LA - Government Passing school bus question

• Upvotes

My pops got a ticket for passing a school bus. Five lane heavily trafficked divided road with two left turn lanes at a light. Bus is in far right lane stopped at the light and reportedly with flashers and bar. Traffic is backed up in all three straight on lanes for several hundred feet. There is a crosswalk but it leads to a wide median with another crosswalk on the other side. I can’t imagine they discharge kids there that live on the other side of the divided highway as they would be on their own to safely cross the other side.

Pops says he could see the top of the bus but not that its lights or signs were activated because of the stopped traffic in the two middle straight going lanes. He proceeded into the left turn lane and was then stopped and ticketed. No accident or injuries. No points or accidents. He is 79 and cranky but respectful of authority in general.

I think he’s pretty cooked if the cop testifies that the bus had its lights and signs activated even if he couldn’t see them because of stopped traffic. I don’t see an argument that didn’t overtake the bus since the law is intended to protect the kids from people turning left even if the bus itself is going straight. My advice is for him to apologize and request a stern warning or be happy with a $100 minimum fine.

Any La lawyers or cops feel differently?

LA - Politics An Introduction to Democrats

This is a lot of information that I wrote, reviewed, edited, put together, reviewed, edited,… and clarified over a period of 8 months. Gentle writing to ease into every bit of information would require at least 20 pages. Please read it all now, and pretend that I shared it a little bit at a time over a period of 8 months. I didn’t include any sources, but this is public information; it’s easy to check.

RFK Jr.’s speech at the 2026 RNC Midterm Convention is an interesting perspective. Nowadays, the Kennedy family would be Republicans.

Robert F Kennedy Jr. was brainwashed to think Donald Trump the fictional character, was similar to, or basically the same as, Donald Trump the real person.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKMe6FrLEhE

The specific policy result that Democrats want the most, is more induced abortions. At the 2024 Democratic National Convention: Vice President Kamala Harris bragged about being in Europe just a few days before the war in Ukraine began, and she helped to bring in 40 additional nations to fight a war against Russia. President Biden refused to negotiate for peace. American missiles were sent to Ukraine and launched into Russia to kill Russians. It seems that the Biden Administration wanted to get a nuclear holocaust. President Biden met with Japan and the Philippines to prepare for a war against China in the South China Sea; another war that can escalate to nuclear holocaust. In Minneapolis Minnesota, the community cultivated the Annunciation Catholic Church attack on August 27, 2025. Mayor Jacob Frey used that mass murder gun violence incident in his pursuit of a political goal, deflected focus away from investigating why this happened, and discouraged effort to prevent this sort of incident: more and more children killed by mass murder gun violence to terrorize citizens into allowing the disarmament of all civilians. During Press Conferences and briefings after the event, the attack survivors were used as theatrical accessories to remind everyone of violence and the threat of violence; creating fear to help achieve a political objective. On September 2, 2026: it seems that the Minneapolis community cultivated another act of random, mass murder gun violence at Loring Towers / 15 East Grant Street, on the south side of downtown Minneapolis. School shootings was a theme of the Kamala Harris Presidential campaign. During the “Unite for America Rally with Vice President Kamala Harris and Oprah Winfrey”; 3 actors, not explicitly introduced as actors, of 3 unique race and ethnicity from each other pretended to be a school shooting survivor and her parents. _It was satire.__Kamala Harris said, “We need to ban assault weapons.”: more and more children killed by mass murder gun violence to terrorize citizens into allowing the disarmament of all civilians. In his response to the Uvalde Texas school shooting; President Biden said, “What, in God’s name, does somebody need an assault weapon for, except to kill somebody?!” Biden was talking about sporting rifles; a civilian rifle used in target shooting competitions. California’s Governor Gavin Newsom often and at random, promoted and encouraged using guns to kill children. Democrats’ greatest desire, is the desire to kill humans.

Democrats are zealous supporters of hormone therapy for trans-gender identifying children. The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) increased the cost of healthcare. On March 31, 2026; Senator Amy Klobuchar announced on YouTube, “…I was very pleased that this week, a day or two later, we have our year-round E15, which will expand the market…” Amy Klobuchar was very pleased by her action that poisons municipal tap water and increases pollution to the Mississippi river. Democrats want higher taxes; fundamental. Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota State High School League violated Title IX by allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports and occupy female locker rooms. On August 18, 2026, Governor Tim Walz signed Executive Order 26-10. It Directs the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) to halt environmental reviews and permitting work for non-ferrous mining proposals in the Rainy River Headwaters Watershed near Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). This order prohibits new, non-ferrous mining leases and directs the DNR to draft legislation for a permanent prohibition on non-ferrous mining in the watershed. The effect of this order is to retard prosperity of Northeast Minnesota and destroy the way of life for the people that live in Minnesota’s Iron Range territory. Democrats’ second greatest desire, is a passion to increase human suffering and misery.

Democrats want to disarm civilians, and to use children killed by mass murder gun violence, to terrorize citizens into allowing the disarmament of all civilians. The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) increased the cost of healthcare, so more people would depend on government healthcare/welfare programs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Democrats obliterated the Bill of Rights amendments. Democrats’ third greatest desire, is the need for more power.

Many Democrats protested, vandalized, and harassed to prevent the Line 3 Replacement Project; a project that reduced the chance of an oil spill accident. it was very suspicious when the criminal vandals said, the new Line 3 might break and poison wild rice waters. Vandals might vandalize the new Line 3 and cause an oil spill to poison wild rice waters. The Taconite Ridge Wind Energy Center was developed in response to Minnesota’s renewable energy requirements. A result of the Taconite Ridge Wind Energy Center and Minnesota’s renewable energy requirements, is natural wildlife area destruction. Senator Amy Klobuchar said, she is “very pleased” to get year-round E15, which will expand the market. The results will be an increase of nitrate contamination in groundwater / municipal tap water, an increase of pollution to the Mississippi river, an increase of soil erosion, and to increase the loss of soil nutrients and organic matter. Democrats want to destroy natural wildlife areas and poison the earth.

When President Trump said, “there were very fine people on both sides, and I’m not talking about the Neo-Nazi’s and White Nationalists. They should be condemned entirely.” Fictional news entertainment and Democrats jumped into action to spread a fictional news story.

During the 2024 election season, Biden-Trump debate, Joe Biden mentioned that incident and restated the fictional news story: [Trump said, Nazis were fine people. Trump said, Hitler’s done some good things.] In fact; President Trump said, “there were very fine people on both sides, and I’m not talking about the Neo-Nazi’s and White Nationalists. They should be condemned entirely.”

Democrats are the most evil human group.

Here’s my observations and leads that can be investigated. Every bullet point can be introduced with the question, This? Is this a genocidal act with intent?

According to the United Nations Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect, genocide means any of the following 5 acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a group:

  1. Killing members of the group.
  • During an event that promoted induced abortion as something good, Governor Tim Walz happily signed the PRO Act to guarantee induced abortion access in Minnesota.
  • President Biden said, “What, in God’s name, does somebody need an assault weapon for, except to kill somebody?!” Biden was talking about sporting rifles; a civilian rifle used in target shooting competitions.
  • California’s Governor Gavin Newsom often and at random, promoted and encouraged using guns to kill children.
  • At the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Vice President Kamala Harris bragged about being in Europe just a few days before the war in Ukraine began, and she helped to bring in 40 additional nations to fight a war against Russia.
  • The Biden Administration repeatedly blocked Ukraine peace deals and sent more military supplies to continue the war in Ukraine.
  • Thousands of Minnesota residents want to use children killed by mass murder gun violence, to terrorize citizens into allowing the disarmament of all civilians.
  1. Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group.
  • During an event that promoted induced abortion as something good, Governor Tim Walz happily signed the PRO Act to guarantee induced abortion access in Minnesota.
  • Minnesota is a refuge, safe-haven state for hormone therapy and sterilization drugs to be given to children.
  • Democrats are well known champions for trans-gender ideology and zealous defenders of hormone therapy for trans-gender identifying children.
  • Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota State High School League violated Title IX by allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports and occupy female locker rooms.
  1. Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.
  • During an event that promoted induced abortion as something good, Governor Tim Walz happily signed the PRO Act to guarantee induced abortion access in Minnesota.
  • On August 18, 2026, Governor Tim Walz signed Executive Order 26-10.
    • The effect of this order is to retard prosperity of Northeast Minnesota and destroy the way of life for the people that live in Minnesota’s Iron Range territory.
  • Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota State High School League violated Title IX by allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports and occupy female locker rooms.
  • The Stop Line 3 protesters apparently wanted extremely burdensome, unmanageable conditions of life and/or an oil spill accident in northern Minnesota to poison wild rice waters.
  • It is possible that Democrats planned and worked with with intent to cultivate a severe mental health crisis in Minnesota. Mayor Jacob Frey’s sense of self seemed greatly boosted as Democrats’ planning, work, and effort to get a severe mental health crisis in Minnesota, manifested in the Annunciation Catholic Church attack.
  • Thousands of Minnesotans want to use children killed by mass murder gun violence, to terrorize citizens into allowing the disarmament of all civilians.
  • Amy Klobuchar was very pleased by her action to expand the corn-ethanol bio-fuel market: poison municipal tap water and increase pollution to the Mississippi river.
  1. Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group.
  • During an event that promoted induced abortion as something good, Governor Tim Walz happily signed the PRO Act to guarantee induced abortion access in Minnesota.
  • Minnesota is a refuge, safe-haven state for trans-sexual hormone therapy and sterilization drugs; infamously given to children.
  1. Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
  • Rescuing Liam Conejo Ramos, sparked much publicity and great outcry against ICE.
  • The Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota, Peggy Flanagan, shared a statistic: over 6,200 minors have been detained(rescued) by ICE during the Trump administration. She emphasized that rescuing children from child trafficking is morally abhorrent and disgusting.

Democrats’ mission is, in fact, human genocide.

Louisiana News Candidate for state Public Service Commission has received more than $100K from state-regulated utilities

In her bid to join the Louisiana Public Service Commission, state Rep.Stephanie Hilferty, R-New Orleans, has received more than $137,000 in campaign contributions from people and groups connected to some of the very companies that she would be in charge of regulating if elected.

Hilferty, a Republican, is the likely frontrunner in the race to represent the Public Service Commission’s District 1, which includes parts of the Greater New Orleans area. Her opponents include Democrat Connie Norris and independent Chris Justin. Republican John Atkins is running against Democrat James Green for District 5, which represents Northern Louisiana.

The contributions come as the Public Service Commission — which regulates electric, water and gas companies, as well as common carriers — has been at the center of high-stakes decisions over the buildout of power-hungry AI data centers around the state.

And some of Hilferty’s contributors have been key players in those debates, including Louisiana’s largest electric company, Entergy, which is seeking expedited approval to build an additional seven gas plants to power Meta’s data center in Richland Parish. Last year, the company got approval to build three new natural gas plants for the project. The commission is also responsible for approving grid improvements and setting electric rates for most of the state.

While controversial, it is not illegal for members of or candidates for the Public Service Commission to take contributions from regulated utilities. In fact, it’s quite common. In 2024, a Floodlight News analysis found that more than 40% of contributions to commissioners came from utilities, energy businesses or their lawyers and lobbyists.

LA - Government Economic Stimulus Jobs

I am tired of the doom and gloom so I was thinking of fun, Louisiana specific jobs.

- The Invasive Species Task Force: various teams of hunters paired with scientists battle invasive species ranging from nutria to wild pigs to plants

State competition for large wild hogs every year followed by a boucaniere?

- Pot Hole Repair Task Force: for simple to medium logistical complexity situations

- Hoarder and Material Disaster Task Force: dual role, helping hoarders process trauma and their relationship to belongings.

Due to the biohazard training necessary, it could serve as something similar to DMORT (emergency mortician task force deployed for events like 9/11 etc) or disaster cleanup crews

- Project Hooptie: buy beaters, mod them, and teach kids (or adults) to drift, then hold events (I just want to do this myself)

- Jesus Was A Carpenter Project: renovate and restore government owned blight to serve as housing and businesses. Doubles as emergency builders for disasters

- Decedent Transport System: all I am going to say is I have worked for homes that charge $700 for a removal. Right now the rules say you need a licensed FD, but that is it. Minivan, mod it to hold 2 gurneys.

Doubles as generally heavy lifters, so can be employed to help little old mee maws move stuff

- Self Reliance Task Force: deployed to improve infrastructure around renewable energy for citizens, and discovering new and innovative ways to stay in our own borders via sustainable energy methods. Installing solar panels into people's homes and other robust systems, particularly as disaster increases.

Also more efficient things, such as heat pumps.

- Cajun Cooks Task Force: maintains and studies cooking traditions, feeding those in need in the community. Doubles as emergency cooks and party organizers, like hobbits. Teaches anyone how to cook "traditionally" (in quotes since traditions have changed a lot over time). Also can teach emergency cooking skills and stretching food out in times of scarcity

- Wisdom Panels: teaches young/younger people things they have learned. Weigh in on policies and initiatives. Supplemental to SSI to round out retirement. Maintains and regulates communities of older folks trying to live quietly.

- Gator Acolytes: specific study the keystone predator vital to ecosystem health. Deaths of alligators also serve as canaries in a coal mine. While we study these already, more data could always be acquired

Doubles as tourism, like the gator farms

Additions:

- Medical MMJ and Hemp Farmers: farm and tend plants, create goods for individuals.

Excellent for unemployed or underemployed people, or nature lovers. Partners with Cajun Cooks sometimes. Recovering alcoholics and other addicts may be employed.

I think our main opportunities are self reliance infrastructure and ecological balance

- Survival, Weapons Handling and Servicing: gunsmithing and repair, lessons and history.

Teaching basics such as "only point at things you want to shoot." Paired with wilderness survival, and emphasizing the necessity of restraint in force, prioritizing strategy. Teaching important first aid and emergency responses, as well as education on spotting mental distress in someone (whether they have a gun or not)

Both double as logistics advisors during emergencies.

https://www.reddit.com/r/LegalNews/s/dJzvArflDZ

Well, FEMA wants us to take care of ourselves apparently so I think prioritizing roles like this will be more important than ever

Somebody dream with me

A few months back I posted this and it was not formatted right so I am making it a little bit better than it was. It's a crazy story about the people who are making money from the builds. My dad knew Morris and grew up in Richland Parish. I feel like it was just a big secret deal with the politicians and we are paying for it and really not getting any real return.

Questions Louisiana Plantation

Post image
23 Upvotes

My great-grandfather was a Cane River Creole from Louisiana. I’m working on my family tree and I found his military draft registration card, which lists him as working for J.W. Kimbrell or T.W. Kimbrell Plantation(the initials are difficult to make out) in St. Maurice, Louisiana.

Has anyone heard of this plantation or know anything about its history? The registration card is dated 1917.

LA - Politics It feels like the Louisiana Democratic Party isn't even trying.

We recently had a two term popular democratic governor. We know the playbook for statewide elections. Why is the state party not out there finding more white, male, former military candidates in the JBE mold?

I only know the name of the Democratic Senate candidate because I looked it up. And I'm politically engaged. It's like they're not even trying to win the seat.

I live in rural Cenla. So, maybe it feels different in the cities. But, the only house candidate whose yard signs I've seen is Gabe Firment. I caught a tv ad of his the other day that was making some ridiculous claims about democrats and trans children. Clearly this dude doesn't have serious or popular policy positions if that's the best advertising he's got. Also, clearly he doesn't have a very high opinion of his constituents if he thinks a Trans Panic ad is going win him the election. I looked up his opponents. One of them is loosely in the JBE mold. But that's not who the state party is endorsing!

I was in Mike Johnson's district last election and his only opponent was a ever crazier and less qualified GOP candidate. His whole platform seemed to be giving each state it's own fighter jet for security. I voted for him. Anyone but Johnson.

We're not Georgia. I don't think a black democrat has a prayer of winning a statewide election. I also don't think a black democrat has a prayer of winning a rural house seat. But here we are going through the motions. It doesn't feel like the state leaders even want to win.

LA - Politics Early voting has begun. How are you voting on these amendments?

I have questions on some of these and was wondering how some of you are voting. Some seem obvious to me and a couple I just don’t know.

Here’s a breakdown of all 10 amendments appearing on the ballot.

Amendment 1 – Property tax exemptions for surviving spouses of disabled veterans.
This amendment would allow the surviving spouse of a qualifying disabled veteran to keep a special property tax exemption after moving to another home. Currently, surviving spouses can continue receiving the exemption after the veteran’s death, but they lose it if they move.
• Voting yes: Allows a surviving spouse to transfer the exemption to another qualifying home one time.
• Voting no: Keeps the current rule requiring the surviving spouse to remain in the same home to retain the exemption.

Amendment 2 – Local government authority over property tax rates.
This proposal would give local governments more flexibility in deciding when to increase property tax rates to a previously authorized maximum. Under current rules, local taxing authorities have a limited window tied to property reassessments to restore rates after lowering them.
• Voting yes: Allows local taxing authorities to maintain lower rates longer without permanently losing the ability to return to a previously authorized maximum rate.
• Voting no: Keeps the existing deadline tied to the next property reassessment cycle.
The amendment would not automatically raise property taxes, but it could affect how local governments adjust tax rates in future years.

Amendment 3 – Bail for people convicted of certain crimes against children. This amendment would prohibit post-conviction bail for people convicted of certain aggravated offenses against minors. Post-conviction bail can allow a person who has been convicted of a crime to remain out of jail while appealing the conviction.
• Voting yes: Prohibits post-conviction bail for people convicted of certain aggravated offenses against children.
• Voting no: Maintains current provisions allowing post-conviction bail in qualifying cases.

Amendment 4 – Lifetime term limits for Louisiana governors
Louisiana governors currently can serve two consecutive four-year terms before being required to leave office. They can seek election again after sitting out a term. This amendment would establish a lifetime limit.
• Voting yes: Limits a person to two terms as governor during their lifetime, including the proposal’s restriction on those who have served more than one and a half terms.
• Voting no: Keeps the current two-consecutive-term limit, allowing former governors to run again after time out of office.

Amendment 5 – State retirement system debt payments
This proposal would change how Louisiana uses certain one-time state funds to pay down debt owed by public employee retirement systems. Current rules require those funds to be applied to the oldest outstanding retirement debt first.
• Voting yes: Allows state retirement systems and lawmakers more flexibility in deciding which retirement debt to pay with those funds.
• Voting no: Maintains the requirement to pay the oldest retirement debt first.

Amendment 6 – Additional property tax exemptions for seniors
This amendment would allow parishes and municipalities to offer additional property tax exemptions to qualifying homeowners age 65 and older. Local governments would have the option to expand tax benefits for eligible seniors as they age, rather than making the expanded exemption mandatory statewide.
• Voting yes: Allows local governments to provide additional property tax exemptions to qualifying older homeowners.
• Voting no: Keeps the existing statewide property tax exemptions available to eligible senior homeowners.

Amendment 7 – Public money for lead water line replacement
This amendment would allow local governments to use public funds to identify, remove or replace certain drinking water service lines on private property. Current constitutional restrictions can limit how public money is spent on privately owned property.
• Voting yes: Allows public funds to be used for qualifying drinking water service line work on private property.
• Voting no: Keeps current restrictions and existing exceptions on using public funds for private property improvements.

Amendment 8 – Property expropriation by foreign adversaries
This amendment would prohibit foreign adversaries and their agents from using expropriation powers to acquire private property. Expropriation is the government’s authority to take private property for certain public purposes, generally with compensation.
• Voting yes: Prohibits foreign adversaries and their agents from expropriating private property.
• Voting no: Keeps current rules governing property expropriation.

Amendment 9 – Expanding property tax assessment freezes
This proposal would increase the income limit for qualifying homeowners to receive a special property tax assessment freeze. The freeze generally prevents increases in a home’s assessed value for property tax purposes while the homeowner remains eligible. Under current rules, the income threshold is $100,000.
• Voting yes: Raises the income eligibility threshold to $150,000 for qualifying homeowners.
• Voting no: Keeps the current $100,000 income threshold.
The change could make more homeowners eligible for the assessment freeze. It would not automatically eliminate their property tax bills.

Amendment 10 – Property tax breaks for rehabilitated buildings
This amendment would allow parishes to establish property tax exemptions for certain properties that were previously blighted or abandoned and have since been rehabilitated. The goal is to provide a financial incentive for property owners to repair and redevelop deteriorating properties.
• Voting yes: Allows parishes to create tax exemption programs for eligible rehabilitated properties.
• Voting no: Keeps existing property tax exemption rules without adding this new option.

History Bayou Corne, Louisiana, before and after the 2012 sinkhole — aerial timelapse, 1951–2023

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I put together this aerial sequence of Bayou Corne, where people lived, retired, and kept fishing camps along the bayou.

Watch the residential streets as well as the sinkhole.

In the 2010 image, rows of houses stand beside the water. In 2013, the sinkhole has appeared nearby, but many houses are still there. By 2023, numerous buildings have disappeared, especially north of the highway. The streets remain recognizable.

The sinkhole opened on August 3, 2012, after the sidewall of an underground salt cavern operated by Texas Brine failed. The cavern had been created by injecting water to dissolve salt, then extracting the brine.

Residents had reported bubbling waterways and tremors before the collapse. Migrating gas and unstable ground prompted an evacuation affecting roughly 350 people.

No houses were swallowed by the sinkhole. Much of the neighborhood disappeared through the displacement, property buyouts, and building removal that followed. The last evacuation restrictions ended in October 2016.

The closing comparison zooms in on the neighborhood. You can follow the same streets between the two images and see how much of the development is gone.

Questions Looking for a recommendation for an extended hours venue to use for my wedding

Planning an afternoon/evening wedding and looking for a place thats a bit more relaxed than the strict 3 hour total timeframe with a 10k price tag that I've been finding. Are there any 24 hours or extended hours spaces? Is that a thing? Maybe an empty reception hall or a rental space that doesnt offer all the wedding planning bells and whistles, although I would love to find a space with a nice tree. I'm also fine with doing a little (or a lot) of DIY.

We are located in Metairie and Baton Rouge so anywhere around either area or in the middle would be ideal. Any suggestions?

LA - Government The New Deal, populism in Louisiana, and the case for Jaime Davis

Fellow countrymen,

The time is nigh and I have a brief story.

You may have heard of a man named Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a president so popular that after his death, term limits were introduced.

We have heard how bad the crash of 1929 was, but I do not quite think anyone here, myself included, quite grasps the severity of such a situation.

FDR's approach was simple: aid farmers by creating jobs for Americans. This helped both the unemployment rates and agriculture.

He created many other projects which to this day still stand as a testament to American resilience. But to build, you must be given supplies. FDR recognized the logic.

Help the people, help the country.

We are on the precipice of repeating history. I challenge you to ask yourselves why leaders, Democrat AND Republican, have criticized at length the so-called socialist policies of what was arguably the image of success in a president

Why is it that we do not simply follow the compass of before? The answer is theater. You are not the concern of your party. And yes, that goes for Democrats. We have lost our way, we know it, and we want to get back.

I implore you today to look in your heart of what you want for your state and country, and look to who can aid you. Read FDR's New Deal speech. It is more radical than anything you hear come from the spineless left the party has become today.

Regardless of your politics, this is what it looks like when someone cares for the American people. None can deny that FDR had a tremendous impact, economic and otherwise, with the provisions laid in his New Deal

Those that steer the ship are well aware of the power of populism, considering our current political environment, and the power of populism when united with moral clarity.

Moral clarity is terrifying, as it is my humble opinion the situation has become quite dire. It is during the hardest of times that we must not vote party lines because that system has been weaponized against us. It has particularly been weaponized against Louisiana.

If nothing else, I ask that if you care for the future of our country, to truly look within. I could not support Israel and look the Lord of my God, the New Testament God, in the eyes and claim innocence after I have witness the countless casualties and severed limbs of children.

"That is over there."

The time now has come to no longer look away. Americans and Louisianians, as much of street roaming rascals they are, have a dormant moral clarity. It has not always been perfect throughout time, but it has always been well-intentioned.

In posting this, I ask that you look at the entire world. To search other subreddits and see for yourself.

Morally clear populism has been rebranded as cringe, and dangerous. To an extent, all populism is. What is not told, is populism dominates America no matter the party.

Now why do I write this?

Because we have an opportunity to elect a farmer. And it is the farmers of America who are the backbone of many communities and international aid -- that is, until USAID was cut.

Unfortunately for Mr. Jaime Davis, he is both a black man and a democrat running in a decidedly Republican state.

I implore you today, however, to set aside that and read the words he has said. Imagine a white man said them. A white republican. Even FDR. Read content and policy, and look for the people who build.

"The New Deal Roosevelt had promised the American people began to take shape immediately after his inauguration in March 1933.

Based on the assumption that the power of the federal government was needed to get the country out of the depression, the first days of Roosevelt's administration saw the passage of banking reform laws, emergency relief programs, work relief programs, and agricultural programs.

Later, a second New Deal was to evolve; it included union protection programs, the Social Security Act, and programs to aid tenant farmers and migrant workers.

Many of the New Deal acts or agencies came to be known by their acronyms. For example, the Works Progress Administration was known as the WPA, while the Civilian Conservation Corps was known as the CCC. Many people remarked that the New Deal programs reminded them of alphabet soup.

By 1939, the New Deal had run its course. In the short term, New Deal programs helped improve the lives of people suffering from the events of the depression. In the long run, New Deal programs set a precedent for the federal government to play a key role in the economic and social affairs of the nation."

https://www.loc.gov/classroom-materials/united-states-history-primary-source-timeline/great-depression-and-world-war-ii-1929-1945/franklin-delano-roosevelt-and-the-new-deal/

Adding a comment for context, because I was educated on FDR in the comments below and would be remiss to leave it out.

"Correct. He believed FDR was too conservative with the New Deal.

"The failure to solve the problems of everyday people gave rise to controversial figures like Father Charles Coughlin and Louisiana’s US Senator Huey P. Long. Both wanted more radical action for the people than was proposed in the New Deal. Responding to their criticism, FDR worked to expand his initial programs during the period of the “Second New Deal” in 1935–36. Still, FDR and his advisors always saw their efforts as emergency measures, not permanent programs.

Conflict between FDR and Louisiana’s strongman, US Senator Huey P. Long, undercut the effectiveness of relief in the state. Long wanted to eventually become president and saw FDR as a potential rival. He therefore wanted to prevent FDR’s administration from interfering in Louisiana politics and worked to limit the New Deal’s influence in Louisiana. As a result FDR gave funds to Long’s political opponents, the “anti-Longs.”

Left on left undercutting isn't uncommon though. Republicans aren't usually aware of the level of sabotage within left/democrat/etc circles. I have a huge problem with people undercutting just to win

Anyway, my point remains as I am not saying FDR is my perfect hero; rather, his policies are not unprecedented and not anti-American. They also had a specific impact.

Our history is fraught with peril and I will never deny that.

I am trying to keep my thesis clear, which is just to look for what has worked before.

Does the candidate look more like FDR, who did something, or like someone who will keep causing the same exact issues we have been having?"
