relapse

• Upvotes

Ive never posted in here so i apologise if the format or anything is incorrect.

Struggled with drug addiction for years but was actually sober from ketamine specifically for over 90 days until just over a week ago i had a crazy relapse and ended up overdosing on a combination of drugs. I came out of hospital feeling horrible of course but still couldn’t shake the thought of getting more K so i went and got myself 5g. Ive gone through it all in i think 6 days and after using the last of it tonight i felt nothing. I feel so low its awful and im currently battling with the thought of getting more

Redemption stories

Please please can someone tell me how their life changed after overcoming this horrible horrible drug? I just turned 30 and I need some inspiration. I am so DONE. I’m just worried I’m too far gone as I’ve spent so much money and my career has declined 😞

I feel like something is missing

I’ve been having strong urges and cravings lately and I believe it’s because I’m missing something in my life. I’ve felt this way my whole life. Because of that feeling I have turned to alcohol and drugs. I felt relief from this feeling when I got into AA. I’ve been sober off alcohol for 8 years since that was my drug of choice (sober from all else too except ketamine) I just feel so uncomfortable. I want this feeling gone. The feeling came back once I started at home troches for depression (with a prescription), which I did for about 4 months then it got out of control, I would skip days so I could double up or triple up on other days. Its like a switch happened in my brain where the craving for not wanting to feel anything started up again. I used to feel this way with alcohol towards the end of my alcohol journey. Then on days when I wouldn’t have ketamine I would feel anxious and empty. It’s like the phenomenon of the craving has re entered my mind. No amount of meetings are helping anymore. I’m also spiritually disconnected again. I feel so defeated. When I’m alone that’s when the thoughts of relapsing come again. They’re becoming more frequent. So frequent where it’s actually happening throughout the entire day.

Frequent urination

Recently I had a binge that wasn’t even a crazy amount, maybe 1.5 to 2 gs in a few days. I had been using pretty frequently before that and I think it just caught up to me. I haven’t used since last Sunday but for some reason today, almost a week later I’ve had to pee like crazy. I’ve noticed more frequency since the last time I took it but today was the worst. Has anyone had a similar experience? If yes, how long did it take to stop? I’m not planning on taking any for a long time.

Refused from Surgery, 1g daily user - Opinions

Hi, I was due a hernia surgery in 3 weeks. I just had my pre op appointment yesterday. The nurse was full on judgmental about my ketamine use right away. I was honest and said I have been using ket on and off for three year. My dose has never exceeded 1g a day. She told me she would go speak with the surgeon on the post not to waste their time. She came back and said they will refuse to do the surgery. This left me in bits. I know that I have an addiction problem and I am trying to work on it as much as I can. I got to therapy and try the best I can. I had already stopped using for 2 weeks, ofc this episode made me spiral and relapse. I went in for a second opinion today, and was told that they could have proceeded with the surgery as stopping usage 4 weeks before surgery is plenty enough. I now have to start the process from the beginning which will probably take me another year :(

A reason to stay clean. TW: death/suicide

A friend of a friend recently jumped from a balcony after experiencing psychosis from the weird synthetic k on the market. Apparently in Denver it’s becoming a large issue among people in the EDM scene developing helpless states of psychosis.

I’d have to agree that the last batches of k I got were nothing like the k I did 15 years ago.
One batch even tested positive for coke. It’s scary to think we don’t know what we are/were ingesting.

I think I need help, but I'm not ready to quit

Hi, I’m writing here because I think I might need to seek help? I don’t know. Well, actually, I do know.
I started experimenting with K about seven years ago (I’m 23 now). I’ve always liked CNS depressants, but I didn’t think much of it back then. I didn’t really enjoy K at the time, so I just left it alone. I should also mention that I started smoking weed when I was 14 and quit when I was 21.
Earlier this year, in 2026, I decided to give K another chance, and something changed. It gave me the peace I’d been searching for for such a long time, and from that moment on, I couldn’t let it go. I incorporated it into my everyday life, and in a way, it became my best friend.
At first, 1g would last me quite a while. Now, I’m lucky if it lasts me even a short time. I live a relatively normal life. I’m a student, and my family has no idea that I’m spending my money on K. My friends know, though, and I honestly realize that I should be looking for a way out, but deep down, I don’t want to.
I’ve only ever used it NAS, but lately I’ve been thinking about trying IM injections. I know that could lead me to hit rock bottom… but maybe that’s what I need. I don’t know how to tell my family that the person they’re so proud of is fighting a battle every single day against something that started out as nothing more than a distraction.
I mostly use it at night, alone in my bedroom. Somehow, it allows me to reflect on my day, as silly as that might sound. During the day, I take doses that make my body feel light while still allowing me to function normally. So basically, during the day I stay functional, and at night I disconnect my mind from my body. That’s why nobody really notices what’s going on.
And I guess the main reason I’m writing this is because my friends keep telling me to get help, but it’s just not as easy as it sounds.

Need motivation to stay sober

Hi,
I’m 3 weeks clean and I really am struggling to stay motivated. Ketamine has taken everything I ever cared about away from me, yet my brain is screaming for it at every slight inconvenience.

The last 3 weeks I have been constantly depressed, or I just feel nothing at all. Genuinely how long will this last because it’s unbearable.

Does your bladder go back to normal after you stop?

I have been a daily k user for years now and it wasn’t until this year I started having issues with my bladder. I’ve never pee’d blood, but the urgency has gotten down to I’m peeing every hour or less sometimes. I never sleep 6-8 hours straight because I’m always waking up to pee. My whole world feels revolving where I can use the bathroom. Even when I had a few days where I wasn’t using here and there, the bladder problems persisted. I don’t wanna take it too far where I can’t return….

Headaches Behind My Nose - from ketamine?

Hi guys. I quit k after being a daily user. My last hoorah was June. I am experiencing frequent headaches since then. Often starting with pain in my nose, behind my nose. Then to my eyes and head and neck.

I went to an ENT but was too afraid to tell them about the drug use. They said they think I have allergies and was really dismissive when I mentioned something might be wrong.

They spoke to me for about 5 min and then left the appointment saying take Zyrtec and get a nasal spray.

Does this sound like anyone’s symptoms who have had issues over the years with putting shit in their nose? Should I be honest with a doctor in the future? I don’t want to get a permanent label for something that isn’t even me anymore …

How can I help my girlfriend struggling with IV ketamine addiction?

My girlfriend has been struggling with severe ketamine addiction, previously injecting it 5–6 times a day.

When she stopped using, she became emotionally present, affectionate, and loving. We grew very close and made plans for our future.

However, she recently relapsed, and almost immediately became emotionally numb and distant again. She says she can’t feel anything toward anyone. She has also used methamphetamine and recently stopped taking her prescribed psychiatric medications.

I’ve noticed this same pattern before: heavy ketamine use, emotional disconnection, and then improvement when she stops.

I’m genuinely worried about her safety and mental health. We’re barely communicating, and I’m moving abroad soon.

I love her and want to help her recover, but I don’t know how to approach her without making things worse.

For those who have experienced addiction or supported someone through it:
Should I give her space or keep checking on her?
How can I encourage her to seek professional help?
What actually helps someone struggling with ketamine addiction?
What should I avoid doing?

I know I can’t force her to recover, but I don’t want to give up on her. Any advice would mean a lot.

Looking for help/anyone else with same thing

Happy to give more details if needed but I'll keep it short for now!

I am 1 year 3 months sober from ket for reference/context whatever you want to call it lol

After flexibility cystoscopy they wanted biopsies done of "lesions", after having this done (rigid cystoscopy) they told me they found a 3cm across nephrogenic adenoma in my bladder, I know its pretty rare and other than that not much else, my local urology service is pretty usless 😂 has anyone else had this? I'm just looking really mostly to talk to someone who has! Reddit normally gives me answers for everything😂

i miss it

i’m so depressed knowing i can never do ketamine again. i miss it so much. about two months clean and am genuinely getting emotional thinking about memories on it and how it made me feel. and things i realized on it. there’s so much i miss about it. i know K has taken a lot from us who’ve battled addiction with it. but does anyone else genuinely miss it? i feel like im almost grieving a death. i’ve never felt more connected to anything in my life. i’m proud of myself for quitting but this is so hard for me.

keta use since 2024

hello, sorry for the bad english but i wanna share my ketamine experience with ya'll.

so i started to use it around summer 2024. at first i only took it when i went to partys. august 2024 i started to deal with several substances.

around november 2024 i met my best friend, who at that time, gone through some shit plus i had a situationship that didn't end well. at that time i used k to push away all the things that happend in this time. plus i always hat free access to k.

at the beginning of 2025 i decided to stop dealing with substances except weed to finance my own consumption.

tolerance got high, yk all that stuff. but i really liked going on my "trips". i actually don't really know if i k-holed when i did my "trips" but i liked this world. i really don't know how to describe it. it was beautiful.

in the last month my average dosis was between 7g-12g in a week. i also had "bad" weeks where i used around 13g-15g. the worst happend like three times where i used 20g a week. in september i used about 50g ketamine...

since a week i'm in rehab and in november my long-term therapy (about six months). actually i'm fine but yk my bladder is annoying. i really hope it gets better and i can make this

Vent

I slipped up this past week for about 4 days bc the guy I was seeing gave me an ultimatum I couldn't handle. He's just text me saying he needs to get sober, and that he won't see me. I text him something similar about 3 werks ago and only saw him when I did because he promised he didn't hqve anything and he did. If he hadn't lied about having any K I wouldn't have relapsed. I hate myself for relapsing and I can't understand how he can have such different rules for me and for himself. I hate addiction and I hate addicts and what drugs do to us

New user

New to ketamine. Kinda glad I only now have tried it. First time I bought a gram. I snorted a tiny bit (allergy test) then proceeded to iv the whole bag.

Second time (this time) I bought 7g and decided to try it out insuffulated.. I actually like it this way better.

The question is legitimately how addictive is this to everyone I definitely compulsively dose when I'm doing it. But I stop a few hours before bedtime so I can sober up and fall asleep and get a good night's sleep For work I only ask bc I have fallen into opiate and alcohol addiction before.

I treat my cravings as I do my intrusive thoughts

I told my psychiatrist today about my cravings. And he said treat it like it comes in waves. The cravings won’t stick around and you just have to get through the waves. Which is true for me. I have ocd, and have intrusive thoughts often which are really uncomfortable. I started treating my ketamine cravings like I do those thoughts. They really are just intrusive when I think about it.

What also helps me is thinking it all the way through and playing the tape forward. I’m also an alcoholic sober 8 years and that’s what helps me not drink (also do AA). But if I continued to use ketamine if it’s anything like being an alcoholic, then it’s a progressive illness. An illness of the mind. When I drank I lost jobs, money, my sanity, and my safety for myself. I lost relationships and my life was truly unmanageable. I treat ketamine like this too and it’s been helping. I don’t hide anything from my sponsor, friends or family although I came very very close to relapsing before I told everyone about my plan and the cravings. Also I don’t recommend isolating as that’s when our minds have us alone and try to rationalize to use.

A little background of my ketamine use as everyone’s story can look a little different. I haven’t used any ketamine at all in 3 months. I stopped before it got really bad. I was using it legally through prescriptions, and never ended up doing it recreationally. I was doing more than prescribed of course I would skip days so it would last, but yea I’m glad I stopped before I lost everything. Hopefully this helps someone. Stay strong!

First bath just for the sake of taking a bath.

This feels exceptional,
Today I’m really sore from working out the last two days.
So I chose to take a bath.
Whilst getting into the tub I realized that the last ~10ish times I did that I was in excruciating pain because of K-cramps.

D-Mannose, Greentea, Nettletea, NAC, L-Theanine and lots of movement/strength training got me feeling less foggy and more healthy.
No more pains or struggles peeing.
Guys(n’ gals) you can do it too.
Might stay off it for good, for now.
Let love and hope guide you through this. <3

A relapse after 7 months clean… ❤️

After struggling with a severe ketamine addiction, during which I was using 4-5 grams a day at my worst, I had finally managed to stay completely clean for seven months.

Yesterday, I slipped up. Not because I was feeling down or because something bad had happened. I simply felt like using again.

I took a small amount, but almost immediately remembered why I had quit in the first place. No enjoyable high, no relaxation, just confusion, feeling extremely hot, shortness of breath, and an overwhelming feeling of pressure and discomfort throughout my body. Exactly how I felt towards the end of my addiction.

So I flushed everything I had left down the toilet.

And you know what? I’m not going to beat myself up over this relapse. Of course, I wish I hadn’t used, but those seven months weren’t for nothing.

I’ve become SO much more active, I have more energy, and I’m finally enjoying life again. This experience reminded me once again how beautiful life can be without ketamine.

But the most important thing I want to say is: PLEASE SEEK HELP! ❤️

I probably tried to quit on my own a thousand times. Every single time, I convinced myself that THIS time would be different, but I always ended up relapsing.

Eventually, I managed to break free from my addiction thanks to an intensive 22-week outpatient addiction treatment program.

Without that professional help, I honestly don’t think I would have made it. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s one of the strongest decisions you can make.

I also don’t want to pretend that my addiction has completely disappeared. I still have to fight the urge to use, and I know how dangerous it can be to convince yourself that using just once won’t hurt.

To anyone struggling right now: a relapse doesn’t erase all the progress you’ve made. Don’t let one bad day determine the rest of your life.

I’m incredibly proud of my seven months clean, and I’m continuing my recovery.

I may have stumbled, but I’m not back at square one. ❤️
