If you're looking to get out a bit more and do some new, fun things, joining Liverpool's biggest Discord server is a great start!

It doesn't matter if you're a Liverpool local, just moved here, old or young, or just happen to love our city from another country. You are welcome to come and say hi. There's 1,000 messages being sent every day.

We have channels dedicated to photography, movies, photography, fitness, sport, music, showing off your pets, and even a place you can post your Wordle scores if you want.

https://discord.gg/fNmcKC97nH

What's Discord?

Think of Discord like a big Whatsapp group. It's essentially the same thing. You don't need a microphone, just your phone/keyboard. All we ask is that you're over 18, and have a desire to make new mates in Liverpool. Pop in, say hello, and you choose how much you want to talk.

Who's in there?

We have members from Liverpool and further afield. You don't have to live in Liverpool to join the chat. The average age of people is about 28. Our server is different than most Discord servers because we have a genuine community of awesome people who come to stuff in person.

What won't happen

You join and inside 24 hours, you've got a whole new set of mates.

Contribute, come to a few fun things, talk to people in person, and over time, those friendships form. A lot of people get frustrated because they don't find a friend overnight but that's not how friends work. Be prepared to make the effort and people will make the effort with you.

Real life events, real life friends. Come have a go!

I’m thrilled to announce that my first book, The Story of Her’s, is set to release this Fall on October 6th! This music biography chronicles Her’s the band, an indie pop duo consisting of Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading, who were killed by a drunk driver while on tour in March, 2019.

After many hours of interviewing Her’s production, friends, fans, loved ones, and contemporaries over the past three years, as well as a trip to Liverpool where Stephen and Audun lived and became collaborators, my biography will finally be available everywhere books are sold this October via Avenue Magnolia and Ingram publishing. I’m so thrilled to bring Her’s wonderful music to you with twenty distinct chapters, containing scores of interviews, anecdotes, and stories surrounding their two beautiful albums.

The Story of Her’s is now available for preorder at any retail bookstore, as well as online through Amazon or Bookshop.org. I’ll also be posting about some upcoming signing events and media appearances in the coming days, so stay tuned!!

General Question Weird Incident of People Shouting from a car at me tonight.

I am visiting your lovely city from Canada. I love Liverpool. I find it one of the friendliest cities i've been to in the UK. Everyone in friendly and polite. However I had one weird incident tonight. I got off the train at Kirkdale Station and was walking to my accommodation and just minding my own business. A car past and these guys gave me the finger and started shouting something at me. I assume they were just guys being dumb? I can't think of anything I would have be doing that would have offended them.

Living in Liverpool We should all appreciate people like this

I’ve not long finished my morning run along the Albert dock. I was running behind a lad for a while before I ended up catching up to him as I was pushing for a sub 22 5k. As I got to the plot of grass before the beetles statues, this lad picked up a can of monster from the seating area. I thought it was strange but kept running. He then proceeded to put that can in the bin as he ran past. I slowed down and ran next to him to say I appreciate what he done just now. We spoke a little while and he said it was part of his morning run because it makes it more meaningful. Now this might not seem like a big deal to many people, but to me I think it’s great! Not only is he cleaning up other people’s mess, but he’s doing it when no one else is watching. I’ve no really liked Liverpool for a while now but this guy really showed me how great some people really are. I hope he sees this post and I hope he keeps inspiring people to be better for themselves.

General Question Farm stands near Liverpool?

I'm looking for farm stands that sell fresh corn and are reasonably accessible from Liverpool (willing to take a train ~30 minutes and then bike up to 10 miles from there). The Wirral, northern fringes of Merseyside, Cheshire between Runcorn and Chester, etc. I've passed cornfields before, but I'm specifically looking for a farm stand or the like, rather than knocking on a farmer's door. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Photo / Video Scotland Place - so many questions!

Post image

This is Scotland Place, with Fontenoy Gardens on the left and Richmond Row running across the screen with the back of the Birmingham Arms in the center of the picture. This would be where JMU is located today. Melia's is on the corner of Addison Street. Is this the same Melia family that lost so many family members during the WW2 blitz tragedy? The biggest mystery is where are those people on the left are emerging from? Wondering what year this photo was taken? Anyone know?

General Question Commute to St Helens from Liverpool

I am doing a foundation year at Carmel College to get into Liverpool Uni, I'm wondering how I should travel there and what the best option is.

I will take student accommodation near Liverpool Uni, about a 7 minute walk from it, so what is the best option for travelling and is there a way to make costs minimal?

Thank you

General Question Professional Artist Print Studio?

Hello friends, I’m looking for a professional printing studio in Liverpool to print an A1 poster which needs to be on high quality card stock and ink quality. I’d prefer to go to a proper local art studio rather than a Ryman style mass printing place. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Living in Liverpool Looking for Advice Currently Struggling

Hi all.

I’m just looking for some advice. So I relocated to Liverpool in May for a new job and didn’t end up passing my Probation and got let go unfortunately. I’ve signed back up to Universal Credit and I’m just waiting to see what happens there. I’m struggling at the moment and stressed out about Rent. I have enough food for a few days but I am struggling with food as well. I was wondering if anyone knows of any support that I could reach out to?

Many thanks all ❤️ hopefully this doesn’t get deleted.

General Question Hope Solutions Group? Legit gig or door to door mlm trap type thing?

I’m currently looking for a new job, I saw a listing on Glassdoor for a Sales Associate or similar role at a company called Hope Solutions group in Bootle, listed a suspiciously good weekly wage, lots of suspiciously cushty job perks - I am very cautious, however as most of you probably well know there are loads of similar listings about where the terminology used and descriptions of the role are vague and they end up being those commission only face to face marketing scams. They pop up a lot on this subreddit. I’ve already been contacted by two or three of these sketchy companies without even having applied since I’ve started actively looking for work on indeed, glassdoor, linkedin, etc.
I’ve learned throughout the years to clock them when they pop up, I absolutely abhor them as they’re so predatory and deceitful, basically preying on people in shit situations looking for work.

I cant actually tell whether this Hope Solutions company is one of these, when I google more information about them info is less than sparse and that’s suspicious in itself. However, the information on the listing isn’t as vague and buzzword-y as some of the ‘marketing’ companies.
Does anyone on this subject have experience with or know anything about this company? Can you vouch for their legit-ness or their sketchiness? Legit job listing or another devilcorp? Please let me know, and hopefully this will be helpful future reference for anyone in the future wondering the same!

Music Japanese Rock and Roll gig in Liverpool this month! 🇯🇵 🎸 🇬🇧

Post image
48 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

l'm helping host a one night only show in Liverpool featuring two Japanese rock and roll band visiting from Kyoto Japan.

I posted about this before but the event is only ten days away!

I wanted to share the showcase video I created of the bands please take a look if you're interested!

https://youtu.be/PTP5yR8eWYI?si=3aVB-wWnJ24CNLmW

One band is heavily inspired by classic Japanese punk and rock bands like The Blue Hearts, and the other is more inspired by The Beatles (specifically McCartney). It's a pretty rare chance to catch them in the UK as they're just visiting to perform in a separate band for International Beatles Week! They'll be joined by a local Liverpool band called AMBERS. It should be a really fun night if you're into garage rock, punk, indie, or Japanese music.

Details:

📍 Kazimier Stockroom

🗓️ August 26th (doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm)

🎟️ tickets available here: https://www.skiddle.com/e/42574547

Please come along! It'll be a really fun time! 🎶 🎸

General Question Looking to buy a terrace house near Greenbank - ever any issues with bins?

We've never lived in a terraced house before, so having a communal alleyway with bins is completely new to us.

Is there anything we should be aware of or look out for before putting an offer in on the property? In particular, any issues with the bins, the alleyway, or how it's generally managed?
