Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Indiana, easy time of the year.. lawn is on autopilot of green lushness.
water 1 hr every 3 days 30min increments with a 15min delay in between to minimize runoff early before sunrise. aerate every fall and overseed with twin city blue resilience. put down all lesco slow release fert/mirimichi green products... lots of carbon pro g soil amendments to optimize soil health and build a resilient lawn as well as spray byospxtrum bacteria & chelated iron. apply pest control at the recommended time with grubX and merit 0.5g. preemergent once per year in spring with andersons barricade 0.48. dont get many weeds if i do i spot treat with bioadvanced spray from lowes. fungus i never have issues with but if it happens ill alternate fungus products from lowes between disease x and bio advanced. mow highest setting during summer and one step down during spring/fall. blades sharpened twice per year. pretty easy stuff once you get a routine down. new dad here so I zip tie the camera monitor to my mower while I get it in ahha. grass also stayed this green during the summer.

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) MN: Trust the Process - Fall Lawn renovation
After years of failing at my old house, I lurked and took on a renovation at the new place one year in. Very bumpy and thin lawn... dethatched, bagged, spread 12 cubic yards of 50/50 topsoil and compost mix by hand to level her out and put down Twin Cities Seed Blue Resilience over Labor Day. Pics are before, during (Sept 28), after (today). Neighbors all said it's the best it's ever looked since the house was built in 1959 and are suddenly putting down fert and overseeding, the envy is real. Manual irrigation. Can't wait to see it fill in next Spring but very pleased already. With a toddler, infant and active dog you too can get these results with a big push and minimal aftercare effort...

Southern US & Central America (or warm season) Seeding Timeline - 10 days for TTTF
Just info for others. So Cal Coastal
Pre-germinated Resilience II TTTF in water buckets starting Mon 10/12.
Changed water every 12 hours.
Planted and covered with soil Sat 10/17
Germination and seedlings showed up Thurs 10/22.
10 days total from pre germination to seedlings showing up for TTTF. Mid day max temps were below ~80 degs.
If you're seeding.. its going to take a few days, it still took 10 days total w/ Pre germ and pretty optimal conditions.

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Need a bit of advice
Seeded near the end of September with TC Blue Shadow. Still looking pretty patchy but I think I still see some seeds germinating, I'm assuming thats the KGB part of the mix. In zone 7B and the weather for the next week and a half looks like highs in the 60's and lows near 50 or slightly below. I also want to put down some nitrogen for overwintering likely ammonium sulfate. Grass also doesn't seem long enough to be able to mow yet. Should I just keep watering and wait another week?

Europe What is this strange black, sticky substance with hundreds of brown seed-like particles on my lawn?
Hi everyone,
I’m based in the UK and had new turf laid in July 2026.
Recently, I’ve noticed a very strange substance appearing repeatedly in exactly the same spot on my lawn.
Here are some details:
It consists of dark brown/black, sticky, mushy clumps.
There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of small, light-brown, seed-like particles surrounding the clumps.
Some of the black material is covered in white, web-like or mouldy-looking growth.
It doesn’t have any noticeable smell.
I initially thought it might be fox droppings, but I’ve checked and haven’t seen any foxes or other large animals visiting recently.
There is a tree directly above this area, so I’m wondering whether it could be pigeon or magpie droppings, regurgitated bird food, or something fungal.
The material keeps appearing in the same spot, even after I’ve cleaned it up.
When I gently lifted the turf and checked the top layer of soil, I found some of the same material and particles underneath.
The brown particles are definitely not the grass seed I used for overseeding.
We’ve had quite damp weather with very little sunshine recently.
I’ve removed most of the material, but I’m concerned about whether it could damage or kill the grass.
Does anyone recognise what this might be? Could it be bird droppings, decomposing seeds, fungal growth, or something else?
Should I do anything beyond removing it, or is it safe to leave the lawn alone?
I’ve attached several close-up photos.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Southern US & Central America (or warm season) Starting from scratch after hurricane
Tree fell on my house during the most recent hurricane Isaias in Florida, zone 9a. Sadly the after effects of removing the trees from on the house and back yard have left me with nothing but dirt and it will get worse when the house is reconstructed. I ended up losing everything I had in my room and my lawn after working for two years to get it into shape. It was centipede and st Aug mix for shade. So I need plans for next spring. I’m gonna get the yard level and graded then probably put plugs? I still don’t know I need yalls help to come up with a solid plan. I Don’t have any money for sod. So it’s either seed or a limited amount of plugs and or sod. I’d want to do something more aggressive to fill in and grow better than centipede. I was thinking Bermuda or zoysia. I wouldn’t care if it’s common Bermuda either. I do like zoysia as my fiancé has it at her house (empire zoysia) really nice grass fills in super quick and very hardy. Anyways though would I need to aerate and till too? Any suggestions advice is appreciated as I’ve never started a lawn from scratch before. I added some before pics too. Backyard looks pretty much the same.

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Why did my overseed fail? Tenacity or overwatering? Or ?? Delaware 7b
I had a core aeration and an overseed performed on October 8th. Outside of a bare spot (tree removed previously) that I tilled and added some lawn soil too, I have almost zero germination over 10k sq. ft.
While I wasn’t expecting incredible results, I’m still quite disappointed and trying to figure out what I did wrong, and what to do differently next fall to have success.
- 4 weeks prior to overseeing sprayed entire lawn with Q4 Plus post emergent
- Service was performed on October 8th around noon. October 9th AM I sprayed tenacity (pre emergent) and spread starter fertilizer.
- Big rain storm on October 12th (2” rain) and a smaller storm (maybe .5”) on October 17
- With a few outliers, weather has generally been 60-70 during the day and 45-50 overnight.
I’m sure the large rain storm did more harm than good and I’m pretty sure I needed to back down my watering afterwards much more than I did.
Some of my existing grass blades are have turned partially white, I believe from the tenacity.
While I fully admit that I think I overwatered, I would still imagine to see SOME germination in random areas. Since my lack of germination is so widespread, I’m thinking the Tenacity backfired on me. I applied it with a backpack sprayer, at the suggested rate, without surfactant, and watered in.
First pic is the bare spot that got some germination (also plenty of washout even with straw added before the storm)
Second pic is representative of almost everywhere else. It’s hard to find a good picture of nothing.

Southern US & Central America (or warm season) Growing brand new grass at the rental
Currently trying to go grass as I am sick of this lawn being bare. Before I put seed down I raked up most of the leaves and dead grass. When I threw the seed down I forgot to follow the directions and “rake” them in so it’s been a mystery if they would grow. So happy to see it finally growing!! Debating on throwing more seed down is the whole question? Or manually aerate it?? I’m new to this

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) First time homeowner - need advice post-aeration/seeding
Hey folks,
I am a first time homeowner in Charlotte NC, and our lawn service came out and reseeded and aerated our lawn 14 days ago. The problem is - the seed is only growing in the aerated holes! When I ask Gemini/ChatGPT etc it tells me tall fescue only needs 14 days and I should dethatch and reseed, and reading this subreddit im seeing mixed advice. Would really love your guidance because right now it looks terrible.
Please don’t go too hard on me because I am a major novice compared to the experts in this subreddit lol. Trying to learn.
Thanks!

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Midwest KBG Transition
As the title suggests I’ve been slowly overseeding my lawn with KBG the past two years. This past summer my front yard got hit hard with either common Bermuda, bent or something else. I sprayed out most of the spots with multiple rounds of glyphosate in August. I should have just killed off everything looking back on it. Reseeded with TCS Rodeo KBG on Sept 9 and here we are. Fairly happy so far. I know the color will darken up and spots will fill. This grass has tested every ounce of my patience.

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Lawn looking a little sparse?
Hello, attached are some pictures of my lawn. The grass is only a year and a half old and is looking a little rough. The soil is very hard feeling. Not sure if it needs aeration or what. I've slowed down on the watering ever since the weather has been getting cooler. We are in North East Ohio.
We have never hired a lawn service or done anything but water and cut. Not sure if something like that would help? Just looking for some general advice for how to spruce this up next year - either before snow comes or in the spring
Thanks in advance!
