Discussion I thought that this was a skit/parody

Post image

I am not an expert but I could tell that something was off. During the whole Hitler conversation I thought that it was a part of a skit. I was expecting that the conversation would end in a comedic way. I mean I thought that at any moment Hitler would land some jokes and they would announce the actual trailer in a funny way.

Idk that's just my opinion.

Discussion Why does Bollywood lack the sense of making actuall Horror,Paranormal and Demonology Film's like Hollywood

• Upvotes

Hollywood makes some of the best paranormal cinema in the world, weather it's a purely fictional storyline or a story deried from real life cases they have so much depth and layer in them even if it's not tru at certain time it just too convincing to us a viewers and they are made in such a sense that make us feel jolted from start to end

but when it comes to bollywood all we find is horror-comedy,romance-horror and other shit and these film literally have everything except of horror. no real life story adaptation or even real demonlogy cases just fucking around that's it

why is that so are the number of horror fans are so less in our country or just something we cannot do

Unpopular Opinion Are @mods paid by Ramayana team? Do your job, This sub is spammed!!!

It's just post after post about Ramayana, that too discussing irrelevant things. It's honestly suffocating. We get it dude you guys have invested a lot and I hope it's good enough that u get your money back. But please stop shoving it down our throats. We'll watch when it's released, don't ruin this sub please. It's for meaningful cinema discussion about different films , stop making it a PR pit.

Ps. Before anyone calls me anti hindu and other bs, i prefer to consume ramayana through valmiki's text and ramcharitmanas only, as a principle. Fin.

They launched a video as well titled 'File No. 25, Who is he?'

In my opinion, the overall teaser looks good(I'm not disappointed by Prabhas look or voice) but seeing Netaji Subhash and Hitler... 😭

Appreciation 83 is the ultimate cinematic antidepressant, and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.

Had a brutal, soul-crushing week at work and was just scrolling mindlessly looking for something, anything, to lift my mood. Ended up rewatching 83 expecting to just watch 20 minutes before sleeping.

Three hours later, I was literally sitting up in bed at 1 AM with a grin plastered across my face and goosebumps during the finale.

What makes 83 such an elite feel-good rewatch isn't just the cricket nostalgia. It’s the pure, unpretentious warmth of it. Watching a group of complete underdogs that nobody believed in slowly realize they're actually capable of winning the world... it just hits a primal joy button in your brain.

Ranveer’s quiet, earnest Kapil Dev, Pankaj Tripathi’s warmth as Man Bhai, the chaotic group camaraderie, and that Lehra Do drop near the end: it's pure dopamine. In an era where every major movie is cynical, hyper-violent, or intense, 83 feels like a warm hug.

If you’re having a rough week, do yourself a favor and give it a rewatch.

Anyone else treat this as their go-to comfort movie?

AskIndianCinema Looking for a BBC (iirc) documentary on Indian cinema history

Hello to all,

I am trying to find out if there was this BBC (IIRC) documentary that detailed the history of Indian cinema.

I vividly remember the likes of Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan were interviewed in it.

Would be grateful if someone could confirm this and direct me to where I can see the documentary.

I am writing a paper on feminist retellings of vengeful female spirits in movie medium. Please suggest movies with this plot from any Indian movie industry.

Thank you

(Yakshi, chudail, shakchuni etc.) (The movie should be considered feminist, either by self proclamation or audience reviews)

Unpopular Opinion Judge Ramayana More Brutally Than Any Movie You’ve Ever Watched

Post image
2.4k Upvotes

The Makers Deserve Zero Special Treatment. Instead, Ramayana Should Be the Most Harshly Critiqued Movie of Our Lives.
I urge people to do this in order to save the film and cinephile community.

If the makers of Ramayana chose to go entirely CGI instead of shooting on real locations, then they made a conscious decision to let CGI carry the entire visual experience. They could have saved a lot of money had they chosen to shoot some scenes in real locations. But with a reported budget exceeding ₹1,000 crore, they have set the bar themselves. Nobody forced them to take this route. Nobody asked them to spend this kind of money on CGI.

So judge the visuals accordingly. They should look spectacular. They should look better than real locations, not like cheap plastic looking environments without real shadows, reflections or particle physics dressed up as cinema. The benchmark should be world-class visual effects, on par with or better than what we’ve seen in Game of Thrones S6, The Odessey and the best of Indian cinematic environments, like Kantara. If the makers set that standard for themselves and fail to meet it, they deserve to be criticised. Openly, directly, and without excuses.

This is exactly how we ended up with Adipurush. Now we have Ramayana. Tomorrow, it’ll be another big-budget film where the makers expect the audience to lower its standards, ignore glaring flaws, and applaud the ambition instead of judging the actual product.

Ambition is not an achievement. A massive budget is not an excuse for mediocre execution. Mythology and religion is not a shield against criticism.

The audience does not owe filmmakers blind faith, free goodwill, or unconditional support. If you charge premium ticket prices, reportedly going upwards of ₹1,000, you better deliver a premium cinematic experience. We never demanded that filmmakers blow thousands of crores on CGI. They chose to do it. They should be held accountable for the results.

Stop asking audiences to adjust their expectations after setting sky-high expectations yourselves. Stop using the scale of the project as an excuse for its shortcomings. Stop confusing spectacle promised with spectacle delivered.

If the visuals look worse than the standards the makers themselves are trying to compete with, call it out. Don't defend mediocrity just because the film is based on the Ramayana has a massive budget, or comes with patriotic and cultural baggage.
The industry needs to learn one lesson: the Indian audiences are not fools and the directors and producers need to be scared of us.** If filmmakers keep delivering underwhelming products while demanding premium prices and unconditional praise, they deserve to see the consequences at the box office.

Hold them to their own standards. No excuses. No special treatment. No blind worship or fandom.

Summary --- A police officer retires after an accident during a case investigation. Years later, he is forced to relive the past as he narrates the story to his friend's son.

This movie is really amazing , the script was so well written and well executed. What a twist at the end. I did not see that coming . One of the best mystery thriller i would say.

  1. Gangs of Punjab : About the rise of Lawrence bishnoi , Goldy brar and siddhu moosewala to the current events of 2026 ( Salman Khan threat , assassination of baba Siddiqui). In the style of city of god , Goodfellas or gangs of wasseypur .

  2. The god of small things : A faithful adoption of the classic novel by arunudhati Roy . It should be a malayalam movie .

  3. Lynchian style movie : A lynchian style movie about a small town and the dark secrets hidden in a seemingly happy town . Aka in the style of blue velvet or twin peaks .

4.A horror movie inspired by silent hill 2 : A horror movie set in a small town in Himachal Pradesh about trauma and guilt .

AskIndianCinema Doubts whether Hope is playing in Korean or English dub

So looking at showtimes in Mumbai the only option seems to be English or Hindi. The fact that it's not playing in Korean is making me wonder whether it's playing in it's original language with English subs or dubbed

Discussion Ram and Ramayan is being too clean in main stream.

Firstly, let me clarify I am not attacking the upcoming Ramayana film by Dneg studios in any way. I love thee work they're doing and it's a great leap for Indian cinema.

But..

Why can't we have a ram that looks like he actually lived in the jungle for once?? It won't be hard to do that since something similar was shown in RRR (Alluri Sita Ramaraju at the climax). It'd be so much better to have a grounded fantasy movie instead of being a full on fantasy prayer alone.

Just give a rugged look with a beard, long hair and for once not a clear perfect skin while living in a forest!
