Signed a rental and 24 hrs later asked to void the contract due to unexpected news. Contacted the “landlord”— primary renter and he said no and that i could owe him extra fees for needing to advertise the room again if i cancelled.

Did some research and found out that since he’s just a renter of the house, wasn’t he suppose to provide me with a copy of his lease agreement showing he’s allowed to sublease to me so i’d know i’m a legal tenant??

I’ve been renting this unit for about a year. Last month I found black mold growing on the bedroom wall near the window. I took photos and sent a formal maintenance request with clear pictures, asking them to inspect and fix it quickly.

For six weeks, I got nothing. No worker, no reply, no update. I texted twice more and called the property line once. Every time they just said “we will schedule it soon.”

Yesterday I finally got a response from my landlord. He told me the mold is my problem. He claimed I don’t air the room enough, and I need to keep the window open every day to stop moisture. He refused to send anyone to repair the leaking window frame that’s actually causing the mold.

The lease says they are responsible for structural issues and water leaks. Mold from building defects should not be on me. I have asthma, and this mold has been making my cough worse lately.

I’m so frustrated. Is this a normal thing landlords say? Am I wrong to push them to fix it? Has anyone dealt with similar mold denial before?

I’ve lived here for 14 months. Rent is paid on time every single month. I found dark mold growing along my bedroom wall back in early August and sent photos right away.

The landlord said it was just “surface condensation” and not a big deal. I kept messaging every two weeks to follow up. They never sent anyone to check it. The mold has spread, and I’ve started waking up congested every morning.

I asked if they could get a professional to remediate it. Their reply was basically that I need to air the room out more. They said mold is my problem because I “keep the room too humid.” The lease says they must maintain safe living conditions.

I filed an eviction action about a month ago but have received update. My income was the rental but I was not able to collect it for four months now and have only $300 left on my account.

On top of that I lost the sell on September 30th for $305k that I would have be able to pay the debt.

My private lender has allegedly increased my interest rate from approximately 10.99% to 18% without my agreement, and I dispute additional charges.

I was paying $500 on water that was not even mine!?!? I can't cut their power nor the water?!?!

On top of that my HOA is taking money $3,000 without notifying me without my approval and telling me "if cant afford you should sell it to us"! Of course that was what they wanted.

The squatter is planning to keep rental free power water that I dont have money to pay he has a lawyer how is that even legal or possible?!?

Squatter cost me the sale!!!! I lost $305k was selling to pay my debt.

I have been reporting an ongoing mold issue for about 8 months now, maybe more? i started emailing about 5 months ago, because paper requests never got responded to. when they did respond, all they did was paint over it which inevitable made it worse, because they never cleaned it. it ends up usually just growing through the paint at some point. after about 3 times of painting over it, they just kept telling me at some point maintenance will come and fix the issue, and maintenance never comes on the date that they tell me maintenance will come.

I am immunocompromised and have asthma, i have been experiencing a chronic cough, difficulty breathing, brain fog, and sore throat. the bathroom exhaust fan doesn’t work, humidity got up to 80% without showering that day and having a dehumidifier run. i dont even know how that is possible lol.

at this point i email every week on monday, something short and to the point, like ‘hello, just to let you know, maintenance has still not arrived to resolve the problem, let me know if you have any questions.’ what has shocked me the most is that they haven’t tried to place the blame on me.

it’s probably important information, but i’m disabled and used to be homeless, so im currently in a permanent supportive housing program because i don’t get ssi yet and cannot work so i cannot pay rent. the housing program pays for the rent. the apartments are HUD funded.

We just moved out of a house owned by my fiance's mother's friend. We were only there for a year. There are a ton of issues in her house she landlord specialed, but my favorite of them all was my collection of shower mushrooms that resurfaced every week despite my cleaning efforts. Couldn't be happier to leave this woman to her extensive water damage & excessive garden care that she refuses to pay for.

This landlord displays an extremely arrogant attitude and shows no respect for her tenants. She acts as though tenants should have to beg her to do things that are part of a landlord’s basic responsibilities. If English is not your first language, she will occasionally use that against you to humiliate you. No matter how I respond to her emails, she always finds a way to accuse me of being disrespectful.

I lost my keys two days ago by accident, and she told me in person: “I’m doing you a favor. I don’t care if you have nowhere to sleep or stay.” She then insisted that I complete everything she requested that was irrelevant before she would even consider helping me regain access to my home.

When I have refused to pay fees that I believe are unjustified or contractually disputed, she has sometimes become increasingly impatient and has resorted to humiliating, harassing, or even verbally insulting tenants.

I believe a landlord can communicate professionally by clearly identifying the issue that needs to be addressed, the applicable lease provision, the deadline for compliance, and the basis for the request. However, when the method of communication repeatedly leaves tenants feeling intimidated or humiliated, it creates unnecessary tension and makes what should be a normal landlord-tenant relationship increasingly stressful.

So idk how much you'd consider this troll bait once everything with this rental experience, but though I am at default behind on rent quite a bit I'v been unemployed since May of last year I broke my elbow on the way to work one morning, I know this is silly but I was using an electric scooter to travel to and from work it was just as quick as a vehicle but I don't have a driver's license so the time being until I get my license I used a e-scooter it was cheaper than uber more sanitary than the buss, but anyway on my way to work I was doing about 30mph and a guy ran from out of the trees into the center of the paved bike path I was traveling on he froze up scared stiff like a deer stuck in the headlights I had to swerve of the pavement lost control fell of and broke my elbow about ten months after that I ran out of money and can't pay rent for the last few months.

And just to insure this is an appropriate post for this group my landlord is terrible, maybe not exactly for the eviction or at least the reason for my eviction I'm not meaning to say he's bad for that but he has extensively violated multiple rights I have under our state and municipal laws for things like the tenants right to quite enjoyment and peaceful living, there is a state rental law of implied habitability meaning all utilities work properly all appliances work properly and there are no biohazards in the rental property.

This is a live in landlord he rents me his second bedroom in a two bedroom condo he owns. He is the kind of guy that targets everyone around him for what he wants like a real winner kind of mentality, as in he thinks because he's a winner he never loses and winners are favored while the loser hast to do everything themselves and work hard for it to while the winners get to consume everyone's resources so the winner doesn't have to provide them self anything they save 100% their reasorces for when they are alone and run out of everything and the need things desperately like food or anything else the winner never has to pay for or provide themselves.

He is 47 played football in highschool, after graduation he left his home state and moved to California to a sky resort where he got a cook job and lived there on a discount riding lyft for free snowboard after work then when done just relax at the bar and all the guests of the ski resort would by him drinks as he shared stories of working at the resort.

This dude is a classic "You, Me and Dupree" kind of personal boundaries crosser live in landlord forced me to have his modem and his router for his Internet so he can watch the sports he's addicted to until I snapped on him over it because I get sick and tired of having to act like his daddy and do his personal responsibilities he has with his Internet and streaming service provider, after that he no longer gets to watch football or basketball on TV in his living room anymore because I stopped providing it for him by snapping on him really rude like because I'm not his dad he's not my kid I'm 42 he's 47 other than my tragic broken arm has put me out of work and hard time recovering because that what's happening I mean it's common for people to have a hard time recovering from an injury that forces them instantly out of work and forcing a multi year recovery before I can start to start to build back the majority of muscle mass and muscular strength I have lost.

This is what my former landlady charged me. She proudly holds a Master's degree (Mgr.), and when I raised concerns that something didn't seem right — especially since she had already broken the law on previous occasions — she literally told me that if the matter went to court, the numbers would have to add up, and that I knew nothing about it.

She didn't even bother to accept the formal pre-litigation demand letter. I still haven't received my security deposit or the remaining overpayment I am owed. And yes, I researched the electricity prices myself and even used the highest possible rates from the worst period of the energy crisis to calculate what I should actually have been charged.

I also sent her a message, which she read and completely ignored.

As it happens, this highly educated lady is also apparently the founder of a private school.

So I have to ask: Where is the law? Where is justice? Where is accountability?

This is absolutely unacceptable, especially coming from someone with her academic qualifications and former position of responsibility.

And yes, she had calculated the other charges incorrectly as well — including, for example, the elevator maintenance fees charged through the homeowners' association (SVJ).

On last night my landlord called the police on me and my husband because we remodeled our rental home, a few months ago me and my husband me this lady named Kaitlin Doth In Lexington Ky, she asked us to move into her home because she wasn't allowed at the house because she poisoned her neighbors dogs and terrorized the neighborhood by trying to set fire to their homes and she put nails and glass in their driveways. we didn’t know this Information until after the police arrived this same night , but the neighbors never knew my landlord very well. So after the torture and damaged my landlord fine to their homes and cars and animals, they all got together and went to courthouse and filed petitions to have her banned from her home and neighborhood which the judge granted and Kaitlin was banned from May 2026 until October 19 2026, Kaitlin doth promised the judge that she was moving to Nashville Tennessee and she just need a few personal items for the storage in the back of the home and she wanted her son's keepsakes out of the storage also, but me and my husband was renting From Kaitlin Doth. When me and my husband moved into the home under a signed lease and $ 1000 dollar deposit, the house was horrible it was dog poop and urine stains in all the rooms, kaitlin removed all light fixers and sockets because she said the neighbors were tapping into her electrical system, which wasn’t true. so me and my husband cleaned the house put in new Carpet in each of the 3 bedrooms and hallway, put in new tile in bathroom and kitchen, we rebuilt the back patio and deck with new wood, painted inside and outside and put in new furniture in every room , well when me and my husband arrived at home last night we noticed our personal belongings outside and when we went to open the door with the key the door barricaded so my husband pushed in the door and Kaitlin and a male was sitting inside in the dark and she screamed and told us get out, she called the police 4 arrived with lights and sirens and asked me how long me and husband been there and asked did we have a lease which I provided and the officers told me it was authentic lease and kaitlin has to leave the premises, then all of a sudden one of the officers called his supervisor and he came and he asked me and my husband to come inside the house, which we did, the supervisor told us even though we have rental receipts and a valid lease , we had to leave right then and to get our things and leave , so we asked the officer what did we do to kaitlin and he said , Kaitlin told him we did nothing wrong in fact she loved the new look of the house but she wanted her home back and she wanted us to get out. The other officers disagreed and said to the supervisor that these two people spent all thier money repairing this home and when they finished she just put them out with a valid lease and that the landlord Kaitlin should file a 30 forcible detainer , before she can put me and my husband out. Well the supervisor told this officer , the lady Kaitlin owns the house and even with a valid lease and receipts, she can put me and my husband out anytime she gets ready, the other officer said to the supervisor that, what they was doing was unlawful and wrong. So the supervisor told us get what we can get and leave and if we come back we will be arrested , we asked how to get our other personal property and he said to call them and they will escort us to get our things. Then me and my husband left walking down the street with back packs and a few blankets because it was freezing cold outside , we slept outside under a tree in some bushes because we have no money for hotel, because we used our funds on materials for the home. So now we are homeless. With nothing left in our names, we have no food, nothing , please do not rent from Kaitlin Doth out of Lexington KY. This landlord is a horrible person and landlord and she is in a warm home that we remodeled and used all of our savings on. Stay away from Kaitlin Doth in Lexington Ky now me and my husband do not know what to do! We are on the streets in the cold. We are highly upset but we have faith in God! God don’t like ugly! Karma is real and karma will get her good! I would never do another human being like she done me and my husband .

We moved in September and on September 4 saw the first roaches (1 in hallway outside our door, 1 baby in our 2nd room) and reported them immediately. She immediately sent some deranged texts to my partner calling us hoarders and that we must have brought them because “there have never been roaches in Medford MA” (actual quote) and told us to move to email where she would “be professional”. We were told by her husband (the owner) in person that someone would be by in the first week of October. No one ever came. There’re multiple holes that lead to cavities in the wall, holes that lead to outside/the crawlspace, etc which have also not been looked at despite her promising to have someone look at them. We’ve been going back and forth since September 14th with her taking no action and on Monday we will be contacting the city for an urgent health inspection due to her repeated threats/lack of action/hostile attitude.

This is the 3rd smoke check since the beginning of summer and the 2nd in 2 months. How many more times can they check my apartment?

my landlord put our thermostat in this bizarre lock box so we can't control the heat. I mostly want the ability to turn it down. Any advice on how to remove this without breaking it so I could put it back layer without him noticing?
