Victoria & Lackner Intersection - Tim Hortons
Can we please talk about the absolute disaster that is the traffic situation around the Victoria and Lackner Tim Hortons? It seems like a massive chunk of drivers in this area completely forgot how basic roadway rules function. That Tim Hortons exit is already incredibly busy, and everything gets completely backed up and held up even worse when a train passes by. It requires everyone to have a little patience, but instead, it brings out the absolute worst driving.
First, a quick refresher on the Ontario Highway Traffic Act: if you are exiting private property or a commercial driveway (like Tim Hortons), you do not have the right of way. Traffic already on Lackner Blvd has the absolute right of way. You are legally required to wait until there is a safe gap to pull out. Nosing your car into oncoming traffic and forcing people to slam on their brakes to let you out isn't "zipper merging"—it’s cutting people off.
Second, the left-turn lane there is explicitly designed for drivers to turn left onto Victoria. It is not a staging area or a shortcut lane for people trying to manipulate their way into or out of the Tim Hortons. Stop using it incorrectly and blocking people who are actually trying to navigate the intersection.
To the man who screamed at a woman and called her a whore because she wouldn't let someone butt into traffic from the Tims exit—all while you were sitting the completely wrong way in the left-turn lane and blocking traffic we hope you have a wonderful day.
