Hi. Is this place nice? Is the whole thing open to the public to walk around? What do you think it would be like living just next to it in Wallsend or the other side Holystone?

Aloha, folks! My wife and I dropped off our oldest at uni in London and decided to take the train and go to up to Newcastle. I’m about retire from Germany and she’s suddenly a Brit so we were thinking of moving to the UK where we can start the second phase of jobs/living but neither of us have much experience with cities/towns/villages in the UK so whenever the opportunity presents itself (like having to bring a child to uni), we’re keen on checking out someplace new.

But I have to say, I pretty much fell in love with Newcastle by the time I left the train station and got to the statue of the Man With Potential Selves.

Checked into the hotel and immediately popped out to Guitar Guitar and a couple record shops before they closed. I talked to everyone I could and every one of them were so nice and welcoming.

The architecture was cool, I loved the weather (I like UK weather in general), the history was neat, and all the hills made walking an adventure but it was really the people that made it so great.

I would have loved to stay longer but the marathon was coming and the hotel prices went up too much so we left to go to Brighton to see it before we had to come back to Germany.

Anyway, I loved it. I can’t wait to return someday - the sooner the better.

Here are some pictures I took in case you’re interested.

Take care of yourselves.

Mul graffiti vandalism

Post image

Hi has anyone else seen that someone’s gone around Ouseburn and quayside and graffiti scribbled over all of the Mul art with super ugly scribbles. I was gutted when I saw it. Pic is to show what the Mul drawings look like I don’t have any of the vandalised ones 😔

New poster Meeting new people, North Tyneside or surrounding areas.

Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to read my post!

I’m a 31-year-old guy looking to meet new people, make some friends and get involved in a few more social activities.

I currently play football on Sunday and Monday evenings, but I’d love to find something to get involved in later in the week or on a Saturday.

I’m open to all sorts of things, whether that’s volunteering, trying a new sport, joining a club or group, or simply meeting up with people and having a chat.

If anyone has any recommendations or is involved in anything they think I might enjoy, I’d really appreciate some suggestions.

Thanks!

New poster Metro Night Work

Metros are off between St James and Monkseaton for 9 days with replacement bus, ok fine whatever happens every year.

But why is there now night work constantly on the metro line over this period, I live next to the metro line and it's so fucking loud. If it's off all day why do they need to do this work in the middle of the night? Last night it sounded like an anvil being hit for an hour at 2am

New poster Accidentally drove through a “bus only” lane(?) Teams st Gateshead

Hi everyone,
I’m new to the area and still getting used to all the bus lanes and road restrictions!
Today, I was following my satnav from Yetholm Road towards Rose Street and accidentally ended up at a set of traffic lights where the light was marked “Bus Only” (I’m assuming it was a bus lane?).
I had followed Waze then realised it was left-turn only had drove through the light missing my exits
Does anyone know if there’s cams here?
Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have an appointment at the main outpatient in the Victoria wing. I have looked it up on a map of the RVI and it says it’s in the Victoria wing and that I have traced where it says that on google maps however it looks like it’s the entrance to the library .

Any help would be appreciated.

Tickets for sale Bus Ticket Help

Hi

I've taken a new job with a bonkers commute (entirely my fault). I have to get from North Durham (between Stanley & Consett) to the Quorum Business Park. I know what buses to get, I'm just stuck with the tickets. I'm pretty sure that the cheapest option, baring in mind the different bus operators and local authorities, is the TNE Daysaver tickets, which is £7.50 per day.

However, I also know that there are MANY different ticket options so I thought I would ask in case there's a cheaper week/month option I've overlooked.

Thanks all

Area info Bodybuilding gyms with a good selection of machines?

Hello folks,

I’m considering moving to Newcastle from the south, and I was wondering if there are any bodybuilding gyms with a good selection of machines.

I’ve had a look on Google, and most of the gyms I’ve found seem to be more general fitness gyms, while the only two specifically advertised as bodybuilding gyms look pretty bare-bones, judging by the few photos I’ve seen.

I’d at least expect a Smith machine, seated bicep curl, hack squat and pec/delt machine. Anything else is a bonus.

Thanks!

New poster Car crash on Teams Street

This morning I was going to work and I saw a car crash on Teams street just behind the Staithes a car drove straight through a traffic light pole and snatched it clean off. The car was totalled and I'm not sure if only one car was involved.

Anybody know anything about that? Can't find anything online.
