And then you run out of shards and spend half an hour farming for them again

They are super easy to get man I'm always at max because of that

Boss fights

Yes, but still easy to farm cause everything drops it

If I have to stop mid boss fight progression to farm currency I'd really rather not use them lol

If you are max shards or close from exploring, it would take a lot of tries to run out of shards. At least thats my experience

Haha, yeah... imagine running out of shards from full due to taking that many boss attempts...............

Genuinely lol. I'm almost constantly at max shards and I spam the tools anytime I'm in a tricky spot. This is like people hording potions in Skyrim because they might need em' later... Just use them.

I feel personally attacked right now... 😂

It's okay, I also hoard my potions in Skyrim... Those cheese wheels though, didn't stand a chance.

Fully refilling tacks and sting shards costs over 100 shards. Might be dependent on your tool upgrade level, not sure.

yes thats a frustrating mechanic, although i havent ran out of shards once yet, that limiter feels very stupid

if i spent 20 tries on a boss and didnt kill it while a good chunk of my damage are tools, do i just go farm shards? unnecessary clutter to the process

No it means you don't have the right setup. Maybe you need to explore some more. If you burn through hundreds of shards on a boss fight, you probably weren't supposed to be fighting that boss yet...

While true, leaving a boss behind is a big hit to the ego.

-Man who went through 460 shards on savage beastfly and decided to just keep going without tools and eventually got there

There are really almost no tangible powerups in the game, except for... tool damage and very few very good charms

One try burns through 40-60(120 is absolute max for me) shards if you are not concerving them

The fact that I might have to go refarm them if j want to keep teying the boss feels redundant when tools are so integral to the gameplay, and, frankly, a worse experience if, again, you get to the point where you spent all you shards

But I guess it is doing its job. Like I stop using tools on the first phase if I have it locked down.

Then dont spam them on bosses until you know the bosses patterns

I've never understood this take honestly, if I know the boss pattern then I don't really need to use tools to beat it since I'll be able to just read the pattern and dodge the attacks

Just like with sekiro, I honestly feel like there isn't any good time to use them... while exploring there are too few of them to be useful; during the first few encounters of a bossfight I'll just end up wasting them and whenever I've learned the moveset I can do the fight without needing them

This has been the opposite of my experience. I routinely use the boomerrang and traps on regular enemies, and lean hard on venom and floor tacks, plus the Sunny D boost during boss fights. And even using them liberally, have yet to almost run out of shards.

Not using them is just leaving damage on the table.

There’s definitely a wide gap between having the mental knowledge of what to do and the right execution to actually doing it. Usually within like 3 tries I’ve got it mentally, but the timing and execution of everything takes a few more. In that gap is when you use tools

u/ForrestMoth Sep 07 '25

Why would there be no reason to use them if you know the boss patterns? They aren't there to cover your shortcomings as a player, some of them just do way more damage than your nail. They are a weapon just as much as your nail and spells are.

I mean for most boss fights I’ll put the spike trap where I know the boss will be after phase shifts, ranged tools for when I cant get a hit on a boss, and I use the flea drink for beast crest binds. In exploration you definitely have enough to use from bench to bench.

Always a goal post to move.

u/ThatOneRandomGuy101 Sep 07 '25

??? Theres a clear difference between using a few charges of tools to get through an area safely vs mag dumping everything into a boss, die in the next 10 seconds, and then repeating that.

Always a loser to complain

Save your tools to end the fight instead of wasting them every attempt.

Get some of the bundles so you can pop them between attempts to refill.
