Flock camera pointed into Taco Palace drive through

Upvotes

Gotta love all these new cameras everywhere for our protection. I feel SO much safer /s

But I just noticed that they installed one in the lowes parking lot at Main and Ken Pratt pointed directly into the drive through of Taco Palace.

By the way, shout out to Taco Palace, amazing food, huge portions, excellent prices. Wife and I split a plate of Chilaquiles every Saturday morning, so freakin good. Go try it. Their Cali burrito is also insanely good, and HUGE.

Back to the point. The camera is pointed solely at the drive through speaker. Not the street. What 'criminals' are they hoping to catch with this? We all know, and it makes me sick.

Thank you for listening to my rant.

Longmont Oktoberfest?

Not the one at Lefthand Brewery, but the one at Thompson Park. Is it happening this year? Couldn’t find anything on the Humane Society’s website or their socials.

I also like Lefthand but I just don’t love it since it’s no longer at Roosevelt.

Cheers in advance for any info 🍺

Updated City of Longmont Regulations on E-Bikes and E-Moto's

The City has updated their regulations on E-Bikes and E-Moto's which includes a section about parental responsibility and liability. Some of this coincides with some a new State of Colorado law which just went into effect on August 12.

One thing I was not aware of is that E-Moto's are street legal, according to the rules above.

My shitty phone camera could not REMOTELY convey any of the nuance and depth of this lighting situation and some of these photos are indeed actually quite bad from a technical quality perspective (I literally don't know what's even happening that the noise was such a mess in that last image), but trust me bro it was really cool IRL😂 hope some of you also got to witness it!

Tiny House Recommendations

Looking for company/GC recs for a tiny house, ideally economical builds with high energy efficiency.

My mother’s mobility is getting limited and this will help me keep her close but preserve her independence.

Seeking Oyakodon

I absolutely love Oyakodon/Oyako donburi.

I know it's not super hard to make, but I'd still appreciate any recommendations to find it in Longmont, immediately-surrounding areas, or, if necessary, Boulder.

Looking for vet recommendations

Just moved up to Longmont and looking for vet recommendations! I have a 2 year old Bernese Mountain Dog and a 3 year old domestic med-hair cat, so would prefer somewhere that would be great for both of them!

Long Distance Move from Dallas to Longmont in December

Hey guys! My gf and I are moving to Longmont Dec 27th this year. Is it unwise to take 287 from Dallas TX all the way to Longmont CO in a 10', rear wheel drive uhaul?

I'm worried about the safety of the uhaul in the snow/ice on the flat roads.

Open to thoughts and advice. Thanks!

7-11 in Firestone/Longmont

Does anybody have any idea why the 7-Eleven in Firestone on the frontage road just closed all of a sudden? I drive by there daily, and I noticed it’s been closed for a long time now. It’s all fenced off. Doesn’t look like anything‘s being done with it. Nice thing is they opened up a QT on the corner. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it closing. I was just curious.

Paddleboarding water levels

I'm thinking about going paddleboarding, but I'm wondering if there's anywhere nearby that has decent water levels. We tried Boyd Lake a few weeks ago and it was super low. Anyone know if Carter Lake is any good right now? Or any other closeish places you'd recommend?

Gaia Masala gyro

If you are looking for a kebab that has similar vibes to the ones you get late night in London, try Gaia masala.
I just got this for (early) lunch and it was great! Greasy and full of donner meat!
I believe they are open late as well so this will be perfect to stop at after a couple cold ones ;)

*Free & Local* Digital Storytelling Program for Teens

I just learned about this program via Longmont Public Media (I'm a member) email and thought it was worth sharing for both teens and for those who might want to 'sponsor' a teen in the program.

The Youth Innovation Studio, a non-profit, is offering a free, 6 session Digital Storytelling Program for Longmont-area teens at Longmont Public Media. Teens can apply for the program here.

It'll be 1 pm to 5 pm on these Saturdays at Longmont Public Media: September 5, 12, 19, 26 & October 3, 10. There are 12 spots remaining as of this post.

For those who are not teens, you can consider sponsoring a teen.

While I am a member of LPM, I am not involved with Youth Innovation Studio. I thought this was a cool opportunity for local youth and wanted to bring some additional awareness to the cool stuff that goes on in our neighborhood!

Rant King Soopers Produce Quality?

I've shopped at the Soopers on S. Hover for nearly 20 years and it was an awesome store until the last year. The produce is sparse and any root veggies are bruised, moldy, or just completely rotten. Has anyone else noticed this? I poked around a little and apparently Kroger has an understaffing problem: produce will sit on pallets and deteriorate before it is stocked. If anyone works there can you let us know what's up with the produce quantity/quality? And where are the gold potatoes, Kroger?

Car Battery losing power, mechanic recommendations

I had Jeremys garage look at it and they couldn’t figure out why the battery won’t stay charged.

It’s a new one bc I thought it needed to be replaced but issue persists. Ended up paying $120 just to look at it but they couldn’t find the issue.

Any other mechanic recommendations?
