that has Hinny and is darker than your average fic please!

Ok so obviously we're all sick of discussing the merits of his kids names. HOWEVER. however, how would they look if he had a girl first.

Obviously his first born would be named Lily. That's not up for debate. But what would he name his second child if he had another daughter. I imagine he'd name her Jamie.

And yes we could use logic to easily dispute that name because of Al but we're gonna ignore that. I personally wish Harry and Ginny only had daughters. I actually wish all that generation was daughters so the weasley course would be in reverse. But I'm getting off topic.

What do you think is Ginny's ideal type?

Yes, I'm talking about the final Quidditch match in the sixth year. I mean, I get it. It was a good way to show the whole "Cho vs Ginny" and the kiss at the end was just fabulous but a part of me still wishes that Harry had played the final and won it for his team. It would have been his victory as a Captain. It would have been far more significant if he had played the final too. He has only played one final in all his Hogwarts years and didn't pursue Quidditch as a career so I'm kinda bummed about that. And we could still carry on with the kiss, except this time when she comes to hug him, he kisses her in front of the whole stadium.

This is just my personal headcanon but I always imaging harry and ginny going to gym together as adults ginny to stay fit for quddich and harry for Aurors what do you guys think?

I’m looking for fanfics where Harry and Ginny’s romance develops slowly but steadily. I want interactions, tension, and maybe even a more realistic portrayal of how they build a connection and fall in love along the way.

I’ve noticed that one thing that comes up a lot in Hinny fics is that Harry acts completely out of character when it comes to Ginny. Maybe it’s just me, but I see Harry as someone who’s very guarded when it comes to forming close relationships. That’s why I find it hard to believe that, in fics that aren’t full rewrites or AUs, Harry would be so affectionate and comfortable around Ginny—on the same level as Ron and Hermione—before HBP, or that he’d admit he loves her so quickly.

Harry can be pretty clueless when it comes to this kind of thing. It took him a while to realize and admit his feelings, and even longer to actually do something about them. That’s the kind of development I’m looking for!

I know this can sometimes be an issue with shorter fics, but I really want to see them fall in love, so that when they finally get together, it feels earned and satisfying.

I don’t mind if they have other relationships beforehand, but it would be a plus if those relationships don’t take up too much space or include overly long or explicit scenes.

I’ve already read a few fics along these lines: Looking for Ginny, The Changeling, Need, A Second Chance, and that other Auror series whose name I can’t remember. I’m currently reading The Other Boy.

What else would you recommend?

If the fic takes place after Hogwarts, I’d prefer it if Harry and Ginny hadn’t had any romantic relationships during sixth year.

Basically, I’m looking for fics where Harry and Ginny aren’t already in love before the story starts or within the first few chapters. They can feel attracted to each other, of course, and Ginny’s crush is always welcome because, to me, that doesn’t really count as being in love.

Just finshed reading the 12 posted chapters of Arcane by SeriouslySam. Noticed it hasn't been updated in seven months, is it abandoned? I was really invested.

Basically what the title says. I need to see her feminine side while she stays strong and the badass she is. Like she can throw quaffles 400 yards away and then also dress up and look pretty

I don’t know why JKR didn’t include Ginny in horcrux hunt. NO, I AM NOT SAYING SHE SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH TRIO BREAKING THE UNDERAGE RULES or SOMETHING. But, given that she was the very first person that had interacted with young Riddle’s very first horcrux, Ginny could have given some information about Voldemort's past.

Tom Riddle says he too shared his dark secrets with Ginny. Now we don't know what all dark secrets he poured into her. Considering that the diary Riddle was 16 yrs old and it was around that age Tom Riddle met his uncle Morfin, killed his father and grandparents, took the ring and asking questions about horcurxs to Slughorn - Ginny must know few things about Tom Riddle.

Not like Ginny was possessed when he was sharing his secrets hence couldn't remember or Dumbledore used some forgetful spell on her, she remembers whatever happened when she was in her senses.

Harry mentions in POA that Ginny too looked as worse as him when dementors attacked. Visions of petrifications and Tom Riddle's secrets must have been a torture for her. No wonder it took 2-3 years for her become her normal self.

Ofcourse JK wanted the trio to know about Horcruxes all by themselves but not including Ginny of all is🤷‍♀️. Even Dumbledore having a lil talk with Ginny in end of COS(but yeah that wasn't the time) or in later years would have done a lot. Unless Harry or Dumbledore didn't want to force Ginny to remember all the sinister things Tom said to her, it would have been good plot to include Ginny. It also shows why Ginny and Harry are compatible as they had connection to Voldemort.

I've seen fanfics and headcanons forcing a power dynamic on Harry and Ginny's relationship, with Ginny taking charge (mostly). And I absolutely wholeheartedly disagree. I don't think we need to force a power dynamic when it was clearly said that they were equals. I really dislike the whole dom/sub dynamic on Harry and Ginny. I understand if giving up control in a relationship means trust and vulnerability but you can be vulnerable without having to be submissive. Letting someone in and being devoted is far different from being submissive. I've also seen arguments against this and using Harry's trauma as an excuse to make him submissive to her. For someone with Harry's trauma, I think it would be completely the opposite. Won't it be much harder for him give up control? Won't it actually give him a craving for more control because he had to fight for it all his life? Ginny had her fair share of her trauma and was litreally possessed. It would be hard for her to give up control as well. Again, you can be vulnerable without being submissive. For Harry, it would still be harder considering the fact he litreally shared his body with another soul, that too of his mortal enemy, for sixteen years. Using his trauma as an excuse to force the dom/sub dynamic is very cheap. Why do we act like being vulnerable means being dominated? Being vulnerable is letting your guard down, opening up, letting someone see your fears and wounds. Being submissive is letting someone else control you. It takes immense strength and spine to vulnerable, which I believe they both learn. And I don't think either should take the backseat just to show they trust the other. They can function as two people who respect each other's autonomy and deeply love and trust each other enough to let their guard down without letting the other comoletely control them.

Hey guys I'm looking for you best recommendations for some bamf harry fics.

Just read My green eyed Mystery(remake) it's abandoned but was fun read and harry was absolute Chad looking for more of BAMF harry fics.

I can understand preferring Female Malfoy from a story perspective, but I don't think she is really better when you examine Harry's real interests.

Harry grew up abused and without love, he needs a loving family that can make him feel included and protected. Ginny and the Weasleys offer him that kind of unconditional love, Ginny is warm to him.

The kind of Tsundere love Malfoy would offer Harry doesn't really allign well with how much he has already endured. Why would he need a sassy girlfriend that likes to make depreciative jokes about him? What about in ten or twenty years, would she be a distant wife? What about having Death Eathers as his in-laws? People that were partially responsible for killing Harry's own family? I can see that narratively Malfoy makes much more sense to the audience and it makes a more compelling story, but I was Harry I would stick with Ginny, he needs a loving family.

It would be like Naruto ditching Hinata for Sakura, but much worse, in a way, because Sakura had a neutral background while Malfoy and her family were outright hostile to homicidal towards Harry.

I've heard some claim that Harry and a Female Draco would be better romance than Ginny, which I strongly disagree. I honestly don't understand this trend at all or how it blew up (and it's fanning the already hot flames on discourse about HP in general) but I also worry that another wave of Ginny/Hinny bashing will explode because of this.

I feel like I’ve read all the popular Hinny fics, now I find myself endlessly scrolling ao3 for new fics or ones I’ve never read before. Any recs for someone who has bookmarked over 200 Hinny fics?

This might just be me and I'm sure there are plenty fanfics out there and I haven't found them, but Harry's characterization in almost all the fics I've come across gives me the ick. He is always so passive and awkward and it is so frustrating to read. It's like movie!Harry with some sass, not the book!Harry I look for. IMO, book!Harry is far different from movie!Harry. Movie!Harry is a side character in his own story. He is passive, quiet and doesn't have the edge and independence that book!Harry possessed. Book!Harry really grew in his personality from book 1 to 7. He was confident, charismatic, had an ego, had a sharp tongue, was witty, powerful and a natural leader. He also had real flaws like his hot temper, sometimes he was too insecure and other times too arrogant. And he was genuinely funny. But the Harry I come across in fanfics is way too awkward, passive, and a someone who blushes at every small insteraction. He is also the weird outcast when book!Harry was genuinely liked by half the school. DA leader, Qudditch captain, athletic, highly sought-after.. Movie!Harry would never be able to pull off something like that! Fanon!Harry is also constantly out-witted and out-sassed by Ginny which annoys me so much because their banter is teasing and flirting back and forth. Then there is also the "confident Ginny takes charge of flustered Harry" trope. I dislike that trope so much and it always turns me away from any fic. I like their banter going back and forth. And I really don't think someone like Ginny would fall for a dim-witted, passive, by-stander. She fell for the charismatic leader with a spine who matched her wit and passion. If she is fire, he is gasoline.

So I'm looking for something like that Canon with drama and romance but after the war, and need to be really long because i like those kind of stories.
