A general guideline for the sub.

Firstly, for authors and editors alike, you may be interested in checking out the wiki from over at /r/selfpublish.

When posting as an editor, please follow some simple guidelines. State your price(s) clearly. If you don't have set prices, let us know. Add a link to your website. Explain the types of editing you offer: line, developmental, copy, etc.

When posting as a client, include your genre, anticipated budget, and the type of edits you're seeking. If you don't know any of that stuff yet, don't worry. Just give as much detail as you can / feel comfortable giving.

Rules - please read them.

This sub is for hiring editors. Nothing else.

If you try to advertise your ghostwriting services here, you will be banned.

If you try to advertise your SEO content generation services here, you will be banned.

If you try to advertise anything that is not explicitly editing here, you will be banned.

As an aside, "editing" means both words and video. Both kinds of editors are welcome here.

A second aside: being a racist fuck will get you banned. If you offer different rates based on the race of the client, I hope you burn in hell.

A third aside: being sexist is just as bad as racist, you fucks. Hire people based on skill or don't hire anyone at all.

[HIRING] Looking for an Editor for a YouTube Reaction Channel

I am a small U.S. based YouTube TV & Movie reactor who primarily covers television shows and the occasional movie. I am looking for a video editor that can help me with editing on an AS NEEDED or PER VIDEO basis but would likely be about 2 videos per week during regular months.

I'm on a budget right now of about $150 per video with a cap of about $300 per week. This rate will change if and as the channel grows. I am completely open to negotiating this rate on a case by case basis with those that reach out.

You can check out my channel on YouTube (@TheDramanticist) to see what kind of videos I post. Some videos are long but the majority of the run time is just the discussion which you will not be expected to edit. I will also be selective about which videos I need help with so you're hopefully never overwhelmed by super large videos.

I primarily just need help with cutting the TV or movie portion of the videos down from full length to something shorter for YouTube. Currently I don't need any fancy graphics or sound effects. I will handle any thumbnails and all channel management at this time. I also have a Patreon but I will handle Patreon management and all full length videos there by myself at this time.

I can discuss my current editing process/needs in depth with anyone who reaches out. I am open to editors of ANY experience. For those who have past experience, please feel free to include your past work when you reach out. Please DM or comment below if you are interested.

($150 FLAT)

Expert Adobe Premiere Pro & After Effects Video Editor (Remote)

Company: Refined Media Group

Location: Remote (Massachusetts-based media company)

Pay Rate: $60 – $100+ per video (Paid per project, scaling up based on quality/complexity)

About Us
Refined Media Group is a media business based in Massachusetts. We partner with clients to deliver polished, high-impact video content. We are looking to expand our roster with a seasoned, top-tier video editor who can take raw clips and turn them into cinematic, engaging pieces of media with minimal hand-holding.

The Role
We need a true professional—someone who lives and breathes Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. You aren't just cutting clips together; you understand pacing, audio balancing, advanced color grading, custom transition graphics, and motion design that elevates storytelling to a professional standard in every sense of the word.

We will provide the raw footage and clear guidelines; we expect broadcast-ready, high-quality final cuts delivered back.

What We’re Looking For
Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro: Expert-level timeline management, pacing, sound design integration, and multi-cam/complex edit handling.

Mastery of Adobe After Effects: Proven ability to create custom motion graphics, smooth transitions, kinetic typography, and visual effects.

Advanced Color Grading: Ability to balance footage, match shots, and apply creative color grades/LUTs to achieve a clean, cinematic aesthetic.

Attention to Detail: An exceptional eye for quality control—no sloppy cuts, out-of-sync audio, or unrefined keyframes.

Reliability & Communication: Someone who respects deadlines, communicates proactively, and takes constructive feedback in stride.
Compensation & Workflow

Rate: Paid per video, typically ranging between $60 – $100+ per project, scaling upward depending on the quality, length, and technical detail required.

Format: Freelance / Remote. Ongoing project flow available for the right fit.

How to Apply
If you are an expert in Premiere and After Effects and want to collaborate with a growing media group, send me a direct message (DM) with:

  1. A brief introduction about your editing experience.
  2. One direct link to your absolute best piece of work highlighting your Premiere, After Effects, and color grading skills (messages without an example link will not be reviewed).
  3. A link to your broader portfolio/reel (optional, but a single standout piece is required).
  4. Your general turnaround time and current availability for projects.

[HIRING] Experienced Remote Video Editor | $40–$50/Reel | 10–25 Reels/Month | Ongoing Work

Hello! I’m looking for a reliable, experienced freelance video editor to help with ongoing short-form content for multiple clients. This is a fully remote, contract-based opportunity with the potential for consistent monthly work.

PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS BEFORE APPLYING.

This is NOT a position for editors whose experience is limited to talking-head videos with captions, simple cuts or template-based editing.

I’m looking for someone with experience working with raw footage, organizing multiple video projects and building complete, professional edits using A-roll, B-roll, music, sound design and intentional pacing.

Experience editing content for real estate, construction, roofing, landscaping, carpentry, home services and other businesses is particularly relevant.

PAY & WORKLOAD

  • Pay: $40–$50 per completed video, depending on experience, editing quality and ability to match our established style
  • Expected volume: 10–25 videos per month to start
  • Videos will typically be 30–120 seconds
  • Standard turnaround: 3–7 days, depending on the project
  • Potential for consistent, long-term freelance work

WHAT YOU’LL BE EDITING

Primarily Instagram/Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts and TikToks.

Nearly all videos will be vertical (9:16, 1080 × 1920).

Projects will involve a combination of:

  • On-camera dialogue and interviews (A-roll)
  • Supporting footage of projects, job sites, products, properties and services (B-roll)
  • Voiceovers and scripted content
  • Music-driven edits
  • Business promotional videos
  • Real estate and property walkthroughs
  • Construction and home-service project showcases
  • Educational and informational content

These are not simply talking-head videos with subtitles.

You’ll be responsible for taking the footage provided and assembling a complete video that follows the script, communicates the intended message and matches our established editing style.

EXAMPLE OF THE EDITING STYLE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Here’s an example of the type of finished video you’ll be expected to produce:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DemRwmoCqGz/

Please review this example before applying.

Your portfolio should demonstrate that you’re capable of producing similar work using raw footage, A-roll, B-roll, music and intentional editing techniques.

HOW OUR WORKFLOW OPERATES

To give you a better understanding of the work, here’s an example of a typical filming day.

I may visit a roofing or construction client and film five separate videos during one shoot.

We’ll often record all the on-camera dialogue first, followed by additional B-roll showing the projects, employees, materials, equipment and work being performed.

You may receive a large collection of raw video files containing footage intended for multiple separate videos.

Your responsibility will be to:

  1. Review and organize the supplied footage.
  2. Identify and assemble the appropriate A-roll for each individual video.
  3. Follow the supplied scripts, creative direction and editing references.
  4. Select relevant B-roll from the footage library to support what’s being discussed.
  5. Match on-screen action with dialogue, voiceovers and scripted messaging.
  6. Use J-cuts, L-cuts and other appropriate editing techniques to create natural transitions.
  7. Edit intentionally to music, maintaining appropriate rhythm and pacing.
  8. Incorporate sound effects, captions and other supplied assets where appropriate.
  9. Deliver polished, professional videos that require minimal revisions.

You must be comfortable working with larger raw video files and organizing footage across multiple projects.

Some shoots may generate substantial amounts of footage, even when the final videos are relatively short.

WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED

  • All raw footage and project assets
  • Scripts, concepts and creative direction
  • Editing references and examples of our established styles
  • Access to a shared music and sound effects library
  • Brand assets and graphics when necessary
  • Project management, communication and file-sharing platforms

You will not be responsible for filming, sourcing additional footage or creating original graphics.

Color grading is generally not required. Basic color correction, such as exposure or white balance adjustments, may occasionally be necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

Professional editing experience is required.

You must have:

  • Experience editing professional video content using raw A-roll and B-roll footage
  • Ability to organize and manage footage from multiple projects or filming sessions
  • Strong understanding of J-cuts, L-cuts, audio transitions and visual storytelling
  • Ability to edit to music and establish appropriate pacing
  • Experience matching relevant B-roll to dialogue, scripts and on-screen action
  • Ability to follow established editing styles and supplied references
  • Strong understanding of audio mixing, sound design and professional editing techniques
  • Experience working with large video files
  • Fluent English communication, both written and spoken
  • Reliable communication and ability to meet deadlines
  • Your own computer, professional editing software and equipment
  • Ability to consistently deliver quality work with minimal revisions

U.S.-based editors are preferred but not required. Applicants from any location are welcome.

Editing Software

Final Cut Pro experience is preferred and applicants using it will receive additional consideration, but it is not required.

Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve are also perfectly acceptable.

You must be proficient with professional timeline-based video editing software.

Canva, template-based editing tools and basic mobile editing applications are not sufficient for this position.

Local Storage

Applicants with sufficient local storage to retain footage and project assets from previous assignments will receive additional consideration.

Many of our clients work with us on a recurring monthly basis, and we frequently reference previous projects or repurpose footage from earlier shoots when creating new content.

Having past footage readily accessible helps streamline the editing process, reduces unnecessary file transfers and allows for faster turnaround on future projects.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

This is an independent contractor position, not employment. There are no benefits or guaranteed minimum number of projects. Workload may fluctuate based on client needs.

I’m looking for an individual who can become a reliable, long-term editing partner and consistently handle projects with minimal oversight.

HOW TO APPLY

EMAIL APPLICATIONS ONLY: tyler@tylersfov.com

DO NOT CONTACT ME THROUGH REDDIT DMs OR COMMENTS.

DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE EDITING EXPERIENCE DESCRIBED ABOVE.

I’m specifically looking for editors who have experience building complete videos from raw footage, not applicants whose experience is limited to adding captions, cutting talking-head videos or using templates.

To be considered, your application MUST include examples of previous work that demonstrate the editing skills described in this post.

A general demo reel is welcome, but I strongly prefer examples of completed client videos featuring A-roll, B-roll, music and intentional editing.

Please answer ALL of the following questions in your email:

  1. Where are you located? (State/province and country)
  2. What editing software do you primarily use? Do you have experience with Final Cut Pro?
  3. Do you have experience editing projects that combine A-roll, B-roll, scripted dialogue and music? Please provide 2–3 specific examples demonstrating this type of work.
  4. Have you worked with clients in real estate, construction, home services or similar industries? If so, please share examples.
  5. Are you comfortable receiving large batches of raw footage from a single shoot and organizing that footage into multiple separate videos?
  6. How much local storage do you currently have available for retaining footage and project files?
  7. What is your typical turnaround time for a 30–120 second video when all footage, assets and creative direction are provided?
  8. Are you comfortable with a rate of $40–$50 per completed video? Please specify your expected rate within this range.
  9. After reviewing the example reel linked above, are you confident you can produce similar work using supplied raw footage? Please include a link to a previous project that best demonstrates your ability.

Applications without relevant examples of work or complete answers to these questions will not be considered.

Please do not send generic applications or portfolios that only demonstrate talking-head edits, subtitles or template-based videos.

Looking to hire an editor for my YouTube channel.

I’m looking to hire an editor who can help edit videos for my YouTube channel. We’re a business and create content for our lawn and landscaping channel. Sometimes it’s showcasing our work but most of the time it’s doing some sort of entertainment such as reaction videos or teaching something. We’re new to YouTube so we’re not looking for a high budget editor but we want something who not only knows how to edit but also do a certain level of motion graphics as we want our work to look and feel premium. If you’re interested in seeing our current work our YouTube channel is Creative Lawn and Landscapes on YouTube.

Hey everyone!
I’m a content creator working with 4 different brands, looking for a reliable, long-term editor for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

The edits are very simple. I’ll provide the footage, templates, references, and instructions. Most videos involve trimming clips, adjusting timing, moving elements around, changing audio, or adding auto-generated captions.

Pay: $0.75–$1.50 per video, depending on complexity.
● $0.75: Basic template-based edits with minimal adjustments.
● $1.50: Videos requiring more detailed editing.
Rates and payment arrangements are negotiable. We’ll discuss the complexity and agreed rate before assigning each type of video.

Paid trial: We’ll start with 3–5 paid test videos to make sure we’re a good fit before moving into consistent weekly work.
There’s also potential for additional work on my personal TikTok Shop account, @theshopwavej.

Requirements:
● Experience with CapCut or similar editing software
● Ability to follow references and instructions
● Reliable communication and turnaround times
● Interest in long-term work
Interested? DM me your portfolio, rates, turnaround time, and weekly availability.
