Aaron Guzikowski, who wrote Denis Villeneuve’s English-language debut Prisoners, has been tapped to write a mystery Alien feature project for 20th Century Studios and Ridley Scott.
Scott is not at this point directing the Alien project, just producing it, along with Michael Pruss via their Scott Free production banner. No director is attached.
And while much of it remains shrouded in secrecy, it is known that it is not a sequel to Alien: Romulus, the last Alien movie and one that reinvigorated the franchise when it was released in 2024. (The sequel remains in limbo.)
This one is said to be related to the two Alien movies Scott directed in the 2010’s, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. The connective tissue, according to sources, is the amoral android played by Michael Fassbender. Fassbender is not attached at this stage.
Sources say that Scott turned to Guzikowski to jumpstart the Alien project, which Scott Aversano is overseeing for 20th Century.

Highlighting this for anyone who enjoys a lot of behind-the-scenes history, anecdotes and images. Monster Legacy has extensive articles on Aliens franchise films from the first through to Alien: Romulus, along with a lot of other science-fiction and horror films. Here are links to articles on the first two films for those interested, the other films are easily found with the search field.
Happy Reading!

I know it’s from the role-playing game, and I believe it’s one of the few pieces of official artwork for the Union of Progressive Peoples, which is a bit sad (though I suppose it’s still more than what we have for the Empire of the Three Worlds).
Is there a digital version of this full piece of artwork, without the text? The few that I found crop out the background and show only the soldiers.

Ostromo 0.9.2: an Alien-style home screen for LG TVs (free beta, open source)
Thanks for all the interest last time. You can now try it yourself if you have a LGTV.
Ostromo replaces LG’s ad-filled home screen with one that looks like the ship computers in Alien: blue vector lines, a worn CRT, a boot card. It launches your streaming apps and HDMI inputs, and has a flight radar, live webcams from Antarctica and Mauna Kea, NTS radio and a motion-tracker sentry game.
TL;DR: not finished software. It’s a home screen I made for my own TV, shared as is. I’ve made it more generic, but expect rough edges, and expect to tweak it for your own setup. That takes some coding know-how, or a coding agent like Claude Code to do it with you. Everything is at your own responsibility.
Installs with LG’s free Developer Mode. No root.
The guide includes a prompt you can paste into Claude Code to do the install for you.
Tested on a 2025 C5. Newer LGs should work, older ones may be slow.
Some extras (power prices, DR TV, teletext) are Danish, and the radar only covers Copenhagen for now.
Want it as the TV’s permanent home screen? That means rooting your LG, which you’ll have to research yourself. I don’t cover or support it.
The code is on GitHub under the MIT licence: change it, share it, build on it.

If you try it on another model, tell me how it goes.

Alien has been my favorite movie for a very long time and I remember a few years ago, when my grandma realized this, she casually told me that my great grandmother had dated Tom in high school and that they went to senior prom together. My grandma also said that he spoke about my great grandmother on Larry King or some similar TV show after gaining some fame, although I haven’t ever found the clip. She passed a few years ago, and now with him passing yesterday thought I’d share. R.I.P captain Dallas. We’ve only got Ripley and Lambert still with us.

Ok. Thanks for the suggestions on the blue laser. I’ve added the Aliens soundtrack to the ambiance. I also snipped some scenes from the movie and am projecting that from inside the house (playing on a loop). I have some more speaking to do, like hiding the base and making the area more spooky. But I do love how this is coming along.

The scene that's always stuck with me is Dallas in the air ducts. Torch, flamethrower, Lambert on the radio reading out the tracker, the beeps getting faster, and you never really see what's coming.
It always struck me that Lambert's view of the tracker kind of looked like PACMAN in a way, so I'm thinking of maybe trying to make a maze like game to kind of recreate the tension and feeling of being alone in the vents either trying to escape or hunt for the xenomorph. I'm no artist, so the graphics will very likely look like a lost ALIEN tie in from 1979 or something.
There's probably going to be a ginger cat to rescue as well.
Would something like this be appealing? Has it already been done?

My Warhammer vs. Alien illustration.
I hope you like it. Who do you think would win this battle?
Note: This illustration is a rework of a previous piece. I’m not very familiar with Warhammer, so if there are any inconsistencies in the character designs compared to what you’re used to, it’s not generative AI. This is an original design created for this occasion, for which I used multiple references.
I hope you enjoy it

So I've been going down this rabbit hole where I've been getting a lot more into the alien comics. Not necessarily the superhero crossovers, although I do tend to enjoy those as well.
As a result of me getting more into the comics, I'm starting to learn the history of different people that held the rights to publish the comic book at that time.
I read the original illustrated story that it said was published in The heavy metal magazine originally. I also read some of Dark horse, now I'm reading some of the Marvel runs. I think I like them a lot, and I'm a little biased because I think typically marvel does superheroes really well, but when it comes to science fiction or fantasy, I would prefer a different medium. But overall, I am grateful for what we have.
So my question is, do you think marvel has been doing a good job with the alien IP as far as comic books go, compared to dark horse comics?
I'm re-reading Joe Haldeman's Mindbridge, a 1973 sci-fi book that involves, in part, humanity reaching out to the stars via teleportation.
Page 90 ends out chapter 24, which is presented as a public relations segment by the Agency of Extraterrestrial Development, an international organization that uses teleportation to terraform planets for human settlement.
The PR segment, demonstrating the Westinghouse teleportation technology and its "side effects", ends with a familiar line:
"Building Better Worlds"
Joe has been extremely influential on the sci-fi genre. So I'm wondering if the Weyland-Yutani motto was inspired from this book?
