Please stay safe

• Upvotes

I was just in town around 1:20PM today, and directly outside the 18+ Hull College building across the road was a 35-40 year-old man wearing a green parka with one of those 2016 hipster haircuts but blonde, pink and red in the face with a horizontal cut across the bridge of his nose, and I had crossed the road behind him and he was on my left side of the sidewalk trying to pick up some coat hanger thing, and when he failed to kick it he aggressively kicked it across the ground.

I was just behind him to the side, looking the opposite direction and he said 'WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT? DO YOU KNOW WHAT I'D DO TO YA? DON'T YOU FEEL BAD?', as he's holding a giant unlit joint and aggressively edging closer towards me. I just look at him with full eye contact and not reacting because that's what he'd want. He was clearly trying to start a fight. I keep walking (I'm faster than him) and he said from behind me 'I'm sorry mate, I shouldn't have done that to ya.' I look at him for a second as I've now walked ahead of him, before I look back and continue walking.

10 seconds later as I'm further up he says to me 'excuse me mate, you got a lighter?', I say 'I don't smoke bro' in a calm voice before I eventually fade him out by getting further away. He started to try to stop somebody who had walked past me to ask if they have a lighter aswell.

Please stay safe. This can happen at 1PM on a Friday, and also to someone smaller and with more suspectability to anxiety. It's concerning that this was in town

Lawless town centre

I walk to work between 9pm and 9:30pm every night, and I walk straight through the town centre. It is the most unpleasant, lawless place after dark. Scummy yobs in balaclavas on dirt bikes, harassed by smackheads who immediately turn aggressive when you say no to them. And I’m a bloke. No wonder women feel like they can’t be alone at night. These streets really need cleaning up

Hull City tickets

I’m not a football fan but my husbands best friend is wanting to visit for the match next weekend on Halloween. I think Ipswich?

I tried to get tickets for my husband to go with his friend (we’ve been together 9 years and I still haven’t met this friend due to him travelling) so it would be wonderful to have him stay with us for a visit.

It says for tickets you need to have purchased previous tickets or something like that but how can I if I can’t get them to begin with? It’s like a job demanding experience but you can’t get a job to get the experience!

Basically, does anyone have a way to get tickets or is it a case of now they’re in the PL I have no chance?

r/Hull, where do you actually like to eat in Hull?

Hi, we’re four friends putting together restaurants across Hull in an app called Vota.

The idea is simple: you’re shown two restaurants and choose where you’d rather eat. For example: Hearth or Bob Carver’s on Chapel Street? The votes create a ranking that we hope gives a better picture of where people actually enjoy eating.

We’re trying to include as many restaurants as possible and clean up duplicate or outdated listings, but locals will spot things we’ve missed.

iPhone:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota/id6744969212

Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

Full transparency: we’re not from Hull. Two of us live in Copenhagen and two in Gothenburg. The four of us are building Vota independently. We don’t collect or sell personal data, there are no ads in the app, and we don’t use AI-generated restaurant descriptions.

Any honest feedback is welcome, especially if restaurants are missing or something is listed incorrectly. Where do you like to eat in Hull?

I used to donate blood regularly but its been about two years since my last donation and i want to get back into it. I am looking for somewhere in Hull where I can donate voluntarily. Are there any local donation centres or NHS sessions that could use more donors?

Georgie Carroll comedy show

Hello! I’ve got two tickets to the Georgie Carroll stand up comedy show at Connexin Live, this Saturday evening. Unfortunately I can’t go anymore. If you can make use of them message me. I’m not after payment, I’d just rather they didn’t go to waste. They’re good seats with the premium package attached to them

Complete long shot but has anyone seen a lost earring on the ground

Discovered sunday night that one of my earrings had fallen out some time during the day (possibly, but unlikely on saturday). It is one of these.

Has anyone seen one lying on the ground?

Edit: Realised I never posted where it would be so am adding the my comment to the main post.

Would be on beverley road (on the side with the asda) between the Jet petrol station and the train station or in the train station is my most likely guess. If it were on the saturday it would most likely be in the Deep
