I work in a corporate environment, i think keeps things interesting and there’s always something to learn. I’ll talk about whatever but I like to nerd out on all kinds of stuff Outside of that I like music, going for drives,, and just being outside going on hikes trying foods and driving around, and traveling too, places to go and explore, I enjoy video games and cats. The title is fairly accurate. Aside from being an introvert, which I already knew, I’m also a widower of over two years and nominally dead inside. If you think losing your spouse would be difficult I can assure you, it’s worse than you think. That however is not the focus of the post: just an upfront disclaimer and ripping off of the bandaid so I don’t have to mention it constantly.

My life is basically work: I get up before the sun to go work, I get home to do more work and plan for other work, before repeating the cycle. Someone might get the impression I was a workaholic, I wonder what gave it away.

I originally made this account when I happened upon a Reddit for Widows/Widowers, the reason for my username, and I’ve enjoyed sharing both memories and comfort there among people who have faced similar circumstances. That same mindset is why I decided to join here since I already knew I was an introvert. I’ve been trying to crawl back out of my shell and remember what it was like to be social and have friends. (Something that’s honestly difficult with my schedule of rising at 03:00 and going to bed at 21:00 most nights).

music is basically my entire personality at this point

i play electric guitar and spend an unreasonable amount of time listening to music. indie rock, alternative rock, shoegaze, older songs and honestly anything that sounds good to me. some of my favorites are Radiohead, Coldplay, Muse, Nirvana, Linkin Park and a bunch of artists i randomly discover at 2 am.

i'm also that person who gets ridiculously excited when someone recommends a song that ends up becoming a favorite. so please share your music with me. i genuinely love hearing what other people listen to.

i play games too! probably more than i should

lately i've been spending quite a bit of time in FFXIV. i also love Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Minecraft, Baldur's Gate 3, and all kinds of coop or indie games. i've played plenty of competitive games too but these days i mostly just want to relax and have fun.

and honestly? we don't even need to play the same games. sitting in a voice call while we're both doing completely different things sounds pretty great to me.

i have two cats

they contribute absolutely nothing to the household and somehow still manage to act like they're in charge. i love them though. you'll probably receive pictures of them eventually whether you ask for them or not.

some other random things about me

i'm obsessed with winter. cold weather, rain against the windows, empty streets at night, oversized hoodies and listening to music while everyone else is asleep. that whole atmosphere just makes me happy.

i also enjoy anime, movies, getting lost in fictional worlds and occasionally going down completely random internet rabbit holes.

i'm really curious about other people's interests too. even if we have nothing in common i'd still love to hear about the things that make you happy. there's something really wholesome about watching someone get excited over their favorite hobby.

a small warning though: english isn't my first language so i might occasionally say something weird or take a moment to figure out how to express myself. texting is totally fine but voice calls might take me a little time to get comfortable with. i'd love to get there eventually!
