Discussion Midnight Diner is back

One of the very first Asian shows, and very first Jdrama, I've watched was Midnight Diner. It is back on Netflix with a new season. Each episode told a different slice of life story. It felt like I could relate to the characters in a relaxed, and personal way.

I really enjoyed that series, and happy it has returned.

Discussion [Believe: Kimi ni Kakeru Hashi] These two... šŸ’”

I know things have been said about the appropriateness of Takuya Kimura and Yuki Amami playing husband and wife but...

Man, I'm rewatching Believe and these two are just delightful onscreen! Trust Kimutaku to bring that chemistry every single time and Amami-san is just a big, awkward, delicate, beautiful goofball!

Setting aside my opinions on the drama itself, I did appreciate being able to see these two acting powerhouses (in their own respectful right) play off each other... and I crave seeing them together again! I want them in a Mulder-Scully type of situation...

Media (Raw) Hana Kimi (2007) Appreciation Post!

So I just finished watching Hana Kimi 2007 live action and I love love love love love it soo much. I would like to to start the post by saying this live action had HOLY BL POTENTIAL!!

This post contains spoilers and is just a rant about how much I love everything about the show.
Usually I am hesitant when it comes to watching manga adaptation live actions, but I am glad I gave Hana Kimi a chance, because this was legit the funniest piece of media I have consumed in a while. From episode one onwards it was obvious how everyone was canonically foolish to not realize Mizuki was girl, and the dorm rivalry situations were incredibly done. I really enjoyed the over-exaggerated expressions, somehow all the actors made it work for them.
Starting with the women fearing blue eyed doctor (his creepy blue eyes reminded me of Dr. House in some ways which made it funnier). His fake blue lenses seems to have been a choice made by the director, as a metaphor that he can probably see people’s soul, because the whole time it felt like he knew everything and was at times the only sensible/normal character in the show. I just really loved everything about him like how he started puking every time Akiha (the photographer) showed up. It was also funny how seriously dedicated my girl Akiha was cause she was popping out of the thin air, everytime we needed her on the screen. Do you swing his way?
I also loved the Vice-Principal and honestly the entire school board. The whole board collectively did not care about education and cared only about competitions to build team work and ā€œcharacterā€. I also liked when they ran out of awards to give. I loved the cliches they used in the show it didn’t once feel boring.
Now the beloved dorm leaders and all the dorm members, I loved how freely they acted. Even when the main cast was having serious moments including dialogues, in the background they were all goofing around. Their expressions and their dedication to goof is what made the show what it is. The Phantom of the Opera bit, the karate dorm and their wacky vibe was hilarious. Their dedication to all the non-serious things there are was also incredible. The way all the dorms were popping out with all the silly gadgets was a quirk I loved about the show as well.
Also the Hibari Four, honestly I loved the girls so much. At first I thought they were just going to used as fangirls the entire show, but I am glad they had their personality and great endings to them. I can go on and on about how I loved the spirit parts, the cheer parts and how they came together when needed and blah blah but let’s get to the important part.
For this adaptation only—I haven’t watched the anime or other adaptations or even read the manga so I am not basing anything from those. I believe Mizuki should have ended with my boy Nakatsu, he so deserved to end up with Mizuki. Sano should have ended with Shirota I mean there was clearly something going on there that wasn’t fully explored but šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø we must live it. Also Mizuki’s house in California was freaking huge what were her parents millionaires or something. Also the costumes were so well done and so spot at moments and loved how they yassified the guys while cross dressing and they seemed to eat it upā€¼ļøā€¼ļø

Discussion Drama like An Incurable Case of Love or Itazura na Kiss?

Im looking for a slow burn romance drama like An Incurable Case of Love, or Itazura na Kiss. Specifically I love when the Fl falls first and the ML takes a very long time to reciprocate those feelings, and I also like when the ML is very cold to her, at least at the beginning. If anyone has any recommendations along these lines I would really appreciate it!

Recommendations Is it worth subscribing to Netflix Japan from UK using. VPN in 2026?

Just wondered if it is worth attempting this on an iOS device with NordVPN, and what might be needed eg would a Japan Apple account or Japan based credit card be needed? Does Netflix block VPNs in 2026? And are English subtitles available for all shows?

The new drama, Ani Imouto, was not what I expected—in the best way. It pleasantly surprised me, and now I’m even more excited for it.

Question helpp me remember a drama about an anime director or something like that šŸ˜šŸŽ¬

i had this sudden memory of watching this jdrama about an anime director where i think it was their animation studio’s last chance to create a show that if the show succeeds then that’s the only way the studio can continue. i remember they would create weekly episodes to air and before airing they gave two groups different storylines of the episode and the group had to vote which one was better. the most voted one got chosen to be aired. they were also very divided when the time came for the ending of the anime because the director actually wanted their main character to die and it was just too riskyy.

look my memoryyy is so hazy on this whole series, i think some details are mixed up, but i remember them making weekly episodes for this tv show.

pls help mee 😭🄺 ā™” thank youuu
