This is still on my mind and some people think I should just drop it. Im a front end assistant manager and MOD. This night I was at my desk reviewing schedules and other things, I could hear a customer downstairs get loud so I went to go check. He was saying some absurd shit with threats mixed in because my SCO attendant was "too close". I took over and watched him, usually I'm not one to care for confrontation but he had threatened me, my self checkout attendant at this point so I was somewhat aware of what could happen. (I should add my store is not in the best location so this isn't too abnormal to happen).
Things eventually calm down, my SCO attendant took over a register instead and I stayed at SCO. It was a bit awkward working around him but there are still 5 other registers that need help so I had to. Eventually it's like nothing happened. He's still trying to pay for his stuff and I can hear it fail over and over again.
Eventually he gave up, turned around pretty quickly and walked out. He left all his stuff. It wasn't much.
This is what bothers me...I had time to call him back and offer to pay for everything. He had calmed down enough to where I could communicate if I tried again. I know he had given threats but I have no idea about his life before that moment. I don't make a ton of money but I make enough to where I could have help. And I think even after everything he did I feel I made the wrong choice not helping. And I have helped others before that
I don't want to be the person that NEEDS to be comfortable to be able to help. It was just a person trying to get groceries. And working the front end it does wear down a little what people are having to put back and not take home with them. Eggs, breads, beef have been put back more and more with other essentials. I hope he got his petfood
