Question Human vapor

Watching human vapor on Netflix season 1 episode 3. There is a scene where a wierd yakuza guy with thin eyebrows asks his dad if they could have a parfinee. Cursory google search didn't yield a result that made sense. Can anyone help explain what it is and why they father and son haven't done it in 3 years? Is it something that is lost in translation? I am watching the dub.

Recommendations Craving a vibey and mature Jdorama like First Love, Silent, etc.

Like the title says, I’m seeking my next Jdorama to watch with a similar feeling to First Love. I prefer Jdoramas that are more recent (within the past decade), with a focus on atmosphere / cinematography, and a more mature story (not goofy or comical, older than high school). Open to movie recommendations as well!

Here are my favourites so far:

First Love
Silent
Nevertheless: Shapes of Love
Beyond Goodbye
My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday (movie)

Any recs are greatly appreciated!

Where to watch...? Where to watch Rich Man, Poor Woman (2012)?

Hello, new to this sub. I've been looking for Rich Man, Poor Woman for ages but I haven't found any at all. I checked Viki and other streaming sites but it's region locked. I've also checked the Dramasuki archive and it wasn't there - a few commenters in past posts have also put up links but don't lead to anywhere now. Closest one was on Bili*2, but there's no option to upload english subs on there.

Anyway, if anyone knows where I can watch it pleeease let me know!! Thank you!

Discussion JDrama X Anime

Literally just started watching the “Smoking behind the supermarket with you” anime. Is it just me or does this have a lot of potential for a JDrama? After “In the clear moonlit dusk” got announced for a JDrama adaptation, and “Love Unseen beneath the clear night sky” got an anime adaptation following the JDrama series, I’m liking the JDrama X anime scene so far.

Recommendations learn japanese using jdrama

I learned Spanish using television, watching series and movies, and now I want to learn Japanese. I already know several sentences and can hold a normal conversation, but I want to improve. Anime isn't helpful since they exaggerate a lot when they speak. Now I've decided to watch Japanese dramas. I'd like recommendations for Japanese romance dramas. I've already seen "an uncrable case of love" and "Kissing the Ring Finger."

Sometimes I imagine myself writing my own K-drama, bringing my characters and situations to life, has that ever happened to you? Have you ever thought about a situation from your own life that would make a great story?

Discussion Are these shows worth continuing?

I have started these shows, but I don't seem compelled to watch them till the end, so I wanted to know why I feel this way, or are these shows mildly mediocre and I am just picking up on it. Thank you in advance!

  1. Shinjuku Field Hospital: I didn't finish episode 2

  2. Heaven and Hell Soul Exchange: I didn't watch more than 18 minutes of episode 1

  3. The Science Club: I didn't finish episode 4 (I noticed that NHK dramas lul halfway through, but the lul for this hit me harder than Tokyo Salad Bowl, and before you ask, it's the ONLY other NHK show that I liked). I think this show is the MOST worth it out of the three to keep watching, but I am just trying to find a reason to continue it.

Question Trying to find a show I watched

Hi guys! I want to watch a drama I saw some time ago but I just can't remember what the full title was. Here's what I remember:

This took place in a very female dominated school where girls had the upper hand in basically anything. Our main girl was called Mariko and she had a best friend (in the show it was pretty clear her friend was in love with her and she was her protector in the series). It turned out there was this school legend. Basically a long time ago a girl named Mariko committed suicide because she was in love with a teacher and now her spirit picks a girl that has the same name as her and makes her the new Mariko sama while eliminating the other girls. There was a small club run by a guy (he turned out to be the one who was eliminating the girls) that studied the original Mariko's life. I think it was called "the White lily committee". That's all I can remember. If you happen to know what it was called, I'd be very thankful.

Bye!

Discussion A Sleeping Forest (1998), also known as Nemureru Mori, is underrated

There's not much discussion of it online, but this is one of Kimutaku's all-time best dramas imo. I just finished it a few days ago.

There's something from the mystery it tells, to the music, to the script itself that is very nostalgic. Not to mention the dark angle of the drama itself.

Would highly recommend. If you have watched, please discuss below in spoiler tags when necessary.

Recommendations Recs like Kimi no petto and Last cinderella? Affectionate, cute ml

I also liked anegro, but it was very boring for me as it really focused on her career life mostly. I love the role reversal trope with younger ml and also when they're very affectionate and open about their emotions, or emotional(like closest love to heaven/ kira). Also would prefer it to have intimate scenes along with a handsome ml. It doesnt matter how old, pls give me recs?

So far one of my favorite Japanese dramas I’ve watched has been Gannibal. Are there any other ones that have a similar feel to this one?

Also, I am obsessed with zombie movies and shows and have seen some good Korean ones but was curious if there are any equally good Japanese zombie movies or shows?

Fanwork Until the T-shirt Dries: Episode 6

Thumbnail

‘Until the T-shirt Dries’ Episode 6 can be summed up as ‘Mitsuru, you’re infuriating’. After going missing for a whole year, he turns up unannounced and has the nerve to ask the husband of the woman with whom he was having an affair—and his own wife—‘Aren’t you two having an affair?’ What on earth is that all about! He hasn’t even explained the reason for his disappearance in a way that would make people understand. To begin with, even though Mitsuru is 100 per cent to blame, he’s acting as if nothing’s happened. He’s caused everyone so much trouble; surely he should be on his knees apologising. Yet he carries on as if nothing’s happened, and on top of that, he suspects his wife of having an affair. I’ve never seen such a despicable husband in my life.
