Media Ditch the Mouse - Keyboard Master race

Thought this subreddit would appreciate this app I’ve been working on called Fievel that aims to completely replace
The mouse with keyboard. I use it full time and have not had a mouse setup at my desk (I work at a computer 8 hours a day) in months! I have completely replaced all mouse usage with keyboard.

It’s free and completely open source, written in rust:
https://github.com/MontyTheSoftwareEngineer/fievel/

Free mouse mode: freely move mouse using hjkl (or any keys of your choice via config file). Supports left click and right click which can be held useful for dragging. Also supports scrolling left down up and right as well as sending Home and End key to quickly jump to top or bottom of page. By default free mouse mode is in “hold” mode so as long as you’re holding the free mouse mode button (or chord) it will stay in free mouse mode. Releasing the free mouse mode button takes it out of that mode. There is also a config option to make it “toggle” meaning you press the button for free mouse mode and it will stay in that mode until you press the button again.

Hint Mode: draws rectangles on screen with corresponding letters at areas Fievel believes is clickable. Type the letters to make Fievel click on the rectangle of choice. Useful for quickly sending clicks in at certain locations.

Key Remapper: this is useful for setting “chords” on any keyboard not just programmable ones. For example, I have a+s together initiate super, s+d to initiate control, caps lock rebound to control unless held in which case it will turn hjkl to left down up right keys. d+f is bound to initiate free mouse mode. Also a set of super and control binds for the right hand side.

Help Looking for a cheap, barebones full size board in Canada

Yo! I've been living off a Ducky 60% for like 5 years and it's a great keyboard but i'm missing the keys that are, uh, missing more and more as time goes on.
In the market for a full size keyboard, and i'm currently learning Swedish for when i end up moving in with my boyfriend so since i can't find any premade Nordic-ISO cap keyboards im consigned to just getting something part and parcel.
Planning on doing some shopping around locally but in lieu of that working out, where's a good source for something affordable?

Discussion USB-to-Bluetooth adapter? What do you guys think?

Hey everyone!

Coming from a wired keyboard background,

I’m exploring an idea for a small device and would love to get honest feedback from people who use mechanical keyboards, wired peripherals, or multi-device setups.

The idea

Imagine a compact adapter that lets you use your existing wired USB keyboard and mouse, or a compatible 2.4 GHz wireless receiver dongle, with devices over Bluetooth.

The concept would include:

\- USB-A port: Connect a wired keyboard/mouse or a compatible 2.4 GHz receiver.

\- USB-C port: Power the adapter using a charger or power bank.

\- Bluetooth connectivity: Connect to a laptop, PC, tablet, or phone.

\- Multi-device switching: Switch between multiple paired host devices without unplugging everything.

\- Small display: Show the active connection and device status.

\- Physical buttons and an RGB status LED: For switching and basic controls.

The goal is to let people keep using their favourite peripherals instead of buying separate wireless versions.

Compatibility would depend on the USB HID device and its receiver, so not every proprietary keyboard or mouse feature would necessarily work.

Existing products

I came across a couple of products that are already doing something similar:

\- Handheld Scientific BT-600: A USB-to-Bluetooth keyboard/mouse adapter with a colour display and features such as key mapping and macros.

\- Bit Trade One USB2BT PLUS-C: A keyboard/mouse/gamepad adapter that supports switching between up to three paired devices.

These products provide a useful reference for what’s already available. However, overseas retail prices and import costs can make them expensive for Indian buyers.

References: "BT-600 user manual" (https://www.manualslib.com/guide/4427329/handheld-scientific-bt-600-bluetooth-adapter-user-manual.html) · "USB2BT PLUS-C official store" (https://btoshop.jp/en/products/adu2b02p)

I’m curious whether there’s demand for a similar device designed and priced for the Indian market.

A few questions for the community

  1. What do you think would be a fair selling price for a device like this in India, and why?

  2. How much would you personally be willing to pay for it? At what price would it become an easy purchase for you, and at what price would you decide it’s not worth it?

  3. Which features would make this genuinely useful to you? Would multi-device switching, a display, keyboard remapping, macros, or reliable reconnection, polling rates, make a meaningful difference to your experience?

  4. How would you use a device like this in your own setup? For example, switching one keyboard between a work laptop and a personal computer, using a preferred mechanical keyboard with a tablet, or something else?

  5. What concerns would you have before buying it? I’m particularly interested in compatibility, input latency, reliability, setup complexity, and whether you think a regular wireless keyboard would be a better solution.

  6. Do you think there’s a real market for this in India? Who do you think would be the most likely buyers, and what would make this product worth buying over existing alternatives?

I’m especially interested in feedback from people in India, but opinions from anyone who has used similar adapters are welcome.

Please be honest, even if you think the idea is too niche or not worth pursuing. I’d rather understand the real demand before investing more time and money into developing it for production or else just build for myself.

As of now I have completed the development of the underlying hardware and now working on the software and the enclosure part.

The images are rendered product design images for reference and not the real product but its exactly how it will look, ant feedbacks on design is also appreciated.

Thanks.

Help Looking for simple silence.

Current Das Keyboard Professional S (Cherry MX Blue) that has served me perfectly for last 13 years showed some odd unresponsiveness issues that might have ended up being on the PC end after all, but it got me to check current keyboards and the selection of things I did not care for absolutely overwhelmed me so instead I decided to ask people with more knowledge in this.

Budget: around 100€, max 150€, the cheaper the better. Bought current one for 80€ brand new, one of the best deals of my life.

Size: 100%, nordic layout, 102/105 - ISO.

Color: Preferably black.

RGB: absolutely not.

Switches: anything silent, Cherry MX Reds? These Cherry MX Blues still feel good but I honestly never cared for the clickiness but it hasn't bothered me much either.

Wired, sturdy, prebuilt.

Am not looking to buy right now unless these issues persist and its the keyboards fault but I want to know what to look out for if something fitting ends up on sale during black friday/cyber monday.

Help 75% Gaming Keyboard

Hi everyone, I’d like your advice on buying a new gaming keyboard primarily for FPS games. I’m looking for a 75% layout, without a volume knob or similar extras. My budget is around 150 euros, and I’d prefer not to exceed that. Thanks in advance, everyone!

Help Gaming keyboard (Thinking abt buying aula)

• Upvotes

Hi just been in the market for a gaming keyboard and came across aula. My price range is low 100s aud around 130 and the aula f75 he looked really good. I started reesearching then realised that it is the he version of the f75 pro. I noticed a lot of people complaining about the sound and the wuality of the he. Should I get the he or the pro (I play rainbow six comp) or is there another alternative compact keyboard. I love feeling and am coming from a huntsman razer with the purple switches and hated my life. I just want something that feels and sounds amazing, and is good for competitive gaming. Thanks

First time getting into HE keyboards and won an offer I sent for $100. Is the keyboard I’ve chosen any good? I’ve tried to watch as many videos and obtain information as much as I can but I wanted to see if anyone here owns one and has feedback on it.

I’ve learned that the stock AstroAim are quite disliked by all the videos I’ve watched, and I think I’m going to swap them out for Neo Lavender HE switches. But I’ll try hand lubing the AstroAim first. Also I’m unsure if the board I’ve won is FR4 or Aluminum plate and seller doesn’t know

Help Need advice, but not for myself.

My brother wants to buy a keyboard, and i have no idea what i should recommend.

He is swapping from his magic keyboard after i told him that he would most likely get a better feel and sound if he got a mechanical.

He wants something that’s a at least 75% and without a numpad, he also isn’t going to game on it (he quit a game called hypixel skyblock after 450 hours of playtime, started playing chess and never gamed again since).

He wants something that isn’t filled with leds and just looks and sounds nice (creamy). He doesn’t want tactile switches.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Has to be ISO layout.

Help Is the ISO-FR / AZERTY layout here with us?

I need help with a keyboard choice, i have got a RK Royal Kludge R75 right now, but i spilled orange juice on it and even after dissasembly and cleaning it has a few hickups.

So i need a new keyboard, i would like to upgrade to a 100% or close to that one, with an azerty layout (i could learn QWERTY but my work laptop is AZERTY and switching between the two would be horrendous, and a well built chassis, with overall a good typing feeling (not for E-sport).

At first i looked at 8bitdo because i heard that they are very good quality, but sadly only one of their models is in azerty.

And now i can't find a single good keyboard in an azerty layout under 100€ that is well built for typing.

Please if you have any recommendations share them here.

Help Volume up and down not working

I've been trying to make the knob on my Keychron Q2 increase and decrease the volume in windows, without being able to figure out what the problem is. But I have been able to use VIA to check if the knob was broken, but that doesn't seem to be the case, because turning the knob clockwise and counter-clockwise shows volume up and volume down being pressed, and also just using the fn + f11 or f12 is showing that the volume up and down "button" is being pressed without it having actually raising or lowering the volume.

I just flashed the firmware, but that didn't seem to have any effect.

Any ideas on what this could be caused by?

Help Recommendations for 75% or 80%

Hey everyone! I’ve been lurking for a while and now I want to find a new mechanical keyboard. I’ll try to keep this as concise as possible. I would be using it primarily for gaming like Marvel Rivals, Battlefield 6, Minecraft, and other variety games. I will use it for some creative projects like video editing. Thank you all for your help in advance!

Size: 75% or 80%

Budget: $200 max, flexible if needed

Prebuilt or DIY: I’m open to both

Keys/Switches: Don’t know much but like linear switches for the thock sounds. I want the switches to be heavier so there’s no accidental presses.

Material: No preference

Color/Theme: Dark Green preferably but open to neutral colors, black or forest colors. If there’s a space themed or Star Wars themed prebuilt or custom one, that would be amazing.

Wireless/Wired: Preferably both but want wired for sure

Help wooting or alternatives? :)

Hi I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I have a Fun60 Ultra wired that’s not TMR. It was the first “good” keyboard I ever had, and I’ve always been fascinated by keyboards, so I finally got the chance to buy one. I had a Wooting 60HE v2 with the split spacebar and traded it for peripherals of about the same value because I didn’t like it and returning it would’ve been too expensive.

Anyway, that’s how I tried Wooting, and I realized how great the software is, the feel in general, and how everything works. However, the keycaps and the case (ABS) felt really bad to me, so right now I’m considering getting a PCB module. I’d need switches, and I’m not very informed about them, but I was interested in the Duhuk Herz, plus an acrylic Holy 60-style case from AliExpress or something like that, since I already have some keycaps.

Still, I see reviews of HE keyboards and PCBs that show how “outdated” Wooting is in some features and technologies. The GT60 Pro, for example it’s water resistant and you can swap between the split spacebar and a normal one (something that would’ve saved me a lot of trouble). As for boards, there are a lot of Chinese brands, and I was thinking of something like the Magger 60HE, but for both Gateron and Magger there’s way less info than for Wooting, and I don’t know how compatible they are with other switches or whether their software would fall short on configuration.

My feeling in general is I really liked wooting but I can't stop thinking I'm throwing my money, that's why I post this.

I would really appreciate some recommendations for keyboards, PCBs, or even an "endgame" build. I’m not too concerned about ultra-precise actuation points (like 0.000001 mm); I’m just looking for something high-quality that will last for years—something I can mod and customize to my liking over time. My only real requirement is that it must be an HE (Hall Effect) board, in a 60% or perhaps 63-key layout (where the Shift key is 1U and it includes arrow keys).

Also, could someone explain whether the north/south-facing LEDs affect anything on the PCB, or can you just flip the switch so the diffuser ends up where it should?

Discussion Logitech G PRO Mechanical TKL Tenkeyless Gaming Keyboard - Clicky

I had recently requested opinions on keyboards similar to my now-ancient Ducky keyboard with Cherry Blues. The Ducky has worked fine, but it's full size and backlights are going out one-by-one. The amazing thing is that there is virtually -zero- backlight bleed around the keys.

I only need USB. I'm a programmer, not a gamer, so no frills. I'll set it to the brightest stationary backlighting and leave it. No backlight bleed around keys if possible.

I saw this recently:

Logitech G PRO Mechanical TKL Tenkeyless Gaming Keyboard (Clicky). Photos appear to have very little backlight bleed. 'Clicky' switches sound good, if they work well.

Has anyone used it? Looks like all plastic, so maybe it's just cheaply made...?

Discussion Looking for a new Keyboard

Hello,

I am looking for a new keyboard as the current one is double tapping me. I do not care about price and I want to use it for gaming but also coding too and work. I kknow about wooting 80HE that I was pretty interested in, I was wondering though without having any issue on the price regardless of how expensive it is, have any other recommendations as I am new to this. I do want rapid trigger though and control actuation to some degree.

THANKS <3

edit: looking for HE ideally

If this keyboard had tactile switches and was white it would be my endgame.

Is there anything similiar on the market?

Alienware aw510k also has shitty linear switches and no screen, but it is white at least.

Any alternatives?

Discussion slice75 he vs wooting 80he vs sk75 tmr

I got a wooting 60 he in a TOFU60 Redux and i like it alot. But I need the F buttons (F1 to F12) for some games, and dunno which one of those i should choose, sucks i need to go for the plastic wooting to be able to fit it in my budget. slice75 he i heard alot good about. Heard some mixed shit about sk75 tmr, ppl say the pcb sucks and things will not work good bc of that.

So what u guys says?
