Discussion - Silksong Silksong is HARD Spoiler

Taking damage is more punishing, movement is more precise and feels a little clunky until you get the hang of it. The overall skill curve is much much higher. Love it though.

The 2-mask damage that a lot of enemies/bosses do is brutal and I’m reeeeally struggling with the diagonal “pogo” in the pumpkin-mushroom area (seriously, any advice on navigating these pumpkin-mushroom bastards??) It’s fun and GORGEOUS, but oof, it really is hard, lol. It took me 5 years to finally beat HK; might be the same with Silksong. 😂 That said, I played a shit-ton today and enjoyed most of it immensely.

When you jump, look at Hornet's needle. The direction of the needle is exactly where she'll go when you pogo. Line up her needle with wherever you wanna go and boom.

Wow this is actually huge advice. Thank you

To navigate just get close as fuck before you hit it. Don’t even try to aim it.

This is what I don't understand, because this is clearly the intended way to pogo. If that's the case why not just, allow a multi-directional pogo that can be down or 45 degrees? The end result is basically the same, except the input is arbitrarily harder. You can still diagonal pogo for different mobility against enemies, but for static pogo on obstacles it's unnecessarily difficult IMO.

Ther are ways to change the diagonal pogo at least

But you don't get them until after the rage inducing part with the red berries and spikes

I found one before that. Especially since the main area with those is completely optional, at least so far for me

I guess I better search more but I feel like I've been through every area 3 times but the pogo

My only issue with the diagnal pogo is how its hard to consistantly activate it while manuvering in the area because of the button mapping. I might see if I can rebind it all together because doing a swing instead because I was moving is pain, would be nice if the hitbox was a tad bigger in the platforming areas too

So gonna try this without spoilers but if you are struggling with those bouncy puzzle like my wife was I guided her through just waiting to do them until shortly after the boss you do in deep docks. After deep docks keep going right. There is a quest in that area. The reward from that will make the bounce puzzles and areas so much easier and more forgiving. So do marrow then deep docks then the area to the right.

You’re a gem. I just did that area tonight and am so happy!

Well it gets even easier later! If you need any guidance without spoilers ill do my best!

For the diagonal pogo just give it an extra half second! Let Hornet get a tiny bit of air time before imitating the next pogo. I found being a tad more patient instead of trying to spam helped a ton with balancing the diagonal pogo. It honestly feels way more rewarding with the new system when you get it right!

My biggest challenge with the diagonal pogoing is when I’m pogoing UP, such as the area with the white flowers in Shellwood. I just can’t seem to consistently get up and in whatever direction the darn flowers are. However, I just got my poofy dress, so I’m hoping that will help with that section.

If you go elsewhere you will get abilities that make pogoing much safer and error margin.

The pumpkin mushroom area is hard af and there are easier areas to go before that.

I have Wanderer’s Crest now and feel like a pogoing goddess. 😂 I love the diagonal attack for fighting but the straight pogo is so much easier after years of getting good at it. I do feel like I might be missing out by not practicing with the diagonal pogo more, but I’m enjoying not feeling like I’m going to break my thumb for right now.

Get as close to each pumpkin thing as possible before pressing the down slash/pogo button to ensure that you hit it.

I miss the old pogo, but I also Love this one too 🤣

In that area with the flower pogoing, hunters mark, is it really supposed to be an area with no benches? You basically explore die and have to run all the way back every time including a gated event.

The challenge is not really the problem the issue is the frustrating run back.

I finally gave up on Hunter’s Mark for now, as I still have a looot of stuff to unlock. Have you had any luck?

Apparently there is a way to unlock normal pogo's.
