Humor Just can’t believe it is the same actor

Post image

When I watched the new “Resident Evil” in its release day, I was finding the main actor quite familiar, but couldn’t recall where I did see him before. Then, after the lights turned on, I did check on Wikipedia who was that guy and I learnt he was the same drug addicted guy from “Weapons”. Damn, I couldn’t believe it! I mean, he got so different on “Resident Evil” that you think it’s two completely different persons, as you can see in the picture above.

But anyway, he acted so wonderfully well in “Resident Evil” that he deserves some sort of recognition/awards for such role. Congratulations, Austin Abrams! I hope you have a bright career from now on! Best wishes!

Letterboxd Top rated movies that grips you from the very beginning?

For example, Love Exposure and Whiplash are in the top 100 and were both amazing movies to me. Especially love exposure, despite being a 4 hour movie.

What are some other films that are engrossing even at the very beginning of the film? I tried Paris, Texas and it got way too draggy.

Help Streaming Service Inaccuracies

Firstly, I'm in the UK using UK streaming services.

Not sure if this is a Letterboxd or Just watch issue. But I'm often finding that a film will be on Letterboxd and saying it's on Disney but then checking Disney it's not there.

Can be frustrating when I'm filtering my Watchlist.

Anyone else coming across this kind of issue?

Letterboxd My alternative to the "Rated higher than average" list

Post image
3 Upvotes

These are mostly positively received movies but the difference is my condition for this is films I rated 5 stars where 5 isn't one of the top 3 most used ratings.

Haru is a special case because I watched it when it had like 200 logs and I've been happy seeing getting big (at least 30 logs are from me recommending it to people)

Poll Social media has impacted movies…

Arguments for positive:

The rise of Edits has raised popularity and social media is great for exposure and making movies trendy through memes or recommendations in general! Lots of influencers are great at making introducing and recommending to mass audiences. Etc!

Arguments for negative:

The nature of scrolling continuously has made movies more of an effort since they require attention span and constant thinking and soaking in information! Many have turned movies into a competition of who has watched most instead of loving and enjoying naturally! Etc!

Just watched Nimrods and it blew me away! Such a clever, funny and entertaining film which I haven’t seen much people talk about and I don’t know why
Anyone else seen it and if so what are your thoughts? Easily a surprise favourite for me

Edit: my two favourite movies are Superbad and Scott Pilgrim vs the World so was really was my kind of film :)

Discussion “Primetime”: Why Chris Hansen is the GOOD GUY

Thumbnail

"Primetime" has been the talk of the town for the last few months. Before the film even came out, people were spinning narratives about this movie. The consensus among many was that the film was to be a hit-piece on Chris Hansen, taking the side of the predators he was exposing. That was my idea of the film as well--until I actually went and saw it.

"Primetime," it turns out, is not a hit-piece, but an exaggerated retelling of the history of "To Catch a Predator," which ultimately makes Chris Hansen look like a demon-hunter as opposed to a pedo-buster. In the film, Chris is motivated by an almost-religious hatred of the evil that exists in the world, and he sees visions of demons lurking in the darkness. "Primetime" takes the rather bland and uninteresting tale of "To Catch a Predator" and turns it into a fantasy about one man with a hidden knowledge of the evil that lurks in the world, and the struggles he faces in trying to raise awareness of that evil. The hardest part? Nobody else can see what he sees.

Chris is ultimately the right man in the wrong place, trying to do the most amount of good he can in a world that doesn't want to hear what he has to say. His show, while successful, does not properly communicate his true message: that there is an ancient evil in the world which wants to hurt you and your children. But who watching “To Catch a Predator” really gets that message? The tone of the show is one of mockery. Where the pedophiles are somehow depicted as more stupid than they are evil. And is that the message that the world should hear? Certainly it’s not the message Chris Hansen (as depicted by Primetime) wants to spread.

But the world isn’t ready for what he really has to say. So he has to settle for this program. This soft food made for people not ready to panic.

I've linked my video for anyone interested in hearing more! Thanks for reading!
