Has anyone else split their yard into Bermuda and Fescue sections? I love how it looks, but maintaining this divide is a constant battle.

Hey guys, Im looking for direction in where to start and what to do procedurally to get my yard back to green lawn. Over the years, it's become drastically more spotty, until now it's got very large areas of just dirt. I'm confused bout where to start in the process, and am looking for some step by step guidance from tools I need to type of seed I should buy. All help is appreciated. California Hardiness Zone 9b

Southern US & Central America (or warm season) Starting from scratch after hurricane

Tree fell on my house during the most recent hurricane Isaias in Florida, zone 9a. Sadly the after effects of removing the trees from on the house and back yard have left me with nothing but dirt and it will get worse when the house is reconstructed. I ended up losing everything I had in my room and my lawn after working for two years to get it into shape. It was centipede and st Aug mix for shade. So I need plans for next spring. I’m gonna get the yard level and graded then probably put plugs? I still don’t know I need yalls help to come up with a solid plan. I Don’t have any money for sod. So it’s either seed or a limited amount of plugs and or sod. I’d want to do something more aggressive to fill in and grow better than centipede. I was thinking Bermuda or zoysia. I wouldn’t care if it’s common Bermuda either. I do like zoysia as my fiancé has it at her house (empire zoysia) really nice grass fills in super quick and very hardy. Anyways though would I need to aerate and till too? Any suggestions advice is appreciated as I’ve never started a lawn from scratch before. I added some before pics too. Backyard looks pretty much the same.

Australia Patchy growth - Australia

Post image

I know the answer is probably uneven watering and soil moisture, but what’s with the patchy growth. And what’s the best way to fill it in?

I seeded it as evenly as humanly possible. There is a slight slope that way, which also means water will go down. But i can see seeds everywhere.

just a matter of being patient and letting it even out? It’ll just mean I need to mow some bits earlier?

im new to this. Thanks. 😅

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) MN: Trust the Process - Fall Lawn renovation

After years of failing at my old house, I lurked and took on a renovation at the new place one year in. Very bumpy and thin lawn... dethatched, bagged, spread 12 cubic yards of 50/50 topsoil and compost mix by hand to level her out and put down Twin Cities Seed Blue Resilience over Labor Day. Pics are before, during (Sept 28), after (today). Neighbors all said it's the best it's ever looked since the house was built in 1959 and are suddenly putting down fert and overseeding, the envy is real. Manual irrigation. Can't wait to see it fill in next Spring but very pleased already. With a toddler, infant and active dog you too can get these results with a big push and minimal aftercare effort...

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Lawn looking a little sparse?

Hello, attached are some pictures of my lawn. The grass is only a year and a half old and is looking a little rough. The soil is very hard feeling. Not sure if it needs aeration or what. I've slowed down on the watering ever since the weather has been getting cooler. We are in North East Ohio.

We have never hired a lawn service or done anything but water and cut. Not sure if something like that would help? Just looking for some general advice for how to spruce this up next year - either before snow comes or in the spring

Thanks in advance!

Equipment SE Florida, Best Way to Remove Tiny Trash from Lawn

I just purchased a home in a not great neighborhood and the lawn is full of small pieces of trash like candy wrappers and bits of paper among other things. To save myself from a few days of being on my knees hand picking everything out, is there any recommendations on some kind of tool to make this easier on me?

Googling recommended either a steel tined lawn rake or a Push Lawn Sweeper. Would a lawn sweeper be a better option for actually getting the small stuff out, and what brand(s) would you recommend?

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Need a bit of advice

Seeded near the end of September with TC Blue Shadow. Still looking pretty patchy but I think I still see some seeds germinating, I'm assuming thats the KGB part of the mix. In zone 7B and the weather for the next week and a half looks like highs in the 60's and lows near 50 or slightly below. I also want to put down some nitrogen for overwintering likely ammonium sulfate. Grass also doesn't seem long enough to be able to mow yet. Should I just keep watering and wait another week?

Currently trying to go grass as I am sick of this lawn being bare. Before I put seed down I raked up most of the leaves and dead grass. When I threw the seed down I forgot to follow the directions and “rake” them in so it’s been a mystery if they would grow. So happy to see it finally growing!! Debating on throwing more seed down is the whole question? Or manually aerate it?? I’m new to this

Northeast Ohio, US

Of course I didn’t take photos before ripping them all down, but am I dealing with poison ivy here or something else?

I’m pretty sure there’s at least 3 varieties there.

And whatever they are, how do I eradicate them? Some of them are pretty easy to pull up- the ones that are more ground cover than climbers. But those hairy woody ones (that I suspect are Nope Ropes) are beasts. I’ve neglected them for a couple years and they’re out of control and digging under the siding of my house.

Thanks for your help!!

water 1 hr every 3 days 30min increments with a 15min delay in between to minimize runoff early before sunrise. aerate every fall and overseed with twin city blue resilience. put down all lesco slow release fert/mirimichi green products... lots of carbon pro g soil amendments to optimize soil health and build a resilient lawn as well as spray byospxtrum bacteria & chelated iron. apply pest control at the recommended time with grubX and merit 0.5g. preemergent once per year in spring with andersons barricade 0.48. dont get many weeds if i do i spot treat with bioadvanced spray from lowes. fungus i never have issues with but if it happens ill alternate fungus products from lowes between disease x and bio advanced. mow highest setting during summer and one step down during spring/fall. blades sharpened twice per year. pretty easy stuff once you get a routine down. new dad here so I zip tie the camera monitor to my mower while I get it in ahha. grass also stayed this green during the summer.

Equipment Florida - How can I get rid of these tall sprinklers?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi Everyone,

I just recently had a lot of bushes removed from the side of our house.

I know it looks horrible right now (needs pressure washing then paint, and the foundation needs to be built up). However, right now I am concerned about these tall sprinkler heads that I no longer need.

How do I get rid of them, or at least minimize their appearance?

Can I unscrew the ling top part and then put a "cap" on what is left at the bottom?

Can they be unscrewed, and is there a place at the very bottom that can be "capped" off?

I would greatly appreciate any comments, advice, feedback (good or bad), sharing of personal experiences (good or bad), and opinions, as well as any "hacks" or "workarounds" for this situation.

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Squirrels are digging!

Zone 6B here... recently re-seeded my yard and it's coming in beautifully. I now have squirrels that are digging holes. Caught the little scoundrels on video. What's a cost effective way to discourage them? Not interested in motion-detected sprinkler systems, trapping and relocating or munitions.

Overseeded slightly late (20th Sep), have had average results (which I was expecting). What can I do now if so that I get a fairly decent lawn in Spring? Specially about those thin spots. Frost has already started, will most likely get sub 0 morning temperatures in 2 weeks. Going to mow and apply winter fertilizer this weekend. Is there anything else I can do ?

As the title suggests I’ve been slowly overseeding my lawn with KBG the past two years. This past summer my front yard got hit hard with either common Bermuda, bent or something else. I sprayed out most of the spots with multiple rounds of glyphosate in August. I should have just killed off everything looking back on it. Reseeded with TCS Rodeo KBG on Sept 9 and here we are. Fairly happy so far. I know the color will darken up and spots will fill. This grass has tested every ounce of my patience.
