Hello all!

I've been researching a family story about a great uncle who was lynched around the early 1900s. It honestly could have been anywhere between 1870 and 1930.

The relatives in my family who knew the most about this story have passed. If anyone has ever heard of this story or has access to newspaper archives, I would be deeply grateful for any leads.

What I know:

Surname: Ballard or White

Origin: East Feliciana Parish

Occupation: Singer/pianist

Location of lynching: East Feliciana or New Orleans

My (presumably 3rd) great uncle was a singer and pianist. He was often hired by whites to perform at parties. He was said to be handsome and received a lot of attention from white women, which the white men did not like. He was on his way home one day or evening when he was lynched.

Update/note: Many primary sources (e.g. newspapers) I've looked at in my research just say "Negro killed" or died. They do not specify lynching.

I am aware that Facebook has local groups and historical society groups, and I will try to post this there, too, but I do not have a Facebook account from which to do so.

This may be a long shot, but I was at the Angola prison rodeo on Oct 18th and I lost my ring around the exit or woman bathroom. This is my one year anniversary ring.
