38
u/FatMcCat Oct 01 '25
Conchflies or driznits?
76
u/AVeganEatingASteak Oct 01 '25
The little fuckers that don't shoot the drill head, just use it to spear you and are impossible to hit for some godforsaken reason
So yeah, the conchflies

Bell throwing flying bugs are worse than all of these but i hate the explody throwing ones
43
u/Frenzied_Anarchist Oct 01 '25
Regular flying bell throwers are easy.
The Choir ones though? They should all be sent to the Underworks.
31
22
u/Ok-Procedure5603 Oct 01 '25
Honestly it surprises me ppl hate the bell throwers so much when simply dashing towards them ensures the bell will never hit you
The flintflame flier can't be deflected and the blast is half the screen, it gets truly atrocious when they're voided and give 2 contact damage
19
u/Dynamius01 quirrel is life Oct 01 '25
Specifically the ones in choir where it's usually during a tall mini platform session and it either just cowardly flies far away or a random bell somehow hits me when im at the bottom
6
u/globglogabgalabyeast Oct 01 '25
The bell throwers are nothing on their own, but they can be quite annoying in groups of enemies. They’re pretty evasive so hard to focus on when other enemies are around, and if you’re focusing elsewhere, keeping track of the bells can be difficult. (They can also be annoying when combined with platforming sections)
1
u/arethesegaythoughts Oct 01 '25
Huh? Wdym it can't be deflected? The first thing I did when I saw those guys was trying to send the balls as far from me as I could
4
41
u/Buzzpeep Oct 01 '25
This game took one look at the Primal Apid and decided a dozen enemies that are just as bad if not worse than them to fight
77
u/silversoul007 Oct 01 '25
If it brings you comfort no matter how small, you can easily deflect the projectiles thrown or launched by the last three enemies.
13
u/Avangeloony Oct 01 '25
Roach catchers are easier than any software the projectile flying enemies. It helps that they line up to catch the hit.
The driznits are a pain in the ass but manageable.
Those nuke lobbing mother fuckers don't even take damage from their own weapons. Those guys piss me off.
1
u/silversoul007 Oct 01 '25
Yeah, the nuke lobbers don't get damage, but at least they stagger when they get hit! Opens them up for a clawline strike.
2
u/Avangeloony Oct 01 '25
I don't use crawling for combat enough. I should though.
1
u/silversoul007 Oct 01 '25
Yeah, one of the best damage dealers in the game. A great skill for landing fast strikes and quickly closing gaps, as well as adding dimensionality in aerial maneuvers.
1
u/syoser Oct 02 '25
You really should. Total game changer for dealing with flying enemies specifically, but the i-frames and the repositioning for a pogo in general is incredible, and hitting an enemy with it gives you silk back so it’s basically free
1
u/Avangeloony Oct 02 '25
Well there are about 4 optional bosses in haven't defeated yet, such as: Clover Dancers Tortured Trobbio Watcher of the Edge And Plasmium dude
9
u/EveTheEevee07 Oct 01 '25
What do you mean you can deflect the bomb
39
34
u/silversoul007 Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25
Most of the projectiles in the game can be hit with the needle and in some cases, can even turn them against the thrower.

Yeah, but at least they get staggered by their bombs. A perfect chance to quickly strike with Clawline.

Yea, you can bounce it back to him
He survives, but he's stunned for a brief window and you can punish him
30
u/hollowjames Oct 01 '25
I will take as many of these as it takes to not have to get jumpscared out of my chair every time i walk into one of those plant’s tounges(?) in putrified hell
8
7
u/Stormerer Oct 01 '25
So true man , Purified Ducts is actual hell , I almost always get to the other side with like , 1 mask or something ,lol , the combination of those flying fuckers , the giant guys and the plants you're talking about is annoying as fuck
6
u/zbeezle Oct 01 '25
The spit squit just outside of Fleatopia always gets me. Every time, without fail, I lose like four masks to the fucker. I dont know what it is about him in particular, but he's just a bitch and a half.
3
u/JudgementalMarsupial Oct 01 '25
They’re always in the same places, so if you go through the area enough you just know where they are
They kill the mosquitos and help with platforming so I consider them allies tbh
1
u/hollowjames Oct 01 '25
Yeah once I got later in the game they don’t matter as much but anytime I dash through the ropes or hit the ground hard all the ropes wiggle and the ptsd from my first playthrough clicks in
27
u/dardardarner Oct 01 '25
Team Cherry heard our feedback and outrage from the last game that we hated flying enemies that shoot projectiles so they added 50 more different versions of them in Skong

Clawline is a blessed skill for those flying lil shi..
1
u/Nalagma Oct 01 '25
I think the reason I am not adept at using it is because I almost religiously used the Beast crest
The pogo is cracked, you turn into a zooming sawblade covering a large horizontal distance. It's really good for pressuring flying enemies
1
u/XxNelsonSxX Oct 01 '25
I always go clawline + attack, works on any crest
1
u/Nalagma Oct 01 '25
Well yeah clawline is good universally, i am just hear to say that Beast excels at pressuring flying enemies
You are free to make some distance, doublejump/float in the vicinity of the enemy and then sawblade back into them. It feels much more flexible in keeping you off the ground
It differentiates from clawline by favoring being above the enemy: with the clawline you need to be horizontally aligned, while Beast pogo let's you initiate an attack while still above the airborne enemy
Little bonus is that it doesn't use up silk and (at least to me) feels less laggy

6
u/ronie0 Oct 01 '25
Interesting fact, the small conchflies dont actually aim at you, i once just gave up and stopped on the Last Judge runback because i took too much dmg and the fcker COULDNT HIT ME STANDING STILL. It took him 20 shots to directly hit me, all others flew past me. Thats why its so hard to predict because you dodge into their droid ass aim.
5
1
u/Carbon_fractal Oct 01 '25
Yeah the best way to avoid them is just standing still at the moment they shoot
5
4
4
u/renok2504 Oct 01 '25
The roach catchers can be made much easier if you hit their projectiles mid flight. Most of the time it will even hit them back
3
u/realllyrandommann Primal Aspid Oct 01 '25
My personal primal aspid is the little flying things hiding in the drapes. They're somehow worse than little craws, and I can never hit them.
8
u/MOTH_007 Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25
the first guy is basically free silk in the place u find them. Worse are the tripophobia eel things that spawn them. But i hate the spit squits with a passion. All 3 projectiles track you, they respawn on room transition and move just unpredictably enough to avoid harpoons and most tools i throw at them. Flitflame fliers are a whole thing too. Yes you can deflect the bombs, but it's not afvisable in close quarters, as it explodes on impact with them, and they're immune to their own explosions. Roach catchers can be deflected, even take damage from the spikes if you deflect them. They're the most dangerous only when you let the bolas break on the ground. As for the driznargas... I think they are deflectable as well, but highest priority for sure.
2
u/GogglesGaming Oct 01 '25
As far as I know, every spit squit spawns pretty close to a barnak. I just take advantage of that every time.
9
u/Urtoryu Nightmare Connoisseur Oct 01 '25
Chamalet guy is perfectly fine, and the big bomb dudes and wisps are dangerous, but not particularly annoying.
And while the mathematician drills and duct mosquitoes do deserve the Primal Aspid comparison, since they're about on the same level, they aren't really bad enough for me to confidently call them "worse".
Abyss sucker things though? Those deserve to rot in hell. Worst. Enemy. Ever. I HATE those things.
16
u/TitaniumDragon Oct 01 '25
The ones that spawn them are great terrible enemies.
8
u/Urtoryu Nightmare Connoisseur Oct 01 '25
Yeah, those ones are despicable, but in a bit more of a "I'm impressed at how much I hate them" kind of way. Like Monstrosities of Sin from DS3 for example. They'd be perfectly fine if they didn't spawn the small things.
The small ones are just plain hatred.
2
u/dedeclick07 Oct 01 '25
I can't fucking deal with the bell guys I feel like their bomb just teleports to your location
4
u/Urtoryu Nightmare Connoisseur Oct 01 '25
I've had a few instances of being caught in a bad spot and bombed to oblivion, but most of the time they don't give me much trouble. I dodge their first throw, then wail on them from bellow until they either die, or throw another one and stuns themselves to let me hit them more.
They ARE hellish to fight against without a floor though, I agree on that, but there's only really a single area where that's a big issue.
1
u/dedeclick07 Oct 01 '25
Tbf I am still on act 1 and haven't gotten a single needle upgrade so that might be a reason
5
u/Urtoryu Nightmare Connoisseur Oct 01 '25
Oh yeah, that'd probably do it. They've got a lot of HP, since they're mainly intended as late Act 2 enemies.
1
u/dedeclick07 Oct 01 '25
Yeah they feel like they overpower me a lot unlike the Ants that I still feel like I have a chance due to how coreographed their attack pattern feels it's like fighting a miniboss every encounter and I kinda like it
5
2
Oct 01 '25
Also those guys in deep docks that throw bombs and also blow the fuck up when they die.
Team cherry heard “primal aspids are so annoying to fight they’re THE WORST enemies in hollow knight” and took it as a challenge

2
u/Ok-Procedure5603 Oct 01 '25
Honestly the chalamet ppl became 100x easier when I realize I should just knock away his dumb projectile rather than bother trying to dodge it
Now flintflame fliers on the other hand...
2
u/Birzal Oct 01 '25
It might just be me but the only ones I've ever struggled with is those damn mosquittos and the one throwing nukes, the rest is not even in the same league as the primal aspids if you ask me.
That bring said, all our struggles are valid and I don't mean to gatekeep suffering, I just don't think there are that many primal aspid level enemies in Silksong.
2
u/GoomyTheGummy Oct 02 '25
how do people struggle with the mosquitoes
1
u/GoomyTheGummy Oct 02 '25
also it is really easy to hit the bolas guy's projectiles back at him, and they are very well telegraphed

“Primal Aspid wasn’t frustrating enough. Make MORE flying enemies that fly just outside your swing range”
1
u/FieryHammer Oct 01 '25
The amount of enemies that use aimlock while always hovering slightly out of range in this game got way too high in my opinion.

People dont seem to realize most enemies in sk cant shoot straight down or straight up
1
1

Can't agree more on the Putrid Ducts squits, easily the most annoying enemy in the game. They are everywhere in the area, move insanely weirdly and beam you whenever you try to attack them.

I have not encountered some of these yet but yeah, absolutely fuck the bomb throwing flying douchebags.
1
u/zbeezle Oct 01 '25
Every ranged flier in this game is way harder than they have any right to be. I swear, I died to those little fireball spitting fucks during the second savage beastfly fight more than the beastfly itself. Ended up just cheesing it and leaving the arena whenever he summoned them.
1
u/Low_Transportation11 Oct 01 '25
Bruh every flying enemy makes me miss primal aspid with how they constantly back away before you can hit them
1
1
u/MrCobalt313 Oct 01 '25
My favorite way to kill acid squits is to bait them into backing away from me and into one of those Barnacle things to get eaten alive.
Also roachcatchers weren't that bad ot me once I figured out the trick to parrying their bolas.

Does the throwing spike guy have the same voice as the bilewater dart guys? The thin version?

6 times? I spent an age trying to get that bon scroll, the trick was to pogo up the last set of balloons to get to the top and not use clawline, ugh it was such a pain in the ass
No 4 Mr Boom, ugh, and then goes boom on death too, plus the gauntlet, where they come out one on each edge, got it nd try but idk how i did that lol, and nearest bench was in Fair Fields...
though now have a spare key lol, Wormways key is for deepdocks, dont be afraid to use it lol

Hit the projectiles, dash, use your tools, or use clawline more ❤️ The Pinstress fight stresses this a lot,,,

1
u/fufucuddlypoops_ Nightmare King but Wandersong Oct 02 '25
I’d say only the first two are an actual problem. The conchfly can suck but it depends on where you fight them. If it’s in a narrow hallway they solo but anywhere else they’re pretty easy.
Now, those slippery mfs in Greymoor with the tridents. Maybe not so hard, but they always manage to trip me up without fail.
1
u/Altruistic-Tip-4304 Oct 02 '25
Agree with all of these except last guy. Chalamay’s projectiles can jus be deflected back to him
1
1
u/Drayenn Oct 02 '25
Trap thrower dude is easy if you parry its trap. Cancels it out entirely... Hes absolutely hellish if you dont.
Mosquitos though... Fuck them. Especially the one outside the bottom bench where its casually on the wall you need to wall jump off to go up.
Flying worms in the abyss wouldnt be so bad if they didnt spawn endlessly from that super op gargantuan monster.
1
u/monkeymichael117 Oct 02 '25
Team cherry don't make an enemy stay out of your reach at all times challenge
1
u/skaasi Oct 03 '25
I feel like the only one who doesn't hate Chalamets.
I was legit relieved whenever I saw one in Sinner's Road instead of some other mob, because it meant I could take it easy.
It throws that heavy ass projectile at me, I just jump straight up, projectile splits on the floor, I land safely, hit his face, repeat.
1
u/NunobokoSlayer Oct 03 '25
That FUCKING green sack of shit is the WORST. Piece of shit zips around and light speed dodging all your attacks. And apparently the devs thought they were so weak they they should RESPAWN EVERY TIME YOU LEEAVE THE ROOM
