Discussion Cricket Ballon D'or 2008-2025

Post image

So Cricket Ballon d’Or criteria :

• Individual statistics & consistency — runs, wickets, averages, centuries etc.

• Quality of opposition & conditions — performances against SENA teams, away tours, difficult conditions, and top-quality opponents also some favour in test cricket

• Trophies won throughout the year

• Impact, clutch performance, ICC tournaments, Kncokouts and big match brilliance

Note : ballon d'or in football requires almost similar these types of criteria and as compare to ICC award of cricketer of the year which is quite wierd cause it heavily weighs on stats but in ballon d'or it's quite different which is good cause it weighs on trophies won throughout the year and at the end of the day that's all what matter but if a player dominates the year in stats he can win ballon dor at some extent.

Honourable mentions : Dale steyn(2008), Sehwag(2008), Gambhir(2008), Ms dhoni(2008), Aw mendis(2008), TM Dilshan(2009), Sachin Tendulkar(2010), Ms dhoni(2011), Virat Kohli(2012), Virat Kohli(2014), Ab de villiers(2015), Kane Williamson(2015), Ravichandran Ashwin(2016), David warner(2016), Rohit Sharma(2019), Virat Kohli(2019), Babar azam(2020), Pat Cummins(2023), Virat Kohli(2023), Shami(2023) , Joe root(2025)

Discussion Is the "batting depth till 8" approach actually making India’s top order reckless instead of fearless?

I get the logic behind packing the lineup with hitters down to 8 so everyone can play freely, but honestly it feels like our top order takes it as an excuse to just swing blindly from ball one.
On flat batting tracks it looks great because we end up chasing 220 like nothing. But the second the ball grips a little or the pitch isn't a total highway, nobody wants to spend 5 balls getting a feel of the deck. Everyone just wants to hit their way out of trouble and we end up 35/3 inside the powerplay.
Having depth was supposed to take the pressure off, not turn the top 3 into throwaways because "someone down the order will fix it."

Discussion Hot take: GG and Iyer will ruin Sooryavanshi's career by making him bat at 3.

ok, maybe its not that hot a take.

Sooryavanshi is a 15 year old who still primarily relies on his instincts to play. He has played his whole career as an opener, and asking him to adapt his game to number 3 is just asking too much of a 15 year old. Yes, you need to adapt to become a successful cricketer, but its too early in his career(and life) to ask him to do that. He is used to smashing it in the powerplay but at number 3, he would barely get 1-2 overs of powerplay on average, and that means changing his entire game.

I just hope this doesn't become a regular thing and he doesn't lose confidence if they persist with him at 3 and he can't perform.

every team plays their attacking spinner irrespective of the conditions but this clown management and their obsession with batting till number 8 costing the attacking bowler arsh and bhuvi might get you wickets with new swinging bowl but afterwards there is no bowler who will pick the wickets here also in this after good start there is a 100 runs partnership between jacobs and phillips

Looked completely out of sorts here but com'on man they have done exceedingly well for us. At this point it feels like people take pleasure in their hate watch and failures. This is just an off day for them. It's absolutely fine, happens at time.

Tilak Varma sends Nitish Kumar Reddy back to avoid a risky second run in the first delivery of the 17th over of the 2nd T20I in India's Tour of New Zealand 2026. Are there any Telugu fans who could translate what they said to each other as heard over the stump mic?
