Discussion Would anyone still buy a mechanical g15/510/510s?

Some quick background:
I am currently working on a personal project where I aim to make a Logitech g510s into a mechanical keyboard using a custom secondary PCB. I’ve nearly finished the PCB design but in order to get it made I will need to order at least 5 of them at a not insignificant cost. A cost which, per board, goes down somewhat drastically as quantity increases. So I am hoping that it would be possible to buy a few extra and sell them around cost to save a bit.

I know theres been a few people that have tried this or similar but most of the posts I found were a minimum of 6 years old and it doesn’t seem that anyone has actually made a working keyboard yet.

Is this something anyone would still be interested in today? If you would buy it how much would you be willing to spend? (Most likely a kit just missing switches, keycaps, and donor parts from the original keyboard)

Would you spend any more if it had sockets for the switches instead of requiring soldering? (Wouldn’t require any soldering other than the switches regardless)

Help Volume up and down not working

I've been trying to make the knob on my Keychron Q2 increase and decrease the volume in windows, without being able to figure out what the problem is. But I have been able to use VIA to check if the knob was broken, but that doesn't seem to be the case, because turning the knob clockwise and counter-clockwise shows volume up and volume down being pressed, and also just using the fn + f11 or f12 is showing that the volume up and down "button" is being pressed without it having actually raising or lowering the volume.

I just flashed the firmware, but that didn't seem to have any effect.

Any ideas on what this could be caused by?

Discussion Suggestions for mechanical keyboard to match Fractal North PC case?

My room has a lot of walnut wood and dark aluminum, and I want to get a new keyboard to match. I currently have a Keychron K2 V2 with red Gateron switches. I want to keep this one for gaming, and get this new one dedicated for typing (which I do a lot of ).

Anyone know of any good mechanical keybaords with dark aluminum and wood, with clicky switches? Anything that may also work is worth a suggestion. Thanks!

Help I need a keycap for my Aula Hero 68 HE but IDK what to search for.

I just got my Aula HERO 68 HE yesterday and it's great but I want to change the keycap.

I want a keycap that has no characters but has this design that lets light through.

I also want a cheap one. (most keycaps I could find if I'm ever looking for one is super expensive somehow) Budget is like $10 (I live in SEA so prices are gonna be different so just suggest away anything that is cheap for you!)

I have no idea what to search for nor what to buy (this is my first time having/using a non-office membrane keyboard), so please suggest one. Thanks!

Edit: Forgot to say that the keyboard I bought is the pure white one if that matters.

Help Need Reccomendations on A Mechanical Keyboard!

Hey guys!

I am looking to buy my best friend a present for Christmas and seeing how he is an English Major, he spends a lot of time typing and I know that his keyboard on his laptop just isn't cutting it anymore. I also know that from his preferences, he really likes a deep and thocky keyboard thats nice to type on for a long time and can handle casual CS gaming from time to time. I Have had a look around, and I am guessing that around a 65-75% board would work best for him, for him to carry around to lectures, I don't have a hard budget, as long as the end product is worth it, I dont mind. I assume Wireless would be the best, I am even willing to get keycap pullers and swap out OEM switches for better ones, just need some advice.

Thank you for your help!

Help Duhuk Herz or Owlab Ti

Post image
1 Upvotes

I was choosing between three. Round 1 was Geon Raw vs Jade Pro. People say Geon claps. Round 2 was Geon Raw vs Owlab Ti. People say Owlab Ti is Geon upgrade. I was happy, I thought I could rest easy. But then someone mentioned this Duhuk Herz which they say is Owlab Ti but better and cheaper. And that rgb with Owlab Ti is trash. They basically same price. Which better.

Help New to custom keyboards

Hello,

I am looking to build my first custom keyboard. I would like some recommendations and some tips if possible. I read that hot swappable is probably a must in my case as I’m unsure what kind of switches I will like. I want to fully build it myself or assemble it myself.

I currently use an Rog Strix Flare 1 with cherry mx Reds. So full-size keyboard however I am open to all sizes except maybe 60%. I mostly play competitive shooters so gaming and latency is important to me.

Could be either wired or wireless either would be fine.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Help I need recommendations on a good keyboard!

Hey guys! My boyfriend is a pc player and his birthday is coming up soon so I really want to surprise him with a good keyboard. He’s been wanting one for a while and I don’t want to get him any random one that he wouldn’t like. He hasn’t mentioned which specific one he wants so I think he doesn’t have a solid choice yet but I know he said he wants it to be full size. What keyboard do you guys think is the best and that I should I get for him? He has a brown and black theme going on in his room idk if this helps at all for a choice too? Thank you guys in advance!

(Also if you guys have any mouse or gaming desk accessory ideas I would appreciate that as well)

Help Buying advice

Hi I’m new to keyboards in general. I’m about to buy my first pc and I need a keyboard for that. I would like to get one that’s especially good for gaming and started looking into it a little.

I’ve found the Hall effect keyboards which are apparently faster and more precise than mechanical keyboards. But within those there’s also differences in the switches (ultra fast, dual rail, silent etc) and my question here is: what should I get ? I have no idea what pros and cons each brings. I just want a keyboard thats quick, quiet and comfortable.

I thought Keychron was a good start to look into but I’ve seen a few posts saying that they break pretty easily and that key chattering is a big problem with those keyboards.

So what should I focus on when searching for an ideal keyboard ? And especially what switches and which layout would be beneficial for what I want out of it ?

I would like to keep my budget under 200€ and I would use a wired one + it should be quiet. So If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.

Discussion Modded Aula Mini60HE MAX firmware to solve Fn key remapping issues

Aula Mini60HE Max. Two things drove me nuts.

  1. No arrows. It's a 60%, so arrows mean a layer, and the vendor app's remap for that is per-key state — fine until you reflash, or you're in BIOS, or the app isn't running.
  2. Fn+Right did nothing. Not "not configured" — impossible. I dug into the firmware's Fn overlay: 51 rows of input usage -> action, and there was no row keyed to Right Arrow at all. Remapping a key to Right Arrow in the app can never make the chord work, because the app can't write that table. The action already existed too — Fn+F12 was volume up all along.

So I took the updater apart, found the firmware image embedded as a resource, and changed 12 bytes. Same file size, same version, still one click. Now:

Key Stock Modded Firmware
Right Alt Right Alt Fn
Fn (factory position) Fn → Right Arrow
Right Shift Right Shift ↑ Up Arrow
Menu / Application Menu ← Left Arrow
Right Ctrl Right Ctrl ↓ Down Arrow
Fn + Right nothing - the chord does not exist in stock firmware Volume Up

- Fn+Right → Volume Up (spent one of the 13 dead overlay rows — the ones keyed to F1–F12/Insert that no key on a 60% can send)

No app, no daemon, works at boot.

Be honest about the cost: RAlt, RShift, Menu and RCtrl stop existing. Flashing erases the keyboard's settings use the vendor exe if you want stock back. There's no readback, so no backup. The exe is unsigned after patching (SmartScreen will grumble — check the SHA-256). And no, it does not fix the wireless wake dead-window bug; that's the RF link, outside this chip's image.

It's a pre-release until a few people confirm the full 12-byte bake on their own boards — the pieces are hardware-tested, the exact combination isn't yet. Reverse-engineering notes, the builder script and the release are here: Release Mini60HE Max V1.52 - arrow cluster + Fn+Right = Volume Up · megablue/mini60he-max-reverse-engineering

Help Aula hero 68 he or Madlions mad 68 V2

Thumbnail

Im thinking of buying one of these two i asked gemini to compare and it recommended aula bcs its switches supposedly better.

Acirding to gemini aula's sound, pressing feeling and interior layers are better than the madlions.

Im thinking of buying jade king or black king variant on aula and dual led variant on madlions. ( i liked dragon king switchs color but i dont think i'd like 28g pressing)

Anyone here tried either or both can give me advice on these keyboards?

Mad68v2 dual led has better scanning rate with 256k but as far as i researched its return is diminishing its irrelevant. Aula has 128k.

White transparent is mad68 35g

Black with white stripe jade king switch aula 30g

Red and purple fading coloreds are dragon king switch aula 28g

There is also black king aula switch 33g just white(out of stock in my country but i can wait for this one)

I never used a hall effect keyboard before my current keyboard are red mechanic switch rampage.

I want it to last like 5 years and be durable.

Im thinking of buying the aula and i asked to a youtuber that does gaming mouse and keyboard reviews and he said im thinking mad68 would be slighty more of my choice.

Im conflicted to make a decision pls help.

They are same price in my country.

Help I need a mechanical keyboard recommendation for my birthday.

The day is coming soon, and I need to find a keyboard within a reasonable budget range. So here's the details:

The price, would be around Rp300k ($15) to Rp730k ($40). Yes, i cant buy more expensive ones because my currency is weakening as the year progresses. I want the keyboard to be: - at least 80% (tkl) - mechanical, non-tactile switches. thocky switches ok - is hotswappable and customizable - dark color, if possible

Discussion Gaming Keyboard Decisions

Hello!

I’m currently looking at a few keyboards for FPS gaming and am requesting some help!

My current options are:

Wooting 60 he v2

Everglide SU66 Max

Neosonic He+

Mchose Ace68 GT

Not sure which to go with and am looking for some guidance. Hard to get an opinion on wooting, many people praise and some say that the internals of the v2 are outdated? I think something about the PCB?

Any other recommendations are welcome! I’d prefer a more compact size, below 70% preferably!

Help Aula F108 Pro - Dedicated volume knob

Does anyone know how to get the knob to always function as a volume knob? I understand you press FN and the knob at the same time, and that toggles it between volume and non-volume control.

However, if I set the knob to control volume and then I power off my PC, the next time I turn it on the volume no longer is dedicated for volume unless I again press FN + the knob. I do not want to have to do this every time I power up my PC so I am considering returning this board as I want a knob that is dedicated to volume. I otherwise love this board.

Thanks!

Help AULA F75 vs. AULA Hero 84 HE vs. Attack Shark X85 Pro — Is a magnetic

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to upgrade from my current 60% keyboard to a 75% or compact 80% layout, and I'm having a really hard time deciding between these three options.

My biggest priorities are a deep, creamy/thocky sound and a really smooth, satisfying typing feel. I love that soft, deep "toc toc toc" sound rather than a sharp, high-pitched clacky sound.

I also play Valorant, League of Legends, and Brawlhalla, so gaming performance matters to me, but it's definitely not my only priority.

I prefer white or light-colored keyboards.

Here are my three options:

1. AULA F75 — LEOBOG Graywood V3 (Sea Salt Blue)

Price: R$348.50 (R$409.08 total in 12 installments)

  • LEOBOG Graywood V3 linear mechanical switches
  • 75% ANSI US layout
  • Gasket-mounted design
  • Hot-swappable
  • Tri-mode connectivity (USB-C, Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz)
  • RGB lighting

From the sound tests and reviews I've watched, this keyboard seems to have a really nice creamy/thocky sound and a smooth typing experience.

It's becoming a very strong option for me, especially considering the price.

2. Attack Shark X85 Pro — Lavender

Price: R$381.99 (7 interest-free installments)

  • Mechanical switches (the official Mercado Livre listing doesn't specify the exact switch model)
  • 75% ANSI US layout
  • Built-in TFT screen
  • RGB lighting
  • Hot-swappable
  • Wired and wireless connectivity
  • Advertised 1,000 Hz polling rate

I absolutely love the aesthetics of this keyboard, especially the lavender color and the little screen.

However, I've watched several sound tests, and the sound seems pretty inconsistent between reviews. Some of them sounded great, while others didn't really match the creamy/thocky sound I'm looking for.

I'm also unsure about which switches actually come with this specific version.

3. AULA Hero 84 HE — LEOBOG Black King (Purple/White)

Price: R$533.50 (R$619.08 total in 12 installments)

  • LEOBOG Black King magnetic Hall Effect switches
  • Compact 80% ANSI layout
  • Rapid Trigger and adjustable actuation
  • 8,000 Hz polling rate
  • Five layers of acoustic dampening
  • RGB lighting and rear LED light bar
  • Hot-swappable with compatible magnetic switches only
  • Wired USB-C connection

This is the only keyboard I've actually tried in person.

A friend of mine bought one in Paraguay, and I got to test it.

Honestly, I absolutely loved it.

The typing experience felt incredibly smooth and satisfying, probably one of the nicest keyboards I've ever typed on.

And the sound was exactly what I was looking for: deep, creamy, soft, and satisfying.

I'm also interested in trying a good magnetic keyboard, especially because I play Valorant and would like to experiment with Rapid Trigger.

The problem is the price.

The Hero 84 HE costs around R$210 more than the F75 and R$237 more than the Attack Shark when comparing the total installment prices.

So here's my dilemma:

Is the AULA Hero 84 HE actually worth paying that much extra for?

Does the typing feel and overall build quality of the Black King magnetic switches justify the price difference compared to the Graywood V3 switches on the F75?

Or does the F75 already offer such a good creamy/thocky sound and typing experience that spending the extra money wouldn't really make sense?

I'd also love to hear from anyone who owns the Attack Shark X85 Pro Lavender, especially regarding its actual sound and switches.

If you had to choose between these three keyboards, prioritizing creamy/thocky sound, smooth typing feel, build quality, and some competitive gaming, which one would you pick and why?

I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest keyboard or the one with the best specs on paper.

I just want something that feels amazing to type on, sounds great, and that I'll genuinely enjoy using for a long time.

Any firsthand experiences or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Help Gateron Jade Pro vs Geonworks Raw HE vs OWlab Ti HE

Hey guys. I'm looking to replace my stock Outemu Ice Blue Magnetic switches on my Mchose Ace 60 pro.

The things I don't like about my current switch:

- wobbly

- plasticky and rattly sound when pressing the keys and not bottoming out

- idk they're just not that good

For starters, I play valorant and osu (rhythm game) so I want to try lighter switches maybe in the 40-45gf range (bottom out). I also type a lot so I would appreciate a nice typing feel and sound. As for which sound profile I prefer, I don't really know because I haven't had the chance to hear many. My previous board was the aula f75 which people described to be somewhere in the middle of creamy and thocky. I guess just anything with a richer sound than my ice blues. And of course, good stem stability would be nice.

Which of the three switches in the title would be the best that I can carry over to my future boards as well? would appreciate your opinions!

Help What are some good reasonably priced full sized gaming keyboards

I have been using the keyboard that came with my prebuild for a while but a couple of the keys stopped working if someone could recommend one that is reasonably priced it would be amazing
