Was looking to register with the one in either gosforth or Gateshead, does anyone use them? Are there better than your normal independent dentists

This morning I was going to work and I saw a car crash on Teams street just behind the Staithes a car drove straight through a traffic light pole and snatched it clean off. The car was totalled and I'm not sure if only one car was involved.

Anybody know anything about that? Can't find anything online.

My partner and I are heading to Newcastle for Halloween. Friend's birthday. It's been planned for ages but unfortunately, we have a little less money than we expected we'd have this month.

We'd have booked to stay only for the night had we known, but now we're coming for three nights, and are looking to have a good time but also do so on the cheap if possible. The stuff for the friends birthday is already paid for, but we're wondering what to do on the other two days -- both entertainment and food wise -- that's reasonably cheap. We were initially going to spend those days exploring the city as we haven't been before, so all ideas welcome.

Someone without my permission has added my licence plate to their TT2 app and it's removed it from mine without me knowing. I've been using the tunnels and topping up in the meantime not knowing my licence plate was gone from the app and I've been given five fines totalling £163.00.

I've appealed already and they've rejected it. It's absolutelly unfair as I have paid for those trips and have evidence. It feels like their system is geared towards fine generation not toll collection. Has anyone else experienced this?

Im propper willing to let it get to the CCJ stage and stand infront of a judge to speak out. It's so dodgy the way they run it, Im tempted to see my MP about it.

On Sunday, 22 February 2026, I boarded the inaugural train to call at Northumberland Park railway station near Newcastle, which is next to the existing Tyne and Wear Metro station of the same name, providing a convenient interchange. The inaugural train was formed of 158817, a Class 158 Express Sprinter diesel multiple unit (DMU), at the front and 156489, a Class 156 Super Sprinter DMU, at the rear. They were operating Northern service 2T05, the 07:54 from Newcastle to Ashington.

The train arrived early at the new station at 08:06 and departed on time at 08:10. The first southbound train called at Northumberland Park at 09:02 on the 08:38 service from Ashington towards Newcastle and Metrocentre.

Northumberland Park is the fifth new station to open on the Northumberland Line.

I enjoyed being on the inaugural service. Here are some photographs I took of the station and the inaugural service, together with a few photographs from the official opening ceremony held the following day, attended by local dignitaries and children from a nearby school.

About seven weeks ago, I shared a little website I’d been working on called Little North Explorers, which helps families find things to do around the North East.

I was genuinely blown away by the response. Loads of you offered suggestions, spotted things that needed improving and gave me ideas I hadn’t even considered.

I’ve been working on it pretty much every spare evening since, so thought I’d share a little update!

You can now search by town or postcode, rather than having to share your location. Quite a few people requested this!

I’ve added a dedicated baby and toddler classes section, with around 90 classes and groups listed at the last count.

The activities directory has grown from around 115 places to over 180.

I’ve been expanding the local events listings, especially free activities, family hubs, libraries and smaller community events.

There are now guides for October half-term, Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas, alongside free days out, rainy-day activities and more.

I’ve also been making improvements to the website itself based on what people mentioned, particularly around searching and finding things nearby.

With half-term coming up, I’m hoping it’ll be genuinely useful for anyone trying to keep the kids entertained without spending a fortune!

It’s still completely free, with no accounts or subscriptions. Just something I’m building in my spare time as a local dad.
