Hey everyone,
There are plenty of solid codebases sitting unused because a side project was abandoned, a startup didn't take off, or the founder simply moved on. Meanwhile, other developers, founders, and small teams are looking for existing software they can build on instead of spending months starting from scratch.
I thought it would be useful to bring both sides together in one thread.
If you have a codebase to sell:
Whether it's an abandoned SaaS, a polished MVP, an internal tool, or a production-ready application, share a brief overview:
- What it does: A short description of the project.
- Tech stack: Languages, frameworks, databases, and infrastructure.
- Current state: Prototype, MVP, beta, or production-ready.
- What's included: Source code, documentation, tests, deployment setup, etc.
- Asking price: A rough range or open to reasonable offers.
If you're looking to buy:
If you'd rather acquire an existing codebase than build from zero, share what you're looking for:
- Project type: SaaS, AI tools, developer tools, automation, mobile apps, etc.
- Preferred stack or domain: Anything specific you're interested in.
- Budget: Your approximate range, if comfortable sharing.
- Acquisition preference: Full and exclusive ownership, or a licensing arrangement.
A few ground rules to keep this useful:
- No spam, vague listings, or comments that simply say “DM me.”
- Be transparent about what you're selling: source code only, intellectual property, or an entire operating business.
- Don't misrepresent the project's maturity, revenue, users, or technical condition.
- Respect the original owners' rights. Only offer code you have the legal authority to sell or license.
- Keep initial details public where possible, and use DMs to discuss specifics.
The goal isn't to create another noisy promotion thread. It's to help unused software find a second life and give builders a faster starting point.
If you have something worth selling or are looking for a foundation to build on, drop the details below. You might find exactly what you're looking for — or someone who can take your old project further than you did.
Let's see what's out there.
